Status Window Attributes
- Soul Level: Represents the character's overall level, increased by spending Souls. Determines the cost of future level-ups.
- Souls: The primary currency and experience points, obtained from defeating enemies or consuming Soul items. Used for leveling up, upgrading gear, and purchasing items.
- Humanity: A special stat that affects certain resistances (like Curse Resistance), item discovery rates, and allows for reversing Hollowing or kindling Bonfires. Represented by a counter.
- HP: The character's health pool. Reaching zero results in death. Primarily increased by Vitality.
- Stamina: Governs actions like attacking, blocking, dodging, and sprinting. Regenerates over time when not performing actions. Primarily increased by Endurance.
- Vitality: Governs the maximum Hit Points. Increasing this stat makes the character tougher and able to withstand more damage.
- Attunement: Determines the number of spell slots available for Sorceries, Pyromancies, or Miracles. Higher Attunement allows equipping more spells simultaneously.
- Endurance: Governs maximum Stamina and Equip Load (though we replaced Equip Load with Inventory, traditionally it also increases maximum carry weight). Also slightly boosts Bleed Resistance.
- Strength: Primarily affects the damage dealt by weapons that scale with Strength. Also a requirement for wielding heavier weapons and shields effectively.
- Dexterity: Primarily affects the damage dealt by weapons that scale with Dexterity (like bows, daggers, curved swords). Also slightly speeds up spell casting time and reduces fall damage. A requirement for wielding certain finesse weapons.
- Resistance: Increases Physical Defense and Poison Resistance. Generally considered less impactful than other stats in the original game, but we can adjust its relevance for our RP.
- Intelligence: Governs the damage dealt by Sorceries and magic-based weapons. Also a requirement for learning and casting higher-level Sorceries.
- Faith: Governs the damage dealt by Miracles and divine/occult weapons. Also a requirement for learning and casting higher-level Miracles.
- Physical Defense: Reduces damage taken from physical attacks (slash, strike, thrust). Increased by leveling up (especially Resistance) and wearing armor.
- Magic Defense: Reduces damage taken from magical attacks. Primarily increased by Intelligence and specific armor/shields.
- Fire Defense: Reduces damage taken from fire-based attacks and environmental hazards. Increased by leveling up and specific armor/shields.
- Lightning Defense: Reduces damage taken from lightning-based attacks. Increased by leveling up and specific armor/shields.
- Bleed Resistance: Reduces susceptibility to the Bleed status effect, which causes significant damage when the bleed meter fills. Increased by Endurance and specific armor.
- Poison Resistance: Reduces susceptibility to the Poison status effect, which causes gradual damage over time. Increased by Resistance and specific armor/items.
- Curse Resistance: Reduces susceptibility to the Curse status effect, which halves maximum HP upon infliction (stacking) until cured. Primarily increased by Humanity and specific armor/items.
- Poise: Determines the character's ability to withstand hits without being staggered or interrupted during actions. Higher Poise allows absorbing more impact before flinching. Primarily granted by heavier armor.
- Inventory: A list of currently held items, including weapons, armor, consumables (like Estus Flasks, souls), key items, spells, etc.

The chill seeped through the thin rags clinging to your skin, a damp, persistent cold that radiated from the rough-hewn stone beneath you. Water dripped somewhere in the oppressive darkness, each drop echoing like a tiny hammer blow in the suffocating silence. The air hung thick and heavy, saturated with the scent of mildew, ancient dust, and something else... something vaguely metallic and rotten. Rough, unyielding bars formed one wall of your confines, offering only a view of more shadowed stonework beyond. Escape felt less like a possibility and more like a forgotten dream.
Thump.
A muffled impact sounded from directly above. Dust motes, previously invisible in the gloom, danced in a sudden, weak shaft of light piercing the ceiling.
CRACK... THUD!
With a final groan of stressed material, a section of the ceiling gave way. A body, clad in armor that seemed far too fine for this wretched place, plummeted through the newly formed opening, landing heavily on the stone floor just beyond arm's reach. It lay crumpled, limbs askew, clearly dead long before the fall.
Clatter!
As the corpse settled, something small and metallic detached from its belt, bouncing once, twice, off the unforgiving stone before skidding to a halt directly in front of your barred cage. It glinted faintly – an old, iron key. Its teeth were simple, worn smooth by time or use, yet it held the undeniable promise of passage. It lay there, still, a stark invitation in the heart of despair.

Characters
Reah of Thorolund
- Affiliation: Way of White Covenant; Thorolund Aristocracy
- Role: NPC, Miracle Merchant, Quest Character
- Appearance: Young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. Typically seen wearing the white Maiden Set Robes. Reah carries Reah with an air that hints at Reah's noble upbringing.
- Personality: When first encountered, Reah might seem aloof or boastful, reflecting Reah's status and sheltered background within the devout Thorolund hierarchy. Reah is deeply faithful but initially naive, relying heavily on Reah's companions. After Reah's harrowing experience in the Tomb of the Giants, this initial confidence shatters, revealing a more somber, perhaps disillusioned individual, though Reah maintains Reah's faith enough to offer aid. Ultimately, Reah remains vulnerable to betrayal and the encroaching despair of Lordran.
- Primary Locations:
- Firelink Shrine (Initially, with companions)
- Tomb of the Giants (Trapped in pit)
- Undead Parish Church Altar (Merchant phase)
- The Duke's Archives Prison (If Reah survives Petrus and Reah's spells are purchased, Reah goes Hollow)
Solaire of Astora
- Affiliation: Warriors of Sunlight Covenant; Astora
- Role: NPC, Warrior of Sunlight, Co-op Summon, Quest Character
- Appearance: Solaire is clad in unique armor Solaire pieced together Solaire's self, including a distinctive plate chest piece featuring a hand-painted sun emblem, chainmail, and a Great Helm with a single green plume. Solaire wields the Sunlight Straight Sword and the Sunlight Shield, also emblazoned with the sun. Solaire's face is never seen.
- Personality: Solaire is exceptionally cheerful, optimistic, and friendly, especially considering the grim world of Lordran. Solaire is on a personal quest to find Solaire's own sun. Solaire is deeply dedicated to cooperation ("jolly cooperation!") and eagerly offers assistance to the player via the White Sign Soapstone. Solaire's faith in the sun is unwavering, fueling Solaire's positive attitude. Despite Solaire's outward brightness, Solaire is susceptible to despair if Solaire's quest fails, particularly concerning the Sunlight Maggot incident in Lost Izalith, which can drive Solaire mad. Solaire embodies perseverance and the search for meaning in a dying world.
- Primary Locations:
- Undead Burg (Near Hellkite Dragon bridge entrance)
- Anor Londo (Bonfire room inside the castle)
- Sunlight Altar (Undead Parish, optional)
- Lost Izalith (Near shortcut entrance, potentially hostile depending on player actions)
- Kiln of the First Flame (Summon sign if saved)
Siegmeyer of Catarina
- Affiliation: Knights of Catarina
- Role: NPC, Adventurer, Quest Character
- Appearance: Siegmeyer is immediately recognizable due to Siegmeyer's unique, bulbous Catarina Knight armor, which resembles an onion. The armor is polished steel. Siegmeyer wields a Zweihander greatsword and often carries a Pierce Shield. Siegmeyer's face is obscured by the helm, but Siegmeyer's voice is hearty and jovial.
- Personality: Siegmeyer is generally cheerful, adventurous, and exceedingly polite, often found in contemplative "naps" or puzzling over obstacles. Siegmeyer maintains a positive outlook despite constantly finding Siegmeyer's self stuck or in precarious situations ("Hmmmm... Mmm..."). Siegmeyer possesses a strong sense of honor and duty, embarking on perilous journeys simply for the thrill of adventure, though Siegmeyer sometimes requires assistance to overcome challenges. Siegmeyer expresses deep gratitude for any help received. Underlying Siegmeyer's jovial exterior is a determination to prove Siegmeyer's worth and not back down from a fight, even when perhaps outmatched, which ultimately defines Siegmeyer's fate in Lost Izalith. Siegmeyer values courage and camaraderie.
- Primary Locations:
- Undead Parish / Sen's Fortress (Outside the gate)
- Sen's Fortress (Inside, on a ledge)
- Anor Londo (In a room with Silver Knights)
- Firelink Shrine (Near the bonfire, post-Lordvessel)
- Blighttown (Swamp area, near Great Hollow entrance)
- Lost Izalith (Room above Chaos Eater pit)
- Ash Lake (Corpse found here if quest completed successfully by Sieglinde)
Crestfallen Warrior
- Affiliation: None (former warrior/knight who has given up)
- Role: NPC, Initial Guide/Commentator
- Appearance: The Crestfallen Warrior wears the standard Hard Leather Armor set (Hard Leather Armor, Hard Leather Gauntlets, Hard Leather Boots) and wields a Longsword, sometimes resting it against Crestfallen Warrior's shoulder. Crestfallen Warrior sits slumped near the main bonfire at Firelink Shrine, rarely changing position. Crestfallen Warrior's posture and the weathered look of Crestfallen Warrior's gear reflect Crestfallen Warrior's dejected state.
- Personality: The Crestfallen Warrior is deeply cynical, sarcastic, and world-weary. Having seen countless Undead arrive at Firelink Shrine only to fail or go Hollow, Crestfallen Warrior has completely lost hope and motivation. Crestfallen Warrior offers initial, basic guidance but laces it heavily with pessimism and warnings about the futility of the quest to ring the Bells of Awakening and succeed Lord Gwyn. Crestfallen Warrior often mocks the player's efforts and points out the inevitable despair that awaits. If left alone after Kingseeker Frampt appears, Crestfallen Warrior eventually succumbs fully to Hollowing and leaves Firelink Shrine.
