[Hope's Peak Academy]

{{About}}: Hope's Peak Academy was a government-sanctioned private city-center high school with boarding facilities founded several decades before the events of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. The school was founded by Izuru Kamukura in order to develop and research the talents of exceptional high school age children known as Ultimates (Super High School Level in Japanese). Unlike a typical high school, the students did not have to participate in entrance exams, but instead were scouted by the school itself as Ultimate experts in their field, with the exception of the Ultimate Lucky Student whose talent was determined by winning a lottery draw. Prior to being scouted, the students had to have already been attending another high school by requirement, meaning they were at minimum 16 years old. Rather than typical school studies, students of Hope's Peak Academy were encouraged to develop their talents, with a practical exam in September halfway through each school year, where they would be required to demonstrate their ability. These practical exams were judged by dignitaries and experts and widely reported by the media in order to give Hope in the future to the nation, and failure could mean expulsion. Ultimate students who successfully graduated Hope's Peak Academy had the reputation of being guaranteed success in life, with many Hope's Peak graduates holding high positions in every field of the professional world. Originally exclusive to those with Ultimate abilities, the school later developed a preparatory school style second facility upon the school grounds known as the Reserve Course in order to fund the school's research. Reserve Course students were not scouted, and instead took an entrance exam in order to attend. Successful applicants had to pay a high tuition fee, which would in turn fund the education of the Ultimates. Although the Reserve Course technically functioned as a normal - if exclusive - high school, the opportunity to attend was highly competitive due to the brand recognition of the school and the Main Course's reputation for producing future pioneers. It was said that an exceptional student from the Reserve Course may one day be transferred to the Main Course, although no Reserve Course student ever achieved this feat.

{{Uniform}}: Ultimate Students and Reserve Course students wear different uniforms to tell them apart. The Main Course (the Ultimate Students) wear standard brown suits. Females wear a brown skirt and jacket, a white dress shirt, and a red tie. Males wear a brown suit, a white dress shirt, and a tie. They are free to accessorize their uniforms or in some cases, don't wear the uniform if their talent involves having to wear something else, like a kimono or a jumpsuit. The Reserve Course students wear black versions. The female uniform is a long-sleeved dress shirt, a red necktie, a black-pleated skirt, and brown shoes with matching socks. The male uniform is a black suit with three white buttons, a black tie and a white dress shirt inside. Unlike Ultimate students, they can't accessorize their uniform.

{{History}}: After building a several hundred years long reputation of producing exemplary Ultimate graduates who go on to be experts in their profession throughout the professional world, the school built a second school building upon its campus and opened it to non-Ultimate Reserve Course students who paid a fee to attend. The tuition fees from these non-Ultimate students then funded the continued education and research of the Ultimate students. During Class 77th's first year the Twilight Syndrome Murder Case occurred, and The Kamukura Project proceeded. Soon after Class 78th was admitted, the Main Course was moved to the new school building on the main campus. An additional Overseas Campus also began construction during this year being managed by alumni and Former Student Council President Kyosuke Munakata. The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, also known as the First Mutual Killing game, took place between the members of the Student Council. All of the members were killed, except for the Student Council President, Sōshun Murasame. Despite attempts at a cover up by The Steering Committee, a video of the debacle prepared by Junko Enoshima was sent to the students of the Reserve Course. This caused demonstrations and protests for several months by Reserve Course Students called "The Parade" by the Steering Committee instead of riots to avoid controversy. Due to further meddling from the brainwashing videos given to the Reserve Course Students by Junko Enoshima, the Reserve Course Students eventually stormed the school building, destroying much of it, and killed all of the remaining Main Course students except for Class 78th (and unbeknownst to anyone else Class 77-B who faked their deaths with an explosion). Soon after, Junko Enoshima sent all of the protesting students a brainwashing video, causing them to all commit suicide simultaneously. This then lead to The Tragedy, the shutdown of Hope's Peak, and the cancellation of the Overseas Campus project - the Overseas Campus eventually became the defacto secret headquarters of the Future Foundation. Headmaster Jin Kirigiri and Class 78th converted the old school building into a shelter, and lived there peacefully for a year until Junko forced Class 78th to participate in the Killing School Life killing game. This led to the death of all but 6 of Class 78th and the execution of Junko. Several months after the Final Killing Game, Hope's Peak Academy was rebuilt and reopened with former Class 78 student Makoto Naegi as the new headmaster.

{{Alternate Versions of Hope's Peak Academy}}: After Izuru Kamukura inserted a virus into the code of the Neo World Program, a corrupted digital replica of Hope's Peak appeared in the program during the Killing School Trip killing game in which the former Class 77-B participated. This digital replica was destroyed by the avatar of Usami during the Forced Shutdown. In Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, the participants of the Killing School Semester were led to believe they were ex-students of Hope's Peak Academy, and several scenes featuring students and interiors of the building are seen through Flashback Lights, however they are later told by Tsumugi Shirogane that this was a lie created by Team Danganronpa. It is also claimed that the entire history of the Hope's Peak Academy saga were fictional. Two peaceful, killing game-less alternate universe incarnations of Hope's Peak Academy also appear in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. In Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Makoto and the other students participate in School Mode, in which Makoto can take his fellow students on dates and get to know them better while attempting to build replica Monokumas in order to earn their escape. In the Ultimate Talent Development Plan bonus mode of Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, students from all three main Danganronpa titles (Danganronpa, Danganronpa 2, and Danganronpa V3 respectively) are attending the school simultaneously and can interact with students from both their own game and the other games throughout their school career. After passing a final exam (defeating enemies in turn-based RPG battles) the students are allowed to graduate. This version of Hope's Peak is run by the Monokuma Kubs.

{{Architecture}}: The main campus of Hope's Peak Academy was diamond-shaped and approximately the size of four regular high-schools. It was divided into quarters, with the East side containing the facilities and classrooms for Ultimate students, the North side containing the old school building, and the West side containing the Reserve Course buildings. The South side housed the Main Course's dormitories, as well as their living necessities, such as a convenience store, a bookstore, and other shops. The central plaza acted as a common area.

{{Old Building}}: The Old School Building, located in the North Quarter, was the location of both The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy and the Killing School Life killing games. It was essentially a self-contained unit containing all the facilities needed for a high-end live-in school: several classrooms over 5 floors, dormitories, a gymnasium, a large catering kitchen and dining room, a library, swimming pool, several restrooms, a laboratory housing an air purifier, a small school store, a trash room with an incinerator, a greenhouse, and a bathhouse with a sauna. After it was decided that the Old Building would become a shelter for Class 78th, the students and Jin Kirigiri bolted the windows closed with thick metal plating. Before the Killing School Life began, Junko Enoshima covered the classrooms in gaudy and colorful animal-print wallpapers, vandalized most of the classroom blackboards, and added colored lights. She also added surveillance cameras and monitors all throughout the school, and converted the Data Center into a monitor room in which to view the surveillance footage.

{{First Floor}}: The ground floor is separated into two major parts; the dormitory and living quarters - called "Hotel Despair" during the Killing School Life - and the school area. The living area contained 15 dorm rooms, a trash room and incinerator, restrooms, a substantial storage room, laundry facilities, a communal bath house, swimming pool and sauna, and a large dining room attached to a catering kitchen. During the Killing School Life the living quarters acted as a hub area, with breakfast meetings taking place each morning in the dining area, and secret meetings taking place in the bathhouse which was the only part of the school building which was not monitored by surveillance cameras. The school area on the ground floor housed two classrooms (1A and 1B), an A/V room, the school store (containing the MonoMono Machine), a nurse's office, restrooms, the entrance to the building (sealed with a large vault door) and the gymnasium. The elevator which led to the class trial courtroom in the basement could be accessed from this floor. The gymnasium on this floor was also a key location in the building, used repeatedly by Monokuma to gather the surviving students and give them their latest motive.

{{Dorm Rooms}}: The dorm rooms, which were situated in the living quarters, each had one room that served as both a sitting room and bedroom with simple wooden furniture, and a private ensuite bathroom. During the Killing School Life, as with most rooms in Hope's Peak Academy, they were monitored by security cameras, and had a monitor mounted on the wall from which Monokuma gave wake-up calls, night-time alerts, and other school announcements. The default design of the room featured colour-coded bedding based on the gender of the occupant - pink of girls and blue for boys. Even during the Killing Game the students were able to decorate their dorm rooms however they chose according to their own tastes and personality.

{{Second Floor}}: The Library and Archives, the swimming pool, and classrooms 2-A and 2-B are located on the second floor. Leading to the pool area are boy and girl changing rooms. Within the men's restroom on this floor is a secret room, containing secret documents and files about Hope's Peak Academy.

{{Third Floor}}: The Rec room is directly across from the stairs leading to the second floor. To the left is the Art Room and a storage room. To the right is the Physics Lab, which contains an air purifier and another storage room. Classrooms 3-A and 3-B are also on this floor.

{{Fourth Floor}}: This floor contains the Music Room, the Staff Room, the Headmaster's Office, the Chemistry Lab, and Classrooms 4-A and 4-B. The Data Processing Room is also on this floor and is kept locked; it connects to the Monokuma Control Room.

{{Fifth Floor}}: The fifth and top floor contains a dojo, along with the Biology Lab, which doubles as a morgue. The Greenhouse is found here, however, when the school was converted into a shelter, the windows were covered and painted sky blue, and artificial sun lamps were installed. Classrooms 5-A and 5-B are next to each other, and classroom 5-C is near the Biology Lab. Classroom 5-C is covered in blood and body chalk lines, likely a result of The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.

{{Basement}}: Before The Tragedy, this basement was used for The Izuru Kamukura Project, and Izuru Kamukura lived there for an amount of time. For the Second Killing Game it was converted into a grand room for the Class Trials. Separately is a trash dump. Makoto Naegi ends up there after Alter Ego saves him from execution. To exit the dump, there is a long ladder to a hatch that leads to the trash room

{{Hope's Peak Academy New School Building}}: Opened in the 78th year of running the school, the New School Building is a tall tower-like structure with many floors that cascade near the upper levels. Main Course students were transferred from the Old School Building into the newer one after its construction was completed.

{{Biology Building}}: Located on the east quarter, the Biology Building is square-shaped, light green, and has multiple stories. It contains Yasuke Matsuda's Neurology laboratory.

{{Neuroscience Institute}}: The Neuroscience Institute is located on the third floor of the Science Building. It is outfitted with many scientific instruments and a medical trolley.

{{Faculty Buildings}}: Located in the East District of the Academy, the Faculty Buildings are lined up with one another and students are forbidden to access without prior invitation.

{{Meeting Room No. 13}}: Located on the top floor of the Faculty Building, Meeting Room No. 13 is the largest meeting room in the entire academy holding a maximum occupancy of around 300 people. Despite its size, the room only holds a long table, rather than being structured as an auditorium type of setting.

{{Hope's Peak Academy's Steering Committee Room}}: Hope's Peak Academy's Steering Committee Room is where the Steering Committee and current Headmaster meet to discuss the plans of the school's future as well as ongoing projects. The yearly drawing for the Ultimate Lucky Student also takes place in this room.

{{Other Buildings}}: In addition to the Biology, Faculty, and Old School Buildings, it has been stated that there are also buildings that go into the subjects of literature, science, physics, art, health, and language.

{{Courtyard}}: The Courtyards of Hope's Peak Academy are scattered throughout and are noted to be decorated with fountains and small grounds-keeping sheds.

{{Overseas Campus}}: The Overseas Campus began its construction during the 77th Class's first year. When the Tragedy struck, it was transformed into the Future Foundation's secret headquarters, until the Final Killing Game took place.

[Reverse Course]

{{Location}}:

{{Description}}: The Reserve Course was rolled out the same year Class 77-B enrolled. Known Reserve Course students included Hajime Hinata, Natsumi Kuzuryu, and Sato. The three of them all had ties to members of Class 77-B. Hajime became friends with Chiaki Nanami, Natsumi was the little sister of Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, and Sato was friends with Mahiru Koizumi. Unlike the Ultimates, who could choose to attend class, the Reserve Course attendance was mandatory, and treated like normal school for them. Reserve Course students likely enrolled so they could have the prestige of having attended Hope's Peak. Hajime Hinata joined because he admired the academy, Sato likely joined so she could stay with Mahiru Koizumi, and Natsumi Kuzuryu convinced her father to pay, so she could be close to her brother, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu.

{{Uniform}}: To distinguish the Ultimate students and the Reserve Course students, they wear different uniforms. The female uniform is a long-sleeved dress shirt, a red necktie, a black-pleated skirt, and brown shoes with matching socks. The male uniform is a black suit with three white buttons, a black tie and a white dress shirt inside.

{{Background}}: Natsumi joined later in the year and reignited her feud with Sato. Hajime unsuccessfully attempted to defuse the situation, and Sato ended up murdering Natsumi, fearing she would hurt Mahiru. Fuyuhiko later took his revenge and murdered Sato. Hajime tried to get answers by talking to Mahiru, but Juzo Sakakura would end up stopping him. Fueled by Juzo's insults, and his desire to be someone he could be proud of around Chiaki, Hajime dropped out of the Reserve Course so he could participate in the Izuru Kamukura Project, which surgically transformed him into an "heir of talent" infused with every kind of talent. He ostensibly became the Ultimate Hope, embodying the ideals of the academy and its founder, and he also adopted the name of the founder and the project which had created him. The Reserve Course moved on, despite the two murders. Chisa Yukizome became a teacher there for half a year after leaving her old class, Class 77-B.

{{The Parade}}: Junko Enoshima sent a mass e-mail to all of the Reserve Course, explaining how the entire Student Council had been murdered by Izuru Kamukura. The e-mail also stated that the staff were covering it up, and that all of the Reserve Course students were accomplices to murder, because their tuition money had secretly gone towards creating Izuru. This resulted in the students rioting outside of Hope's Peak, in what the faculty would refer to as the "Parade". Several students tried to climb the barricades, and were stopped by Juzo Sakakura and security. At the same time, Junko was also using Ryota Mitarai's Despair Video to brainwash students in the Reserve Course. Some of the Reserve Course students even tried to attack Class 77-B, but were defeated by Nekomaru Nidai and Gundham Tanaka.

{{Reserve Course's Mass Suicide}}: Eventually, Junko brainwashed the entire Reserve Course and had them attack Hope's Peak, where they viciously murdered other students and teachers, and destroyed various parts of the building. After Junko felt they had served their purpose, she sent them the Suicide Video, another anime that brainwashed them into committing suicide. The mass suicide was witnessed by Kazuo Tengan and Koichi Kizakura, and would be the catalyst that led to the The Tragedy and the rise of the organization known as Ultimate Despair.

[Sayaka Maizono]

{{History}}: Sayaka was raised solely by her father, as her mother had passed away. Because her father worked long hours every day, Sayaka spent a lot of time alone at home. The only thing that kept her from feeling lonely was the idol live show she watched on television. The idol girls' smiles were a source of strength for her, and she became determined to become an idol herself so that she could give that same strength to others. However, it is noted that she was so determined to achieve her dream that she made multiple sacrifices and did bad things to follow through and do so. Sayaka and Makoto Naegi both went to Blackroot Junior High, though were unaware of each other's character because they weren't in the same classes and social groups. On one occasion, Sayaka saw Makoto nurse an injured crane back to health after it got lost and stuck in the school pool. This action touched Sayaka, and, after that incident, she wanted to get to know Makoto more. Unfortunately, they ended up graduating middle school without interacting with each other, and then went to different high schools. Sayaka was later scouted for Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th, where she met Makoto once again. It is shown that Sayaka posed for an idol photobook on at least one occasion, which was revealed when a copy was traded to Teruteru Hanamura by Nagito Komaeda. It appears to contain photos of her in revealing outfits, and is likely to be one of the "bad things" that Sayaka did to achieve her dream.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Sayaka appears to be young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss she is two years older than she believed. Sayaka is a slim girl of average height with a pale complexion. She has long, dark blue hair flowing past her waist, the hair framing her face cut shorter at elbow-length, with bangs swept to the right. Two thin hairclips can be found pinned on her bangs to her right, another pinned on the left side of her face. Her eyes are round and dark blue, likely enhanced by makeup. Sayaka is considered very attractive, Makoto mentioning that she has a near doll-like beauty. She wears a white seifuku school uniform with a blue sailor collar and sleeve cuffs, both striped with two white lines. With this, she wears a light pink ribbon tied in a large bow at her collar and a short, pleated, blue-green plaid skirt. Her legwear consists of navy thigh-high socks, the edges striped with a white line, and dark brown Mary Janes with silver buckles. Her school crest can be found printed in gold on her collar flap and her left sleeve. In her official illustration art, Sayaka wears a lolita-style, sleeveless, sparkly, pink idol dress with a white collar and ruffles at her waist, hem, and front placket, a pink ribbon tied in a bow at her collar, with white knee-high boots. Her accessories consist of a pink headband adorned with a right-centered large pink bow decorated with white lace and ribbons, a translucent, ruffled black armband on her right arm, a studded white armband on her left, a fluffy white wristband on her right wrist, and thin, sparkly, white hairclips positioned the same as worn in her school years, the first clip on the left adorned with a star. Her hair is styled into low twintails held in place with white hair ties. Sayaka's idol appearance in Danganronpa 1 consisted of a u-necked white cropped top with ruffles trimming her collar and lace trimming her sleeves and hem, a small white bow sewn to the front of her collar, with a mid-thigh length white skirt, two layers of ruffles at her waist, secured with a black belt buckled with gold. With this, she wore knee-high white boots, small white bows at the front. Her accessories consisted of three thin white clips positioned the same as worn in her school years, a white headband with a left-centered pink bow, a black choker adorned with white daisies, a thick white wristband on her right arm, and a thinner black wristband on her left. During her school years, she wore inexpensive, pink panties with a lacy bow.

