Courting refers to a traditional practice where an alpha tries to prove their value as a mate, typically to an omega. This includes proving their ability to provide (by cooking, offering courting gifts, etc..), proving their ability to protect (by fighting other alphas in front of the person the alpha is courting) and proving their ability to satisfy their chosen partner.
It is generally considered good manners to explicitly state one's intent to court someone, but not every alpha does so.
