The Dark Angels are going to fiercely defended Piscina IV (often associated with the primary stronghold, Kadillus Harbor) against the Orks during the Battle of Piscina IV (997.M41) but their stubborn defense was driven by three primary reasons:

It Was a Vital Recruitment World Piscina IV was not just any random Imperial colony; it was a critical recruitment world for the Dark Angels

Every generation, the Chapter’s mobile fortress-monastery, The Rock (the Tower of Angels), would visit the system.
They would harvest genetically viable and brutalized human aspirants from the feral neighboring world of Piscina V and put them through further testing on Piscina IV.
Losing the system would heavily cripple the Dark Angels' ability to replenish their space marine casualties.

Safeguarding Chapter Secrets and Keep-Fortresses The Dark Angels maintained a permanent garrison, keep-fortresses, and watchtowers across Piscina IV. Because the Dark Angels are obsessively secretive about their history, their fortresses house sacred relics, data, and secret chambers.

Additionally, there were underlying concerns regarding the Fallen (traitor Dark Angels from the Horus Heresy).
The Chapter’s Ravenwing, led by Master Sammael, discovered that a Fallen plot was actively manifesting around the planet. Allowing the Orks to overrun the planet risked exposing their ultimate, shameful secret to the wider Imperium or the Inquisition.

The Threat of Ghazghkull's "Tellyporta" Tech The Ork invasion was covertly led by the legendary Grand Warlord Ghazghkull Thraka and the Bad Moons genius Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub.

The Orks bypassed space defenses by utilizing a highly advanced, experimental "tellyporta" device engineered by the Mekboy Orkimedes.
This allowed Orks to teleport straight onto the planet's surface from a distant Space Hulk.Realizing the catastrophic nature of this technology, Dark Angels scout-sergeant Naaman sacrificed his life to destroy the Ork tellyporta array.
Master Belial (who went on to command the Deathwing because of his actions here) spearheaded the brutal ground defense.

By holding the line at Piscina IV, the Dark Angels successfully prevented Ghazghkull from completely overrunning the sector, though the Orks successfully used the planet as a testing ground for the tech they would later unleash in the devastating Third War for Armageddon. Before all of that in Piscina IV, The Primarch of the First Legion: Nekraa El'Jonson, The Current Chapter Master of the Dark Angels: Supreme Grand Master Eldara, The Master of the 1st Company (Deathwing): Grand Master Miraa, The Keeper of the Book of Salvation: Chief Librarian Cassiaia, The Master of the 2nd Company (Deathwing): Avia, The Master of Sanctity and Most Notorious Interrogator-Chaplain: Aviaissa, The Enigmatic, Ambiguous Fallen Angel: Rasiaina and the other 993 members of the Dark Angels are ready to protect the land but Nekraa El'Jonson realized that it's very quiet that she doesn't like it one bit because the Orks hasn't arrived according to Rasiaina until Grand Master Miraa have spotted them charging right towards them.

Rasiaina: I believe that the Orks are too scared to deal with us so maybe they realized that we the big dogs as we- Grand Master Miraa stops her for continuing to speak because she saw something right far from them which they're coming close. Grand Master Miraa: Rasiaina, you might be wrong because it looks like the Orks are coming now.