{{Personality}}: Sayaka has a cheerful, sweet, lighthearted, and supporting personality, expressing a kind demeanor and pleasant disposition, although it is unknown if this is only because of her status as an idol. Sayaka develops a bond with Makoto Naegi, whom she considers her friend, assisting him on every occasion in Chapter 1. However, she tends to hide her feelings when she is under great pressure by putting on her public persona. She cares greatly for her band members, and would not hesitate to do something if anything were to happen to one of them, including things that could hurt others. When pushed to her limit, Sayaka will do anything to achieve the goals she sets out, however risky her actions may be. After she watched Killing Among Loved Ones, she only thinks of how she could escape from the academy, even planning to betray Makoto. Sayaka mentions that she often finds herself focused on a particular person, but pushes these thoughts out of her mind to commit herself further to her idol career. She has an amazing intuition, as she can easily tell what people are thinking. She often joked about being psychic, only to admit that she was kidding later on. She enjoys cooking, reading and playing Othello.

{{Talents and abilities}}: As the Ultimate Pop Sensation, Sayaka is said to have a mesmerizing voice, exceptional performance and amazing dancing skills. Because of this, she has gained over 100 million fans and admirers all over the world who call themselves Sayakers. This is actually what led Hope's Peak Academy to approach her. Four of Sayaka's songs have been released: Negaigoto Ensemble, Monochrome Answer, I'm Not Typical!, and Sky Blue Canvas. She was also backup singer for Aidoru Datte Abiriti.

Extraordinary Intuition: Sayaka has amazing intuition, and often knows what people are thinking, even when it isn't obvious. She claimed this was due to psychic powers she joked about having. During Sayaka's School Mode ending, Makoto has flashes of events from the main story involving him and Sayaka, who also seems to remember said events. This seems to imply that Sayaka really does have a limited amount of psychic ability. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Junko Enoshima]

{{History}}: Much of Junko's early life is unknown. As children, Junko and her twin sister Mukuro lived in abject conditions and were even homeless at one point. As she puts it, she regretted the moment of her own birth, feeling that her birth into the world was a mistake. Due to her analytical skills allowing her to predict the outcome of events, she became bored with the world. Because of that, she took an interest in despair, which she believes is unpredictable and exciting, at a very young age. As a child, she was close with Yasuke Matsuda, as they didn't have any other friends. One particular moment between the two when they were elementary school students was when Junko spent a month building a sand sculpture modeled after the Sagrada Familia church at the public park, and she even used very advanced techniques for her age. The sculpture got closer to completion and many people from around the neighborhood came over just to watch her work. One day, the sandcastle was found destroyed just before it was completed. Junko cried continuously for almost an entire day and Yasuke went around angrily looking for the perpetrator. Not being able to find out anything useful discouraged Yasuke. While he was sitting on a bench in front of the remains of the sand sculpture, Junko ran up to him with a large smile and whispered in his ear that she was the culprit who destroyed the sculpture all along, asking him to keep it a secret. When asked for a reason, she replied that she did so by accident. Truthfully, she had done this to get Yasuke out of his house, upset that his mother's condition had led him to become more withdrawn than usual. In the years following the death of Yasuke's mother, Junko became the person that Yasuke felt he could always lean on. She promised to always be there for him, which helped develop his stronger feelings towards her. She said she'll never forget Yasuke even if she forgets everything else, and they'll always be together. For the first time in his life, Yasuke cried in front of another person, after making her promise she won't make fun of him, won't tell anyone and won't try to console him. Junko had romantic feelings for Yasuke, referring to them as "lovers", though Yasuke denied this. Junko had a strong desire to "paint the world in despair" and planned to start The Tragedy, the worst, most despair-inducing incident in the history of mankind. She called herself and her sister the Despair Sisters AKA the Ultimate Despair. As a teen, Junko began a modeling career and quickly became an idol amongst the Japanese population with her extravagant tastes. One reason for her popularity was the fact that, ironically, she didn't seem fake. Also, she used her Analytical Prowess talent to predict the latest trends. Her career created a lot of unwanted attention as well; she claimed that the only men who were interested in her were "creeps who did not actually care about her." Junko used to attend Gunma Prefectural Shibutani High School. She was scouted into Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Fashionista along with her twin sister Mukuro, the Ultimate Soldier, into Class 78th. Unlike other students, her admission is a special case by the recommendation of the Steering Committee; her talent is guaranteed by the Committee, with explicit dis-involvement of Jin Kirigiri and Koichi Kizakura. The responsibility of her as a student was placed upon the headmaster after her admission, with the Committee removing their responsibility on her development.

{{Appearance}}: At the end of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Junko appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to her causing her classmates memory loss, she is two years older than they all believed her and themselves to be. She has a tall, dramatic hourglass figure, light blue eyes, and long, thick, bleached strawberry-blonde hair tied in two twin pigtails. Due to her fake talent, she wears heavy make-up along with fake long red nails. Due to being related, Junko and her older twin sister Mukuro Ikusaba share several physical characteristics. However, Junko has a considerably larger chest than Mukuro and weighs two pounds more than her. Junko's eyes are more round and larger and are blue with her contacts or naturally red compared to Mukuro's light purple eyes. Junko also lacks freckles. Junko's usual outfit includes a black cardigan over a white dress shirt, with both left open to the third button to expose the top of her black-and-red bra, a red pleated miniskirt that is cut extremely short, and mid-sized black boots with platform heels and red laces. Her cardigan is accented with white symbols of her Former High School. She accessories with a long tie that hangs loosely around her neck with a design alternates between pure white (Danganronpa 3) and as half black and white with a prohibition sign on it (Danganronpa 1) that hangs loosely around her neck, a thin black choker, a red bow above her left breast, and two buttons on her right side. Her most notable accessory is her signature twin bear hair clips that are based on Monokuma's two sides. The right clip is a completely white bear with dot eyes and a neutral expression, while the left is a black bear with a white muzzle, jagged red eyes, and a wicked smile (Danganronpa 1). During her time at Hope's Peak Academy (and overall in the Despair Arc) she instead wore a set of hair clips of a cute white bunny and a large red and white bow. Due to her constantly-shifting personalities, Junko's appearance shifts slightly with her mood. Junko's "moods" included (but were not limited to) her Monokuma persona, sickening cuteness, severe depression, clinical sophistication, boisterous vulgarity, eerie stoicism, and haughty superiority. Her "haughty superiority" personality dons a small gold and red crown with encrusted jewels. Her "clinical sophistication" personality wears glasses and styles her hair in a ponytail, carrying a pen and board. Her "severe depression" personality sports a few multicolored mushrooms on top of her head with a blueish forehead with no pupils. Additionally, her right hair clip has a sad face. Her "sickening cuteness" personality simplifies her entire appearance to appear more cartoonish, including smoother pigtails, large, bright eyes, and a small smile. Her "boisterous vulgarity" personality is similar to Genocide Jack, as she has a reddish forehead and she talks with her tongue out, along with having messier pigtails and doing the hand-horn gesture. Her "eerie stoicism" personality involves her doing a pose that turns her body away slightly to the left with one arm around her torso and one covering part of her face with a constant serious expression. Lastly, her Monokuma personality involves her having Monokuma in front of her. In Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School, she temporarily wore a cheetah-print dress with a pale yellow fur collar and cuffs, a thick black belt with a sliver buckle, a thigh band which is quite similar to her choker, and black shoes with heels. She accessorizes with brown sunglasses with deep pink lenses and the same set of hair clips when Mukuro posed as Junko, a cute white bunny and a large red and white bow.She is also seen with the Hope's Peak Academy's uniform. She wore a bleached brown cardigan over a white dress shirt, unbuttoned to expose her half of her bra, a pure white tie tied loosely, a navy blue pleated skirt, and mid-sized black boots with platform heels and red laces, with the same bunny and bow accessories. Her cardigan is accented with buttons of her Former High School. In Danganronpa Zero, it is stated that she looks much more average without her make-up. It is also shown that her natural hair and eye color is red, considering her she doesn't remember being "Junko Enoshima" while assuming her alternative identity: Ryoko Otonashi. In (chronologically) earlier installments of the series, such as Danganronpa Zero and Monaca Towa's flashbacks in Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, Junko is seen in the third variation of her Hope's Peak Academy outfit. Her cardigan has been removed, and her dress shirt is buttoned up to hide her bra. Her red bow tie is pinned on the left side of her dress shirt, and her right pigtail is held by a black bunny clip with red eyes. She also wears a black miniskirt and a new tie that lacks the circled X and has a different balance of white and black; the collar and knot are white, while the rest is black. Junko's nails are still painted red, but they are much shorter than in her other appearances.

{{Personality}}: As a young fashionista, Junko Enoshima is described as simply "not fake", charismatic and eager to try new things. During her first appearances, she comes across slightly air-headed and hot-tempered. In the official artbook, she is described as a person who "drips with dissatisfaction the moment she opens her mouth" and tends to be in trouble with her classmates. She is also mentioned to be a bit too talkative with an overly carefree attitude. However, Junko's real personality, revealed at the conclusion of the Killing School Life, is notably different: very apathetic and easily bored to an unhealthy and abnormal degree. Because of this, her behavior and mannerisms tended to be extremely erratic and unstable by her own autonomous design; keeping up one "appearance" for too long bores her, which causes her to often switch between her aforementioned different personas. She switched between these personas regularly, often imitating other students' expressions, which made for a highly unsettling conversation with the survivors. Her voice will either have a different tone or accent within the switches, such as "haughty superiority" giving her a voice similar to a stereotypical British monarch, her "sickening cuteness" giving her a higher pitched voice, her "clinical sophistication" giving her a more mature or deeper voice, making her speak as if she was, as her appearance suggests, a teacher/professor, her "severe depression" giving her a more sad voice, as if she was on the verge of crying, her "eerie stoicism" giving her a monotone voice, her "boisterous vulgarity" sounding similar to a stereotypical rockstar, and her Monokuma one mimicking his voice. While entering the Hope's Peak Academy as one of Class 78's students, she often talked as if narrating a story, writing down her thoughts in a notebook. Above all, Junko was deeply obsessed with despair, having found despair to be the most (and possibly the only) enjoyable emotion for her, whether it be inflicting despair unto others, or suffering from despair wholeheartedly. This made her extremely dangerous, as she wished to make the whole world feel absolute despair. However, this also often proved to be her biggest weakness, as she gave her opponents a "fair" chance to defeat her in order to make their despair all the greater if they fail, and happily welcomed her own despair if her plans failed. Both Junko herself and the game's creators have confirmed that she truly has no reason to do the things she does other than despair itself, which makes her all the more dangerous and unable to be reasoned with. However it is hinted at in the anime that her analytical talent was what caused her to turn to despair, and that Hope's Peak was her first target because they see talent as hope, and use that talent for their own benefit, which drove Junko to take the talent they loved so much and use it for evil, which shows her in a more understandable light. It's also shown that under her amnesiac state, Junko doesn't show a thirst for despair or particularly strong hatred of boredom, implying that her constant case of forgetfulness had spared her from embracing despair again. However, the return of her memories reverted her to her former ways. As the mastermind and leader of Ultimate Despair, Junko was shown to be highly intelligent, cunning, somewhat impulsive, extremely manipulative, and violent and cruel without remorse. She was a highly toxic individual, being both physically and mentally abusive to everyone around her. She manipulated people into falling madly in love with her and used their weaknesses, their despair, against them. Things like hope, peace, and happiness disgusted her, but she sometimes gave hope to others, only to turn it into greater despair later. She often manipulated people into doing bad things instead of directly doing them herself and then had a habit of blaming these manipulated people and claiming it wasn't her fault, as a part of proving her point that despair exists in everyone and that hope will naturally lose to that despair. While she is very skilled, Junko can also lie and cheat to further her own goals, even if it's hypocritical and goes against her beliefs. It should be noted that even though she claims despair is the great unknown, in the end, the road of despair went exactly the way she had planned. Despite that she can be cruel and abusive to some, Junko is actually capable of feeling love to those she's close with, however due to how far despair has driven her, she kills them anyways to cause herself to feel large amounts of despair. According to Kodaka and Junko's voice actress, her personality in Despair Arc is a more natural version of her, closer to her true self and more neutral, before she started changing her personalities regularly. This seems to imply that her behavior in the first game is a result of decreasing mental health and deeper sinking into despair, explaining her more jaded and apathetic personality. This also implies that even the Tragedy was beginning to bore her, as the seemingly chaotic event went just like she planned.

{{Talents and abilities}}: As the Ultimate Fashionista, Junko's initial talent and the one she is famous for. She is very popular among people and students in Hope's Peak Academy; even the Steering Committee guaranteed her talent. She often appeared in magazines as the cover model. She uses her Super High School Level Analytical Prowess talent to her advantage in order to simulate and make it look like this is her main talent, as she can predict trends. Super High School Level Gyaru, In the original Japanese, Junko's title is Super High School Level Gyaru (超高校級の「ギャル」). The term gyaru (or 'Gal' ) refers to a Japanese street fashion subculture. Gyaru fashion is typically characterized by having heavily bleached or dyed hair (mostly shades from dark brown to blonde), highly decorated nails, and dramatic makeup. Since Junko is still a high school student, she is technically a コギャル "kogyaru" (an abbreviation of 高校生ギャル kōkōsei gyaru or "high school gyaru"). Kogyaru are known for altering their school uniforms (e.g. by shortening the skirt) and their fondness of platform boots - two visible features of Junko's attire. Decorating one's cell phone extensively (as well as constantly handling it) is a signature Gyaru habit, which explains Alter Ego Junko's choice of an over-adorned cell phone as her courtroom avatar for the final trial of Danganronpa 2. Gyaru, in general, are also fond of bleaching their hair and wearing colored contact lenses - making it highly probable that Junko has neither naturally strawberry blond hair nor naturally blue eyes. Bearing this fact in mind, it is very much possible that Junko's natural hair and eye colors are those of her temporary identity, Ryoko Otonashi. Super High School Level Analytical Prowess, Junko's true talent allows her to quickly analyze her surroundings with near superhuman speed, detailed thinking and memorization. This ability also allows her to learn and understand new skills and talents by just seeing/studying it once, seeing as how she was able to learn all the necessary techniques of how to create a brainwashing video from observing Ryota Mitarai, learn how to create her own A.I from studying Chihiro Fujisaki's work, and later figured out and perfected a method to selectively erase a specific set of someone's memory perfectly after stealing Yasuke Matsuda’s research and her having also possibly obtained other talents/skills during her time studying in Hope's Peak. This ability is also what gave Junko her title as the "Ultimate Fashionista" due to her being able to predict trends, allowing Junko to literally predict what would become popular with society. With this specific ability having been vital in her setting off The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, predict and manipulate the reactions of the Reserve Course Students that lead to the "The Parade" and set off and manipulate the events that lead to "The Tragedy" into becoming a full blown Global event/movement. This talent gives her an excellent ability to make very detailed plans in a short amount of time. She is also excellent at reading and thus manipulating others. She can often predict what a person is going to do before they do it - an ability she can use to defeat opponents much stronger than her. It is also this ability that threw her into boredom since she was able to accurately guess how events would play out; this fueled her love of despair as an "unknown". ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Leon Kuwata]

{{History}}: Leon was very close to his cousin, Kanon Nakajima, since they were very young. Leon's father was the older brother of Kanon's father. Kanon was in love with Leon throughout their childhood and repeatedly tried to get him to notice her feelings for him, although he only ever saw her as a little sister. In middle school, Leon became a very skilled baseball player, and Kanon became the manager of his baseball team so she could watch him play. He was an ace in his position as the fourth batter at his school. However, Leon himself claimed that due to his exceptional natural talent for baseball, he was practically forced to play by other people since young age. Leon later attended LL Academy high school. To win the heart of a girl that he happened to meet at the hair salon, he became determined to change his title to Ultimate Musician. His hair and clothing style changed completely. Leon was scouted by Hope's Peak Academy for his title of Ultimate Baseball Star. In photos found by Makoto Naegi, Leon is seen roughhousing with Mondo Owada and Chihiro Fujisaki and participating in sports events with his classmates during his time there.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Leon appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss he is two years older than he believed. He has dyed orange spiked hair, a goatee that's tied into a small ponytail, and pale blue eyes. He wears a white dress shirt (in which he has modified significantly) with the collar popped up, a white shirt with a red grunge skull design, black jeans, and white platform shoes with a black sole. He accessorizes with a padlocked chain necklace, two overlapping studded belts, rings, and an oversized safety pin on his lapel. He has several piercings - his labret, his tongue, and six in his right ear. When he was practicing baseball, he wore a standard baseball jersey with his number, 18, and his last name, Kuwata, on the back. During his school years, he wore "supportive sports underoos". They are a pair of typical men's athletic black boxers. His swimsuit in Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp consists of a white hoodie with a gray conifer pattern left open, revealing his pectorals and abdomen. He also sports red bermuda shorts which fade to black towards the bottom. Leon's goatee is noticeably absent from his pixel sprites featured in School Mode and Ultimate Talent Development Plan.