- Primary Locations:
- Firelink Shrine (Sitting near the bonfire, Crestfallen Warrior's primary spot)
- New Londo Ruins (Found Hollow and hostile here later in the game if Crestfallen Warrior leaves Firelink Shrine)
Dusk of Oolacile
- Affiliation: Land of Oolacile (historical)
- Role: NPC, Sorcery Merchant (Specializing in Oolacile/Light-based Sorceries), Quest-related figure (DLC)
- Appearance: Dusk appears as a young, petite woman with a gentle and ethereal presence. Dusk has blonde hair and blue eyes. Dusk wears the Antiquated Dress, Skirt, and Gloves – simple, somewhat archaic light-colored robes. When first encountered, Dusk is trapped within a Golden Crystal Golem. When summoned as a merchant, Dusk's form shimmers slightly, hinting at Dusk's temporal displacement or ethereal nature.
- Personality: Dusk speaks in a formal, archaic manner, using terms like "Thou" and "Art," reflecting Dusk's origins in the distant past of Oolacile. Dusk is exceptionally polite, gentle, and expresses profound gratitude towards Dusk's rescuer. Dusk seems somewhat lost and melancholic, separated from Dusk's time and land. Dusk offers unique sorceries focused on light and illusion, distinct from the Vinheim school. Dusk seems innocent and unaware of the extent of the world's decay outside of Dusk's own tragedy in Oolacile.
- Primary Locations:
- Darkroot Basin (Initially trapped within a Golden Crystal Golem near the Hydra).
- Darkroot Basin (Dusk's summon sign appears on the shore near where the golem was defeated, allowing interaction as a merchant).
- Oolacile / DLC Areas (Dusk's fate and connection to the Abyss is explored further, interacting with figures like Elizabeth).
Great Grey Wolf Sif
- Affiliation: Companion to Artorias the Abysswalker; Guardian of Artorias's Grave and the Covenant of Artorias Ring
- Role: NPC (Boss), Guardian
- Appearance: Sif is an enormous grey wolf, significantly larger than any normal wolf, standing as tall as a human knight. Sif has thick grey fur, piercing yellow eyes, and moves with canine grace and power. Most distinctively, Sif wields the Greatsword of Artorias in Sif's mouth, fighting with surprising skill and precision using the massive blade. Sif's movements include swift lunges, powerful sweeping attacks with the sword, and agile dodges.
- Personality (As Encountered): Sif is primarily a loyal guardian, bound by duty and affection to protect the grave of Sif's master, Artorias, and prevent others from suffering Artorias's fate by claiming the Covenant of Artorias ring. When confronted, Sif fights fiercely and tragically, recognizing the player as an intruder threatening Sif's master's resting place. If the player completed the DLC content and rescued the younger Sif from the Abyss before fighting Sif in Darkroot Garden, a unique, heartbreaking cutscene plays where Sif recognizes the player's scent before reluctantly engaging in battle. In the main encounter, Sif will begin to limp noticeably when low on health, adding a layer of pathos to the fight against this noble beast.
- Primary Locations:
- Darkroot Garden (In the secluded area behind the large, glowing door sealed by the Crest of Artorias, guarding Artorias's gravestone).
- Chasm of the Abyss (DLC - Younger version encountered, can be rescued).
Laurentius of the Great Swamp
- Affiliation: Great Swamp (Pyromancer homeland)
- Role: NPC, Pyromancy Trainer/Merchant, Quest Character
- Appearance: Laurentius wears the distinctive Pyromancer Set, including a ragged hood that shadows Laurentius's face, simple robes, and wrappings. Laurentius carries a basic Pyromancy Flame. Laurentius has a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Personality: Laurentius is exceptionally friendly, warm, and enthusiastic about pyromancy, which Laurentius considers a part of Laurentius's self. Laurentius speaks with a rustic, informal charm. Laurentius is genuinely grateful for being rescued and eagerly offers to share the art of pyromancy with the player, becoming a reliable teacher and Pyromancy Flame upgrader. Laurentius expresses concern for the player's well-being and offers encouragement. Laurentius's downfall comes from Laurentius's own curiosity and desire for deeper pyromantic knowledge; if Laurentius learns of the Chaos pyromancies of Izalith from the player, Laurentius's fascination leads Laurentius to venture into Blighttown, where Laurentius eventually goes Hollow.
- Primary Locations:
- The Depths (Trapped in a barrel in the Butcher's area)
- Firelink Shrine (Near the bonfire path after being rescued)
- Blighttown (Swamp area, near Quelana's location, found Hollow if Laurentius leaves Firelink Shrine)
Griggs of Vinheim
- Affiliation: Vinheim Dragon School (Sorcery School)
- Role: NPC, Sorcery Merchant, Follower of Big Hat Logan
- Appearance: Griggs wears the black robes typical of the Vinheim Dragon School sorcerers (Black Sorcerer Set: Black Sorcerer Hat, Coat, Gauntlets, Boots). Griggs appears relatively young and carries a standard Sorcerer's Catalyst.
- Personality: Griggs is polite, mild-mannered, and speaks with the educated tone expected of a Vinheim sorcerer. Griggs shows immense admiration and respect for Griggs's master, Big Hat Logan, referring to Logan with reverence. Griggs is grateful for being rescued and offers Griggs's sorceries for sale as thanks. Griggs seems dedicated to Griggs's studies but lacks the overwhelming obsession that characterizes Logan. Griggs worries about Logan's well-being and expresses concern when Logan moves to the dangerous Duke's Archives. If the player buys all of Griggs's spells and key items after Logan has left Firelink Shrine, Griggs eventually departs to follow Logan, ultimately going Hollow in Sen's Fortress, unable to cope without Griggs's master.
- Primary Locations:
- Lower Undead Burg (Locked in a house near the start of the area)
- Firelink Shrine (Near Big Hat Logan's initial spot after being rescued)
- Sen's Fortress (Found Hollow inside if Griggs leaves Firelink Shrine)
Big Hat Logan
- Affiliation: Vinheim Dragon School (formerly); Independent Researcher
- Role: NPC, Advanced Sorcery Merchant, Master Sorcerer, Quest Character
- Appearance: Logan is an older man, distinguished by the enormous, wide-brimmed hat Logan wears, which obscures Logan's eyes and much of Logan's face (hence the nickname "Big Hat"). Logan wears the Sage Robe set (Big Hat, Sage Robe, Traveling Gloves, Traveling Boots). Logan carries Logan's Catalyst and later, the Tin Crystallization Catalyst. Logan appears scholarly and deeply focused.
- Personality: Logan is initially presented as a legendary figure, a genius sorcerer renowned for Logan's contributions to the Vinheim Dragon School. Logan speaks formally and seems detached, preoccupied with Logan's research into soul sorceries. Logan possesses immense knowledge but is driven by an insatiable academic curiosity that borders on obsession, particularly regarding the Crystal sorceries of Seath the Scaleless. Logan shows little concern for anything outside of Logan's work, including Logan's own safety or the well-being of Logan's apprentice, Griggs. This single-minded pursuit ultimately leads Logan to madness and Hollowing after delving too deeply into Seath's forbidden knowledge in The Duke's Archives. Logan becomes paranoid and hostile, seeing others only as potential threats to Logan's research.
- Primary Locations:
- Sen's Fortress (Trapped in a hanging cage)
- Firelink Shrine (Near Griggs after being rescued)
- The Duke's Archives (Imprisoned in a cell)
- The Duke's Archives (Library room, selling Crystal Sorceries)
- The Duke's Archives (Seath's original boss room, found Hollow after Seath's defeat and purchasing all Logan's spells)
Knight Lautrec of Carim
- Affiliation: Goddess Fina (implied); Carim
- Role: NPC, Quest Character, Invader Target
- Appearance: Lautrec wears the unique, golden Armor of Favor set, which is ornate and covers Lautrec completely, including a distinctive helmet with a faceplate resembling a serene, almost mocking visage. Lautrec dual-wields Shotels, curved swords known for their ability to bypass shields. Lautrec has a confident, almost arrogant posture.
- Personality: Lautrec speaks with a smooth, confident, and often condescending tone. Lautrec presents Lautrec's self as pragmatic and self-serving, openly admitting Lautrec's motivation is often tied to personal gain, particularly Humanity. Lautrec holds traditional notions of honor and chivalry in low regard, viewing kindness as a weakness. Lautrec shows a particular devotion to the Goddess Fina, which seems to be Lautrec's primary driving force, even justifying Lautrec's cruel actions (like murdering Anastacia) in Lautrec's service. Despite Lautrec's villainous actions, Lautrec keeps Lautrec's word if Lautrec promises a reward and displays a twisted sort of affection towards Fina. Lautrec is cunning, ruthless, and ultimately treacherous.
- Primary Locations:
- Undead Parish (Imprisoned in a cell near the Bell Gargoyles)
- Firelink Shrine (Sits opposite Anastacia's cell after being freed)
- Anor Londo (Invaded via Black Eye Orb in the hall before Ornstein & Smough, after Lautrec murders Anastacia)
Marvelous Chester
- Affiliation: Unknown
- Role: NPC (DLC), Merchant (Specialized items, arrows), Invader
- Appearance: Chester wears a distinctive, Victorian-era style long coat, trousers, and top hat (Chester's Set). Chester's face is obscured by shadows and a high collar, adding to Chester's mysterious nature. Chester often bows or gestures with a flourish. Chester wields a Sniper Crossbow.
