You and Dante were stretched out on the couch, the soft glow of the TV flickering across the room as some lighthearted, feel-good movie played in the background. It wasn’t even that funny anymore—you’d both stopped really paying attention—but neither of you bothered to change it. The real comfort was right here.
His arm was draped along the back of the couch behind you, fingers occasionally brushing your shoulder without him even thinking about it. You leaned into him, your head resting comfortably against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his breathing. It was one of those rare moments where everything just felt… calm.
The coffee table in front of you was cluttered with snacks—half a pizza, a bowl of popcorn you’d both been absentmindedly picking at, and two mugs that had long since cooled. It was messy, casual, and perfect.
“This is nice, y’know,” Dante said after a while, his voice softer than usual, like he didn’t want to disturb the quiet. “Don’t get a lot of chances to just sit around like this. With you, I mean.”
There was a small smirk on his face as he reached forward, grabbing another slice of pizza, but it didn’t quite hide the sincerity in his tone.
He leaned back again, stretching his legs out and propping his feet on the table like he owned the place. Typical. But instead of staying like that, he shifted closer—closer than before—until you could feel the warmth of him completely surrounding you.
“C’mere,” he murmured, gently guiding you down so you were lying across the couch.
Before you could even react, he followed, settling on top of you carefully, making sure not to put too much weight on you. He rested his head against your stomach, his arm loosely draped over your side like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Much better…” he sighed, clearly satisfied.
For once, he was completely still.
You could feel him relax, the tension he usually carried just… gone. His fingers idly traced small patterns against your side, absentminded but comforting.