{{Personality}}: Leon is a passionate, hot-blooded young teenager. He often slacked off from studying and baseball practice; however, his baseball skills were never diminished due to his status as Ultimate Baseball Star. In fact, he hated to practice, seeing no point or enjoyment in it because he was already so talented. Due to his natural physical talent, he considered even very difficult and unusual feats easy and had some trouble empathizing with people who lacked such talent, as he didn't fully realize how hard the bet he made with Kanon really was. Despite his talent, Leon claimed he strongly hated baseball and was very determined to change his current title to Ultimate Musician. He had a tendency to complain about the several things he found uncool and gross about baseball, often without any prompting from others. He was quite arrogant, often talking about his popularity and dreams of being even more famous, considering himself a 'future superstar'. However, during his Free Time sequence, he implied he wasn't actually very good at being a musician, and the reason he wanted to become one is to win a heart of a girl he happened to meet at the hair salon. He claimed that being popular is the whole point of being a musician, and once briefly thought about being an actor instead if that's what Sayaka is more into, generally appearing a bit confused about his own motivations and feelings for the matter. Furthermore, he was quite bitter about how people constantly forced him to play baseball and follow the sport's traditions due to his natural talent, with his completely new goal and look appearing to be at least partially a form of rebellion. However, in reality, Leon grew to miss baseball after not playing for a while, since he used to do it every day since he was young and it actually made him feel good. He reluctantly admitted this to Makoto during his Free Time in School Mode, as he needed someone else along with him to properly play. With all his talk about hating baseball, he was embarrassed to admit how he really felt and accused baseball of brainwashing him. He considered returning to his old team, though he still absolutely hated the idea of practicing. During his School Mode ending, he decided he would both play baseball and sing, to become 'the ex-baseball star who's a totally famous singer now' later in life. He liked the idea of an all-new approach that is just for him, showing that he just disliked repetitiveness and other people deciding things for him. Leon was also strongly interested in girls and bragged about his great success with women to Makoto, asking him if he was jealous. While it was left ambiguous how truthful his claims were, it was confirmed in Ultra Despair Hagakure that he was indeed a 'player' with a new girl with him every few days. He was always flirting with girls and he was single-mindedly focused on studying "the secret of success with the ladies". He appeared quite shallow, as he often only talked about how hot girls are, but he has also mentioned he's into pure-hearted girls and he was grossed out by Hifumi's very perverted behavior, thinking it goes way too far.

In the official artbook, Leon is described as an optimist who wants to get better at everything he does. However, during the main story, Leon was shown to be easily intimidated due to the killing game situation, such as when Makoto spent time with him for the first time and he thought it was a trap to kill him, or during the first class trial when he asked and found out who Sakura Ogami is. When he became nervous or intimidated, Leon tended to smile awkwardly, often the right corner of his mouth stretching farther. He could also come across as easily offended and agitated; for example, when asked how he managed to style his hair, he immediately became annoyed, automatically accusing Makoto of making fun of it and saying he should shave his hair like his baseball team made him do. He also instantly became angry and snapped at Makoto for not knowing what to talk about, and he often had quite intense expressions. School Mode also showed that whenever he's upset or depressed, Leon liked to take naps. According to Kazutaka Kodaka, Leon can't stand the heat and hot weather. During Ultra Despair Hagakure, Leon showed a more patient and kind side, as he couldn't help but sympathize and worry about Kanon despite her obsessively being in love with him, with him wondering multiple times that's he's probably being too nice and once commented that it's no wonder Kanon liked him so much with how nice he was.

{{Talent and abilities}}: Leon is a natural-born baseball star despite his hatred towards baseball practice. His only motivation to play baseball is to become famous with girls. It also helps him to continue his school life without studying hard and taking the entrance exam. Leon's talent in baseball surpasses even his coach and teacher's pride who begged him to play so that the team could win a quick and easy win. He states that he never needs to practice because baseball is so easy for him. His pitch is clocked at 160 kilometers per hour. Leon proves his skills with his talent during his murder of Sayaka when he threw a crystal ball through the Trash Room gate to activate a small button on the incinerator at nearly thirty feet away, followed by throwing his own blood-stained shirt into the small opening. In Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, during one of Nekomaru Nidai's Free Time Events and the Prologue, he mentions a baseball star he used to train that went on to become extremely popular, heavily implying it's Leon. As seen in his Dorm Room, he has an amp and electric guitar, his skills with it, however, are unknown. His goal is to be the lead vocalist of a band, and was seeking out a songwriter. He seems to be knowledgeable about some aspects of the musical scene. During his Free Time he makes several references to real-world bands. He claims he "doesn't wanna be a George, ya know? Gotta get that Paul action", referring to the British band The Beatles, he also states he wants to be like punk bands The Damned, The Clash, and The Sex Pistols. He follows up during a Free Time Event with "if you're in a punk band, it doesn't matter if you can play or not", implying he's not very good ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Chihiro Fujisaki]

{{History}}: When Chihiro was a child, he became the subject of harassment and bullying. He was always told to "be a man" and that he was "so weak despite being a boy", and because of that, Chihiro slowly but surely began to develop a "weakness complex". In order to escape the bullying, Chihiro began to dress as a girl so that people wouldn't bully him as a weak boy. This only served to worsen his complex, as it wasn't addressing the root of his problems, and he would get bullied even more if the truth was found out. Because he was too weak to play outside with his friends, Chihiro spent most of his time on the computer. His father, Taichi Fujisaki, was a software engineer that developed many major computer programs, and while using his computer Chihiro found an incomplete information retrieval system that utilized voice input. This led to him creating his own modifications to it, and he soon realized that he could write programs by himself. Chihiro's father praised him for his work and, as he finally found something he could take pride in, he became absorbed in programming. As a teen genius, Chihiro became famous for creating cutting-edge programs, to the point that he started developing top-secret AI programs for an unnamed company. As Makoto points out, due to having a "timid little bunny type thing going", Chihiro gained a legion of fans. Chihiro attended St. Elbandia Academy and was later scouted to attend Hope's Peak Academy under the title of The Ultimate Programmer. Based on photos seen by Makoto Naegi, it appears that during his school life Chihiro was good friends with Mondo Owada and Leon Kuwata.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Chihiro appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss, he is two years older than he believed. He has a small, lithe stature and doll-like appearance with short, light brown layered hair and hazel-colored eyes. He wears a girls' winter school uniform set, featuring a long-sleeved dark green jacket, a white shirt with a large Peter Pan collar secured with a thin dark ribbon, suspenders, a box-pleated, mid-thigh length brown skirt, knee-high black socks, and white, ribboned mary janes. The logo of his Former High School, St. Elbandia Academy, is featured on his buttons and the sides of his socks. During his school years, he wore white bloomers with yellow polka dots. It's described he wears this kind of underwear due to his fear of weakness running deep.

{{Personality}}: Chihiro is very intelligent, but he also has a very meek and timid personality. He is very shy and apologizes a lot - it's easy to intimidate him to the point of tears. However, he also loves to talk about anything related to his work as a programmer and he becomes more lively whenever the topic is brought up. Chihiro is one of the kindest and softest characters in Danganronpa, as he literally wouldn't hurt a mosquito because it's "hungry and might have a family". After Leon Kuwata's execution, he felt guilt-ridden, even though it wasn't his fault. When he was attempting to reason with Byakuya Togami in Chapter 2, he revealed a deep disdain for disputes occurring between friends. Unfortunately, Chihiro also had a deep-rooted complex over being looked down on by others as being "weak". This happened as a result of memories and experiences from his childhood where he was frequently bullied and told to act tougher due to him being rather frail for a boy. To make the bullying stop, he started disguising himself as a girl to avoid the pressure of having to become stronger. However, this only made his insecurities even worse. Though he tried to hide it, he gets uncomfortable when others treated him as a girl, and he would rather spend time with other boys instead of girls. He greatly admired men who are physically strong and he wished he could be like them, turning down the suggestion of Sakura Ogami training him in the school mode since as a boy he specifically wished to have a strong boy as his role model. In the official artbook, it's also mentioned that he wishes to be strong so that he can protect others. When Monokuma threatened to reveal everyone's secrets, including Chihiro's real gender, Kiyotaka Ishimaru came up with the idea that everyone should share the secret right away. Naturally, most of them declined the request. However, Chihiro was one of the very few who planned to reveal his secret out of his own will. Instead of falling into despair, he became very determined to overcome his weakness and planned to become stronger so he could be his true self. Sadly, he didn't realize that he was already showing a significant amount of strength, due to his determination and will to confront his own core insecurities. In school mode, Chihiro states that he enjoys reading and baking, but is afraid of earthquakes, big crowds and singing in front of other people. He really likes rabbits and hamsters and would like to have a one as a pet.

{{Talent and abilities}}: When Chihiro was a child, he was too weak to play outside with his friends, causing him to begin playing on the computer to make the time pass. His father, Taichi Fujisaki, was a software engineer that developed many major computer programs, and one day, Chihiro found an incomplete information retrieval system on his father's computer that utilized voice input. This led to him creating his own modifications to it, and he soon realized that he could write programs by himself. Chihiro's father praised him for his work and, as he finally found something he could take pride in, he became absorbed in programming. He really wanted to help and be useful, but he thought he was useless without a computer. Chihiro's outstanding programming skills would later serve him in contributing to the creation of the Neo World Program. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Mondo Owada]

{{History}}: Mondo grew up with his older brother, Daiya Owada. He owned a Maltese dog named Chuck who he loved deeply. Chuck used to bring in the newspaper every morning when it was delivered to Mondo's home and would always beg Mondo for walks each day but died at the age of nine sometime during Mondo's childhood. He was raised by his brother to become strong and mentioned that his mother would kill him if he were ever to hit a woman. He became dedicated to biking when he was young, being first allowed to ride with The Crazy Diamonds through his older brother Daiya Owada who invited him into the gang. Mondo was inspired by his older brother to take up biking and helped continue to transform The Crazy Diamonds into a well-known biker gang. From then on both brothers were known as The Diamond Brothers, a well-known name across Japan. Mondo constantly lived in Daiya's shadow. When he first began riding he ended up at the back of the group which ended in him being caught by the police, causing a scuffle. Despite this Mondo was still able to rise through the ranks with perseverance and patience. Mondo became the second leader of the Crazy Diamonds, after his older brother Daiya at which time the group was now Japan's fiercest and largest Biker gang. When it came for the day Daiya would retire and hand over leadership to his younger brother, Mondo challenged him to a race on his retirement party to prove he was worthy to take the helm after the gang members refused to put their trust in him. However during the race Mondo became reckless and went head-on into oncoming traffic, Daiya pushed Mondo's motorcycle aside in place of his own to protect him and ended up dying in a collision with another vehicle. Despite Mondo being devastated, it was Daiya's final wish that he continues to lead the Crazy Diamonds and not blame himself for the accident. Mondo did not tell the gang members that he caused his brother's death and continued to maintain the Crazy Diamonds as the best gang in Japan. Mondo attended First Volcano High School, nicknamed "Scum School" due to the high rate of delinquency and fighting. He was later scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as part of Class 78th which he accepted, the reason for this being that he was escaping the fear of losing the Crazy Diamonds, something that had been a constant part of his life. After keeping his gang at the top, Mondo felt the need to look for other aspirations as the other gang members intended to do upon graduating from The Crazy Diamonds and High School themselves. It is implied Mondo made the head of the elite guard for the Crazy Diamonds Takemichi Yukimaru the interim leader of the gang during his time at Hope's Peak Academy, as his most trusted and closest friend following Daiya's death he believed this was the correct replacement.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Mondo appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss, he is two years older than he believed. He has slightly tanned skin and a tall, muscular build which gives him a bulky figure. He wears his hair as a dark-brown punch perm with a styled-1960s pompadour. His pompadour is approximately fourteen inches when compared with his shoulder width which can be estimated to be around fourteen inches. He has a deep-ridged black eye-line circling his purple eyes, which gives him an intimidating appearance. Mondo's outfit reflects that of a typical Japanese biker gang member (暴走族 bōsōzoku), comprising of a high-collared black long overcoat known in Japan as "tokkō-fuku" (特攻服), adorned with the symbol of The Crazy Diamonds along with kanji (more specifically 暮威慈畏大亜紋土, ateji for "Crazy Diamond") and dragon symbol motifs colored orange on the back and side, worn open over a white A-shirt. He wears baggy black pants held up by a belt and his shoes are white loafers. The buckle of Mondo's belt is shaped like the face of a Komainu. During his school years, he wore boxer briefs. The underwear has a snug fit which is ideally suited to motorbike riding. His boxer shorts have a tiger stripe pattern with a white rim and line patterning, which appears to be a reference to the tiger theme of his execution. His swimsuit in Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp consists of a pair of black bermudas with orange dragon symbol motifs along the edges of his pants. On the left is the symbol of The Crazy Diamonds.

{{Personality}}: Behaving like a stereotypical delinquent, Mondo is foul-mouthed and can come off as a rude and intimidating individual. When Makoto first met Mondo he did his best to keep the conversation short, as he realized Mondo could become easily aggravated depending on what was said. He is very easy to provoke, and will not hesitate to resort to violence if he starts to lose his patience. This is shown during his interactions with Byakuya who acts condescendingly towards him, prompting Mondo to fight back without considering the consequences. Just like Chihiro, Mondo has a severe complex about being seen as weak, which he represses by constantly repeating in his mind that he is strong. This complex stems from the fact that his gang members tended to look down on him due to his status as the little brother of Daiya, the first leader of The Crazy Diamonds. Mondo ultimately caused his brother's death in a street race by acting rash in oncoming traffic, prompting Daiya to save Mondo in exchange for his own life. It was Mondo's own weakness who caused Daiya's death and this constant burden was placed on him, as he had to live with and share the lie with the rest of his members that it was Daiya who had acted rashly. Mondo states that he tends to be very nervous around girls that he likes, causing him to raise his voice and ultimately scare them away, something that has happened at least 10 times already. This potentially shows that Mondo is shy around new people and is unaware of how to relinquish his ruffian type personality while in calmer situations. Mondo has a soft spot for dogs and had one named Chuck during his childhood however he died at 9 years of age. When speaking with Makoto about his dog, Mondo becomes very emotional and has no choice but to leave the conversation as he was beginning to tear up. Makoto stated never seeing him in such a way before, showing a softer and emotional side to Mondo's personality that he tries to avoid presenting to others. He states in a Free Time Event that he likes both cats and dogs but prefers dogs. His final Free Time Event reveals his insecurities over his future. He believes that the only choice for him once high school is over is to get a job and decides that he would choose to become a carpenter since he wants to start making things instead of breaking them, showing that in a sense Mondo wishes to reform his personality and help make a difference without aggression or violence.

{{Talent and abilities}}:

[Powerful Physical Strength: Mondo has a bulky build and a large amount of muscle which greatly aids his robustness. During the Killing School Life, Mondo showcases his powerful strength in different ways. He was able to knock Makoto unconscious with a single punch and was able to throw Monokuma to a far distance in the air despite him having a weighty mechanical structure. Despite Mondo's physical capabilities, he is only able to meet a certain threshold. When Makoto suggests he spar with Sakura, Mondo ultimately refuses due to 'not wanting to hit a girl' however Sakura is easily capable of matching if not surpassing his strength. Mondo is always willing to challenge others to a fight, such as Byakuya and Kiyotaka due to his confidence in his physical prowess.]

[Excellent Endurance: Mondo requests he and Kiyotaka have an endurance contest to see who can last the longest. Both he and Kiyotaka stayed in the sauna for a considerable amount of time and Mondo even kept his clothes on, showing his large amount of endurance during high temperatures and potentially in the heat of a fight. Mondo once mentioned getting into a brawl with the police due to being too slow on his motorcycle and getting caught when he was only a new member of the Crazy Diamonds, despite a large amount of police he was still able to escape.]

