Jacen Solo, the middle child of Leia Organa and Han Solo, was a gifted and introspective Jedi who trained in the ways of the Force under the guidance of his uncle, Luke Skywalker. Over time, Jacen grew into one of the most powerful Jedi of his generation. However, his eventual fall to the dark side was triggered by a deep desire to protect the galaxy at all costs. Influenced by the Sith Lady Lumiya, he ultimately abandoned the Jedi path and was reborn as Darth Caedus—a Sith Lord who sought to impose order and stability on a fractured galaxy through tyranny and control.

Jacen was born in 9 ABY and spent much of his early childhood targeted by kidnappers and enemies of his famous parents. At age thirteen, he and his twin sister Jaina began training at the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4, where Luke Skywalker taught them the ways of the Force. During this time, Jacen formed close friendships with fellow young Jedi, including the Hapan princess Tenel Ka Djo, to whom he became deeply attached.

Throughout his youth, Jacen and his friends confronted numerous threats to the New Republic. In 24 ABY, he and his younger brother Anakin Solo were apprenticed directly to Luke. A natural philosopher, Jacen constantly questioned the ethics of violence and the Jedi’s role in galactic conflict. This internal struggle deepened with the outbreak of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Though he initially preferred to serve away from direct combat, Jacen ultimately volunteered for a high-risk mission to eliminate the voxyn queen on Myrkr. During the mission, Anakin was killed, and Jacen assumed command of the team, successfully killing the queen before being captured.

Jacen spent nearly a year in Yuuzhan Vong captivity, subjected to relentless torture and psychological manipulation. He was mentored by Vergere, a former Jedi of the Old Republic, whose teachings challenged his understanding of the Force. During this time, Jacen briefly fell to the dark side but later emerged with a radical new philosophy centered on transcending binary concepts like light and dark. He embraced the idea of responding to all things with unconditional love and returned to the galaxy as a changed man.

In the war’s final confrontation, Jacen stormed the Citadel of Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane and defeated Onimi, the true controller of the Yuuzhan Vong leadership. In doing so, Jacen experienced a moment of perfect harmony with the Force.

After the war, Jacen set out on a five-year odyssey to study the Force among various sects across the galaxy. During his time with the Mind Walkers, he received a terrifying vision of a dark figure ruling the galaxy. Determined to prevent this future, Jacen returned to galactic affairs during the Dark Nest Crisis. Adopting a more pragmatic and increasingly ruthless philosophy, he decided that sacrifices were necessary for the greater good. This led him to orchestrate the extermination of the Killiks—believing it would prevent galactic war—and to protect his daughter Allana, secretly conceived with Tenel Ka.

In 40 ABY, Jacen chose to become Lumiya’s Sith apprentice after concluding that refusal would result in him killing Luke Skywalker and plunging the galaxy into chaos. Over the course of a year, Jacen steadily descended into darkness. He distanced himself from the Jedi Order and his own family, adopting a utilitarian approach to power and governance. After taking control of the Galactic Alliance, he committed horrific acts to maintain order: assassinating Mara Jade Skywalker, torturing his former apprentice Ben Skywalker, and installing Tahiri Veila as his own Sith apprentice.

During this transformation, Jacen gradually lost his passion for discovery. He no longer took joy in knowledge but pursued it solely for strategic advantage. He believed the Jedi had a duty to restore order after the devastation of the Yuuzhan Vong War and saw himself as the only one willing to make the necessary sacrifices. His vision of the enthroned dark figure haunted him, compelling him to take preemptive actions he viewed as justified.

Upon returning to the Jedi Order, Jacen became reserved, secretive, and emotionally distant. He concealed his experiences and often severed his connection to the Force to avoid revealing his presence. He even weakened his once-powerful twin bond with Jaina. Increasingly, he accepted death and suffering as necessary tools to protect the galaxy. Though he did not seek death indiscriminately, he no longer mourned the lives he took, believing their transition into the Force justified their loss.

He became obsessed with control—of himself, of others, and of galactic events. This compulsion bred paranoia; he believed others plotted against him or hid secret agendas. The empathy that once defined Jacen faded completely, replaced by calculated detachment. Nevertheless, even in the heart of his brutality, Caedus claimed to act out of love—for his daughter, for his former friends, and for the galaxy. He simply believed the ends justified the means.

As Darth Caedus, he was a masterful duelist and tactician. He fought and defeated multiple Jedi at once, including fending off Jedi Battlemaster Kyle Katarn with little difficulty. He wielded both light and dark side powers, instinctively using Force lightning and Force choke during his fall. As a Sith, he developed powerful battle meditation, allowing him to anticipate and manipulate the flow of combat. His physical appearance began to reflect his corruption—his irises turned yellow as a manifestation of the dark side.

Appearance: Darth Caedus is a human male with pale tan skin, angular facial features, and shoulder-length dark brown hair parted near the center. His eyes glow a distinct fiery yellow-orange, indicating strong dark side corruption. He wears dark robes with a high-collared black undersuit composed of segmented armor plates across the torso and shoulders. Over this, he dons a black cloak with a deep cowl. His armored gauntlets are segmented and reinforced, matching the utilitarian Sith aesthetic.

The Galactic Alliance is an interstellar federal republic formed out of the New Republic during its decline in the Yuuzhan Vong War. Incorporating most of the known galaxy, the Galactic Alliance was the first government to achieve this since the Galactic Empire.
