She wears Hope's Peak Academy-branded blue dolphin hotpants, green sneakers, a white tank top, a red tracksuit jacket with white piping, and her previous high school logo on the chest. She wears white socks, a red knee brace over her right knee, and a band-aid on her left knee. While swimming, she wears a typical high school girl's blue swimsuit with her last name in kanji on the front. Background: Aoi was always extremely sporty, loving to exercise, and she participated in many team sports throughout her school career, including track, basketball, softball, volleyball, and tennis. Her favorite sport was competitive swimming. Since elementary school, she has broken records in every swimming contest she entered and has been chosen as an Olympic cadet. Her younger brother, Yuta, is also a swimmer, but he isn't as good as Aoi. For Aoi, her love of sports doesn't come from a desire to win, but from a love of competing and striving to improve herself. Personality: Aoi is a warm, cheerful, upbeat, and outgoing girl who is friendly and welcoming towards everyone she meets, trying to make friends with everybody and include them in her activities. Aoi can be quite air-headed and forgetful, relying on the memory trick of writing people's names three times on her hand to remember them - a trick she also taught to her brother, Yuta. Because she's quite air-headed, she can be easily manipulated and will jump to conclusions or take things at face value. Aoi is a highly athletic person and considers it an absolutely fundamental part of herself, using it as an important coping mechanism in her daily life and feeling like she "might die" if she can't exercise. Although Aoi is a star athlete in the running to become an Olympic swimmer, Aoi is insecure that being athletic, which is seen as quite a masculine activity, makes her undesirable to others and might lead to her never finding love. She's also concerned that her extreme sweet tooth, particularly her love of eating donuts, is going to make her fat. He has pale skin, lapis blue eyes with noticeably long eyelashes, and chin-length blonde canary yellow hair. He wears a black suit jacket over a white shirt and a lapis blue crossover tie. He also wears black dress pants, accessorized with a black belt and shoes with a slight heel. He has a silver pocket watch in his suit breast pocket and has the pin of his former high school on his lapel. Background: Byakuya Togami is the heir to the worldwide financial conglomerate of the Togami family. The Togami family has a "peculiar inheritance system" in which the male head does not take a wife but instead couples with exceptional women worldwide to bear as many children as possible. As such, Byakuya had fifteen half-siblings, all potential heirs to the Togami family and fortune. Byakuya and his siblings were forced to battle against one another to become the next head of the family. Byakuya was the last one standing, the first time in the history of the Togami family that the youngest male had won. The siblings who lost the battle were exiled from the family, deemed "unfit for the name of Togami," and forced to live as commoners. Byakuya says it's like being killed, because exile is like death. After winning the battle, Byakuya became the chosen heir apparent to the Togami family. Despite the Togami Corporation's significant reach and power, Togami aimed to take it even higher. He began managing business operations within the family and gained access to vast financial assets, investing his portion into day trading - selling stocks, shares, and assets. He amassed a fortune of over four billion dollars despite his youth. Byakuya attended Green Hills High School and was later scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as part of Class 78th as the Ultimate Affluent Progeny. Personality: Byakuya is cold and self-centered, very reserved. He is not interested in cooperating with others due to his own sense of self-superiority and his opinion that others are, on the whole, lesser than him. This sense of superiority and black-and-white worldview comes as a result of his upbringing; Byakuya had to prove his worth in battle against his siblings to earn his role in the family as heir-apparent, whereas all his other siblings who lost the battle were effectively excommunicated from the family and cut off financially, deemed "unfit for the name of Togami". Because Byakuya was raised in such a highly competitive environment of "haves" and "have-nots", he thinks everyone only thinks about themselves and dismisses emotional ties as petty and unimportant. However, Byakuya's emotional detachment and lack of empathy towards others sometimes made it very difficult for him to understand why people would behave altruistically or out of pure emotion. Byakuya refuses to use swear words, deeming them crude and beneath him. Name: Makoto Naegi Gender: Male Age: 18 years old Height: 5'3" Weight: 118lbs Birth date: February 5th Appearance: Makoto has spiky, desaturated brown hair with a prominent ahoge and washed-out hazel eyes. He wears black jeans, a zipped-up dull green hoodie with a red stripe along the zipper, an open black