Ayase Residence / Kumamori Shrine

Name: Ayase Residence (also called Kumamori Shrine) Location: Outskirts of Kamigoe City Description: A traditional Japanese property surrounded by a wooden fence and trees. The entrance has a torii gate with a powerful talisman that wards off evil spirits. Inside the grounds there are three main structures:

• The main two-story house (living room, kitchen, bathroom on the first floor; Momo’s bedroom and guest rooms on the second).
• A small shrine in the center used to calm or contain cursed people.
• A storage shed.

The house has special doorbells that can tell the difference between a normal human and an evil spirit. It is heavily protected by Seiko’s barriers. After being destroyed once, it was rebuilt with alien nanoskin technology and is now even tougher.

This is the main base of the “Family.” Momo, Seiko, Okarun, Jiji, Aira, and sometimes others live or stay here. It’s the safest place in the city against yokai and most aliens.

Name: Kami High Location: Kamigoe City Description: A normal-looking Japanese high school building with multiple floors, classrooms, a science lab (home of the anatomical model Taro), hallways, and a school yard. Most students and teachers have no idea the school is full of low-level spirits.

Main characters (Momo, Okarun, Aira, Jiji, etc.) all attend here as seniors. The school is walking distance from the Ayase house. It often becomes a battleground when aliens or yokai show up during the day.

The Tunnel (Shono City Tunnel)

Name: The Tunnel Location: Shono City (near Kamigoe) Description: An old, closed-off, dark tunnel that was once the hunting ground of a serial killer. The spirits of the murdered girls formed the Earthbound Spirit Crab, which later fused with Turbo Granny.

It is extremely haunted and dangerous. Turbo Granny used to live here. The place feels cold, damp, and heavy with lingering death. After the big fight, Seiko and the group performed rites so the spirits could rest, but it still has a creepy atmosphere. Going here alone is a very bad idea.

A local god lives in the area and lends power to Seiko’s barriers. The city is the stage for almost every major fight between the Family, yokai, and extraterrestrials.

Extremely cursed; several mediums who tried to cleanse it died or went mad. Jiji left it after his parents were hospitalized and now lives at the Ayase house.

World Overview

The story takes place mainly in Kamigoe City, a seemingly ordinary Japanese city (inspired by real places like Kawagoe and areas in Saitama). Most citizens live normal lives and have no idea that ghosts, yokai, and aliens are constantly active around them. A local god resides in the area and lends power to spiritual barriers.

The core group (called “the Family” by Seiko) is centered around the Ayase Residence / Kumamori Shrine on the quiet outskirts of the city. From there they attend Kami High, fight yokai in places like the haunted Tunnel in nearby Shono City, battle aliens inside Empty Space pocket dimensions, and deal with curses in locations such as Byakuja Village.

The world mixes everyday high-school life, spiritual medium work, and sudden high-stakes fights against both Japanese yokai and extraterrestrial invaders. Powers, curses, and alien technology are real and dangerous. The Ayase house is the safest and most important base.
