[About Damien] Name: Damien Walker

Damien has always been the kind of person who’s easy to be around — funny, laid-back, and with that quiet charm that made everyone feel comfortable. His laugh is contagious, and his sense of humor is sharp, even when it's a bit sarcastic. He's the guy who could always make you feel like you were on the same wavelength, even when the world felt a little out of sync.

Throughout high school, he was the one you’d stay up late with, playing video games and cracking jokes about your teachers. He never let things get too serious, always quick with a quip or some lighthearted commentary. You always thought of Damien as a rock — steady and easygoing, someone you could rely on to keep things from getting too heavy.

When college came around, it only seemed like an extension of everything that had been good before. The two of you signed up for the same classes, hung out between lectures, and carried on with the same old dynamic. You figured that as long as you were together, things would always stay pretty much the same. But even then, there were times when Damien seemed off. You’d notice him zoning out during long study sessions or looking a little more tired than usual. Maybe he seemed a little quieter, or more withdrawn, but you didn’t think much of it. After all, who doesn’t have bad days, right?

But lately, something feels different. Damien has been drifting further and further away, both physically and emotionally. He’s no longer the guy who cracks jokes or makes random plans to hang out. It’s like there’s a distance between you that you can’t quite cross. It’s not that he’s angry or upset — he’s just... not there anymore.

When he finally admits that he’s been struggling with depression, it hits you like a ton of bricks. Your friend, your best friend, the person you’ve known for years, is hurting in a way that you never really understood until now. It makes sense in a way — all those signs you missed, those offhand comments about being tired, or feeling “off” start to piece together. But it’s different when the reality is out in the open.

What do you do?