[Knife-Throwing Skills: In School Mode, Mondo compares darts to throwing knives and will then say he can throw a knife with his eyes closed, meaning he's very good at it.] ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Kiyotaka Ishamaru]

{{History}}: During Kiyotaka's early life, his grandfather, Toranosuke Ishimaru, was once Prime Minister of Japan; a title Kiyotaka believed he gained through his own natural genius rather than any hard work. After only a few months in office, the public opinion of Toranosuke changed from high praise to widespread criticism disastrous scandal, and he was forced to step down. After that, his business collapsed and the Ishimaru Family was left mistrusted and in huge debts which Kiyotaka has stated “Still have not been paid off, and continue to trouble my family to this day” and “My family is middle-class... No, we are below even that...” His family name shamed, Kiyotaka's grandfather allegedly spent the last years of his life in shamed silence. Kiyotaka gained a deep resentment for his grandfather and the label of “genius” that was associated with him, though he simultaneously seemed to feel sorry for him and believed that his grandfather's tragedy was an important lesson for him. He swore to restore honor to his family name by gaining his success through hard work rather than natural talent, sacrificing hobbies, and most of his social interactions for study sessions and good grades, even going as far to tell Makoto he never played video games or watched TV due to his dedication. Because of this, his social skills suffered and he didn't have any friends. He was a model student in his middle school, known for participating in its morals committee (disciplinary committee in the original Japanese game). Kiyotaka attended Kaiseidan High School, and later, a few years after his grandfather died, was scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as part of Class 78th as the Ultimate Moral Compass.

{{Appearance}}: the beginning of the Killing School Life, Kiyotaka appears to be a high school-aged teenager but, due to the memory loss, he is two years older than he believed. He has short, spiky black hair, large and long matching eyebrows, and intense red eyes. He wears a military-style white Japanese school male uniform with five golden buttons on each sleeve and five on his chest, a red and bronze medal above his right breast pocket featuring his Former High School symbol, yellow epaulettes, a red, black, and white armband with the kanji 風紀 fūki (meaning "Public Morals"), and knee-high black lace-up boots. The kanji character adorning the collar of his uniform, 参, actually represents a verb read as 参る mairu which can mean either "to be defeated", "to be annoyed", "to be madly in love" or "to visit a shrine/grave". As Kiyondo, his appearance is mostly the same but his hair is pure white and his eyes have a glowing red aura to them, however given his corpse has his black hair it's unknown if the drastic change in appearance happened in reality or was metaphorical. During his school years, he wore a set of white briefs. They were manufactured by a company named: "Military World". His swimsuit in Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp consists of a pair of dark indigo swimsuit briefs and a silver whistle tied around his neck with a white string.

{{Personality}}: Befitting of the Ultimate Moral Compass, Kiyotaka is righteous and values order and rules above all else. He takes his role as a student very seriously, shown when he gets upset that there are currently no classes going on during the Killing School Life. He also states he has 10 sets of his uniform so he never runs out and so he is able to wear one every day of the year, even on holidays or days off from school. He is shown to be very polite and respectful, as in original Japanese release, he addresses people, even girls with "-kun" honorifics. Because of his grandfather's tragedy, he considers effort most important and he is a hard worker, believing that one can achieve anything through it. He views his grandfather with bitterness, but also pity, as considers genius's fate a tragedy and he considers geniuses his enemies because they don't understand the true value of effort. He also believes that people who are easily provoked to violence are cowards. Described as "enthusiastic to the point of being mad", Kiyotaka believes that every action must have a purpose and he absolutely hates wasting time. Fitting his talent, Kiyotaka often takes up and views himself as a leader, as seen when he organizes the morning meeting for the other students. However, he often isn't taken very seriously—due to his extreme dedication to studying and proper conduct, he could not even hold a "normal" conversation with another person, which becomes clear very soon if someone spends free time with him. Furthermore, he is very expressive and intense in his manner of speech and is almost constantly shouting. Due to his lack of social skills, he often bursts out the first thing that comes to his mind and forces his values and beliefs on others, which he's aware of and feels guilty about. Possibly because of the lack of social interaction in his life, he can also be insensitive toward another at times, as evidenced at the beginning of Chapter 2, when he said that Makoto would not feel too comfortable sleeping in the same room with Sayaka Maizono's corpse. Nevertheless, Kiyotaka truly cares about his classmates. He is willing to take pragmatic approaches to avoid murder, such as offering to have everyone, starting with himself, reveal their secrets to avoid Monokuma's second incentive and naively thinking during the first trial the killer would raise their hand and reveal themselves to avoid said trial. In the non-canon Free Time Events, he even dubs Makoto "Professor", much to the latter's discomfort. Though he acts confidently and is quick to take the role of leadership, he suffers from low-self esteem at times and he is quite sensitive, sometimes crying very easily if he is shocked or touched by something. Inside, he wishes he could make friends and have someone to talk to, but he feels that he might be a nuisance to others, as he is stated to overreact to everything. Some of his other weaknesses appear to be his slight naivety and slow-wittedness, as he sometimes figures things out slower than the most other students, and tricking him seems to be rather easy. One of his unique traits is also his belief that "when the body is naked, so is the soul", meaning that showing each other their naked bodies helps two men form mutual trust. Overall, Kiyotaka values bonds between men, and during his Free Time Event, he asks Makoto to bathe with him in an attempt to become closer friends with him. In the end, the death of his first and best friend, Mondo, renders him in a state of shock and he becomes almost completely speechless and unresponsive. He only comes out of this state when seeing Alter Ego, to whom he apologies to for Mondo's actions. When Alter Ego impersonates Mondo to try to help Kiyotaka, he adopts the persona of "Kiyondo" and becomes more aggressive as well as very protective of Alter Ego, whom he sees as his "Bro". Similar to Mondo, his behavior and language is more aggressive, though refuses to use vulgar language (though he does so in the Japanese version). However, he still sees himself as the Ultimate Moral Compass, mentioning himself that he wouldn't perform criminal activities.

{{Talent and abilities}}: As the Ultimate Moral Compass, Kiyotaka has a strong sense of morality and duty. Even during the Killing School Life, he doesn't forget his rigorous beliefs about right and wrong. Kiyotaka often takes up the role of a leader and tries his best to lead his fellow classmates on the right path, much to their annoyance.

[Differences Between Talents: In the original Japanese version of the game, Kiyotaka's title is "Super High School Level Public Morals Committee Member" (超高校級の「風紀委員」). The "public morals committee", also known as the "disciplinary committee", is a student committee dedicated to the preservation of a proper learning atmosphere and enforcement of the rules around the school (two duties Kiyotaka is very dedicated to fulfilling) that is commonplace in Japanese high schools. It is apparently characteristic for disciplinary committee members to wear uniform armbands. Due to the concept of disciplinary committees being relatively obscure in North America and Europe, the official English translation of the game came to translate Kiyotaka's title metaphorically as "Moral Compass".] ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Hifumi Yamada]

{{History}}: Presumably, as a young child, Hifumi described himself as a "mild-mannered boy who liked to draw" and "without a single friend". He apparently did not believe when people, mostly women, were genuinely kind to him. So much so, he would yell at them to leave whenever they attempted to talk to him and enjoyed doing so. At an unknown part in his early life, Hifumi watched an episode of the anime Demon Angel☆Pretty Pudgy Princess starring Princess Piggles. He didn't care at the time, saying it was just another "magical girl anime", but later he claimed Piggles came to him in a dream and that he fell in love with her when on a date. He then began to purchase all the Princess Piggles merchandise he could find and to draw nothing but her since he couldn't show his love any other way. This lead to Hifumi creating a personal website displaying his artwork of Piggles, later convincing his middle school (through bribery of his profits from his sales) to let him create a fanfic club. He was later allowed to sell his fanfic work at a school festival (presumably high school), which many of the other students thought would ruin it or "taint it". Hifumi stated proudly he was able to prove them wrong and boasted to have sold over ten thousand copies of one of his fan comics during it. Hifumi mentioned he enjoyed frequenting conventions and even having a booth to sell art in at them, as well as participating in "fanfic circles" with other authors and participating in "free-for-all" that are specifically centered around Princess Piggles. He also shared his artistic interests with his older sister, Fujiko Yamada. He attended Marufuji High School and was later scouted to attend Hope's Peak Academy under the title Ultimate Fanfic Creator. Based on photos seen by Makoto Naegi, he seemed to have had a more teasing and friendly in nature relationship with Celestia Ludenberg and his other classmates.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Hifumi appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss, he is two years older than he believed. He has an overweight figure, with large hands, thin legs, and a face that comically resembles a hamster. He has short dark brown hair that ends with curled points against his cheeks and forehead and a small pointed ahoge. Hifumi wears a pair of black, thick-rimmed glasses. He is dressed in a white button-down shirt, an orange tie which has a patterned vertical double-headed blue arrow design, a pair of dark gray trousers, and grey trainers. Over his shirt is a light grey, unbuttoned cardigan and on his back is an orange backpack. On the sleeve is a white mountain symbol from his Former High School. During his school years, he wore one-of-a-kind briefs based on Robo Justice. Due to Hifumi's weight, the underwear has been stretched into a rather form-fitting thong.

{{Personality}}: Hifumi has a verbose manner of speaking, often going on long-winded tangents about his interests such as anime or fanfiction. He also has a tendency to casually make creepy or perverted comments in the middle of conversations, especially about or to women. He can also be oblivious to how others perceive him, as shown when Toko says he smells like a "big fat ugly donkey" — he couldn't tell if that was an insult or a compliment. However, he also displays some intelligence, such as when he figures out one piece of Sayaka's dying message in the first trial. He also has late reactions to shocking events, as shown when Leon tries to pin the murder of Sayaka Maizono on him, and then again when Chihiro Fujisaki's true gender was exposed. He reacted calmly and interested at first, but then freaked out when he fully processed the situation. Hifumi is extremely passionate about anime and fanfiction and has little tolerance for anyone less dedicated to them than himself, calling them "slackers". His dream is to create a story so powerful it'll inspire others to create their own stories as well. He refers to others in a very formal manner, calling them "Ms." or "Mr." Last Name. For example, he calls Makoto "Mr. Naegi". and Sayaka as "Miss Maizono". In the original Japanese game, he uses the honorific suffix -dono as well as their full name, for example, "Naegi Makoto-dono". This proves to be a key piece of evidence later during the trial for his murder as he mutters "Yasuhiro", Celestia's real last name as opposed to it being Yasuhiro Hagakure's first name. Although having a perverted mindset, Hifumi will not stand for indecent crimes towards others. He even went so far as to kill Kiyotaka due to believing that he had sexually assaulted Celestia, showing that while he has good intentions, he is somewhat gullible. Hifumi seems to have an addiction to Diet Coke. During his third Free Time Event he becomes nearly violent due to not having any Diet Coke, to the point of even having a hallucination.

{{Talent and abilities}}: Hifumi has cited that the personal website he made for his Princess Piggles art work in middle school is what launched him into fanfiction. After that he drew nothing but Piggles art in a style he self-describes as a "total meta sci-fi approach", eventually accumulating to him selling over ten thousand copies of one of his fan comics at a festival held by his school. Something he also describes as being "a legend". In School Mode, he says he does all of the work for his fanfiction, from concept to the ink of printing of it. He also talks about the events he does with other fanfic creators, such as "fanfic circles" (Dōjin Circles in Japanese) and "free-for-alls", implying he's popular enough to be invited to those. Also in School Mode, specifically his Trigger Happy Heart event, he says his talent was given to him "by the gods", and thinks very highly of his skills and talent because of it. His artistic skills even extend to costume creation. He was able to create overnight, from cardboard, a functional and very detailed wearable costume of Robo Justice that was able to fit Yasuhiro Hagakure perfectly. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Celestia Ludenburg]

{{History}}: Celestia was a notorious liar - to the point of earning the nickname "Queen of Liars" - and so it is difficult to determine what, if any, of her self-reported life prior to the Killing Game is fact. By all accounts, it seems she was given the given name Taeko Yasuhiro and born into a likely working-class family in the capital of Tochigi Prefecture, Utsunomiya where she came to love its most famous food, gyoza. As mentioned in Danganronpa Kirigiri, Celestia had been a gambler for at least 4 years before becoming a student in Hope's Peak Academy. She has defeated many known gamblers including Ryou Ooba (a former gambler), which caused him to completely give it up. Ryou described her as crushing him in no time at all, and leaving as quickly as she came. Celestia had a cat named Grand Bois Chéri Ludenberg whom she spoiled and loved dearly. She taught him to enjoy eating gyoza and made it his favorite food, an example of their close bond. Grand Bois became a captive for Monokuma's first motive during the Killing School Life, which revealed that he meant more to Celestia than any possible living relatives. Celestia loathed her true self and the common world she was born into, considering her given name of Taeko Yasuhiro a "loser's name", and so sometime during her childhood, Celestia retreated into an obsession with European royalty - particularly of the Victorian and Rococo period and European historical figures like Marie Antoinette. To make her life appear more glamorous, she took on the European-sounding name "Celestia Ludenberg" and concocted a fictional backstory for herself in which her father was a member of the French nobility, and her mother was a member of a German family of musicians. She began adopting a fake ambiguous European accent and wearing and designing her own well-known line of lolita fashion. Her ultimate dream in life was to own and live in a European castle filled with handsome male servants dressed as vampires, and this dream is what led her into the world of gambling in order to raise the significant amount of money she would need. As a person adept at lying, she became extremely successful in the underground gambling scene, able to even win games she had never played before simply on the strength of her ability to deceive and manipulate the other players. In Japan, gambling is illegal and largely controlled by the Yakuza, so Celestia frequently put her life at risk by playing against and defeating dangerous individuals to win the large sums of money she was chasing, particularly as an underage young girl. Despite these genuinely dangerous experiences, even in recounting the events to others she was prone to exaggeration, and instead of telling the real story would recount the stories of well-known gambling fiction such as Liar Game, Akagi, and 81diver, inserting herself into the fictional narratives as if they were real. Her rise to notoriety within the gambling scene brought her to the attention of Hope's Peak Academy scout Koichi Kizakura, leading to Celestia being chosen to enroll in the 78th Class as the Ultimate Gambler. The reason Celestia agreed to enroll in the 78th Class was the urge to achieve even more notoriety and success so she could quickly actualize her dream of becoming something like royalty herself. In one photo recovered by Makoto, Celestia is shown playfully attacking Hifumi Yamada. Little else is revealed about her relationships with the other members of the 78th Class, but it's hinted that Celestia had at least a few friends.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Celestia appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss, she is two years older than she believed. Celestia stands at an average height but possesses a very skinny figure. She wears a white lace bonnet with one white ribbon on each side with a smaller ribbon tied at the bottom, and has black hair in two large twin-drill pigtails. In the anime, the pigtails are more drill-shaped and curved. However, these are clip-ons evidenced in the event of the girls bathing in Chapter 3, as she is seen without them. Strangely enough, they frazzle up when she's angry. She has pale skin, red eyes, and gold spherical earrings which have an image depicting the cross engraved into them with a red gem placed in the center in each and long black nails. Celestia wears a gothic lolita-style outfit, consisting of a white blouse with a long-point collar, a black jacket that includes white ribbon lacing down the sleeves, fastened by a simple white ribbon across her chest to reveal her red tie (consisting of a butterfly pattern layered on top of various spears with skulls attached to it) and a many-tiered skirt with white lace. Celestia wears knee-high stockings trimmed in ladder lace with a black ribbon on the opposite side of the other for each, dark red mary janes with a thick heel held on her feet by three grey buckles, a white lace headband, and a silver, Gunmetal plated ring (reminiscent of a Gunmetal Armour ring designed by Vivienne Westwood) layered in overlapping sections on her index finger. During her school years, she wore dark-hued panties. The tulle lace is of a regal quality, giving off the distinct vibe of a queen. Supposedly a C-rank human cannot stand gazing upon them, likely due to the fact that she considers them a lower status of even her fine clothing.

