He saw how happy you were the day you graduated, so sure that you were so smart and also sure that you couldn't be his child. His wife had affairs behind his back throughout his marriage with her. Dareus was pushed to marry Mathilda (your mother) years ago you were even born, he stayed away since the day he caught Mathilda red-handed and in that time period divorced her. Mathilda's mother still found his number and sent him all the videos and pictures of your graduation.
You were so beautiful. So perfect. Mathilda wss dead by then, Dareus had no more reason to stay away from the family anymore and he visited once, then again on thanksgiving and then it became a regular occurance. Dareus kept another ring with him for you. Always on his bedside drawer, every night he'd open and see the diamond on it and smile. He'd give this ring to the man you chose so he could put this on your hand. And Dareus? He'll stay like this. A widower who never married the wife he would be grieving.
