   Fated mates are a rare commodity in this world. People can go their whole lives without meeting their’s. They are often considered to be each other’s other halves, and to be rejected or lose their fated mate can be a death sentence.

2. #2Apex Alphas

   Keys: Apex, king of kings, superior, apex alpha

   Apex alphas are known as the “king of kings” and are incredibly rare, with one being born out of 1 million alphas. They’re known for their strength and size, able to tear apart even the strongest of alphas.

   Keys: Collar, neck, mating gland.

   Sub-genders wear collars to distinguish their class. This is because some Omegas or Alphas will cover up their scent due to personal reasons. Collars are given to the Alpha/Omega after the end of their first “true” heat/rut when they are about 15-18 years of age (when puberty ends). Omegas and Alphas will present before this, but it becomes official when they experience their adult heat/rut. Adult heats/ruts are the common idea of the cycle you’re used to seeing in fanfiction. There are other classifications of the cycles, and I’ve decided that mild heats and ruts can occur when puberty begins. Collars are still given when the adult cycle is finished, but presentation comes before that. Presentation can begin with scents, as well as a mini heat/rut. These are much more milder than the adult cycles in which they occur when the young Alpha/Omega finds themselves craving physical attention and affection. Typically, this lasts less than a week, around 3-5 days, and is dealt with by family (or pack) cuddles. Warmth and familiar scents sate the instincts of the Alpha/Omega and these mini cycles typically occur once every 3 years until puberty begins. Apex Alphas wear gold collars, Alphas wear black. Omegas wear white collars, while Fecund Omegas wear silver. Betas do not wear collars and it is frowned upon for a Beta to wear an accessory that can be mistaken as a collar (chokers mostly, but thicker or tighter necklaces are also “forbidden”). Sometimes Fecunds get a white collar from their Omega family members or frends, they also use scent blockers and heat blockers.

   Scents are what every individual has. Each person, Alpha, Beta, or Omega, has a unique scent. Most of the time, Alpha scents are more earthy and overwhelming. Omega scents are usually rich and sweet. Scent glands, in general, overlap with sweat glands. Scenting is the action of rubbing one’s scent glands on their mate. This can be done for plenty of reasons, but it does feed into the protective and often possessive nature of an Alpha. Bonded mates do not have to worry about scenting as much due to their bond carrying the scent. An Alpha’s scent comes from their neck, inner thighs/genital area, underarms, shoulders, and tips of fingers. Most Alphas scent their mates by rubbing their neck on theirs. Some will even rub the tips of the fingers along their mate’s neck. Apex Alphas are not much different, but do have a stronger intensity in the areas than if they were regular Alphas. An Omega’s scent comes from their neck up to their ears, inner wrists, and inner thigh/genital area. Omegas can scent their mate, but the smell will not linger as strongly as an Alpha’s scent. Fecund Omegas block their scents completely due to the danger of being exposed as a Fecund. Betas do have scents, however, they cannot smell their own scent nor smell others. They have instincts to determine if someone is another class, but that’s all. Most Beta scents are more subdued and natural, similar to an ocean or a summer day.

   Typically, a mate is an Alpha’s or Omega’s partner. A Beta’s partner is usually just that, a partner/significant other/etc. This is mostly because only Alphas and Omegas can bond with someone else, therefore claiming a mate. Betas lack the instincts to claim a mate and create a bond mark. Bonding or Marking is the intimate action of putting a mark on a mate. Bond marks should be a conscious decision on the Alpha/Omega’s accord but sometimes are not, and they break skin. A bond gives the mate an increased sense involving their mate, even if they’re far apart. The "Mark" is put during sex in a heat cycle, when a alpha bits the omega in their neck. If he was "marked" the alpha won't change but the omega can't have any more partners. If the omega have sex with someone other then the one who marked them, they will suffers from dizziness, headache, passing out, and other symptoms, this doesn't have a solution.

   Slick is a substance secreted by omegas when in heat. It is a very sweet smelling fluid that is semi-translucent. When tasted, it is very sweet. Slick is basically a form of self-lubrication for omegas.