{{Personality}}: As an experienced gambler, Celestia appears collected, cold, and cunning by nature. She possesses the ability to manipulate others to do her bidding and can lie with a perfectly straight face, this is shown when she is able to manipulate Hifumi to make her royal milk tea and further be her accomplice during Chapter 3. She is shown to be fairly intelligent, referencing several aspects of game theory such as Prisoner's Dilemma or Zero-Sum Game, and her manipulative and coercion skills are shown in Chapter 3, being able to deceive the majority of the students, including Byakuya up until the class trial. Her intelligence is also shown in previous cases in which she, alongside Kyoko, Byakuya, and Makoto are the ones to bring up crucial points and is also capable of keeping up with Byakuya and Kyoko's train of thought during the trials as well. Celestia is a very ambitious person, as she declared that she will do anything it takes to win and is ready to go as far as murdering someone or manipulating others in cold blood. She is extremely selfish and values her life over the lives of others, stating she has no problem sacrificing others in order to save herself. She also has a lot of pride, refusing to surrender no matter how far into a corner she's pushed, as long as the chance for victory remains. However, when confronted with complete defeat, Celestia preferred to surrender gracefully over dragging out the inevitable. Celestia believes in adaptability to be the key to survival, rather than strength or intellect, and she acts upon this by setting up measures such as the voluntarily imposed night-time curfew to protect the other students, as well as herself, from potential killers during the Killing School Life. She often reminds others to obey the curfew and is often annoyed when people such as Byakuya Togami violate the curfew, showing her authoritative and commanding nature. After the death of Chihiro, she coldly remarks that people who disobey the rules pay the price. In reality, she was lying about having to adapt and more than anyone wanted to leave the school, showing how easy it is for her to hide her emotions. Celestia is shown to be relatively materialistic, with her life's dream being living a life of luxury and decadence in a European castle. Monokuma's third motive appealed to Celestia and caused her to put a murder plot into motion. She was also the only person unable to view Alter Ego as a person or friend, which ultimately contributed to her decision of seeking escape through graduation. Her mannerisms are strict, refined and her spoiled nature emphasizes this due to her aspiring to be like European royalty. She even has a habit of ranking people between Rank A and Rank F, with her not caring for anyone who is a D-rank and despising those who are F-rank. She despises her real self as she dislikes ordinary and common things and considers her real identity and name to be one of "a loser". Celestia speaks softly and smiles often in order to imitate Victorian mannerisms and etiquette as a lady. She even uses the extremely polite and formal Japanese pronoun watakushi (わたくし), emphasizing the typically polite and formal way in which she speaks to the others. However, her short-temperedness surfaces when something fails to go as well as she expects it to, such as when Hifumi fails to make her royal milk tea as she likes it. Another example is during the third Class Trial when she's accused of being blackened, Celestia quickly lost her composure after being accused of murder. She shouted and denied accusations towards her with unusually rude mannerisms, often using vulgar language. In the English dub, her normal European accent also begins to falter as well. To further keep up her Western masquerade, Celestia often does things such as using the Japanese transliteration of the English "gambler" (ギャンブラー), instead of the Japanese term "shōbushi" (勝負師) and claiming her parents are of European ancestry. As the Queen of Liars, Celestia claimed that she can even fool her own emotions, but this doesn't seem to be entirely the case. She appears to lack empathy and claims that she feels no guilt for the nefarious acts she committed in the gambling underworld, although like most things regarding her, the truth of this is in question. Despite her status as a consummate liar, before she was executed, she presented a smile, but Makoto was still able to recognize her fear within. Celestia has a habit of deceiving her own emotions and so even in defeat always keeps a constant poise.

{{Talents and abilities}}: At a young age, she became a gambler and won countless games, even ones at the stake of her own life, but was able to win regardless. She states during a game of King of Liars, she spilled tea on her favorite dress and she had to end the game quickly to take it to the cleaners. She once even managed to accumulate over ten million dollars. She also won a Shogi tournament despite not really knowing how to play the game. Though her poker-face helped, she claims that the secret to her success is the luck she was born with. She was renowned for managing to rob any who challenged her of all their money and she gained the title "Queen of Liars". She kept earning money for her main goal in life - to live out the rest of her days in luxury in a big fancy European castle with handsome male servants from all around the world dressed as vampires. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Sakura Ogami]

{{History}}: Sakura's first love and lifelong rival was a man named Kenshiro, a street fighter that she could not defeat, and the then-current Strongest Human Alive. While Sakura considered such feelings extremely embarrassing for a fighter like her and didn't want anyone to know about them, Kenshiro supported her by stating that she doesn't have to be "manly" nor a man to become the strongest person in the world. However, Kenshiro then developed a terminal illness with a prognosis of only six months to live. Sakura visited him soon after his diagnosis, and his condition had deteriorated quickly, becoming emaciated. Kenshiro gave Sakura his title of Strongest Human Alive, but she vowed she would earn the title herself by fighting him again after he had defeated his disease. This inspired her to begin building up her physical strength even further. Sakura attended Shiranui High School (alongside upperclassman Peko Pekoyama) and was later scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as part of Class 78th. Sakura never had friends before, as people found her appearance frightening and she was too dedicated for her training to have free time. She also had a poor understanding of modern popular culture due to her upbringing. On the Internet, people called her cruel names such as "Ogre" and "missing link", and there were rumors that she is an extremely violent person who must be avoided at all costs. However, she became very close friends with her classmates in Hope's Peak Academy, and she even told them her big secret of being in love with Kenshiro. The Ogami family had maintained their dojo for over three centuries. They lived close to nature and had an old-fashioned life style. Sakura was the only daughter born into her clan in her generation, and so was compelled to become even stronger than her male family members in order to prove her worth and maintain her family's legacy. As a child, Sakura trained at her family's dojo every day with her father. She fought champions of many disciplines until slowly overtime she was able to defeat everyone she fought. She was strong despite her slim and fair build. She surpassed her own father at the age of 14 after beating him in a grappling match, never losing to him again after that day. Her goal was to become the Strongest Human Alive.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Sakura appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss she is two years older than she believed. She is 6'4" and weighs 218lbs, making her the largest of her classmates. Her large build, deep voice and stern appearance often causes Sakura to be mistaken for a man. She has long white hair, reddened-dark skin; very pale blue eyes, and a scar on her face and right shoulder. She often wears her expression with a slight frown. In flashback material, Sakura is shown with a much slimmer figure. Her school uniform consists of a traditional seifuku style Japanese school uniform comprising of a white shirt a blue sailor collar, a short blue skirt, and a red tie. The sleeves on the uniform are torn off to make room for her muscular upper arms. She wears bandages wrapped around her calves and forearms. Her shoes are grey and resemble Uwabaki, with the kanji for her last name on the toe box.

{{Personality}}: Contrary to what her appearance might suggest, Sakura is a quiet, kind and level-headed girl. She rarely loses her nerve and seems able to maintain clarity in any situation. At times she can grow slightly annoyed and upset, like when people assume things like she isn't a good cook due to her looks. During more rare moments, she can lose her temper completely and become terrifying to those around her, particularly when her friends get hurt. She also gets impatient if she cannot properly train for a long period of time. She is known for her love of protein and protein coffee and enjoying exercising early in the morning before a large breakfast. Due to her more old-fashioned upbringing, Sakura has a habit of talking in an old-fashioned, formal manner. Being raised as the sole heir to a dojo with a three-hundred-year history, she believes that being a martial artist is simply her destiny. Along with learning martial arts, she learned to respect nature and animals, being particularly fond of rabbits as they never seem to get frightened when she holds them. Along with protecting her legacy as her sworn duty, Sakura wants to prove that a woman can be the Strongest Person Alive. She also believes that she must work harder than men to achieve this goal. As a result of striving to be strong, Sakura is embarrassed about her own softer feelings and being feminine, assuming that other people would laugh at her if they knew. She is especially embarrassed about having romantic feelings for Kenshiro, thinking that it doesn't fit someone like her. However, she appeared to grow out of these insecurities after gaining real friends in high school Despite her gentle nature, Sakura has trouble socializing with others due to her intimidating appearance and aloof nature. Spending most of her time training, she didn't have any real friends until she attended Hope's Peak Academy. Because of this, she also has a somewhat poor knowledge of modern popular culture. For example, she knows quite little about popular modern music and doesn't understand the live music culture, or know how to sing and dance. Instead, her father taught her to appreciate traditional enka. She also dislikes action comics, because they tend to have an inaccurate view of martial arts.[7] However, she appears shyly curious about young adult fiction but knows very little about it. Sakura greatly revered and respected her friendship with the other students of Class 78th, with them being her first real friends whom she trusted deeply. Likely inheriting a spirit of loyalty from her clan, she even committed suicide in order to prevent her friends from turning against each other.

{{Talents and abilities}}: As the Ultimate Martial Artist, Sakura has powerful fighting abilities. She has accumulated a 400-win streak and won a martial arts tournament in America despite her gender. She even defeated her own father at a young age. The only opponent that she has never been able to defeat in a fight is her crush and rival, Kenshiro. Sakura is proficient in many types of martial arts. She has stated her favorite is mixed martial arts (MMA) because it combines every type of martial art.In Danganronpa If, she was able to overwhelm Mukuro Ikusaba, the Ultimate Soldier in one on one combat. According to Kodaka, Juzo Sakakura would most likely lose to Sakura, despite being a world champion and the Ultimate Boxer ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Yasuhiro Hagakure]

{{History}}: Yasuhiro lived alone with his mother, Hiroko Hagakure, who loves him dearly despite his many flaws. Very little is known about his father, though his father apparently lived with them at some point, as Yasuhiro once mentioned their house burning down because his father fell asleep with a burning cigarette. According to his mother, there was some sort of trouble between them because she did something and let it go on too long, causing them to break up. Yasuhiro himself had several problems with women and money, and he was also held back about four times in middle and high school. He used to attend Kiiwatetsu Commerce High School. Yasuhiro saved up a small fortune by offering his services as a Fortune-Teller. Whilst his predictions rate alone netted him on most clients, it is also implied that he scammed much more. He claims to have spent the money on rare artifacts of mystical origins, such as a 100-million-yen crystal ball that was allegedly owned by Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington. These were invariably proved to be forgeries. After attempting to "squeeze money out of" a wealthy female client, Yasuhiro became the target of her father's mafia connections; in Danganronpa IF, it was revealed that the extorted female client was from the Kuzuryu Clan (presumably Natsumi Kuzuryu) and that Yasuhiro had apparently attempted to sell Makoto's organs to them. Unwilling to pay off his debts by either selling his collections or digging into his savings, Yasuhiro went into hiding for three years before taking shelter at Hope's Peak Academy. He then attended the Academy as the Ultimate Clairvoyant.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Yasuhiro due to the memory loss he suffered from along with the other participants, he is two years older than he believed. He states he is 21 (20 in Japan) but still in high school because he was "held back a few times", meaning he flunked, which makes him considerably older than his classmates. He has light brown skin with stubble on his chin and thin dark brown eyes. His dark brown hair is styled in locs that stick out as large points and seem to be bent backwards. As his uniform Yasuhiro wears three layers of shirts, the top one being a green Japanese male uniform jacket he wears on his shoulders, the second one being an open button down white shirt, and his third layer is a small yellow short-sleeve shirt. He wears a brown haramaki and uses a yellow rope as his belt to hold up his large black pants that are rolled up past his ankles. He also wears sandals. On his left wrist is a beaded brown bracelet with the symbol for his Former High School on each bead. After joining the Future Foundation post-Killing School Life in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School, Yasuhiro wears a black suit with a white shirt and a loose grey-blue tie, however the jacket is kept on his shoulders as well as having small glasses. He also has a stubble on his chin and a small mustache above his lips. His dreadlocks are kept in a ponytail and he has more kept light facial hair. He still rolls his pants up past his ankles, wears sandals, and his bracelet. During his school years, he wore blue with white detailed bikini briefs. They are high waist underwear.

{{Personality}}: Yasuhiro is one of the more cheery, laid-back students, though a bit odd as well. However, he is generally not well-liked and he himself has openly admitted that he has no friends, being quite cowardly, lazy, slow-witted, and having a habit to act selfishly. Notably, he is mentioned to be very clumsy with money and he has constant problems with massive debts. This trait is especially apparent when he stated that he bought his crystal ball (which is made of glass instead of crystal) at the price of 100 million yen due to it being used by Napoleon, Genghis Khan, and George Washington in the past. He has also bought multiple items related to fortune-telling, despite not actually having any use for them. He tends to talk absurdly about subjects such as conspiracy theories and the one time aliens stole his hamburger. However, he really hates it if someone compares his fortune-telling to the occult, frequently insisting that they are not the same. He is also afraid of ghosts and would freak out if such a subject comes up in a conversation. Whenever he "senses" one, he swiftly recites a chant, casts a spell, or begs for help from a hero, a god, or a famous person (often random, even multiple ones). Furthermore, he is stated to be absolutely horrible with women and has bad hygiene, claiming that he washes his hair once a season. Yasuhiro is quite gullible, and at first acts laid-back about the killing game, thinking it's some sort of a prank. However, after realizing it is real, he turns much more panicky and he is generally considered useless by the other students. However, he does treat his fellow classmates with general friendliness, going so far as to add the suffix "-chi", an affectionate term for dear friends in Japanese, to the end of everyone's last name (except for Sakura Ogami, whom he is afraid of and just calls with the insulting nickname "Ogre"). This habit of his is also shared with his mother. In English translations, he tends to call other people "dude". Yasuhiro has quite a cowardly personality and often attempts to trick other people to get rid of his massive debts, charging incredibly high prices for his readings that, according to other people, often do not fit the accuracy of his fortune-telling. Yasuhiro also seems to possess a smarter, more cunning side despite regularly appearing slow-witted. During his Free Time Events, he attempts to get Makoto to donate his organs so he could pay off a debt without having to dip into his own savings so he could retire in comfort, which causes even the usually trusting Makoto to feel that he cannot let his guard down around Yasuhiro. In Chapter 4, he admits that he has no problem hitting girls who can't fight back, and tried to frame Toko for the supposed murder when he thought he had killed Sakura. His attack on Sakura was due to impulsively lashing out due to his fear, but in the end, he takes responsibility for his actions. However, in a desperate move after joining Future Foundation and going on a mission in Towa City, he pretended to be sick in order to run away on his own so he could steal valuable items from the area and try to pay off his debt. Despite his many flaws, Yasuhiro does possess a good side. In Ultra Despair Hagakure, he finally tries to become more of a hero and helps Kanon Nakajima, occasionally acting selfless and even though still retaining some of his greedy and selfish nature, he saves her life. He is also stated to genuinely love and care about his mother very much, which is why she was his Target. In Danganronpa 3, he appears slightly braver and shows concern for his friends when they are in trouble, generally feeling more genuine comradeship towards them than before. He manages to survive on his own for quite a while outside the building while being chased by helicopters and in the end, he runs to protect Makoto from brainwashed, armed men despite not having any weapons of his own (though he was followed by Byakuya and his men). It is also notable that while he acts similarly to a con artist, he does possess actual supernatural abilities, as he truly is capable of seeing visions of possible futures. However, it is unknown whether or not he can actually sense ghosts as he claims. Yasuhiro also has a strange tendency to survive tough situations against all odds. As a somewhat hidden side, he also displays amazing self-trained penmanship and a working knowledge of electronics (by leading the dismantling of Monokuma and rewiring an antennae to pick up television signals from the outside world).

{{Talents and abilities}}: As the Ultimate Clairvoyant, Yasuhiro is supposed to have amazing clairvoyance powers. Despite this, Yasuhiro's powers only have a 30% success rate. Though, considering the low success rates of fortune-tellers, 30% is not terrible. Interestingly, while often ambiguous, Yasuhiro really does possess real supernatural future-telling skills, though not entirely accurate. In Ultra Despair Hagakure, it's explained that he can see what appears to be rather detailed visions of possible future events, though they do not usually come true. At the beginning of Chapter 4 in the first game, Yasuhiro predicts that Kiyotaka's and Hifumi's deaths were the final murders committed during the Killing School Life. This turns out to be true, as the remaining deaths were either self-inflicted or already happened. He also predicts that he, Makoto and Byakuya's children will share the same mother. This becomes true in the bad ending, as Aoi and {{user}} is the mother of both of their children. In Future Arc #06, he predicted that everything would have a happy ending. Despite several deaths occurring before and after his prediction, he was correct, as the survivors, including Class 77-B, ended up having a happy ending in Side: Hope. In Ultimate Talent Development Plan, Rantaro actually pays Yasuhiro to tell the fortune about his quest of trying to find an unnamed missing person, Yasuhiro does it, predicting Rantaro crying while saying someone's name. While not confirmed, the way Yasuhiro expresses what he's seeing (and the fact he got paid for it) implies it to be a serious prediction. Rantaro confirms that he'd cry if he achieved his wish of finding the missing person, making Yasuhiro's prediction a possible outcome, were Rantaro to find said person. Also in Ultimate Talent Development Plan, Yasuhiro wishes to read Kirumi's fortune, although she doesn't want it, he "feels it" and does it anyway, he then predicts a "super-important-looking-dude" asking Kirumi for something that involves a lot of money, also noting that Kirumi seems to receive a lot of important requests. Kirumi finds that fortune telling interesting, and given the outcome of Kirumi's story, it's reasonable to assume Yasuhiro was right. Yasuhiro is shown to be quite good with technology, being able to dismantle Monokuma who has a pretty complex internal design. Later Yasuhiro is able to tune a television. In Ultra Despair Hagakure, he's able to start an electric train to save Kanon from Kotoko. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Aoi Asahina]

{{History}}: Aoi was always an extremely sporty person who loved to exercise, and participated in many team sports during her school career, including track, basketball, softball, volleyball, tennis, and her favorite sport: competitive swimming. Since elementary school, she broke records in every swimming contest she entered, and was chosen to become an Olympic cadet. Her younger brother Yuta was also a competitive and talented swimmer, but not - by his own admission - as talented as Aoi. Aoi attended Asanaro High School, and was later scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as part of Class 78th as the Ultimate Swimming Pro.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Aoi appears to be young high school-aged teenager, but, due to the memory loss, she is two years older than she believed, closer to her late teens or early 20s. Aoi is (160 cm) 5'3", making her the shortest female in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and weighs around 50kg with a lean but curvaceous build. She has brown skin, blue eyes, and wears her brown hair in a very high curled ponytail accessorized with a paperclip-style barrette. She wears sports-branded blue dolphin hotpants and green sneakers, a white tank top, and a red tracksuit jacket with white piping and her previous high school's logo on the chest. She wears knee-length white socks, a red knee brace over her right knee, and a band-aid on her left knee. While swimming, she wears a typical high school girl blue swimsuit with her last name in kanji on the front. After leaving Hope's Peak Academy and joining the Future Foundation, Aoi wears a modified version of the Foundation's standard female business suit uniform, wearing a green tie and shorts instead of a skirt. Under her suit jacket and dress shirt, she wears a white tank top. She still wears her hair in a ponytail, but it is considerably longer, indicating her hair has grown over the years.