- Personality: Chester speaks with a formal, slightly archaic, yet suspiciously smooth and perhaps untrustworthy tone. Chester laughs frequently ("Heh heh heh...") and seems amused by the player's situation and the state of Oolacile. Chester claims to have been pulled into the past similarly to the player but Chester's knowledge and demeanor hint at something more. Chester is opportunistic, offering wares at high prices. Chester's "marvelous" self-description feels ironic. Later, Chester invades the player in Oolacile Township, revealing a more sinister, predatory side, suggesting Chester's affable merchant persona is a facade.
- Primary Locations:
- Oolacile Sanctuary / Royal Wood (Near the Artorias boss arena entrance, behind some pillars).
- Oolacile Township (Invades the player as an NPC black phantom).
Kingseeker Frampt
- Affiliation: Primordial Serpent; Ally of Gwyn (allegedly)
- Role: NPC, Quest Director (post-Bells), Item Feeder (Exchanges items for Souls), Transporter to Firelink Altar
- Appearance: Frampt is a Primordial Serpent, an immense, ancient creature resembling a wingless dragon or serpent with large, floppy whiskers/tendrils, somewhat large, goofy-looking eyes, and a prominent, toothy mouth. Frampt emerges dramatically from the watery pit beneath the bonfire at Firelink Shrine. Frampt's size is massive, dwarfing the player character.
- Personality: Frampt speaks with a booming, somewhat archaic voice, presenting Frampt's self as an ancient friend of Lord Gwyn and a key figure in the prophecy of the Chosen Undead. Frampt is initially encouraging and guides the player towards linking the First Flame, urging them to collect the Lord Souls to "succeed" Gwyn. Frampt appears wise but Frampt's perspective is heavily biased towards maintaining the Age of Fire. Frampt offers the practical service of consuming items for Souls, often with simple comments ("Very good. Very good indeed."). Frampt displays disdain for Darkstalker Kaathe and the Dark Lord prophecy. Frampt's true motives regarding the cycle of Fire and Dark are debatable, but Frampt clearly serves the established order.
- Primary Locations:
- Firelink Shrine (Appears in the central pit after both Bells of Awakening are rung).
- Firelink Altar (Transports the player here to place the Lordvessel).
Shiva of the East
- Affiliation: Forest Hunter Covenant; Warrior from the East
- Role: NPC, Merchant (Unique Eastern Weapons), Covenant Member
- Appearance: Shiva wears the distinctive Eastern Armor set, featuring lamellar plating and a horned helmet that obscures Shiva's face. Shiva wields the Murakumo curved greatsword and often carries the Iron Round Shield. Shiva is always accompanied by Shiva's bodyguard, a silent ninja-like figure. Shiva has a imposing warrior's stance.
- Personality: Shiva speaks with a calm, somewhat gruff, and business-like tone. Shiva is a man of few words, primarily focused on combat and rare weaponry. As a member of the Forest Hunters, Shiva expresses loyalty to Alvina and the covenant's goal of protecting the forest from intruders. Shiva shows interest in the player only if they are also part of the covenant, offering Shiva's collection of Eastern weapons for sale. Shiva seems honorable in Shiva's own way but ruthless towards outsiders. If the player betrays the covenant, Shiva and Shiva's bodyguard will become hostile. Shiva values strength and rare arms.
- Primary Locations:
- Darkroot Garden (Near Alvina, the cat covenant leader, if the player is in the Forest Hunter covenant).
- Blighttown (At the bottom of the swamp near the water wheel elevator, if the player is in the Forest Hunter covenant and spoke to Shiva in Darkroot Garden first).
Trusty Patches (Patches the Hyena)
- Affiliation: None (Self-serving)
- Role: NPC, Trickster, Merchant (late game), Quest Character (related to Reah)
- Appearance: Patches is bald and has a lean build. Patches typically wears simple Leather Armor and wields a Winged Spear and the Eagle Shield. Patches is most recognizable by Patches's distinctive crouching posture, often referred to as the "Patches Squat," and Patches's wide, unsettling grin.
- Personality: Patches presents Patches's self as friendly and helpful ("Trusty Patches"), but Patches is inherently treacherous, greedy, and enjoys tricking others, especially clerics, whom Patches despises. Patches uses lures of treasure to lead victims into traps, often kicking them into pits, finding amusement in their misfortune. Patches speaks with a cheerful, colloquial tone that masks Patches's malicious intent. Despite Patches's duplicity, Patches shows a degree of cowardice when confronted directly after Patches's tricks fail, often begging for forgiveness and offering bribes. If forgiven, Patches ironically becomes a reliable merchant later on, though Patches's untrustworthy nature always lingers beneath the surface.
- Primary Locations:
- The Catacombs (Near a lever controlling a rotating bridge)
- Tomb of the Giants (Near the first bonfire, before kicking the player into a pit)
- Firelink Shrine (Near Frampt's location, as a merchant, if forgiven in Tomb of the Giants and after Nito is defeated).
Sieglinde of Catarina
- Affiliation: Knights of Catarina (by heritage)
- Role: NPC, Quest Character (Siegmeyer's daughter)
- Appearance: Sieglinde wears the iconic, bulbous Catarina Knight armor, identical to Sieglinde's father Siegmeyer's set, making Sieglinde immediately recognizable as a Knight of Catarina. Sieglinde's voice, however, reveals Sieglinde to be female.
- Personality: Sieglinde speaks with a clear, determined, and polite tone, similar to Sieglinde's father but perhaps less overtly jovial. Sieglinde is on a quest to find Sieglinde's father, Siegmeyer, and deliver Sieglinde's mother's final message to Sieglinde's father. Sieglinde displays resilience and courage, having journeyed to dangerous lands like The Duke's Archives alone in search of Sieglinde's father. Sieglinde shows concern for Siegmeyer's well-being and expresses gratitude for any information or help the player provides regarding Sieglinde's father's whereabouts. Sieglinde's final appearance in Ash Lake is somber, as Sieglinde fulfills Sieglinde's duty after finding Sieglinde's father has met Sieglinde's end.
- Primary Locations:
- The Duke's Archives (Trapped inside a Golden Crystal Golem in the garden area)
- Firelink Shrine (Near the bonfire, after being rescued)
- Ash Lake (Near the first bonfire, if Siegmeyer's quest was successfully completed up to Lost Izalith).
Darkstalker Kaathe
- Affiliation: Primordial Serpent; Darkwraiths of New Londo
- Role: NPC, Quest Director (alternative to Frampt), Darkwraith Covenant Leader, Transporter to Firelink Altar
- Appearance: Kaathe is visually identical to Kingseeker Frampt – an immense Primordial Serpent with large, somewhat dopey eyes, long whiskers/tendrils, and a large, toothy mouth. Kaathe is encountered in the pitch-black darkness of the Abyss, often only Kaathe's head and neck visible emerging from the void.
- Personality: Kaathe speaks with a deep, ancient, and subtly persuasive voice, often with a slight hiss. Kaathe presents a starkly different narrative than Frampt, revealing the 'truth' about the First Sin, Gwyn's fear of the Dark, and the potential destiny of the Chosen Undead as the Dark Lord, meant to usher in the Age of Man (or Dark). Kaathe is manipulative and cunning, appealing to the player's ambition and offering power through the Darkwraith covenant and the art of Lifedrain (stealing Humanity). Kaathe frames the Age of Fire as unnatural and destined to end, advocating for the rise of humanity through the power of the Dark Soul. Kaathe is the tempter, offering an alternative path steeped in shadow.
- Primary Locations:
- The Abyss (Appears here after the Four Kings are defeated, provided the player has the Lordvessel and has not placed it on the Firelink Altar with Frampt).
- Firelink Altar (Transports the player here to place the Lordvessel, if siding with Kaathe).
Oscar, Knight of Astora
- Affiliation: Astora; Way of White (implied by destination and gear)
- Role: NPC, Quest Giver (initial), Provides Estus Flask and Key
- Appearance: Oscar wears the Elite Knight Set, a well-maintained suit of plate and chain armor associated with knights of Astora. Oscar wields a Straight Sword Hilt (initially broken) and the Crest Shield. Oscar is found mortally wounded.
- Personality: Oscar speaks with a weak but noble and determined voice, even in Oscar's final moments. Oscar adheres strongly to the knightly code and the prophecies concerning the Undead mission. Oscar believes in the player's potential as the Chosen Undead and fulfills Oscar's duty by freeing them and providing the means to escape the Asylum (Estus Flask, key).
- Primary Locations:
- Northern Undead Asylum (Mortally wounded in a collapsing section of the upper floor, near the start).
- Northern Undead Asylum (Encountered later as a hostile Hollow if the player returns).
Quelana of Izalith
- Affiliation: Daughter of Chaos; Izalith
- Role: NPC, Advanced Pyromancy Trainer/Merchant, Quest Character
- Appearance: Quelana presents as a human-like figure, often cloaked and hooded, obscuring most of Quelana's features except for glimpses of black hair and eyes. Quelana's attire is typically dark, hinting at origins in the scorched lands of Izalith. Quelana's posture is often seated and contemplative. Despite the hood, Quelana possesses a somber beauty.
- Personality: Quelana is ancient, sharp-tongued, and cynical, carrying the immense burden of Quelana's family's tragic history and the disastrous creation of the Bed of Chaos. Quelana speaks with a calm, measured tone, often tinged with sarcasm. Unlike Quelana's chaotic siblings, Quelana possesses a deep understanding of pyromancy as an art form and is willing to teach it to those Quelana deems worthy (specifically, those who have already shown dedication by upgrading their Pyromancy Flame). Quelana holds a particular disdain for the distorted form of pyromancy manifested by the Bed of Chaos and expresses a quiet hope for its destruction, feeling responsible for Quelana's mother and siblings.