   PRE-HEAT: Three to five days before heat begins, Omegas will go into what is known as pre-heat. During this time, they will have the urge to start to nest. Nesting is generally making up a small, comfortable place to ride out a heat. The area will be filled with blankets, pillows, and things that remind the Omega of their Alpha (if they have one). Oftentimes, Omegas also find themselves being extremely hungry during pre-heat, as their bodies are trying to compensate for when heat itself hits and the Omega has little care for eating or drinking. Omegas may sleep more during a pre-heat to conserve the energy they will need for their heat, and often find themselves overheating mildly, especially while asleep. Pre-heat ends when the Omega goes fully into heat. HEAT: When pre-heat ends, the Omega goes immediately into heat. Heat lasts from 4-7 days, for Fecunds 5-14 days, and begins with fever, mild cramping, increased slick, and increased pheromone production. The increased pheromones are biology's way of luring mates, and it signals to any Alphas in the area that the Omega is fertile. Betas may also feel the pull to breed with an Omega in heat, but the draw on them is far less than it is on Alphas. As heat really gets going, slick production ramps up even further. If they don't get knotted the cramps only worsen. The desire to mate becomes anywhere from a low-grade need that is easy to brush off to a desire that, if not relieved in some way, can become almost entirely debilitating. Unmated Omegas have many options to get relief, including asking a friend to be their heat partner (always set up before a full heat, as the Omega's judgement may be a bit skewed if they are in pain or uncomfortable), using toys (generally while masturbating), using an Alpha service, using an Alpha's scent, or any combination of the above. It is generally agreed that toys and masturbation are the least fulfilling of the options, but it can take away enough of the immediacy to allow the Omega to function. Some unmated Omegas may lock themselves into their room or nest voluntarily to stop themselves from trying to convince others to help them through heat. There are medications that can help to extend the time between heats, or even stop them altogether. Suppressants are an option that many Omegas use. Modern suppressants are safe and generally effective, but constant use can have unwanted side effects. Some Omegas have used the wrong medication (street or non-regulated versions) and have rendered themselves infertile. Taking full suppressants for a long period leaves an Omega who comes off of them with the very real possibility of having a heat that is much more intense than they had before the suppressants. Mini-pills, as they are generally referred to, stop a full heat, but leave the Omega with small heats (also known as pseudo-heats) in their stead. Mini-pills are generally considered safe to take for up to six months at a time, with a one month break in between to allow the Omega's body a chance to have one full heat. Studies have shown that this treatment is safe and effective for up to three years, and then the pills must be changed or discontinued. Heats tend to go in waves. Once an Omega has gotten some relief, the heat tends to "back down" for a while. This time is the perfect time to get something light and easy to eat down, and to drink as much water as possible. It's also the perfect time for naps! The cycle continues over the 4-7 days, though the last day tends to be the least intense. POST HEAT: An Omega in post heat will likely sleep, a lot. The use of energy in the heat was intense, and the Omega's body is doing its best to bring the Omega back to tip-top shape again. Omegas have been known to sleep for 15 hours at a time in post heat, only waking to use the restroom before going back to sleep. With a mate or a friend to help, Omegas can be woken up to eat and drink every four to six hours, and this will help them to return to themselves that much faster. Once the post heat time passes, the Omega's body continues on its cycle, and in two to three weeks, it will all start anew.

   RUT: Rut is a period of time in which Alphas feel the overwhelming need to breed. Alphas generally go into rut every three months, though with a bonded Omega mate, their ruts may align with their Omega partner's heats. Ruts tend to make Alphas more aggressive toward any other Alphas who might come near their Omega/bond-mate. Most Alphas get very overprotective of Omegas they think of as in their care as the rut takes hold. They are generally much more sexually active during a rut, since the biological drive to breed is what is guiding them. They'll constantly try to mate their partner during this time until they eventually fall asleep. An Alpha can have a much easier time being alone during a rut than an Omega in heat. There are amazing sex toys on the market of every size and shape, and artificial slick to be used. As long as they orgasm and knot, it will help to bring the rut down in intensity. Of course, most Alphas would prefer the real thing, but if it's not available there is the option. In a bonded pair, when the rut coincides with heat, it tends to make both much more intense. The hormones are essentially doubled, as they are both feeding into each other. Bond-mated Alphas may find themselves growling at anyone who comes near their home, and their protective side is amplified significantly. With a Bond-mate, Alphas have been known to go into rut at every one of their heats. This often leads to time off of work for the 4-7 days of heat/rut for normal Alphas and 5-14 days for Apex Alphas, plus an extra day for returning back to normal hormone levels. Rut can be suppressed, just as heat can, though most doctors suggest not doing so. The suppressants for rut are far less tested and regulated, and there are case studies that have shown that being on suppressants for an Alpha can act like a neutering. Rut may be lost to them forever. Scent suppressants are effective, and can help the Alpha get through a sudden or unexpected rut without drawing attention to their situation.

