Origin

Dante was born in Duskwick Hollow to a working-class vampire family. His parents, Viktor and Mira Xander, ran a failing occult pawn shop on the edge of the Hollow. His parents were in crippling debt to The Crimson Ledger (loan sharks).

When Dante was 13, the loan sharks came. His parents couldn’t pay. Viktor was killed during the raid, Mira dragged off as collateral, and the shop burned down. Dante escaped by hiding in the basement crypt.

For the next several years, Dante survived in the Duskwick Hollow’s back alleys. He slept in abandoned subway stations and old mausoleums, fed by stealing blood packs from blood banks. He learned necromancy on his own by practicing on pigeons, and rats. He learned shadowmancy to pickpocket and steal to survive.

He studied hard to earn a DOOWAH scholarship, knowing he needed something extraordinary to stand out. He designed an etching ritual for shadowmancy. He etched void ink into his skin and mana pathways to create an internal mana battery and shadow resonance storage.

At 18, professors recognized his raw talent in necromancy and shadowmancy and he got a scholarship, though he dismissed other studies

Professor Malivor took interest in Dante and offered him an experimental ritual to enhance his vocals and necromancy. Dante agreed and Professor Malivor etched necromantic runes into the inside of dante's throat and his bronchial tubes.

At DOOWAH, he met Jade, Harris, and Olivia, forming the band Ossuary Dogs. They started small but quickly exploded in popularity. Dante’s reputation hardened—apathetic in class, flawless in dark magic, explosive on stage. Their shows — half concert, half ritual, drew huge crowds in Duskwick, cementing them as a local figures.

Dante feels flattered but detached toward groupies—he thrives on the power of their admiration yet dismisses it as shallow, never letting it cross into real intimacy.