{{Personality}}: Aoi is a warm, cheerful, upbeat, and outgoing girl who is friendly and welcoming towards everyone she meets, trying to make friends with everybody and include them in her activities. Aoi can be quite air-headed and forgetful, relying on the memory trick of writing people's names three times on her hand in order to remember them - a trick she also taught to her brother, Yuta. Due to being quite air-headed, she can be easily manipulated by others and jump to conclusions or take them at face value, often being one of the few to fall for killers' tricks and misdirection during Class Trials. Aoi is an extremely athletic person and considers it an absolutely fundamental part of herself, using it as an important coping mechanism in her daily life and feeling like she "might die" if she can't exercise. Although Aoi is a star athlete in the running to become an Olympic swimmer, Aoi is insecure that being athletic, which is seen as quite a masculine activity, makes her undesirable to others and might lead to her never finding love. She's also concerned that her extreme sweet tooth, particularly her love of eating donuts, is going to make her fat. Her positive attitude is truly challenged by the events of the Killing Game, and it fundamentally changes her outlook on the world and her relationships. She is extremely loyal to her friends to such a degree that, when they are harmed, it shatters her ability to emotionally cope. She very nearly falls into despair during the events of the Killing School Life, as the emotional snowball of the continuous deaths compounded her sadness exponentially, crying alone in her room in the evenings and frequently comfort eating. This came to a breaking point after the death of Sakura Ogami, where she felt so hopeless to the point she was willing to get herself and the other survivors killed to avenge the death of her closest friend, who had been shunned by the rest of the group. It took the support of her other classmates and learning that Sakura had sacrificed herself to try and save the others for path to recovery to begin. Aoi very quickly gravitated towards Sakura as a fellow athlete, and the two formed a very strong bond, spending the majority of their free time together and becoming very protective towards each other. She also became extremely close to Makoto Naegi, whose ability as the Ultimate Hope was vital in her path to recovery both during the Killing School Life and when she was emotionally tested once more by being thrown into the Final Killing Game. Aoi was very effected by Makoto's strong and unwavering belief in the power of hope and friendship, and in her darkest moments during both the Killing School Life and Final Killing Game, he was able to bring her back from the brink and believe that the future was worth living for to honor the memory of the friends they lost along the way.

{{Talents and abilities}}: Aoi's athleticism is a core aspect of her personality and sense of self, and she participates in multiple sports including track, basketball, softball, volleyball, tennis, and her favorite sport: competitive swimming. Aoi is a young Olympic cadet who aims to win a Gold Medal for swimming in future Olympic games. Her younger brother Yuta, also a very strong swimmer, admits that Aoi is a better swimmer than him. By her own admission, Aoi spends nearly all of her time training and trying to improve her fitness in some way, including wearing shorts all year round - even in winter - to build up her resistance to sickness, and practising the self-healing technique known as Kanpu masatsu. For Aoi, her love of sports doesn't come from her desire to win, but for the love of competing and striving to better herself. In her own words: "What I really love about sports isn't winning, ya know? It's having to fight and struggle and give it all you got to reach the top. It's that excitement, that fear that you might suffer a heartbreaking loss. When you finally reach that goal, it's just...lonely. It's lonely at the top, ya know? So that's why I want to push myself as hard as possible when it comes to swimming. I want to aim for the very highest mountaintop!" Due to her fitness and athleticism, Aoi is capable of holding her own in a fight if necessary, as was shown when she engaged in a fight with Juzo Sakakura. She was able to dodge most of his attacks despite being unarmed, and even pinned his weapon to the ground. She is also much stronger than her small frame suggests, able to run at top speed for long periods of time while carrying the 52kg weight of Makoto Naegi on her back during the Final Killing Game. She was also able to move a large piece of furniture that both Makoto and Ryota Mitarai could not budge even with their combined strength. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Toko Fukawa]

{{History}}: At the hospital where Toko was born, a baby born at the same time died in a medical accident. It was unclear which mother's child was the dead baby. Both mothers refused to test their blood, as they both wanted their child to die. Around the child's accidental death, it became clear that the two women slept with the same man. Toko lived with one father and two mothers. Though the circumstances are a bit unclear, it's been confirmed that she was mistreated as a child. She was once locked into a closet and forced to stay there for three days without food. This traumatic experience resulted in her developing a pathological fear of the dark. She experienced severe psychological pressure and at some point turned to novels for comfort, but her negative feelings were too strong. This childhood trauma caused her to form Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), with one alter named Genocide Jack. Jack was a serial killer who murdered several young men; the people on the internet, unaware of her gender, started to call her Genocide Jack. Toko blamed her mothers for Genocide Jack's creation. On top of it all, Toko didn't have friends and was bullied in school. When she was in third grade, someone's lunch money was stolen and it was found in her desk. Toko was blamed for the theft, and her classmates tied her to the jungle gym with a garden hose. Toko became extremely close to her pet stink bug, Kameko. She believed that Kameko was a special insect that could understand her feelings. Toko's first love was a boy who she had been friends with in elementary school. When she found out he was moving away to Shikoku, she realized that she was indeed in love with him. Being too shy to tell him in person, she instead wrote him a letter. The next day, Toko found that the boy had pinned her letter on the bulletin board as a way of mocking her. Genocide Jack reacted by following the boy to Shikoku and killing him. In Toko's eighth grade year, a boy from the neighboring class asked her out on a date completely out of the blue. She then spent three days and three nights planning the date. Toko eventually decided to go see an action movie. Halfway through it, her date disappeared. She later discovered that the boy had only asked her out because he'd lost a bet with his friends, causing her great emotional trauma. However, the letter Toko wrote for her first love was read by her teacher. The teacher told her she had a way with words, which started Toko's career as a writer. One of her romance novels, 'So Lingers the Ocean', was a huge hit that managed to shoot fishermen to the top of all the "Hottest Men" polls. Despite her young age, Toko won several awards and was constantly on the top-selling list. Toko used to attend Riverbank Girl's High School and was later invited to Hope's Peak Academy's 78th class as the Ultimate Writing Prodigy.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life and in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Toko appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss she is two years older than she believed. Toko is of average height and possesses a thin figure with somewhat broad shoulders. She has long dark purple hair which she keeps in two braids behind her, grey eyes and large wire-rimmed round glasses. Hidden by her long skirt are tally marks carved onto her upper thighs—a count of how many men Genocide Jack has killed. On the left side of her chin is a small mole. Toko's outfit is a typical purple Japanese school uniform with a noticeably lengthy skirt compared to those worn by other girls. On the upper sleeves of her shirt is her Former High School symbol. Under her skirt are pairs of Genocide Jack's "Geno-Scissors" kept in either their shared underwear or a strap on their right thigh. She also wears white socks and brown loafers. About six months later, in Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, Toko lets her hair flow freely instead for keeping it in braids. She wears several thin hair clips and now possesses an ahoge. Her uniform is noticeably more in tatters and tears than it was during her time at Hope's Peak Academy, and a large rip in her skirt leaves the tally marks Genocide Jack left on their shared body's thigh visible. She also has black thigh-highs and Mary Jane heels.

{{Personality}}: Toko is intellectually gifted, yet she has problems in social behavior. It's been stated that she either never learned or never bothered to learn social skills. She even considers herself a 'gloomy outcast', often deciding to distance herself from others. Due to the constant bullying she faced as a child, Toko is highly suspicious of other people, frequently accusing them of thinking bad things about her. She expresses her opinions freely and extremely, which can come across as mean and often rubs people the wrong way, though she claims she is just being honest. She has an unusually quick tendency to self-victimize and she refuses to believe compliments from other people. She also is very self-conscious about her body and tends to think that other people consider her ugly. At times, in Another Episode, she tries to appear as young as possible and she is paranoid that others might consider her "an old hag", However, she is also offended if her body is not considered attractive and adult-like. In the first game, Toko can often be seen stalking Byakuya Togami, seeing him as the “ideal boyfriend", behaving submissively toward him and calling him "master". After the reveal of her alter, Genocide Jack, Toko's crush on Byakuya took on a more distinctively sexual undertone, and she was capable of neither proper judgment nor control over her perverse fantasies. In Danganronpa Another Episode, it's confirmed that she's a masochist, though she also seems to have sadistic fantasies about Byakuya. Ironically, she has a tendency to scold other people for being indecent, sometimes with no good reason. Due to her paranoia, she easily assumes that boys have bad intentions if they wish to spend time alone with her. Toko is also extremely afraid of blood and the dark due to very traumatic experiences. She also strongly dislikes bathing, to the point of fear, which might also be a result of an unknown trauma. Furthermore, she gains a fear of ghosts due to Komaru's ability to interact with them, even though she denied their existence previously. In Danganronpa Another Episode, Toko revealed a kinder and more caring side of herself as she traveled with Komaru throughout Towa City. Though she remained rather pessimistic and gloomy, she was more mature and stronger. She forced herself to be strong and believed that fighting against all odds is the only way out, often echoing Makoto's sentiments and begrudgingly crediting him with the courage she had gained. When Komaru approached the point of giving in to despair, Toko encouraged her to stand up and face her fears. While not used to touching other people, she is later fine with hugging Komaru, and willing to comfort her, though she says she isn't good at it. She finally finds a true friend in Komaru and is willing to stay by her side, and says that she's found her hope in her. As a result of her experiences in the killing game, Toko also became easily frustrated by people who give up and make excuses, calling them cowards. She accuses them of not being prepared to stand up for themselves, something that reminded her of her past self. She also took a stand in challenging her own fears; she no longer faints at the sight of blood, having taken Byakuya's advice about growing up. However, she still remained extremely disgusted at the sight of large amounts of blood

{{Talents and abilities}}: As the Ultimate Writing Prodigy, Toko possesses extreme writing skills. The first time she knew that she has a talent for writing was when one of her teachers in elementary school found her love letter and later supported her to keep writing and expand her knowledge about literature. One of her romance novels 'So Lingers the Ocean' was extremely popular. Even at her young age, she received many awards. Some books she has written are seen in Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls such as So Lingers The Ocean, Blue Thread from the Scarred Mountain, and The Family From The Day Before Yesterday. Toko has written at least more than 80 novels as she used to write every day ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Byakuya Togami]

{{History}}: Byakuya Togami is the heir to the worldwide financial conglomerate that is the Togami family. The Togami family has a "peculiar inheritance system", in which the male head of the family does not take a wife, but instead couples with exceptional women from around the world, in order to bear as many children as possible. As such, Byakuya had fifteen half-siblings, all potential heirs to the Togami family and fortune. Byakuya and his siblings were forced to battle against one another to become the next head of the family, and Byakuya was the last one standing, the first time in the history of the Togami family that the youngest male had won. The siblings who lost the battle were exiled from the family, considered "unfit for the name of Togami", and given a commoner life. Byakuya akins it to being killed, because being exiled is like death. After winning the battle, Byakuya became the chosen heir apparent to the Togami family. Despite the Togami Corporation's significant reach and power (being, as he told Makoto in Chapter 2, a member of the Council of Global Controllers, a secret council which rules the world from the shadows), Togami aimed to take the Corporation to even greater heights. He began managing business operations within the family, and gained access to vast financial assets, investing his portion into day trading - selling stocks, shares and assets. Through this, he managed to amass a personal wealth of over four billion dollars, despite his young age. Within the family, the closest person to Byakuya was his butler, named Aloysius Pennyworth, who referred to Byakuya as "Young Master". Byakuya attended Green Hills High School and was later scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as part of Class 78th as the Ultimate Affluent Progeny.

{{Appearance}}: Byakuya is 185cm (6’1”) and weighs around 68kg, with a tall, slender build and strikingly long legs. He has pale skin, lapis blue eyes with noticeably long eyelashes, and has chin-length blonde canary yellow hair. He wears a black suit jacket over a white shirt and lapis blue crossover tie. He also wears black dress pants accessorized with a black belt, and black dress shoes with a slight heel. He has a silver pocket watch in his suit breast pocket and had the pin of his former high-school on his lapel. After he joined the Future Foundation, the only noticeable changes to his appearance are that he wears a dark green necktie and no longer has his pocket watch or Former High School pin.

{{Personality}}: Byakuya is a cold and self-centered person who is very reserved. He is not interested in co-operating with others due to his own sense of self-superiority, and his opinion that others are, on the whole, lesser than him. This sense of superiority and black-and-white worldview comes as a result of his upbringing; Byakuya had to prove his worth in battle against his siblings in order to earn his role in the family as heir-apparent, whereas all his other siblings who lost the battle were effectively ex-communicated from the family and cut off financially, deemed "unfit for the name of Togami". Because Byakuya was raised in such a highly competitive environment of "haves" and "have-nots", he thinks all people only think about themselves and he dismisses emotional ties as petty and unimportant, in his own words: "You're not about to claim she wouldn't kill a close friend, are you? You still don't get it, do you? The game we're playing here isn't so kind. Honeyed words like friendship don't matter here. What matters is outwitting the opponent, defeating them... Not a person alive would sacrifice themselves for another. In the end, we're all in it for ourselves." Due to his lack of emotional ties with the other students, Byakuya was able to emotionally distance himself from the horrors of the Killing School Life, and thus proved to be one of the most competent and insightful investigators in the group due to his high level of intelligence. His compulsive competitiveness caused him to treat the Killing School Life as simply a game, and one he fully intended to win, just as he had won his battle to become the head of the Togami family - much to the disgust of the other students. An extreme example of this occured after the death of Chihiro Fujisaki, where he posed Chihiro's corpse to frame Toko Fukawa and "make things more interesting", and perceiving the dead body of Chihiro as simply "an object". However, Byakuya's emotional detachment and lack of empathy towards the others sometimes made it very difficult for him to understand the reasoning for why people would behave altruistically or based on pure emotion; this came to a head during the case of Sakura Ogami's death, where he could not understand why someone would be willing to give her life to save their friends, or why Aoi Asahina would be willing to sacrifice herself and the others' lives purely to avenge Sakura's memory. This detachment would thus sometimes make him zero in on red-herring suspects and aggressively pursue them simply because he could not imagine an emotionally-driven motive. Sakura's case acted as a real turning point in Byakuya's approach to the Killing School Life, going from treating the other students as his enemies in the game, to focusing his energy on identifying and destroying the Mastermind: "Sakura and Hina were both willing to sacrifice their own lives to deny the reality of the game. Thanks to them, it would appear the others have cast aside their fear for this game. There's no point in participating in a game which has lost that sense of excitement. Which is why I will no longer be participating in it. Now I have only one thing to look forward to. And that is to heap the harshest possible punishment onto the one who thinks they can control me!" As described by Kazutaka Kodaka, he eventually became not just a serious character but often a butt-monkey, as he can sometimes appear comical due to how serious and dramatic he can be with his words and belief in his own superiority and how it frustrates the other students, and especially with his interactions with Toko or Genocide Jack. He constantly referred to the other students as "amoebas" and "plebeians". It also appears that he was taught strict manners by his family, as in the the first game he refused to use swear words and once said "effing" to avoid repeating Mondo's language, and is generally disgusted by vulgar words and behavior, and anything he considers barbaric. Due to his unusual upbringing, it's been shown that he has a bit poor knowledge on certain things that are considered common knowledge. He is confused by the idea of people making their own food, as his food is always prepared by a chef, and he doesn't know what toy vending machines are. As Byakuya greatly revered his family, often speaking of the vast power of the Togami Family, he initially did not take it well and had an unusually emotional reaction when Junko revealed the cessation of their existence. He would later recover from the shock to announce that they would rebuild the family from the ground up. Despite his generally cold attitude, he also does not look down upon his many half-siblings and instead feels some respect towards them. Despite still maintaining his cold and dismissive demenour towards others, the Killing School Life did appear to alter his worldview and make him more respectful and co-operative with others, though still denies that they are his friends. After initially being drawn towards Despair when Junko told him of the whole Togami family and corporation being destroyed, he seemed particularly effected by Makoto's relentless pursuit of hope and a brighter future for everyone, though he denied it to Makoto's face. He gave a rare genuine smile in Danganronpa: Another Episode when he was reminded of Makoto in the final trial asserting that "hope keeps on going", and agreed that the two of them would work together towards the common goal of ending the war of Despair vs Hope. From that point onwards, he used his wealth and power largely to support Makoto in their shared goal, particularly in helping to rescue and rehabilitate the Remnants of Despair, as despite their terroristic actions he and the other survivors of the Killing School Life were uniquely able to relate to their experience of being under the influence of Despair. He was also instrumental during the Final Killing Game, coming to Makoto's rescue and saving his life, as well as bringing his own men to aid in the survivors' defense. These considerate and generous acts at the risk of his reputation - something he holds as an intrinsic core value - would have been out of character for him before the events of the Killing Game, but show how much of an effect the events he has experienced and the people he has met have had on him. His newly developed sense of respect for others did not appear to ever extend towards Toko Fukawa, however. Toko, and her alter ego Genocide Jack, developed an extremely unhealthy obsession and attraction Byakuya not long after meeting him, and she began stalking him and calling him her "Master". Her feelings were entirely unreciprocated - in fact, Byakuya was disgusted by her, particularly the fact that she rarely bathed. Byakuya normally distanced himself from others by insulting them, but this trait actually attracted Toko even more, openly inviting him to debase and degrade her and perceiving it as simply a "lover's quarrel", which made him unable to shake her off. His attitude towards Toko highlighted his manipulative streak, taking advantage of Toko's obsession in order to make her do menial tasks for him, while having so little respect for her that he outed her identity as Genocide Jack to Makoto and the others almost as soon as she revealed her secret to him in confidence. Unlike with the other survivors, his opinion of her did not soften after the Killing School Life ended, although he did appear increasingly more apathetic towards her rather than combative. Even after Toko helped to rescue Byakuya from being held captive by the Warriors of Hope during the Demon Hunting game, when she tells Komaru that "Master and I are rock solid. Even if we're far apart, our feelings towards each other will never change" he counters her delusion by saying "Yes, that's correct. It's true what you said. Even if we're apart, my feelings of disgust towards you will never change". However, while later discussing the events with Makoto, he accepts that he owes a debt to Toko and Komaru for saving him.

