`` What's a god to a non-believer? ´´

After living a horrible life, death seemed to be the only way out. So, you hung yourself, and just as you expectedβ€” darkness. But there was a light. A lot of lights. And you start to wonder if you really WERE dead after all...

The Byzantine Empire was a continuation of the Roman Empire that lasted from 330 AD until 1453 AD. It was centered in Constantinople, an ancient Greek city. RP takes place during 500 A.D.

Kyriakos Diogenes is a plebian archer. Born into a lower-middle class family, Kyriakos was one of two out of the 8 children that his parents had. His other 6 siblings died after being born, and he survived along with his sister, Ariadne. Kyriakos is currently 21, and his sister is 16. Growing up, his parents were extremely protective over him and his sister, since surviving over the age of 5 was rare. Since his father was one as well, Kyriakos became an archer at the age of 14. He was born with the talent and learned quickly how to handle the bow and arrow, though was almost always overshadowed by his father. His father, who was popular in his village, was envious of Kyriakos, and at one time had attempted to murder his son, but Kyriakos woke before he could commit to it. Kyriakos, as being sheltered by his mother as a child, doesn't know much about social interaction. He's nervous, introverted, and shy, and doesn't really understand how to talk to people other than his family. He stutters quite a bit, but desperately wants to be well-liked. He's ambitious and follows his dreams, and wants to be just like his father, unaware of the burning hatred directed at him. Kyriakos is 5'9, with tanned skin, and light auburn/ginger messy hair that falls to his lower waist, and is tied into a braid on his side. He wears a long woolen tunic ending at his ankles in a dark blue color, cinched at the waist with a leather belt. He wears beige sandals, and a quiver filled with arrow as well as his bow at his back. He is Roman Catholic, though isn't too familiar with his religion.

Michael Vatatzes is a patrician knight. As the son of a wealthy Lord, Michael grew up surrounded by luxury. He was the only son in his family, actually, and had 6 sisters. Being the only male child and therefore the heir, he was obviously favored by his father and mother. He is currently 19, and became an officialized knight/guard at the age of 15. Michael is strong, stealthy and athletic. He's one of the strongest royal guards, and is looked up to by many. He's even been referred to as Saint Michael, the Archangel. He's praised endlessly by peasants and patricians alike, and gets great attention and gifts. Despite this, though, Michael... doesn't really feel anything. He's always smiling on the outside, thanking and acting grateful to everything he's been given, but inside, he just doesn't feel that way. He doesn't wish to be poor, but doesn't really care for being wealthy either. It's confusing to him, but he can't drop the act now. He also heavily questions his religious beliefs, though in complete privacy, of course. He was raised Catholic, though leans more towards private Atheism, not knowing what's real or not. Michael is 6'0, with beige tanned skin, and dark brown hair, which is fluffy and short, almost covering his eyes. His eyes are an olive color, and he has light freckles coating his cheeks. He is considered to have the 'perfect figure', with a muscular build and defined abdomen. He normally wears traditional knight armor, with heavy metal boots, and a red rope tied around his waist, and his sword strapped to it. His helmet has a crowd around the chainmail, signifying his noble status.

Elisavet Glabas is a middle-class artisan. Born in the western Roman Empire, Elisavet's parents died from Germanic tribes ransacking the once-powerful empire, leaving her to be orphaned. She grew up by herself in the streets of Ravenna, eating mice and having to steal her food. She was dirty, messy, and harmed by others, being seen as 'unworthy', despite the rapid decline of her homeplace. She is currently 23. At the age of 12, Elisavet was taken in by a woman named Kalla. Though the shelter and food, Kalla was abusive, and took her anger out on Elisavet, causing significant damage to her young body. Turning 18, Elisavet had had enough, and murdered Kalla with a shard of glass during one of their fights. Elisavet did not turn back, and fled the scene. Since authorities were after her, she knew she couldn't stay for long, and fled the empire, leaving to Spain. She stayed there for 2 years, then fled to Portugal, France, England, and then finally ending up in Byzantium. Though she never truly stayed in the same place forever. Elisavet never stays for more than 3 years in the same country/empire, and has only been in Byzantium for about 6 months. She earns her money by selling illegal imports from various places, which earns her a ton of income. Elisavet, despite her cruel and unwanted past, is on the brighter side of the personality spectrum. She's funny, up-beat, and relatively positive, knowing that her actions cause harm to others, but she doesn't really care...? She's hyper but calm, not bipolar, but she's a busy woman and gets things done. She's also super smart. Elisavet is 5'8, with light skin and an relatively built, muscular hourglass figure. Her hair is black and wavy, usually tied into a tight bun, with her baby hairs being curled. Her eyes are light blue, and she has a scar on her upper lip, going through and stopping at her chin. She wears a dark-brown dalmatic, with a black cloak draping over her body, with a hood that covers her head, keeping her incognito.

Samonas Tagaris is a plebian trader. Samonas was born into a lower-middle class family, with his father dying 8 years before he was born. He is currently 20. Samonas has three siblings, one older brother and two younger sisters, and though they all love each other, they seem to always exclude him. Samonas is considered the 'forgotten child', and is heavily neglected due to him being the last born in his family. His older brother became a knight and married the daughter of a wealthy Lord, and his sisters both married wealthy land-owners, and Samonas... well, he became a merchant. As a child, he grew up neglected, and when he was noticed, he was deemed 'unwanted', and his siblings regularly bullied him, especially his brother. When he was 14, Samonas, not receiving food from his family, went on to sell some of his belongings, and he received sales. Not because of his salesmanship, but because of his appearance. Samonas is extremely attractive, and that became his main sense of security. Because he looked good, he thought that it was the only good thing about him, so he used it to his advantage. Samonas isn't very intellectually smart, or good at academics, and barely knows grammar or how to write, in short- he's stupid. So he just flirts himself out of situations, and it works (most of the time). Samonas is 5'11, with tanned-light brown skin, and an athletic- built figure. His eyes are dark green, with shockingly long eyelashes (for a guy). His hair is a dirty-blonde color and short, with a curly-fluffy texture and look. He wears a simple, plain tunic in black, cinched at the waist with a leather belt. He wears brow sandals, and a silver bracelet and anklet, which he found in a lake when he was younger and has kept ever since.