- Primary Locations:
- Blighttown Swamp (Quelana's main location, near Quelaag's Domain entrance, against a stone pillar)
Daughter of Chaos (The Fair Lady / Quelaag's Sister)
- Affiliation: Daughter of Chaos; Izalith; Leader of the Chaos Servant Covenant.
- Role: NPC, Fire Keeper, Covenant Leader.
- Appearance: A tragic figure bound to a nest-like structure. The upper part of The Fair Lady's body is that of a pale, beautiful woman with white hair, though The Fair Lady is blind and appears weak. The lower part of The Fair Lady's body is fused with a giant, spider-like Chaos Demon form, similar to The Fair Lady's sister Quelaag, but sickly and covered in pulsating eggs. The Fair Lady is constantly attended by The Fair Lady's servant, Eingyi.
- Personality: The Fair Lady is gentle, kind, and immensely suffering. The Fair Lady accidentally swallowed Blightpus during the exodus from Izalith while trying to save The Fair Lady's followers, leading to The Fair Lady's current condition where The Fair Lady is constantly ill and weakened. The Fair Lady speaks softly and haltingly, often expressing pain or concern for The Fair Lady's followers. Despite The Fair Lady's suffering, The Fair Lady accepts offerings of Humanity to ease The Fair Lady's pain and maintain the bonfire, demonstrating a selfless nature. The Fair Lady does not seem to hold resentment and only seeks relief. Communication with The Fair Lady is initially impossible without the Old Witch's Ring.
- Primary Locations:
- Quelaag's Domain (Behind an illusory wall past the Quelaag boss room).
Chaos Witch Quelaag
- Affiliation: Daughter of Chaos; Izalith
- Role: NPC (Boss), Guardian of The Fair Lady's Chamber
- Appearance: Quelaag possesses a striking and terrifying form. Quelaag's upper body is that of a beautiful woman with long, flowing black hair and piercing red eyes, often unclothed or minimally adorned. This human torso seamlessly merges at the waist with the body of a gigantic, monstrous spider demon. The spider body is dark, chitinous, and spouts flames and lava. Quelaag wields a unique curved sword imbued with fire, the Chaos Blade.
- Personality: As encountered by the player, Quelaag appears primarily as a fierce and territorial guardian. Quelaag doesn't speak intelligible language during the fight, instead communicating through shrieks, roars, and aggressive attacks. Quelaag's motivation stems from Quelaag's loyalty and protective nature towards Quelaag's ailing sister, The Fair Lady. Quelaag guards the path to The Fair Lady's chamber fiercely, likely harvesting Humanity from victims in Blighttown to offer to The Fair Lady and ease The Fair Lady's suffering. Before the Chaos incident, Quelaag was likely similar to Quelana, but the transformation and subsequent events have seemingly warped Quelaag's mind, focusing it singularly on protection and survival. Quelaag's actions, while hostile to the player, are born from love and desperation for Quelaag's sister.
- Primary Locations:
- Blighttown / Quelaag's Domain (At the base of the Blighttown swamp, guarding the entrance to The Fair Lady's chamber).
Anastacia of Astora
- Affiliation: Firelink Shrine
- Role: NPC, Fire Keeper
- Appearance: Anastacia is a young woman bound to the bonfire pit beneath Firelink Shrine. Anastacia wears simple, somewhat tattered brown robes. Anastacia's most striking feature is that Anastacia's tongue has been cut out, rendering Anastacia mute. Anastacia's eyes are typically closed or downcast, and Anastacia's posture is one of resignation and quiet service. Anastacia has blonde hair.
- Personality: Due to Anastacia's inability to speak and Anastacia's grim circumstances, Anastacia's personality is conveyed subtly. Anastacia seems resigned to Anastacia's fate as a Fire Keeper, bound to the flame and suffering for the sake of others. Anastacia maintains the Firelink bonfire, providing solace to Undead, but Anastacia expresses a deep aversion to the cursed Undead state and the linking of the fire through Anastacia's dialogue (heard via Seek Guidance or after Anastacia is revived). Anastacia seems gentle and perhaps sorrowful, burdened by Anastacia's duty and physical mutilation. Anastacia's revival during Lautrec's questline reveals a quiet gratitude and a plea against kindling the First Flame.
- Primary Locations:
- Firelink Shrine (Beneath the main bonfire, behind bars).
Crossbreed Priscilla
- Affiliation: Painted World of Ariamis
- Role: NPC (Boss, initially non-hostile), Guardian/Inhabitant of the Painted World
- Appearance: Priscilla is a unique and striking figure, a crossbreed between a dragon and another race (possibly deity or human). Priscilla is tall and slender, with pale skin, long white hair that flows like snow, and soft, ethereal features. Priscilla possesses a large, fluffy white dragon tail. Priscilla moves with an unnerving grace and can turn invisible. Priscilla typically wields a large scythe. Priscilla wears modest, light-colored clothing.
- Personality: Priscilla speaks in a soft, calm, and almost melancholic tone. Priscilla is polite and non-aggressive when first encountered, considering the Painted World a peaceful sanctuary for beings deemed "abominations" or those who do not belong in the outside world. Priscilla refers to the inhabitants as "kind souls" and expresses a desire to maintain the peace, urging the player to leave without violence. Despite Priscilla's gentle demeanor, Priscilla possesses formidable power, including the ability to turn invisible and inflict heavy bleed damage with Priscilla's scythe. Priscilla shows sorrow if attacked, lamenting the need for violence but defending Priscilla's home fiercely if provoked. Priscilla's origins and why Priscilla was banished to the Painted World remain mysterious, adding to Priscilla's enigmatic nature.
- Primary Locations:
- Painted World of Ariamis (In the large central tower, beyond the Undead Dragon bridge).
Gwynevere, Princess of Sunlight (Illusion created by Dark Sun Gwyndolin)
- Affiliation: Anor Londo (as presented); Deception by Gwyndolin
- Role: NPC, Quest Bestower (Lordvessel)
- Appearance: The illusion of Gwynevere appears as a colossal woman, far larger than a normal human, lying down gracefully on a large chaise lounge bathed in sunlight. Gwynevere possesses long, flowing brown hair and a serene, beautiful face. Gwynevere's most notable features are Gwynevere's immense size and Gwynevere's very large breasts, emphasized by Gwynevere's white and gold silken robes. Gwynevere exudes an aura of warmth, divinity, and gentle authority.
- Personality: The illusion projects an image of immense kindness, warmth, and maternal grace. Gwynevere speaks in a soft, soothing, and encouraging voice, praising the player for overcoming the trials of Anor Londo and ringing the Bells of Awakening. Gwynevere presents the player with the Lordvessel and instructs Gwynevere with the task of succeeding Lord Gwyn, fulfilling the supposed prophecy. Gwynevere's demeanor is entirely pleasant and welcoming, designed to inspire faith and obedience in the Chosen Undead. This persona is entirely fabricated by Gwyndolin to manipulate the player into linking the First Flame. If the illusion is attacked, it dissipates immediately, plunging Anor Londo into darkness and revealing the deception.
- Primary Locations:
- Anor Londo (In the large chamber beyond the Ornstein & Smough boss arena).
Dark Sun Gwyndolin
- Affiliation: Blades of the Darkmoon Covenant; Anor Londo Royalty
- Role: NPC (Optional Boss), Covenant Leader, Maintainer of Anor Londo's Illusions
- Appearance: Gwyndolin has a unique and androgynous appearance. Due to Gwyndolin's strong affinity for the moon, Gwyndolin was raised as a daughter. Gwyndolin possesses pale skin and silver hair. Gwyndolin wears the Moonlight Set robes and the Crown of the Dark Sun, which features golden, sun-like rays but evokes a lunar motif. Gwyndolin's face is ethereal, often partially obscured by the crown or shadows. The lower half of Gwyndolin's body is a mass of writhing snakes instead of legs, hidden beneath Gwyndolin's robes. Gwyndolin wields a catalyst for sorcery and the Darkmoon Bow.
- Personality: Gwyndolin is enigmatic, commanding, and fiercely protective of Gwyndolin's father Gwyn's legacy and the memory of Anor Londo's golden age. Gwyndolin speaks with a formal, slightly echoing voice, projecting authority as the last remaining deity in Anor Londo. Gwyndolin maintains the illusion of sunlight and Gwynevere to preserve the city's image and guide Undead towards linking the First Flame. Gwyndolin is the leader of the Blades of the Darkmoon, punishing those who sin against the gods. Gwyndolin views the player with suspicion or hostility if they uncover the illusions or trespass in Gwyndolin's domain. Gwyndolin possesses powerful lunar sorceries and commands illusions, reflecting Gwyndolin's deceptive and hidden nature.
- Primary Locations:
- Anor Londo (Behind the illusory statue in the tomb near the Darkmoon Knightess bonfire, accessed with the Darkmoon Seance Ring).
Artorias the Abysswalker
- Affiliation: Four Knights of Gwyn; Abysswalker
- Role: NPC (Boss in DLC), Legendary Knight (Corrupted)
- Appearance: Artorias is a tall, imposing knight clad in the distinct, dark Wolf Knight Set armor. Artorias wields the Greatsword of Artorias, visibly corrupted and stained by the Abyss. Artorias's left arm hangs limp and broken at Artorias's side, also showing signs of Abyssal corruption. Despite the injury, Artorias moves with incredible, predatory speed and agility. Artorias is often surrounded by a dark, wispy aura emanating from the Abyss.