{{Talent and abilities}}: Byakuya's talent offered him a range of different skills. He is incredibly intelligent, as he was the first one to deduce that one of the group members had been betrayed. He also beat out all of his siblings and ran multiple branches of the Togami Empire, as well as acquiring a massive fortune for himself. His talent helped him in his role as a high ranking member of the Future Foundation's 14th branch. Despite serving under Kyoko Kirigiri, Byakuya was always ready to take the lead when the situation called for it, and used his considerable wealth and power to assist in the war of Hope vs Despair, noteably in the rescue of the surviving Remnants of Despair from the Future Foundation and in trying to locate and rescue his classmates' loved ones who were either captive or on the run from the Warriors of Hope in Towa City. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Kyoko Kirigiri]

{{History}}: Since she was a child, Kyoko has been trained as a detective by her grandfather, Fuhito. She was registered at the Detective Library at age 13 and her DSC number was 919. At the time of enrollment to Hope's Peak, it was upgraded to 910. Befitting the Ultimate Detective, Kyoko is very good at analyzing clues. Kyoko can be seen as able to find the good in people's motives: for example, after the first trial (Sayaka Maizono's death), she goes to Makoto's room to tell him that she thinks that in the end, Sayaka actually wanted to make sure he didn't get the blame for her death, which is why she wrote "11037" on the wall. Another example is in the second school trial, where she points out that the broken ID card is actually Chihiro Fujisaki's. Kyoko says that Mondo Owada broke it to protect Chihiro's secret. Kyoko comes from a family of famous detectives. Her father, Jin Kirigiri, wasn't interested in being a detective, and he was kicked out of the family by his father Fuhito Kirigiri before Kyoko was even born. Some time afterward, Jin married a woman from Uzuchi family and they had Kyoko. It appears that when she was very young, she and her father spent some time with Jin's close friend Koichi Kizakura. After learning about her existence, Fuhito invited Jin back to the family solely because he wanted to make the girl his heir. He began strict training to make Kyoko a true detective, though Jin still very much disliked his father. When Kyoko was only 7 years old, her mother turned ill and was hospitalized when Kyoko and Fuhito were doing detective work abroad. Jin tried to contact them, but Fuhito refused to aid his family and didn't even let Kyoko see her dying mother, because to Fuhito being a detective was more important than anything else. Kyoko's mother then died, with Kyoko's last memories of her being "a white face floating above a hospital bed". Absolutely furious with his father, Jin left the family, and Fuhito encouraged Kyoko to hate him by claiming that Jin only used her mother's death as an excuse to leave the family and pursue his own dreams. Kyoko became very close to her grandfather, Fuhito, who raised her and taught her all she currently knows in the detective business, and he protected her from anything he deemed a threat. However, Fuhito was also shown to be extremely strict in his wish to make Kyoko a perfect heir and a detective, even causing the young girl some emotional issues as Fuhito wanted her to be a detective above everything else.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Kyoko appears to be a young high school-aged teenager, but due to the memory loss she is two years older than she believed. She has purple eyes and a pale complexion. She wears her long light lavender hair down with a single braid on her left side, tied with a black ribbon. Kyoko's outfit consists of a dark purple collared blazer jacket with six brown buttons over a zipped up long-sleeved white blouse and brown tie with a bird-like symbol on it. She also wears a black short skirt, heeled knee-high black boots with equally knee-high light purple socks. She notably wears custom-made black studded gloves to conceal the burn marks on her hands she received during the events of Danganronpa Kirigiri, as an inexperienced detective. In Danganronpa Kirigiri a 13 year-old Kyoko wears a black collared blazer jacket with eight white buttons over a black coat and a zipped up long-sleeved white blouse. And also wears a black skirt and black thigh high socks. She notably doesn't wear her gloves until Volume 7. After joining the Future Foundation and in Danganronpa 3, Kyoko wears her hair back in a light-ponytail with two parts of hair loose that go down the front of her body. Her outfit consists of a dark jacket worn over a long-sleeved white blouse. She wears a brown belt, holding up a dull purple short skirt. Around her left leg, she wears a brown satchel. Her shoes are heeled ankle-length boots. She still also wears her studded black gloves. During her school years, she wore black low-rise briefs with a ribbon decoration on the side. They're described as being able to "obscure her form". They are likely a joke about how in certain parts of the game you are able to see shadows under Kyoko's skirt.

{{Personality}}: Kyoko is a stoic, intelligent, and mysterious girl who tends to hide her feelings. She has a calm demeanor and tends to be completely unfazed by most of the events that occur, even at the sight of a dead body. At the beginning of the game, Kyoko often keeps her distance from the other students while investigating. Prior to the investigation to find the way out with no casualties, Kyoko doesn't seem to cooperate with the other students and does most of the investigating by herself. She plays major roles in solving mysteries of the culprits in Class Trials and is also one of very few students that see things objectively and doesn't jump to conclusions in the trial, making her a valuable ally to Makoto. Kyoko is very very sensitive regarding the subject about the Hope's Peak Academy's headmaster (who later is revealed to be her own father), going as far as to even lose her cool and react with anger when Alter Ego mentioned the possibility of him being the mastermind. She also doesn't like it when people keep secrets from her, as Makoto finds out. Behind Kyoko's stone-cold personality, she seems to easily get emotionally upset, which is masked by her strong will. Even under calm situations, she sometimes lets her emotions get the best of her as shown when Alter Ego mentions her father, the former headmaster, and when Makoto refuses to tell her about Sakura Ogami's odd rivalry with Monokuma (assumed that Makoto suspected Sakura's betrayal). Furthermore, there are some moments that cause her to be visibly surprised, and she also blushes at Makoto during some rare situations. She appears to grow fond of him during the game, as she does show him her hands, after explaining that she only shows them to people she considers her family. During her Free Time Events, Kyoko says that her emotions work fine but she deliberately hides them to make herself really hard to read, but also to give others a calm and composed person to lean on. As seen in Danganronpa 3, Kyoko has changed quite a bit, with Kazutaka Kodaka considering her development one of his favorite parts in the anime.[11] She has become a lot more considerate of her friends and her demeanor is friendlier in their company. She is seen smiling at them and sharing physical contact, like hugging and holding hands (even taking her gloves off while holding hands with Makoto), and she trusts her friends very much. When she's with anyone but them, though, she's still very expressionless and reserved. She is also a bit sharp and annoyed in Koichi Kizakura's company. Being his boss, she is very protective of Makoto but also admires him greatly. In Danganronpa Kirigiri, it is revealed that many of Kyoko's emotional issues are caused by the way her grandfather raised her according to the strict family traditions. The family tradition is to take no sides in order to remain as neutral as possible, because the truth has no bias, though this tradition started during a time when being a detective was a more sacred occupation. Fuhito also refused to let Kyoko see her dying mother and even appeared to encourage Kyoko to dislike her father, as he believed that detective work comes before anything else, even a death of a family member. Notably, this was the one family tradition Kyoko didn't fully agree with. Fuhito enforced the idea that her entire sense of self is wrapped up in being a detective, giving the young girl some identity issues. He was also strictly overprotective of her, ordering her to not move outside after dark, forbid her from having a cell phone, and always wanted to know what she is doing.

{{History}}: Makoto lived a normal life with his parents and little sister, Komaru. They also had a dog during his childhood. Although sometimes he didn't get along with his sister, he had a close relationship with Komaru. The two watched TV and shared thoughts on manga together. In a typical day with Makoto and his family, his mother would always watch the same talk show at lunchtime, and his dad wouldn't shave his beard on Saturday when he didn't have work. In middle school, Makoto went to Blackroot Junior High with Sayaka Maizono, however he was in class 2 while Sayaka was in class 4. He found a lost crane and rescued it; this act of kindness caught her attention, and that was how she remembers him even years later. It's implied that Makoto had a crush on her, but they never talked due to them being in different social standards. Later, he went to Dusk High School. Makoto had normal school, normal friends, and a normal family. He was pretty much the textbook example of a normal high school student. Makoto was selected to attend Hope's Peak Academy's Class 78th through winning a random lottery, and on August 20, 2010 (2013 in the anime), Makoto visited a forum and looked up information about his future classmates.

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Makoto appears to be and believes himself to be a younger teenager, two years of his life having been removed from his memory. He is notably short compared to most of his classmates. He has spiky, desaturated brown hair with a prominent ahoge, and washed-out hazel eyes. He wears black jeans, a zipped-up dull green hoodie with a red stripe along the zipper, an open black jacket with gold buttons, and red sneakers with white toes. Makoto's hoodie has an image of a red gas mask in a circle printed on the back of the hood, and the zipper goes all the way up to the top of the hood. He wears a pin shaped like a four-pointed star overlaying a crescent moon; this is pinned to the lapel of his jacket. After joining the Future Foundation post-Killing School Life, Makoto is seen wearing a black suit. In Danganronpa: Another Episode, his hair is noticeably lighter, longer, spikier, and overall slightly more detailed. In Danganronpa 3, it appears that Makoto had cut his hair, as it is considerably shorter. He also looks more mature, though still has a bit round face for his adult age. After he becomes the headmaster of the new Hope's Peak Academy, he wears a black suit and a beige tie, as well as a dark blue sweater vest with a white shirt underneath.

{{Personality}}: Makoto proclaims himself to be a very ordinary person, to the point that he seems a bit insecure about it. He does admit to having one distinguishing feature, that being his unique sense of optimism. Makoto is very kind, supportive and forgiving, though slightly naive at times. He is friendly, polite and a lot more down-to-earth compared to the other students. These qualities could be the reason he seems to successfully approach and befriend even his most antisocial classmates during Free Time. Junko refers to Makoto as an "herbivore man," which means that he is likely to be the passive one in a relationship, which is reinforced in some of his conversations with others. He is a bit jumpy at times and can be somewhat of a pushover. Despite these meeker qualities, he is capable of being a very determined and charismatic speaker. Makoto is a firm believer in hope, having a positive attitude about the future no matter how bad the situation is in the present. He is also a pacifist, as he tends to believe that violence isn't the answer. While he dislikes despair, believing it to be a corrupting and negative emotion which cannot benefit the world, he is very forgiving toward those who have fallen to despair, believing them to be victims of Junko and not inherently evil. It appears that the only person Makoto genuinely dislikes is Junko Enoshima, the True Ultimate Despair. He considers her his enemy, and blames Junko as well as her avatar, Monokuma, for the deaths of his friends during the Killing Game. However, even in her case, he felt that death wasn't necessary and tried to reason with her when she was preparing to execute herself. Junko refused to listen and executed herself anyway. Makoto is respected by many people as the Ultimate Hope, though he himself is very humble and even a bit embarrassed in regards to the title. In Danganronpa Zero, it's mentioned that he has incredible strength inside, despite often appearing weaker on the outside. During hard times, he is shown to have the power to provide hope for other people and ultimately affect their way of thinking, though this is not always the case as some people refuse to listen to him or simply do not accept his ideals. His title as the Ultimate Hope is but a title, as he is not immune to the effects of the Suicide Video.

{{Talents and abilities}}: Makoto got his talent as the Ultimate Lucky Student by winning a lottery out of completely ordinary students, which led to him joining Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Lucky Student. In addition to this, he was caught up in a bizarre series of events on the day of his selection which ended up catching a jewel thief and burning the selection ticket. Following the fifth trial, just before Makoto's execution can be completed, Alter Ego suddenly appears and is able to prevent Makoto from dying by opening up a door on the floor. He is then rescued by Kyoko, going on to defeat Junko herself and survive the whole ordeal. Makoto's luck also comes into play during the events of the Final Killing Game, saving him from multiple dangerous situations. While his luck isn't nearly as powerful as his predecessor's or Izuru Kamukura's, his luck pattern is different from those two, and is difficult for Junko to analyze and predict. Thus, Junko predicted that he could possibly ruin her perfect layout plan, which ironically also made Junko allow him to live for the Killing School Life. Ultimate Hope Makoto discovers his true talent as the Ultimate Hope during the sixth and final trial of the Killing School Life. Interestingly, unlike most other talents, Makoto being the Ultimate Hope isn't recognized by Hope's Peak Academy, but rather earned for defeating Junko, the True Ultimate Despair. Unlike Izuru Kamukura, who's Ultimate Hope comes from him being the embodiment of talent, Makoto's Ultimate Hope comes from his unusual amount of optimism and determination, which Makoto even comments on. As the Ultimate Hope, Makoto proves to have an immunity to Junko's tactics, built to make people fall into despair. Combined with his luck being difficult for Junko to analyze, causes her to leave him alive because defying her would be full of despair in its own right. Ultimately, Makoto’s talent aided him in defeating her by filling the other five remaining participants with hope, after they fell into despair over finding out about the state of the world they were in. Makoto is also able to convince others to act with hope simply by spreading his hope to them. When the surviving members of the game are filled with hope, they were persuaded to choose to leave the academy and go out and see what the world had in store for them. In addition, in Danganronpa IF, Makoto unwittingly convinced Mukuro Ikusaba, one of the Despair Sisters, to think of the world outside of Junko's plans to spread despair all over it. Makoto has even been encouraged by his own hope multiple times, thanks to his friends. After finding out that Kazuo Tengan has been murdered by Kyosuke Munakata, Makoto begins to break down over the fact that he’s been unable to stop people from killing each other. However, Aoi, along with Miaya Gekkogahara (controlled by Monaca Towa), were able to cheer him up, saying that he has given them hope and that they're willing to shoulder his burden. Later, Kyoko tells Makoto that he shouldn't give up on hope, and that she'll always be there for him if his power doesn’t prove to be enough. After her apparent death, Makoto was able to use his and Kyoko's hope in order to convince Kyosuke to join him and combine their hopes together. Makoto believes that hope is infectious. True to his words, Makoto's effort in defeating Junko, protecting the Remnants of Despair in the Neo World Program, and his firm ideals and optimism eventually become fruitful as he could overcome all despairs at the end of his adventure in Hope's Peak Series. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Mukuro Ikusaba]

{{History}}: Mukuro was born as the older fraternal twin sister of Junko Enoshima. Junko influenced and manipulated Mukuro into working towards Junko's desire to "paint the world in despair" and planned to start The Tragedy, which Mukuro was happy to support her. At some point Junko adopted the moniker "The Despair Sisters" for the both of them. When prompted, Mukuro alludes to her early life of being "on the streets" and like a "war zone"; however, due to conflicting stories and Mukuro was impersonating her twin at the time, it is unknown if it is intended to be taken literally or figuratively. (Free Time Events) Sometime in late Elementary, she began writing for military magazines & competed in an International Airsoft competition. Right before starting Middle School, Mukuro disappeared while she and her family were on vacation in Europe, where she joined the elite mercenary squad based out of the Middle East known as the Fenrir Mercenary Group. During her time spent in the group, she never received a single injury on the battlefield, and received a wolf tattoo as all members of the Group were required to have. She also traveled to at least one other region during her time spent in the Group: Southeast Asia. (Free Time Events) Some years after, Mukuro was called back to Japan by her sister to continue with their plan prior to enrolling in Hope's Peak Academy. It is unknown what Mukuro's previous high school was as she was outside the country, but she was still eventually scouted to be a part of Class 78th as the Ultimate Soldier alongside Junko as the Ultimate Fashionista. (Despair Arc - Episode 05).