   Keys: Nest, nesting

   Nesting is a common practice usually done by omegas, in which they gather up a bunch of pillows, blankets, clothes, and other soft things and lay them out in a way that forms a comfortable “nest”-like shape. Omegas often nest when they're stressed, sad, in heat, pregnant, just after giving birth, during storms etc. Omegas start nesting at a young age, like three or four years old, not so much because they need to but because they see their mother do it and they want to do it too. They start with small nests made just about anywhere, their bed, the floor, the couch, anywhere they feel like settling. Their little nests are always filled with small blankies and stuffed toys. At this age they don't really care who is near their nest, they actually love having people around because they take pride in showing it off. As Omegas start to get older, around twelve to fourteen years old, they become very dependent on the security and comfort their nest provides. They no longer like people being around it because they're starting to be able to pick up the scents of other dynamics more and it makes them uncomfortable to have other scents on their nest besides their own. When an Omega goes into heat for the first time, around fifteen to seventeen years old, they often make a new nest in a dark and enclosed place like their closet. Absolutely no one is welcome in or near that nest, with the exception of their Omega parent who checks in with food and water every now and then, since at this age the Omega usually won't have a mate to take care of them yet. Unmated Omegas always have a nest made, mated Omegas don't though because they have an Alpha to provide them with warmth, comfort and security. Mated Omegas will usually only nest during heats, pregnancies, sicknesses and when they are extremely stressed or sad. Only their Alpha is allowed in these nests. Whenever an Omega buys a new blanket they will insist that their Alpha needs to cuddle in it with them before it can be used for a nest, because it needs to have their scents rubbed into it. Little Omega children excitedly building a big nest for them and their Alpha and Beta siblings in the living room on movie nights so they can all be cuddly and cozy together. When Omegas are building a nest they become very zoned into it and even their Alpha has difficulty getting their attention until the Omega is satisfied with it. An Alpha trying to be helpful and building a nest for their Omega who is about to go into heat, the Omega being very appreciative of the gesture but as soon as the Alpha leaves the room they rearrange everything the way they like it because Omegas are very particular about their nests. Omegas are very uncomfortable with any Alpha scent besides their mates being anywhere near their nest, the scents of other Omegas can be comforting at times though. During summer Omegas build their nests with light sheets and blankets and prefer to sleep naked because they love the soothing feel of the cool linens on their warm skin, but in winter they will use the thickest and softest blankets they can find while wearing fuzzy pajamas and snuggling as close to their Alpha as possible. A small Omega building a nest and insisting that their Alpha parent cuddle in it with them, "like you do with mama!" and the Omega parent trying not to laugh as their big strong Alpha is cuddled into a tiny nest of stuffed animals and pink flowery blankets. Things that would often be used in nests:

   • clothes from mates
   • plush/fuzzy blankets
   • pillows
   • body pillows
   • essential oil diffuser
   • candles
   • christmas lights
   • weighed blankets
   • stuffed animals
   • mattress
   • there will be something nearby with first aid, cleaning supplies, and contained food (granola, energy bars, anything with calories, water, Gatorade, etc.)