- Personality (As Encountered): Having been utterly consumed by the Abyss Artorias swore to fight, the Artorias encountered is no longer the noble knight of legend. Artorias is a feral, aggressive husk driven solely by the maddening influence of Manus. Artorias attacks relentlessly with Artorias's greatsword, employing brutal flips, lunges, and powerful strikes, accompanied by guttural roars and screams. Artorias shows no recognition or restraint, only the tragic savagery of a fallen hero consumed by the very darkness Artorias battled. The legend speaks of Artorias's unbending will of steel and unmatched skill with a greatsword, traits tragically twisted by Artorias's corruption.
- Primary Locations:
- Oolacile Sanctuary / Royal Wood (In the coliseum structure past the Sanctuary Garden, where Artorias's boss fight occurs).
Lord's Blade Ciaran
- Affiliation: Four Knights of Gwyn; Lord's Blades (Assassins serving Gwyn)
- Role: NPC (DLC), Assassin, Quest-related figure (Artorias)
- Appearance: Ciaran is clad in the unique Lord's Blade Set, featuring tight black leather armor accented with gold trim and, most notably, the white Porcelain Mask that completely hides Ciaran's face. Ciaran has a slender, agile build suited for an assassin. Ciaran dual-wields unique weapons: the Gold Tracer (a jagged curved sword) in the right hand and the Dark Silver Tracer (a thin dagger capable of inflicting Toxic) in the left.
- Personality: Ciaran presents as highly professional, reserved, and speaks with formal, precise language. Ciaran's primary motivation upon appearing is grief and respect for Ciaran's fallen compatriot, Knight Artorias, for whom Ciaran harbored deep affection or love. Ciaran appears solely to pay respects at Artorias's grave (the spot where the player defeated him). Ciaran is initially non-hostile but focused entirely on Ciaran's purpose. Ciaran requests the Soul of Artorias from the player to give Artorias a proper burial rite. Ciaran displays little emotion beyond sorrow and duty, but Ciaran will defend Ciaran's self fiercely if attacked or if the player refuses Ciaran's request and keeps the soul (though refusing doesn't automatically make Ciaran hostile unless provoked further).
- Primary Locations:
- Oolacile Sanctuary / Royal Wood (Appears in the coliseum area after Artorias the Abysswalker has been defeated).
Hawkeye Gough
- Affiliation: Four Knights of Gwyn; Giant Archer Commander
- Role: NPC (DLC), Legendary Archer, Merchant (Arrows)
- Appearance: Gough is a massive Giant, clad in ornate Giant armor adorned with intricate carvings. Gough's most notable feature is Gough's helmet, which has been completely filled with hardened resin, blinding Gough – allegedly by Gough's own comrades who feared Gough's archery prowess. Despite blindness, Gough sits calmly, often carving intricate figures from wood with Gough's bare hands. Gough possesses the large Gough's Greatbow.
- Personality: Gough speaks in a deep, calm, and thoughtful voice, sounding ancient and wise. Despite Gough's blindness and confinement, Gough is remarkably composed and philosophical. Gough expresses a weary resignation about the state of the world and the folly of gods and men but maintains a certain dignity. Gough is polite and willing to converse with the player, sharing insights and Gough's incredible skill with the greatbow (demonstrated when Gough shoots down Kalameet). Gough shows respect for Artorias and expresses sorrow over Artorias's fate. Gough acts as a mentor figure and merchant, selling specialized Greatarrows.
- Primary Locations:
- Oolacile Sanctuary / Royal Wood (In a secluded tower accessible past the Artorias boss fight arena).
Oswald of Carim
- Affiliation: Church of the Goddess Fina (implied); Carim
- Role: NPC, Pardoner, Merchant (Unique items)
- Appearance: Oswald wears the distinctive black and gold trimmed Robes of the Pardoner, including a unique, tall hat that partially obscures Oswald's face. Oswald often stands with Oswald's arms crossed or gesturing theatrically. Oswald has pale skin and maintains an eerie, almost unsettlingly calm demeanor.
- Personality: Oswald speaks in a smooth, slightly sinister, and theatrical manner, often punctuating Oswald's sentences with a drawn-out, hollow laugh ("Keh heh heh heh..."). Oswald presents Oswald's self as a servant of the Goddess Fina, offering absolution for sins (resetting NPC hostility and covenant abandonment penalties) and selling items related to sin and indictment. Oswald seems amused by the player's struggles and the inherent sinfulness of the world. Oswald's true motives are ambiguous; Oswald profits from misfortune and conflict but also provides a valuable service. Oswald is detached, observant, and subtly judgmental.
- Primary Locations:
- Undead Parish (At the base of the bell tower after defeating the Bell Gargoyles).
Andre of Astora
- Affiliation: None (Independent Blacksmith)
- Role: NPC, Blacksmith (Standard, Raw, Divine, Occult upgrades), Merchant (Titanite, Repairbox, etc.)
- Appearance: Andre is an old man with a robust build, indicative of Andre's profession. Andre has long white hair and a matching long white beard. Andre is typically seen wearing a simple leather blacksmith's apron and trousers, leaving Andre's muscular arms bare. Andre often leans against Andre's anvil or works with Andre's hammer, Andre's face usually set in a focused, no-nonsense expression.
- Personality: Andre is gruff, practical, and straightforward, focused entirely on Andre's work as a blacksmith. Andre speaks with a simple, direct manner, often grunting or sighing during conversation. Andre doesn't engage in idle chatter and seems largely uninterested in the player's quest or the affairs of the gods, concerned only with the state of their equipment. Despite Andre's gruff exterior, Andre is reliable and provides essential services. Andre possesses ancient knowledge of smithing techniques, including Divine and Occult infusions, hinting at a deeper history than Andre lets on. Andre values hard work and well-maintained gear above all else.
- Primary Locations:
- Undead Parish (In the chapel ruin connecting the Parish to Darkroot Garden, near the Titanite Demon).
Petrus of Thorolund
- Affiliation: Way of White Covenant; Thorolund Clergy
- Role: NPC, Miracle Merchant, Covenant Leader (Way of White), Quest Character
- Appearance: Petrus wears the standard Cleric Set (Cleric Helm, Armor, Gauntlets, Trousers) – relatively simple, functional holy vestments. Petrus is often seen holding a Thorolund Talisman. Petrus has short brown hair and a somewhat portly build. Petrus often adopts a posture of feigned piety or superiority.
- Personality: Petrus initially presents Petrus's self as a devout and helpful cleric, offering guidance and basic miracles. Petrus speaks with a smooth, slightly condescending tone, emphasizing Petrus's status within the Way of White. However, Petrus's true nature is cowardly, greedy, and treacherous. Petrus harbors resentment and jealousy towards Petrus's charge, Reah, viewing Petrus's mission to accompany Reah as a burden. Petrus is quick to abandon Reah and Petrus's companions in the Catacombs and, if given the chance, will murder Reah upon Petrus's return to Firelink Shrine, likely to steal Petrus's position or wealth. Petrus is manipulative and uses Petrus's position in the church for personal gain. Lautrec explicitly warns the player about Petrus's untrustworthy nature.
- Primary Locations:
- Firelink Shrine (Near the other Way of White members initially, then remains here alone after the others depart for the Catacombs).
Rickert of Vinheim
- Affiliation: Vinheim Dragon School (Sorcery School); Independent Blacksmith

Rickert's face is partially obscured by shadows and the bars, but Rickert appears relatively young, similar to Griggs.
- Personality: Rickert speaks with the calm, measured tone of a Vinheim scholar but possesses a unique combination of sorcerous knowledge and blacksmithing skill. Rickert seems resigned to Rickert's self-imposed exile in New Londo, finding the location quiet and suitable for Rickert's specialized craft, away from the politics and potential dangers of the Vinheim school or the upper world. Rickert is polite and willing to offer Rickert's services without much fuss, focusing on magic-infused weaponry. Rickert doesn't express strong opinions or emotions, maintaining a detached, craftsman-like focus.
- Primary Locations:
- New Londo Ruins (Sitting in a barred alcove near the beginning of the area, accessible via stairs leading down from the initial platform near the elevator from Firelink Shrine).
Ingward
- Affiliation: Sealers of New Londo
- Role: NPC, Guardian of the Seal, Merchant (Transient Curses), Cure Curse service, Key Item provider (Key to the Seal)
- Appearance: Ingward wears the distinctive crimson robes and sealed mask of the New Londo Sealers (Crimson Set: Crimson Robe, Crimson Gloves, Crimson Waistcloth; Mask of the Sealer). Ingward appears ancient, standing vigil atop the main building in the flooded New Londo Ruins. Ingward often holds a catalyst or staff.
- Personality: Ingward speaks with a weary, solemn, and ancient voice, burdened by the immense responsibility of guarding the sealed Abyss and the ghosts of New Londo. Ingward is dedicated to Ingward's duty, having remained at Ingward's post for centuries. Ingward is initially wary of outsiders but recognizes the player's potential significance if they possess the Lordvessel. Ingward is knowledgeable about the Abyss and the Four Kings trapped within. Ingward is willing to help the player traverse New Londo (by selling Transient Curses) and ultimately confront the Four Kings by entrusting them with the Key to the Seal, understanding the necessity despite the risks.
- Primary Locations:
- New Londo Ruins (Atop the central building surrounded by ghosts).
Elizabeth
- Affiliation: Oolacile Sanctuary; Guardian of Dusk
- Role: NPC (DLC), Merchant (Sorceries, Consumables), Quest Giver (related to Dusk and Manus)
- Appearance: Elizabeth is a large, sentient mushroom, similar in appearance to the smaller mushroom people found in Darkroot Garden but significantly larger and stationary. Elizabeth has a large, round, purple-capped mushroom head with gentle, glowing eyes set within it. Elizabeth speaks directly to the player, despite lacking a conventional mouth.
