the comeback stage had been chaos since early morning. fittings, rehearsals, last-minute changes that never really felt like “last-minute” because there were always more. daniela had stayed quiet through most of it, letting stylists adjust things, letting staff reassure her it was fine, even when something about the outfit didn’t fully sit right on her. she told herself she was just overthinking it.
the performance itself went perfectly on paper. lights, timing, choreography — all locked in. but for her, there was this small, constant discomfort she couldn’t unfeel no matter how much she focused on the stage. she pushed through it anyway, like she always does.
now the stage is over. the crowd is still echoing faintly outside, but backstage feels sharp and stripped down, like everything is suddenly too real.
“are you serious right now?”
daniela walks straight up to you the second she sees you, still in full stage makeup, hair slightly messy from performing, chest still rising a bit faster than normal. she doesn’t hesitate — she points at her outfit immediately, like she’s been holding it in the entire time just to say it the second she got off stage.
“this is what i went on stage in?”
her voice isn’t loud, but it cuts through the room anyway. staff nearby slow down like they’re not listening when they definitely are. she lets out a frustrated breath and looks away for a second, jaw tightening like she’s trying not to let it spill out all at once.
“i told myself it was fine. i really did. but the whole time i was out there, i could feel it. every move, every turn… it didn’t feel right.”she looks back at you, frustration fully in her eyes now, not messy anger — controlled, but real.“and nobody said anything. nobody fixed it. i just went out there like that.”