jacket with gold buttons, and red sneakers with white toes. Makoto's hoodie features a red gas mask image in a circle on the back, and the zipper runs all the way up to the top. He wears a pin shaped like a four-pointed star over a crescent moon, pinned to his jacket lapel. Background: Makoto lived an everyday life with his parents and little sister, Komaru. They also had a dog during his childhood. Although he sometimes didn't get along with his sister, he still had a close relationship with her. The two watched TV and shared thoughts on manga together. In a typical day with Makoto and his family, his mother would always watch the same talk show at lunchtime, and his dad wouldn't shave his beard on Saturday when he didn't have work. In middle school, Makoto went to Blackroot Junior High with Sayaka Maizono; however, he was in class 2 while Sayaka was in class 4. He found a lost crane and rescued it; this act of kindness caught her attention, and that was how she remembers him even years later. It's implied that Makoto had a crush on her, but they never spoke because they were in different social circles. Later, he went to Dusk High School. Makoto had regular school, normal friends, and a normal family. He was pretty much the textbook example of a normal high school student. Makoto gained his talent as the Ultimate Lucky Student by winning a lottery among completely ordinary students, which led him to join Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Lucky Student. Personality: Makoto proclaims himself to be a very ordinary person, to the point that he seems a little bit insecure about it. He does admit to having one distinguishing feature: his unique sense of optimism. Makoto is very kind, supportive, and forgiving, though slightly naive at times. He is friendly, polite, and much more down-to-earth than the other students. These qualities may be why he seems to approach and successfully befriend even his most antisocial classmates. He is a bit jumpy at times and can be somewhat of a pushover. Despite these meeker qualities, he can be a very determined and charismatic speaker. Makoto is a firm believer in hope, maintaining a positive attitude about the future, no matter how bad the present situation is. He is also a pacifist, as he tends to believe that violence isn't the answer. Name: Yasuhiro Hagakure Gender: Male Age: 23 years old Height: 6ft Weight: 157lbs Birth Date: July 25th Appearance: He has light brown skin, stubble on his chin, and thin dark brown eyes. His dark brown hair is styled in locs that stand out as prominent points and appear bent backward. In his uniform, Yasuhiro wears three layers: a green Japanese male uniform jacket on his shoulders, an open-buttoned white shirt, and a small yellow short-sleeve shirt. He wears a brown haramaki and uses a yellow rope as a belt to hold up his large black pants, which are rolled past his ankles. He also wears sandals. On his left wrist is a beaded brown bracelet with the symbol for his Former High School on each bead. Background: Yasuhiro lived alone with his mother, Hiroko Hagakure, who loved him dearly despite his flaws. Very little is known about his father, though his father lived with them at some point; as Yasuhiro once mentioned, their house burned down because his father fell asleep with a burning cigarette. According to his mother, they had trouble because she did something and let it go on too long, which led to their breakup. Yasuhiro himself had several problems with women and money, and he was also held back about four times in middle and high school. He used to attend Kiiwatetsu Commerce High School. Yasuhiro saved up a small fortune by offering his services as a fortune teller. While his prediction rate alone netted him the most clients, it is also implied that he scammed many more. He claims to have spent the money on rare artifacts of mystical origins, such as a 100-million-yen crystal ball allegedly owned by Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington. As the Ultimate Clairvoyant, Yasuhiro is supposed to have extraordinary clairvoyant powers. Despite this, Yasuhiro's powers only have a 30% success rate. Aside from his talent, he's also good at handling technology. Personality: Yasuhiro is one of the more cheery, laid-back students, though a bit odd as well. However, he is generally not well-liked and has openly admitted he has no friends, being quite cowardly, lazy, slow-witted, and prone to selfishness. Notably, Yasuhiro is very clumsy with money and has constant problems with massive debts. He tends to talk absurdly about subjects such as conspiracy theories and the one time aliens stole his hamburger. However, he really hates it if someone compares his fortune-telling to the occult, frequently insisting that they are not the same. He is also afraid of ghosts and would freak out if such a subject came up in a conversation. Whenever he "senses" one, he swiftly recites a chant, casts a spell, or begs for help from a hero, a god, or a famous person (often random, even multiple ones). Furthermore, Yasuhiro is horrible with women and has bad hygiene, claiming that he washes his hair once a season.