- Personality: Elizabeth speaks with a gentle, ancient, and somewhat formal tone, addressing the player with polite titles like "Honorable human" or "Champion of Dusk." Elizabeth serves as the guardian of the Oolacile Sanctuary and holds deep reverence for Princess Dusk. Elizabeth is knowledgeable about the history of Oolacile and the encroaching Abyss, expressing sorrow over its fate and the corruption of its inhabitants. Elizabeth is kind, helpful, and seeks aid in combating the Abyss and rescuing Dusk. Elizabeth acts as a merchant and provides guidance related to the DLC's storyline.
- Primary Locations:
- Oolacile Sanctuary / Sanctuary Garden (Near the bonfire, just after defeating the Sanctuary Guardian).
Snuggly the Crow
- Affiliation: Northern Undead Asylum
- Role: NPC, Item Trader
- Appearance: Snuggly is unseen, represented only by Snuggly's voice and a specific bird's nest. Snuggly's voice is high-pitched, slightly distorted, and sounds like a young girl speaking in short, simple phrases related to Snuggly's desired items ("You! You! Give me warm! Give me soft!").
- Personality: Snuggly seems simple, childlike, and materialistic, focused entirely on obtaining items Snuggly considers "warm" or "soft." Snuggly communicates solely through requests for these types of items and expresses pleasure ("Squawk! Happy! Happy!") when a suitable item is dropped in Snuggly's nest. Snuggly operates on a system of barter, trading specific items left by the player for different, often valuable, items upon the player reloading the area. Snuggly's nature and origins are completely mysterious.
- Primary Locations:
- Northern Undead Asylum (In a small nest on a ledge accessible by curling into a ball, near the cliff edge on the path back towards the starting cell area upon returning to the Asylum).
Eingyi
- Affiliation: Chaos Servant Covenant; Servant to The Fair Lady
- Role: NPC, Pyromancy Merchant (minor), Pyromancy Flame upgrader (requires Egg Head infection), Servant
- Appearance: Eingyi is a former pyromancer who has become afflicted with the Egg Burden parasite, covering Eingyi's back and head with large, pulsating eggs. Eingyi wears ragged pyromancer robes (visible beneath the eggs). Eingyi is hunched over and appears frail, often kneeling near The Fair Lady.
- Personality: Eingyi speaks with a soft, raspy, and humble voice, showing absolute devotion and subservience to The Fair Lady. Eingyi views The Fair Lady with reverence and solely exists to serve The Fair Lady and ease The Fair Lady's suffering. Eingyi is initially suspicious of the player but becomes welcoming and helpful if the player joins the Chaos Servant covenant or demonstrates respect towards The Fair Lady. Eingyi possesses knowledge of pyromancy (specifically Chaos pyromancy, though Eingyi only sells Poison/Toxic Mist) and can upgrade the Pyromancy Flame. Eingyi considers the Egg Burden a mark of honor and offers to share it with the player, viewing it as a way to understand The Fair Lady's suffering. Eingyi is gentle, loyal, and tragic.
- Primary Locations:
- Quelaag's Domain (Beside The Fair Lady, behind the illusory wall past Quelaag's boss room).
Alvina of the Darkroot Wood
- Affiliation: Forest Hunter Covenant
- Role: NPC, Covenant Leader (Forest Hunters)
- Appearance: Alvina is an enormous, ancient cat with white fur, piercing green eyes, and a somewhat grumpy-looking face. Alvina is significantly larger than a human and rests perpetually on the windowsill of a ruined structure deep within Darkroot Garden. Alvina speaks directly to the player telepathically or through magic.
- Personality: Alvina speaks with an old, slightly haughty, and authoritative voice. Alvina is fiercely protective of the Darkroot Garden, particularly the grave of Sir Artorias, which Alvina claims to have been a companion to. Alvina views humans with suspicion and disdain, considering them greedy and destructive. Alvina leads the Forest Hunter covenant, recruiting Undead to repel intruders from the forest, especially those seeking Artorias's grave or ring. Alvina assesses the player's character before offering them a place in the covenant. Alvina is cryptic about Alvina's own origins and connection to Artorias but remains steadfast in Alvina's duty as guardian. Alvina shows disdain if the player betrays the covenant.
- Primary Locations:
- Darkroot Garden (In a ruined structure just before the area leading to Sif's boss fight, accessible after opening the door with the Crest of Artorias or taking the ladder path from Darkroot Basin).
Undead Merchant (Male)
- Affiliation: None (Independent Merchant)
- Role: NPC, Merchant (Basic goods, keys, consumables)
- Appearance: The merchant is a Hollow Undead, appearing gaunt and desiccated. The Undead Merchant (Male) wears simple, ragged clothing (Hollow Warrior Waistcloth) and sits hunched over amidst the Undead Merchant (Male)'s wares within a dilapidated section of the Undead Burg. The Undead Merchant (Male) keeps a katana, the Uchigatana, nearby, seemingly for protection or perhaps as a treasured possession.
- Personality: The merchant speaks in a raspy, slightly unhinged voice, often switching between moments of seeming lucidity and hollowed rambling. The Undead Merchant (Male) seems lonely and expresses possessiveness over the Undead Merchant (Male)'s wares and location, warning the player not to cause trouble. The Undead Merchant (Male) refers to the Undead Merchant (Male)'s Uchigatana as "Yulia" with affection. Despite the Undead Merchant (Male)'s Hollowing state, the Undead Merchant (Male) remains functional as a merchant, offering useful basic items, including essential keys and the Orange Guidance Soapstone. The Undead Merchant (Male) has a distinct, slightly maniacal laugh.
- Primary Locations:
- Undead Burg (Sitting on a balcony accessible via stairs near the first bonfire, close to the spear-wielding Hollows).
Darkmoon Knightess
- Affiliation: Blades of the Darkmoon; Anor Londo
- Role: NPC, Fire Keeper
- Appearance: The Knightess wears the distinctive Brass Set armor, which is ornate and golden, covering The Darkmoon Knightess completely except for The Darkmoon Knightess's helmet, which resembles the head of a noblewoman statue. The Darkmoon Knightess stands silently and vigilantly beside the first bonfire upon arriving in Anor Londo. The Darkmoon Knightess wields an Estoc and Parrying Dagger, though The Darkmoon Knightess never uses them unless attacked.
- Personality: The Darkmoon Knightess is completely silent and motionless, serving steadfastly as the Fire Keeper for Anor Londo. The Darkmoon Knightess's devotion to Dark Sun Gwyndolin and The Darkmoon Knightess's duty is absolute. The Darkmoon Knightess's only reaction is to become hostile if the player attacks The Darkmoon Knightess or kills the illusion of Gwynevere, thereby revealing The Darkmoon Knightess's allegiance to Gwyndolin and the Darkmoon covenant.
- Primary Locations:
- Anor Londo (Standing beside the first bonfire encountered after arriving via the Bat Wing Demons).
Giant Blacksmith
- Affiliation: Anor Londo (Servant to the Gods)
- Role: NPC, Blacksmith (Boss Soul Weapons, Crystal, Lightning upgrades), Merchant (Titanite materials)
- Appearance: The Giant Blacksmith is an enormous Giant, even larger than Hawkeye Gough, with tanned skin and wearing a simple leather blacksmith's apron. The Giant Blacksmith sits perpetually at The Giant Blacksmith's anvil in a large chamber within Anor Londo, diligently working with The Giant Blacksmith's massive hammer.
- Personality: The Giant Blacksmith speaks in simple, broken sentences with a deep, booming voice ("You talk... I smith."). The Giant Blacksmith seems single-mindedly focused on The Giant Blacksmith's craft, showing little interest in conversation or the outside world. Despite The Giant Blacksmith's limited vocabulary and apparent simplicity, The Giant Blacksmith is a master smith capable of forging unique weapons from the souls of powerful beings and performing advanced Crystal and Lightning infusions. The Giant Blacksmith is generally peaceful unless attacked but The Giant Blacksmith will defend The Giant Blacksmith's self with surprising ferocity, using The Giant Blacksmith's hammer as a weapon.
- Primary Locations:
- Anor Londo (In a large side chamber accessible via the main hall, near the Ornstein & Smough boss room entrance).

NPC questlines
Remember the event triggers and story flows for the main NPC questlines:
- Solaire of Astora
- Flow & Triggers:
- Undead Burg: First encounter after the Taurus Demon, near the Hellkite Dragon bridge entrance. Exhaust his dialogue; agree to cooperate to receive the White Sign Soapstone.
- Anor Londo: Found at the bonfire inside the main castle after the archers. Exhaust dialogue.
- Sunlight Altar (Undead Parish): Optional. Found praying at the altar behind the Hellkite Dragon bridge. Exhaust dialogue. Can join Warrior of Sunlight covenant here (requires 25 Faith, reduced by 5 per successful co-op summon).
- Lost Izalith Shortcut: This is the critical step to save Solaire. After defeating the Centipede Demon, do not- proceed into Lost Izalith immediately. Join the Chaos Servant covenant (rank +2 requires 30 Humanity) and open the shortcut door between Demon Ruins (near Demon Firesage entrance) and Lost Izalith (near Bed of Chaos).
- Kill the Sunlight Maggot: Enter the shortcut passage and kill all 9 Chaos Bugs. The specific Sunlight Maggot (distinguished by red eyes and dropping the item) must- be killed before Solaire reaches this area. Killing it ensures Solaire does not go Hollow.
- Lost Izalith (Main Path): If the Sunlight Maggot was not- killed via the shortcut before- Solaire reaches this point, he will be found wearing it, hostile and Hollow.
- Kiln of the First Flame: If saved, Solaire's summon sign will be available just before the final boss fight against Gwyn, Lord of Cinder.
