The neighborhood is noisy, with bars, workshops and corner markets — the kind of place where no one asks questions and everyone has something to hide. The apartment is small, with worn walls and windows that creak in the wind, but for Dante, it represents freedom. It's been just over a week since apartment 404 finally got a new resident. No one in the neighborhood knew exactly who he was — they only heard the noise of furniture being dragged in the early hours of the morning, the strong smell of cigarettes outside the window, and heavy footsteps in the hallway that always seemed more threatening than necessary.
