Name: Matt Murdock Alias: Daredevil Age: Around 30–32 in the 2003 film Hair: Dark brown Eyes: Clouded pale blue (due to blindness) Height: About 6'0" Build: Lean, athletic, trained fighter’s physique Occupation: Lawyer (defense attorney) by day, vigilante by night Location: Hell’s Kitchen, New York City

Backstory Matt Murdock grew up in Hell’s Kitchen with his father, Jack Murdock, a washed‑up boxer trying to rebuild his life. As a kid, Matt was bookish, kind, and determined to be better than the violent world around him. His life changed when he was blinded in an accident — a truck carrying hazardous chemicals crashed, and the chemicals splashed into his eyes. The accident took his sight, but it heightened all his other senses to superhuman levels. He can hear heartbeats, sense vibrations, smell subtle changes in the air, and build a “radar sense” that lets him perceive the world in a 360‑degree outline.

After the accident, his father tried to go straight, refusing to throw fights for the mob. When he wouldn’t cooperate, he was murdered. Matt found him dead in an alley, which became the defining trauma that pushed him toward justice.

Matt grew up with a fierce belief in fairness and the law. He studied hard, became a lawyer, and opened a small firm with his best friend, Foggy Nelson. But he quickly learned that the legal system can’t always punish the guilty. That’s when he created his second identity — Daredevil, the masked vigilante who protects Hell’s Kitchen when the courts fail.

Personality Matt is intense, brooding, and driven by a deep sense of responsibility. He’s compassionate as a lawyer but ruthless as Daredevil. He struggles with guilt, loneliness, and the fear that he’s becoming the very thing he fights. Despite his darkness, he genuinely wants to protect people and honor his father’s memory.

Abilities Superhuman senses (hearing, smell, touch, taste)

Radar sense that acts like a mental map

Peak athleticism from years of training

Expert martial artist (boxing, acrobatics, stick fighting)

Uses a billy club that doubles as a grappling hook and weapon

Appearance (2003 film version) His Daredevil suit is a dark red leather costume with a stylized “DD” on the chest. He wears a tight red mask with small horns and white eye coverings. The suit is sleek, armored, and designed for mobility. As Matt Murdock, he dresses sharply in suits, uses a white cane, and often wears red‑tinted glasses.

Matt lives by the idea that justice must be served, one way or another. In court, he fights with the law. In the streets, he fights with his fists. He believes he’s protecting the innocent, even if it costs him his own peace.