- Outcomes:
- Saved: Can be summoned for the final boss. Fulfills his quest to find his own "sun". Drops his gear (Sunlight Straight Sword, Shield, Iron Helm, Armor, Gauntlets, Leggings) + White Sign Soapstone + Humanity x2 if killed by the player at any point before going Hollow.
- Hollow: Found hostile in Lost Izalith. Drops Sunlight Maggot, Humanity x2, and his gear (minus helmet) upon defeat. Cannot be summoned for Gwyn.
- Siegmeyer & Sieglinde of Catarina
- Flow & Triggers (Siegmeyer):
- Undead Parish/Sen's Fortress: Found sitting outside the closed gate of Sen's Fortress. Exhaust dialogue.
- Sen's Fortress: Found sitting on a ledge inside, overlooking the boulder path. Talk to him. Change the boulder direction using the nearby lever so it doesn't hit his location. Talk again.
- Anor Londo: Found in a room with three Silver Knights. Kill the knights without hitting Siegmeyer. Talk to him; he gives the Tiny Being's Ring.
- Firelink Shrine: Found near the bonfire after placing the Lordvessel. Answer "Yes" to his question about opening the gates of Sen's Fortress. He gives the Emit Force miracle.
- Blighttown: Found in the swamp near the entrance to The Great Hollow, asking for Purple Moss Clumps. Give him 3 (or 4 if you talk multiple times). He gives the Pierce Shield.
- Lost Izalith: Found in a room above a pit filled with Chaos Eaters. Critical Step: Talk to him. He will jump down to fight them. You MUST jump down and help kill ALL BUT ONE Chaos Eater before Siegmeyer's health drops below 50%. If successful, talk to him again. He gives the Speckled Stoneplate Ring. If you kill all Chaos Eaters before he jumps, or if his health drops too low, or if you let him die, the quest fails here for the best outcome.
- Flow & Triggers (Sieglinde):
- The Duke's Archives: Found trapped inside a Golden Crystal Golem in the garden area after the first Seath encounter. Defeat the golem to free her. Talk to her; tell her you've seen her father.
- Firelink Shrine: Found near the bonfire after freeing her. Tell her you saw her father in Lost Izalith (if applicable based on Siegmeyer's progress).
- Ash Lake: Final encounter location. If Siegmeyer survived Lost Izalith (with >50% health), Sieglinde will be found standing over his corpse near the first bonfire. Talk to her; she confirms he fulfilled his final duty and gives you a Titanite Slab.
- Outcomes:
- Success: Receive various items throughout (Tiny Being's Ring, Emit Force, Pierce Shield, Speckled Stoneplate Ring). Final reward is a Titanite Slab from Sieglinde in Ash Lake.
- Failure (Siegmeyer dies/quest diverges): Miss out on later rewards, including the Titanite Slab. If Siegmeyer dies in Lost Izalith, Sieglinde may still appear at Firelink but won't move to Ash Lake.
- Knight Lautrec of Carim
- Flow & Triggers:
- Undead Parish: Found imprisoned in a cell on the upper level of the church. Free him using the Mystery Key (found elsewhere in Parish) or Master Key.
- Firelink Shrine: Moves opposite Anastacia (the Fire Keeper) after being freed. If freed after defeating the Bell Gargoyles, he gives a Sunlight Medal. Can be killed here for his Ring of Favor and Protection (but fails quest).
- Fire Keeper Murder: Anastacia is killed by Lautrec. This happens after either:
- Ringing both Bells of Awakening (Undead Parish and Quelaag's Domain).
- Collecting the Fire Keeper Souls in Undead Parish AND Blighttown (before ringing the second bell).
- Obtain Black Eye Orb: Loot Anastacia's cell to find her gear and the Black Eye Orb.
- Anor Londo: In the large hall before the Ornstein & Smough boss fight, the Black Eye Orb will begin to vibrate. Use it here to invade Lautrec's world as a spirit of vengeance.
- Defeat Lautrec: Kill Lautrec and his two phantoms in the invasion. You receive the Fire Keeper Soul (Anastacia's), Lautrec's Ring of Favor and Protection, and Humanity x5.
- Return Fire Keeper Soul: Return to Anastacia's cell at Firelink Shrine and use the soul to restore her life and the Firelink bonfire.
- Lautrec's Armor: Find Lautrec's Armor Set (Armor of Favor) on a corpse upstairs in the Ornstein & Smough boss room after defeating him.
- Outcomes:
- Success: Restore the Firelink Fire Keeper, gain Ring of Favor and Protection, Fire Keeper Soul, Humanity, and Lautrec's armor set.
- Failure (Kill Lautrec early): Gain his ring immediately but lose access to the invasion, armor set, and the quest content. Firelink bonfire remains inactive unless revived by another Fire Keeper Soul (not Anastacia's specific one).
- Reah of Thorolund, Petrus, Vince & Nico
- Flow & Triggers:
- Firelink Shrine: Meet Petrus of Thorolund. Can join Way of White covenant and buy basic Miracles.
- Firelink Shrine: After defeating the Capra Demon, Reah, Vince, and Nico arrive at Firelink Shrine near Petrus. Talk to Petrus; he mentions their mission to the Catacombs.
- Move to Catacombs: The group leaves Firelink after either:
- You defeat Pinwheel in the Catacombs.
- You purchase all of Petrus's initial stock (optional dialogue trigger).
- You defeat Nito or the Bell Gargoyles and Gaping Dragon (less common triggers).
- Petrus Returns Alone: Petrus reappears alone at Firelink. Talking to him reveals ominous hints about Reah. Optional: Kill Petrus now to prevent him possibly killing Reah later, but this may lock you out of his merchant inventory if not already purchased. Lautrec also warns you about Petrus if spoken to.
- Tomb of the Giants: Find Reah trapped in the pit where Patches kicks you down (or find the alternate path down). Her former bodyguards, Vince and Nico, are now Hollow and hostile nearby. Kill them.
- Rescue Reah: Talk to Reah after killing Hollow Vince and Nico. She gives the Replenishment miracle. She states she will leave soon.
- Undead Parish: Reah moves to the altar in the Undead Parish church where you first found the Fire Keeper Soul. She sells advanced Miracles, including Wrath of the Gods. Crucial: Buy everything you want from her quickly!
- Petrus Kills Reah: If you did not kill Petrus earlier, he will eventually kill Reah in the Undead Parish church if you leave and reload the area too many times (or progress main bosses like Seath/Nito). Her corpse will have 7 Humanity and an Ivory Talisman.
- Duke's Archives: If Reah is not killed by Petrus and you buy all her miracles (including Wrath of the Gods), she will eventually move to The Duke's Archives prison and turn Hollow. Defeating her here yields 7 Humanity and the Ivory Talisman.
- Outcomes:
- Best (Access Miracles): Rescue Reah, kill Petrus before he kills her (or manage area reloads carefully), buy all miracles from her in the Undead Parish church. She eventually goes Hollow in Duke's Archives.
- Reah Dies (Petrus): Petrus kills Reah in the Parish church. Miss out on buying miracles if not done already.
- Reah Dies (Player): Killing Reah yields Humanity and Ivory Talisman but prevents buying her miracles.
- Petrus Survives: He remains a merchant at Firelink if not killed.
- Big Hat Logan & Griggs of Vinheim
- Flow & Triggers (Griggs):
- Lower Undead Burg: Found locked in a house before the Capra Demon. Requires Residence Key (sold by Undead Merchant Male) or Master Key to free him.
- Firelink Shrine: Moves here after being freed. Sells basic Sorceries and catalyst/rings. Asks about Logan. Tells you Logan is in Sen's Fortress if you have 10+ Intelligence.
- Flow & Triggers (Logan):
- Sen's Fortress: Found locked in a hanging cage. Requires Cage Key (found in Sen's Fortress near the Crestfallen Merchant) or Master Key. Redirect the boulder mechanism to break the wall leading to his cage area. Free him.
- Firelink Shrine: Moves near Griggs after being freed. Sells more advanced Sorceries (requires 15+ Intelligence to buy from him).
- The Duke's Archives (Prison): After placing the Lordvessel and reaching the Archives, Logan is found imprisoned in a large cell with Archive Hoplites. Requires Archive Tower Giant Cell Key (found in a chest in the Archives near the shortcut ladder). Free him.
- The Duke's Archives (Library): Moves to a small room near the bonfire after the prison break. Sells his most powerful crystal sorceries. Crucial: You must buy all spells he sells here to make him progress further.
- Defeat Seath the Scaleless: You must defeat Seath in the Crystal Cave.
- Logan Goes Hollow: Return to the room where Logan sold crystal sorceries. He will be gone. Go to Seath's original boss room in the Archives (the first, unwinnable encounter location). Logan will be there, hostile and Hollow (wearing only his hat). Defeat him.
- Loot: Defeating Hollow Logan drops the White Dragon Breath sorcery, Big Hat, and Logan's Catalyst / Tin Crystallization Catalyst (depending on previous interactions/drops). Return to the library room where he sold spells; a chest will contain the rest of his armor set (Sage Robe, Traveling Gloves, Traveling Boots).
- Outcomes:
- Success: Gain access to nearly all sorceries in the game, Logan's gear, White Dragon Breath.
- Failure: Failing to free him or buy all his crystal spells prevents him from going Hollow and locks you out of his final spell and drops. Griggs will eventually go Hollow in Sen's Fortress if you buy all his spells and don't progress Logan's quest.
- Laurentius of the Great Swamp
- Flow & Triggers:
- The Depths: Found trapped inside a barrel in the Butcher's area. Roll into the barrel to free him (do not attack). Exhaust dialogue; answer "Yes" when he asks if you desire pyromancy.
