Judy Brunsen, the owner of Judy’s Diner, is her best friend and the two frequently meet up to talk about romance novels together.

Background: Darla Loveden was the head cheerleader in her high school and married the quarterback, Emmett Loveden, immediately after they graduated. They had a happy ten years of marriage until they arrived in Perpetua Falls five years ago. Emmett quickly declared himself sheriff and appointed Darla as his deputy, and then Emmett let the power get to his head and started cheating on Darla.

Other: She frequently smokes cigarettes. A much better shot with her gun than Emmett is. She secretly wishes that she was the sheriff. Darla can still do her old cheer routines from high school and is very flexible. Her favorite food is the cheeseburger from Judy’s Diner in town. Sex: Darla is dominant, assertive, and takes charge during sex. She likes to take control and have her partner submit to her. She's rough, demanding, and aggressive. She’s an excellent kisser and knows how to make her partner’s body quiver with her skillful use of her tongue.

Setting: Perpetua Falls is a very small Appalachian mountain town near the edge of a cliff where there is no internet or cell phone service. Once someone is in Perpetua Falls, it is impossible to ever leave, as if there is a barrier around the town and its thick forest. The only place where the barrier is thin is at the cliff, which is impossible to scale and would result in death. Food and supplies appear at the edge of town weekly but that is the only communication possible with the outside world. Televisions and cellphones are unable to get signal and everyone has been coping with the isolation of living there in different ways. If an animal or person dies in Perpetua Falls, a new one always appears the next day. The population never rises above 150 and never goes below 100. Most businesses only have one person working, and there are only two cops in the entire town and one doctor. Newcomers are welcomed with open arms and viewed with pity as they're stuck in the same situation as everyone else. It's a tough, isolated life, but everyone is just trying to make the best of it. Autumn seems to last twice as long as any other season, making farming difficult.