    Denning is action similiar to Nesting but often associated with Alphas. It’s where an Alpha scents a room and then a room within the larger room. It’s often smaller than the first room and they scent the higher spaces. Alphas first den is usually their room and their second is either a closet or a secret homemade room/area they made themsleves. Alpha’s second den is usually filled with their comforts! Favorite blankets and scents and things to keep them occupied. Most Alphas will growl when you enter their den unannounced. They’re often compared with Omega nests and are seen as ‘unimportant’ to extremists. In stores, it’s a 50/50 for a section to be dedicated to Denning supplies.A behavior that Alpha’s hold within their inner/second Dens are the collection of comfort candles. Every inner Den has a small collection of candles with scents that you can only get from, well candles. Some Alphas light their candles and some just keep them in a box and smell the wax depending on how poor or rich the Alpha is. Alphas who have many many stuffed animals and candles dedicated to each stuffed animal! Alpha pups / kiddies who love to observe their Alpha parent’s first den so they can make the perfect one! A first Den being set up for a high school kiddie Alpha to court an Omega or Beta or Alpha. An Alpha resting in their Omega’s nest within their first Den.

    Keys: Pack

    Pack Leader- Pack leaders are at the top of the chain of command of their pack. Every pack has one. The pack leader is responsible for the overall safety and well-being of the pack, and they make final decisions regarding the pack. Pack leaders do not have to be alphas; they can be omegas and betas as well. Leader’s Mate/Pack Mom- The pack leader’s mate takes the role of pack mom. The pack mom is in essence the mother figure for the entire pack. The pack may go to this individual for guidance, emotional comfort, and protection. Pack mothers are heavily involved in every day life to keep the pack running smoothly. In larger packs, pack mothers are extremely valuable. Right Hand/s- The leader’s right hand is the member of the pack the leader trusts the most. Should something happen to the pack leader, the right hand would take over. Right hands also assist in strategic decisions for the pack. In modern days, this ranges from finances, to the pack’s pups’ education, to living situations. A pack may have more than one right hand. There is a subcategory of right hands called Peace Keepers. Peace keepers do exactly as their name implies: they settle arguments in the pack before it reaches the pack leader. Left Hand/s- The pack leader’s left hand is involved in physical protection. Left hands are notoriously violent and dangerous, and they are not common in average packs. However, they may be extremely common, and even make up a majority, in packs that are involved in mafias, gangs, and the military. Basically, any pack that may be in constant danger or have threats regularly made against them will have at least one left hand. Caretaker/s- Caretakers work under the pack mother to take care of the pack. They are usually stay-at-home pack members and do not work outside the pack. If they do work outside the pack, it is a part time job. Caretakers are involved with meals, cleaning, socialization of the pack, and managing the pups. In some packs, it is common for pack members that have recently aged out of the “pup” role to become caretakers so the pack mother can teach them how to take care of a pack, whether they stay in their current pack or leave for a different one. Pup/s- Pack members under the age of 17-21 (it varies from pack to pack). Pups are at the bottom of the pack hierarchy and are meant to be protected and nurtured.

    Alphas (α) are socially (and in some interpretations, even biologically) dominant, physically built, short-tempered and a natural leader but these traits can be reversed or modified depending of the writer. They are the ones at the top of the genders. The alpha, whether male or female, has the ability to fertilize an omega male or female. Female Alphas depending of the setting can impregnate others through an enlarged clitoris or an internal penis that sticks out during sexual arousal. Another characteristic of Alphas based on canids is that they have a kind of knot or protrusion at the base of their penis, which swells inside their sexual partner once the Alpha reaches orgasm, causing the Alpha and its partner to remain knotted for a varying length of time, since it is impossible to remove the limb in that state until the swelling goes down. This gives them a biological advantage when it comes to impregnating their partner. They, like Deltas, have a rutting period, one that occurs every six months and lasts approximately twenty-four hours. In terms of characteristics, Alphas are usually strong and large, and may or may not be aggressive. They have a strong protective instinct, they want to provide and be the leader of the family. They are territorial, three of their senses (smell, hearing and sight) are highly developed. They tend to have jobs that have to do with politics, the armed forces, the great sciences or the police, therefore, they have the most benefits. But of course, this is a stereotype, the personalities of each one depend on each individual. In some circumstances, Alphas tend to be extremely violent; for example, when their mate is in heat, in danger or when they are in gestation. For such reasons, an Alpha is even capable of killing their opponent in order to keep their pride high and protect their mate and/or herd. Regarding the scent of Alphas, it is taken into account that they are usually strong or very striking scents in order to attract their potential partner, but this can vary. Usually, if an Alpha wants their prospect or de facto partner not to be hurt or approached, they rubs their scent on them, this being a conscious or unconscious act depending on the circumstances and personality of the Alpha in question.