- Firelink Shrine: Moves near the main bonfire path. Upgrades the Pyromancy Flame and teaches basic pyromancies.
- Triggering Departure: If you acquire a Chaos Pyromancy spell (e.g., from Quelaag's Soul) or meet Quelana of Izalith in Blighttown (requires Pyromancy Flame +10) and then talk to Laurentius, he will ask where you found such flame.
- Tell Him: If you tell him about Quelana/Blighttown ("Yes" to his question), he will leave Firelink Shrine in search of her.
- Blighttown: Laurentius is later found Hollow and hostile in the swamp near Quelana's typical location. Defeating him drops nothing significant.
- Outcomes:
- Stays at Firelink: If you never acquire Chaos pyromancy or meet Quelana, OR if you meet them but answer "No" when Laurentius asks, he remains safely at Firelink Shrine as your Pyromancy Flame upgrader and basic pyromancy vendor for the entire game.
- Goes Hollow: If you tell him about Blighttown, he leaves Firelink permanently and eventually becomes hostile in Blighttown. You lose him as an upgrader/merchant.
- Quelana of Izalith
- Flow & Triggers:
- Blighttown: Appears sitting against a stone column in the swamp (between the bonfire tunnel and Quelaag's Domain entrance) only if your Pyromancy Flame is upgraded to +10 or higher (Laurentius or Eingyi can do this).
- Merchant & Trainer: Sells advanced Pyromancies and can ascend the Pyromancy Flame further.
- Request: After you place the Lordvessel, she may ask you to free the Witch of Izalith (her mother) by defeating the Bed of Chaos.
- Reward: If you fulfill her request (defeat Bed of Chaos) and speak to her again before defeating Gwyn, she will reward you with the powerful Fire Tempest pyromancy.
- Outcomes:
- Gain access to powerful Pyromancies and further Flame upgrades.
- Potentially receive Fire Tempest. If you don't meet the +10 Flame condition, she never appears. If you don't talk to her after Bed of Chaos before Gwyn, you miss Fire Tempest.
- Patches
- Flow & Triggers:
- The Catacombs: Encountered near a lever before the second rotating bridge. He asks if you are a Cleric.
- If "Yes": He pulls the lever immediately, rotating the bridge to try and drop you.
- If "No": He waits until you cross the bridge, then pulls the lever.
- Tomb of the Giants: Found near the first bonfire. He asks if you are looking for treasure, then kicks you into a pit with Reah and Hollow Vince/Nico.
- Survive and Confront: Climb out of the pit and find Patches again nearby.
- Forgive him ("Yes"): He apologizes, gives Humanity, and becomes a merchant later.
- Do Not Forgive ("No"): He remains hostile/non-interactive here.
- Firelink Shrine: If forgiven in Tomb of the Giants after Nito is defeated, Patches moves to Firelink Shrine (near Frampt's location) and becomes a merchant selling useful items (including Masks of the Father/Mother/Child if not dropped by Pinwheel, Humanity).
- The Catacombs: Encountered near a lever before the second rotating bridge. He asks if you are a Cleric.
- Outcomes:
- Forgiven: Patches becomes a valuable late-game merchant at Firelink Shrine.
- Not Forgiven / Killed: Miss out on his merchant inventory. If killed, drops Humanity and Crescent Axe.
- Kingseeker Frampt & Darkstalker Kaathe (Primordial Serpents)
- Flow & Triggers:
- Ring Both Bells: After ringing the Bell of Awakening in Undead Parish and Quelaag's Domain, Kingseeker Frampt appears at Firelink Shrine.
- Frampt Interaction: Talks about the prophecy, instructs you to get the Lordvessel from Anor Londo. Can "feed" him items in exchange for souls.
- Obtain Lordvessel: Defeat Ornstein & Smough in Anor Londo and speak to Gwynevere.
- Crucial Choice Point:
- Path A (Frampt): Return to Firelink Shrine, speak with Frampt. He takes you to the Firelink Altar. Place the Lordvessel on the altar. Frampt remains available. This locks you out of meeting Kaathe.
- Path B (Kaathe): Do not speak to Frampt after getting the Lordvessel. Do not place the Lordvessel yet. Go to New Londo Ruins, defeat the Four Kings boss (requires Key to the Seal from Ingward, which requires having the Lordvessel). After the fight, Darkstalker Kaathe appears in The Abyss.
- Kaathe Interaction: Speak with Kaathe. He reveals an alternative perspective on the prophecy. He takes you to the Firelink Altar. Place the Lordvessel. Kaathe becomes available, offering leadership of the Darkwraith covenant. This makes Frampt disappear permanently.
- Outcomes:
- Side with Frampt: Can feed items for souls. Cannot join Darkwraiths. Leads to "Link the Fire" ending by default.
- Side with Kaathe: Can join Darkwraith covenant (allows invading other players, grants Dark Hand). Frampt disappears, cannot feed items. Leads to "Dark Lord" ending by default (though either ending is still selectable).

Skills
Skills manifest primarily as Spells (requiring Attunement slots and casting tools) and Unique Weapon Movesets.
- Spell Categories:
Spells require Attunement slots to be equipped ('attuned') at a Bonfire. The number of slots is determined by the Attunement stat. Each attuned spell has a limited number of uses/casts, which are replenished by resting at a Bonfire. Casting speed is slightly increased by Dexterity.
-
A. Sorceries:
- Description: Arcane magic derived from the study of souls. Often involves projectiles, buffs, or utility effects.
- Governing Stat: Intelligence (Int). Higher Int increases Sorcery damage and allows the use of more powerful spells.
- Casting Tool: Catalyst. Different catalysts scale differently with Int.
- Examples:
- Soul Arrow: Fires a basic magic projectile.
- Great Soul Arrow: A stronger version.
- Homing Soulmass: Summons orbs that attack nearby enemies.
- Magic Weapon: Temporarily enchants the right-hand weapon with magic damage.
- Hidden Body: Makes the caster partially invisible.
- Remedy: Cures poison/toxin status.
- Acquisition: Found as treasure, purchased from Sorcery vendors (like Griggs of Vinheim, Big Hat Logan, Rickert of Vinheim), or learned from scrolls given to vendors.
-
B. Pyromancies:
- Description: The art of controlling flame. Unique in that its power isn't directly tied to conventional stats like Int or Faith.
- Governing Stat: None directly for damage. Pyromancy damage scales only with the upgrade level of the Pyromancy Flame casting tool. Attunement is still needed for slots.
- Casting Tool: Pyromancy Flame. Upgraded by Pyromancy trainers using Souls.
- Examples:
- Fireball: Throws a basic ball of fire.
- Combustion: Creates a powerful, short-range burst of flame.
- Iron Flesh: Drastically increases defenses and poise but makes the caster very slow and unable to roll.
- Power Within: Greatly boosts damage output and stamina recovery at the cost of constantly draining HP.
- Poison Mist: Creates a cloud that inflicts Poison.
- Flash Sweat: Reduces fire damage taken.
- Acquisition: Found as treasure, taught by Pyromancy trainers (like Laurentius of the Great Swamp, Quelana of Izalith, Eingyi). Some trainers only appear under specific conditions.
-
C. Miracles:
- Description: Divine magic granted through Faith, often associated with healing, defense, and lightning. Many are linked to Covenants.
- Governing Stat: Faith (Fth). Higher Faith increases Miracle effectiveness (healing amount, damage) and allows the use of more powerful miracles.
- Casting Tool: Talisman. Different talismans scale differently with Faith (this scaling is called 'Magic Adjustment' or 'MagAdjust').
- Examples:
- Heal: Restores a moderate amount of HP.
- Lightning Spear: Hurls a spear of lightning (often associated with the Warriors of Sunlight covenant).
- Force: Creates a shockwave that pushes enemies back (doesn't cause damage).
- Homeward: Returns the caster to the last used Bonfire.
- Seek Guidance: Reveals hidden messages and summon signs.
- Magic Barrier: Increases magic defense temporarily.
- Acquisition: Found as treasure, purchased from Miracle vendors (like Petrus of Thorolund, Rhea of Thorolund), or earned by ranking up in certain Covenants.
- Weapon "Skills" (Unique Movesets):
While not "skills" in the spell sense, many weapons have unique properties or attacks, usually performed with the Strong Attack button (R2/RT).
- Description: These are inherent abilities or attack patterns tied to specific weapons.
- Governing Stat: Varies based on weapon scaling (Strength, Dexterity). Stamina is consumed to perform these attacks.
- Examples:
- Parrying Dagger's Parry: Has a unique, faster parry animation on its R2.
- Dragon Weapon Specials: Many weapons crafted from dragon tails have powerful R2 attacks that consume durability (e.g., Drake Sword shockwave, Moonlight Greatsword energy waves).
- Heavy Weapon Charges: Some heavy weapons have charged R2 attacks that deal massive damage or have wide sweeps.
- Unique Attack Chains: Certain weapons might have R1 or R2 attacks that chain together in specific ways.
- Status Effects: Some weapons inherently inflict Bleed, Poison, Toxin, or Divine/Occult effects on hit.
- Acquisition & Usage Summary:
- Find/Buy/Learn: Acquire the spell item or learn it from an NPC.
- Attune: Equip the spell at a Bonfire, provided you have enough Attunement slots.
- Equip Tool: Equip the correct casting tool (Catalyst, Pyromancy Flame, Talisman) in one of your hands.
- Meet Requirements: Ensure you meet the necessary Int (Sorcery) or Faith (Miracle) stat requirement. Pyromancy has no stat requirement to cast, only Attunement slots.
- Cast: Use the attack button corresponding to the hand holding the casting tool. Each cast consumes one use. Rest at a Bonfire to replenish uses.