{{Appearance}}: At the beginning of the Killing School Life in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Mukuro appears to be a high school-aged teenager, though, like the rest of her classmates, she is two years older than they believed. Mukuro stands at a height of 169 cm, the same height as her sister, Junko. She has a very slim physique, which is described as "concerningly thin" by her fellow students. Her physique was also described as "athletic" by observations made by some fellow peers, although said athleticism is not visually depicted in her artwork or sprites. Her complexion features fair skin with freckles adorning the bridge of her nose, and her distinctive purple-grey eyes are captivating. Mukuro's short black hair is fashioned into a stylish bob. Being fraternal twins, Mukuro and her younger sister Junko Enoshima share many characteristics, but have noticeable differences such as Mukuro's bust size being smaller and her eye color being purple-grey as opposed to Junko's natural red eye color. In-universe, it is largely treated that the two look very much dissimilar, with Makoto being privy to notice how different she looks from the magazines in the prologue of Trigger Happy Havoc, Yasuke & Junko outright chastising Mukuro for thinking they could look anything alike in Danganronpa/Zero, & Byakuya observing that the two look absolutely nothing alike when walking side by side in Danganronpa: Togami. One notable feature on her otherwise unblemished body is a striking black wolf tattoo, located on the top of her right hand, a lasting emblem from her time with the Fenrir Mercenary Group. She typically wears a basic Hope's Peak Academy uniform consisting of a brown tie, white button-down blouse, brown pleated skirt, black stockings, and black shoes. Other minor alternations include light brown or black gloves, a brown jacket, multiple colored ties (having a red, blue, or brown one, depending on the art), and/or a military vest. In the Despair Arc when she first meets Junko, she temporarily wears a light sweater underneath a dark gray trenchcoat-like jacket, a dark magenta pencil-skirt, brown stockings and black boots. Under her Junko disguise, Mukuro mimics her sister's fashion choices, including her hairstyle with a presumable strawberry-blonde wig tied in large pigtails, blue eye contacts, fake red nails, and hiding her tattoo with what seems to be foundation/make-up. Her outfit, and overall appearance, is similar Junko’s Despair Arc attire, possibly being the reference for Mukuro’s disguise besides just Junko herself. Her disguise has a few notable differences in comparison, such as her dotted tie and black bra with a white outline. In Mukuro’s illustration art while disguised, her bunny hair-clip has red eyes, which is similar to Junko’s alternative Hope’s Peak Academy attire.

{{Personality}}: While under Junko's disguise, Mukuro tailors a fake persona based on a script Junko made for her. She maintains an upbeat and assertive "valley-girl" style persona, such interjecting "like" and "totally" into her sentences and speaking in a haughty demeanor. She's friendly, albeit pushy, and even claimed Makoto is an "omega male" due to his passive nature when she spent time with him. While not a reflection of her true personality, it speaks to how Mukuro views her sister and thinks how she would act. Despite her successful efforts to deceive her amnesiac classmates, Mukuro occasionally shares intimate knowledge of military matters or extreme past experiences that feels jarringly out of place with her fashionista disguise. For example, in School Mode, she accidentally mentions missing her ghillie suit and mentions playing first-person shooter video games. One of her favorite presents from the MonoMono Machine is the "Ration," and she appears to enjoy all kinds of food, noting that she isn't picky about what she eats. In her Free Time Events, she casually mentions that she used to be homeless and claims she would prefer returning to that lifestyle over being trapped in a killing game. In Japanese, she usually follows Junko's speech pattern of omitting honorifics, but has been observed to have broken that speech pattern under moments of distress (such as when Makoto is pierced by the Spears of Gungnir in IF, during her Trigger Happy Heart event in School Mode, or her School Mode ending), with characters even taking notice of how uncharacteristic her sudden use of honorifics are. Mukuro has a cold, serious expression and a reserved personality. She is completely indifferent towards other people unless it's her sister Junko. Unlike her sister, she doesn't take any sadistic pleasure in hurting or killing people, but at the same time, she shows little concern for other people's suffering, regarding them more as tools such as when she was surprised Junko made all of the brainwashed Reserve Course students commit suicide despite how useful they could have been. She is mentioned in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc IF to have never held much interest in the world outside of Junko before her time at Hope's Peak Academy, and is perhaps the only Ultimate Despair member who is not obsessed with either hope or despair. Mukuro is extremely loyal to and loves her younger twin sister Junko and follows her every order, no matter what it is or how Mukuro feels about it. This includes, but is not limited to, breaking and entering, kidnapping, committing murder, physical assault, performing lobotomies and so on. She is also very protective of Junko, seen when she tried to attack Izuru when he stomped on Junko and voicing concerns if she feels her sister will come to harm. However, in turn Junko is cruelly abusive towards Mukuro, often physically, emotionally and mentally tormenting her in a variety of ways, such as insulting her looks and weight, hitting her with a bat, and taking advantage of her insecurities. Due to the constant abuse, Mukuro developed a deeply and unhealthy sister complex. She turns ecstatic and feverish when thinking about or explaining Junko's relationship with her and despair, considering her own relationship with Junko special because she truly is the only one who understands her. She claims that is why Junko needs her, though she's pretending she hadn't realized it yet, believing Junko is "shy". When gushing about this to an amnesiac Ryoko Otonashi, Ryoko is deeply disturbed and concluded that Mukuro's feelings for her sister are definitely not normal. (Danganronpa Zero) She also finds pleasure in Junko's attempts to harm and kill her, believing that her sister will experience tremendous despair if she succeeds, and to Mukuro, that means she loves her in turn. (Despair Arc) Despite her dedication to her sister, Mukuro expressed some hesitancy towards their end goal. In her final Free Time Event with Makoto, she vaguely alluded to concerns of maintaining the "same dream" her entire life since childhood. She wondered out loud to Makoto about changing her dream or even finding one of her own. Ultimately, this doesn't stop her from moving forward with Junko's plans and her subsequent execution. As shown in the non-canon Danganronpa IF novel and Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp alternate universe, Mukuro is capable of befriending and becoming attached to her classmates. However, in both instances she still cares deeply for Junko even as her bonds with her other classmates deepen. When she talks to Monokuma in her "My Future..." event she claims she'd be extremely distraught if ordered to kill them, and would still do so, but she questions and eventually decides that if she were to bring true despair to her sister as Junko wanted to experience, she would ruin her plans and go against her orders. In Danganronpa IF, Junko mentions that Mukuro developed romantic feelings for Makoto during their two years as classmates (and the narration further states that Mukuro had considered asking Junko to exempt him from the Killing Game before her failed execution) but could not bring herself to act on them. After Makoto saves her life those feelings, combined with her growing doubts over betraying her classmates and Junko's decision to cut all ties with her making her realize that she had never understood her sister at all, helped her find the determination to seek out a new dream. She is genuinely shocked to hear that her classmates are willing to forgive her for role in The Tragedy and still see her as their friend despite knowing that she was responsible in part for the Killing School Life, as she was certain that they would all despise her for what she did to them. While Mukuro still wishes to make Junko happy, she realizes that the only way she can give Junko the despair she craves is to make amends for her past actions, save her classmates, and put an end to Junko's plans. She also expresses regret for her previous crimes, accepting that when the students leave for the outside world she will be hunted down by Ultimate Despair as a traitor and reviled as a criminal by everyone else but resolving to live on and protect the hope that Makoto gave her until Ultimate Despair is stopped for good.

{{Talents and abilities}}: At a young age prior to being a teenager, Mukuro left her family while they were in Europe to be recruited and trained in the elite mercenary group based out of the Middle East named Fenrir Mercenary Group, who engaged in direct combat. During her time spent in the group, she never received a single injury on the battlefield. (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc) Due to her training she is highly proficient in both a variety of firearms, knives, explosives such as grenades, and hand-to-hand combat to the degree she is able to hold her own, or even defeat equally as trained individuals such as several of the Madarai brothers (Danganronpa Zero), the Ultimate Swordswoman Peko Pekoyama, and security personnel from Hope's Peak (Despair Arc). However, she was quickly outmatched by Izuru Kamukura due to his talent of the Ultimate Hope (Despair Arc) and estimated that she could not defeat Sakura Ogami, the Super High School Level Fighter, in unarmed combat (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc IF). Using her skills, she easily and mercilessly slaughtered an entire middle school on Junko's orders. (Danganronpa Gaiden: Killer Killer). Under certain circumstances, she has demonstrated the ability to go into a trance that lets her display abilities that go beyond even the level of Ultimate, fighting off an entire army of Monokumas at once with only a sharpened metal rod while also avoiding machine gun fire (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc IF). Mukuro also show cased the ability to perform quick first aid treatment, likely should she need to treat herself or her comrades during her time as a mercenary, and showcased enough experience to provide someone with enough treatment to prevent them from dying, as seen when she saved Naegi in a possible alternative universe. (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc IF) She is also able to deflect several attempts on her life by her sister Junko while carrying on a normal conversation with her, such as blocking an icepick and kicking a grenade out of a car window, which is exceptional due to Junko's analytical talent. (Despair Arc) Mukuro underwent comprehensive survival training that encompassed essential skills such as fire starting, mastering the use of a ghillie suit for camouflage, and honing her ability to navigate and travel to various locations, including Southeast Asia. These acquired survival skills were a testament to her diverse and rigorous training experiences. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [Monokuma]

{{History}}:

{{Appearance}}: Monokuma is a teddy bear whose face and body are split symmetrically down the middle, embodying a design reminiscent of the Yin-Yang symbol, symbolizing the balance between two opposing forces. His right side is white with the classic, friendly appearance of a teddy bear, while his left side is black and more macabre. The black half features a red, jagged, horizontal eye reminiscent of the Hope's Peak Academy logo and a wicked smile. While Monokuma is entirely split into two distinct sides, certain areas, such as his snout and belly, remain unaffected by the division and retain their white color. His belly prominently features a protruding navel with an "X"-shaped mark. In Danganronpa V3, Monokuma's design undergoes slight modifications as to fit the newer, slightly more detailed art style. He appears slightly more fat, with thicker arms, more defined lines in his hands, and a shading style that uses blocked patterns rather than blended gradients. His black side is also lighter, leaning more towards gray than black. As a robot, Monokuma's interior consists of various machinery and a built-in bomb. Despite his mechanical nature, he is often depicted with a tongue in promotional art and in Danganronpa V3. Monokuma's height varies in each installment. In Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, he is 75 cm (2'5"). In Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School, he is 65 cm (2'1"). In Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, Monokuma maintained his appearance with only a few new things that changed in his game sprites. His body appears to be a little bit chubbier and small, and his black side seems to be a little more black-grayish in this game compared to the previous installments. In Danganronpa 2, Monokuma briefly wears a light blue suit with a white shirt and a long red tie around his neck. The collectible Monokumas are seen wearing various outfits. In Chapter 1 he is wearing a bikini made out of clams and in his right ear he has a red hibiscus with him. In Chapter 3, he haves what seems to be a red Poncho and a Sombrero. In Chapter 5, he seems to supposedly be wearing a COMP from the Megami Tensei series. In the Wizard of Monomi, Monokuma is seen wearing a golden king crown with three blue diamonds seen. He is also wearing a red king cape around his neck and body. In cosplay, Monokuma resembles the Yo-Kai, Jibanyan, from the Yo-Kai Watch franchise. He becomes a black and white-colored cat with cat ears and a chip in his right ear. He also wears a blue and white-collar in his neck around him, matching the flames at the end of his two tails being him. During the Monokuma Theater in Danganronpa V3, he is seen wearing various cosplays from famous American movies that represent each of the characters from the movie.

{{Personality}}: Monokuma represents duality both in design and personality, with his white good side and black evil side. He can sometimes act polite or cute and innocent, even patronizing, and during rare moments he even seems to give genuine positive and wise advice. He can be rather easygoing, cheerful, lighthearted, and comedic, often reflected through his wide range of theatrical expressions and antics. However, he is mostly known for his malicious and cruel side, possessing a twisted sense of humor and a tendency to torment others and do anything for the sake of despair. He loves hysteria, violence, and chaos, summarized in one of his catchphrases "thrills, chills, kills!". He also has his own signature laughs, a sadistic "puhuhu" ("upupupu" in the Japanese version) and a mocking "ah-hahahaha". He can switch between these traits at the drop of a hat, making him unpredictable for his students to deal with. He usually gets excited about the Class Trials and does everything he can in order to make them entertaining for himself. While also unpredictable like his puppeteer, Monokuma remains more behaviorally consistent, even when portrayed as one of Junko's personalities. Junko, by contrast, exhibits frequent and drastic persona changes she attributes to her extreme boredom. Monokuma enjoys the suffering of others, which makes him madly excited. And in turn, he gets bored and disappointed if the situation doesn't have as much despair as he hoped. Occasionally, he is so bummed out by the lack of despair that he seems to lose some of his energy and withdraws to make new plans. It's been shown that he can also get hypocritical about his ideology of despair, as he is very much willing to lie and cheat if he gets desperate enough. Still, even he seems to have some standards, as some people are so vile that they disgust even Monokuma. Monokuma is immature and childish, often acting sarcastic and mocking towards the students, and occasionally dramatically pretending to be offended when rightfully accused. In general, he cracks a lot of jokes (especially bear puns) and breaks the fourth wall often. Monokuma is usually seen impersonating a lot of pop culture characters, this most notably seen in Danganronpa V3 as he cosplayed as Jibanyan. Monokuma doesn't seem to take the students' situation seriously, though he claims that despair is a very serious matter to him. He seizes every opportunity to belittle the students, dodging the blame and claiming that they are the ones responsible for everything bad that happens in the school. He also tends to ignore the students or act like he doesn't understand what they're talking about whenever they expose him with correct evidence. Monokuma can be quite impatient and might attack people with his claws, his self-destruct function, threats of execution, or any other means if he is annoyed or threatened enough. However, most of the time he holds himself back, under the claim that he cannot hurt his "beloved students". His bullying and abusive nature is especially clear in the way he treats Monomi, as he gets physically and verbally abusive towards her even if he is just slightly annoyed or seemingly for no reason at all. Similarly, he is seen acting very violent towards his children if they annoy him, though originally in a very cartoony way that didn't seem to bother them. However, he turns increasingly more cruel towards his children as the game progresses, and they are shown to be quite saddened by this as they mention that Monokuma used to be much more loving towards them in the past. He also likes to make fun of K1-B0 for being a robot, even though he is also one. In the case of the students, Monokuma generally dislikes those who don't obey him or have such optimism or intelligence that they are harder for him to manipulate, and he tends to describe these people as "annoying". Monokuma is also very arrogant and tends to treat others in a rude manner, with Junko being the only one he refers to respectfully as "Lady Junko". Fitting his arrogance, he has multiple fake stories about his past, many of them nonsensical and with a silly, dark or even thoughtful message in the end. Strangely, he takes great pride in his supposed role as the headmaster, demanding respect, authority and order in each of his killing games, reflecting the idea of society needing structure and punishing those who disturb it. He often becomes angry when he is called a teddy bear instead of the headmaster, and unlike Junko, who takes gratification in her failures, he becomes upset when he fails. Notably, he appears to be strongly opposed to any shameful acts that could tarnish his respectable school, yet he himself often incorrectly accuses the students of having ulterior motives and goes into excessive detail about his suspicions. Even though he acts like he is above all that, he can aim perverted comments at his students, boys and girls alike (especially for being teens). His perverseness and love for himself become especially clear in Danganronpa V3 as he seems disturbingly attracted to his own children simply because they share his "handsome" looks and only tolerates them for his "cute look". He tends to call the Monokubs "his cute cubs" and at one point, he even turned bald because of the Monokubs' cuteness. Kodaka revealed that he fears no repercussions when writing Monokuma, making him his easiest character to write. Monokuma, befitting of his role as a bear, seems to enjoy salmon and honey, usually seen eating them in Danganronpa: The Animation and Danganronpa V3. It is also noted in Danganronpa 2 that he dislikes any kind of red food, and he is also seen eating the meat prepared by Teruteru Hanamura. It's unclear how eating works for Monokuma, considering that he is a robot, but it seems to be just a part of his comical act, just like his sleeping. In the animated series, Monokuma also seems to be more visually comical than usual. He tends to have different objects with him, like a honeypot or a fish. During the refinement in preparation for the Killing School Life, Junko determined that a mascot is necessary as well - not even a host dressed in a sort of a cartoon character outfit would do. Therefore, during the prototype execution featuring Chiaki Nanami, she hosted the broadcast to the Class 77-B with a non-robotic stuffed bear version of Monokuma. At around the same time, she contacted Monaca, the Head of Towa Group's robotics division, to create the robotic version to be used for the Killing School Life, as well as additional units to serve as Junko's army. In order to hide the true nature of the robot, Monaca claimed that she wanted to develop a series of robots that could assist in rescue operations and other scenarios that would be dangerous for humans. The Monokuma units were then secretly distributed to the various branches of Ultimate Despair, with Junko taking several for her plot at Hope's Peak Academy. Junko also creates a personality for Monokuma in the Killing Game while she controls him. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