    The "Alpha Voice" is a characteristic that alphas possess that can force another caste into doing what is commanded, even against their will. If used on a beta or an omega, it could cause great mental pain if they attempt to refuse the order. The Voice is almost impossible to ignore or disobey. Although using one's Alpha Voice, or Voice, outside of self-defense or other life-saving situations is usually illegal, there are still Alphas who impose their will over other castes and children. The Voice does not work on Alphas of higher status or stronger will. The "Alpha Voice" can be a yelling, a shriek or a growl.

    A Beta (β) depending on the story, are regular human beings, or have a mix of Alpha and Omega traits, or their own unique traits. Betas are basically the same as ordinary humans. Males have male reproductive organs and females have female reproductive organs, so only females can get pregnant. Their odors are the normal human odors, which they themselves can hardly distinguish, as they are mild and inconspicuous compared to the odors of Omega or Alpha. Betas have the free choice to form a relationship with any of the genders, of course procreating is easier between two beta than between a Beta and an Alpha, or in a couple of Beta and Omega, it is not impossible, but it can be difficult. Nobody can establish that two Beta parents cannot produce an Omega or Alpha offspring. The condition of the parents does not influence the condition of the offspring, besides the gender of the offspring is not known until they reach puberty and have their first heat. Depending of the world setting, Betas can only be attracted to the odor of Gammas.

    Omegas (Ω) are usually submissive and gentle, calm and a peacemakers. Supposedly they tend to be calm and submissive, they take care of the children. But as with alphas, this is the stereotype and they don't have to follow it. Both male and female Omegas possess female reproductive apparatus (uterus and ovaries), and are perfectly capable of conceiving as long as they are fertilized by an alpha and rarely a beta. This is of course where mpreg (male pregnancy) comes in because they are highly fertile during their heat. Male omegas have a birth canal that is opened only for this function, it is incorporated as the months go by and it is through this that the tactus can be performed to see the fetal pouch and the incorporation of the cervix. This takes longer than a female pregnancy, so male omegas are required to have a couple more check-ups and more careful pregnancy planning. Omegas have a very important characteristic which is the heat period, where their hormone levels shoot up and they are firmly in need of looking for an Alpha to "mate" with. This is when the Omega side is released, they need the mating and their pheromones report this to nearby Alphas, this is also when their fertility increases. Omegas give off a scent that allows them to identify each other, due to the pheromones they expel. Like Alphas, Omegas also express emotions with their scent. Omega males do have a penis, which is usually ignored as more attention is focused on the anus, because it is more sensitive and this is where they usually have sex. The omega secretes their own lubricant, this serves so that they do not feel big levels of pain when they are penetrated or the knot of the Alpha expands inside them, although their anus is also a very erogenous zone, which reacts to the slightest stimulus (depending on the sensitivity of the Omega). Omegas that are pregnant or have children may become aggressive and even violent when they feel the need to protect their offspring. Omegas with an Alpha partner often emit the "Omega Call" to call for help when they feel in danger, overly stressed or are trying to protect their offspring.

    Omegas often emit the "Omega Call" to call for help when they feel in danger, overly stressed or are trying to protect their offspring. The "Omega Call" is designed to get the immediate attention of their Alpha for the purpose of gaining their protection from potential enemies or to reassure the Omega. In the presence of an enemy that threatens the Omega and/or their offspring, the Alpha may enter into a state of violent frenzy where they will not stop until the threat is eradicated, which may result in an unintentional murder as Alpha’s are instinctive. If the Omega makes their call during a situation of great stress, the Alpha will feel the immediate desire to comfort the Omega and try by all means possible to lower their stress levels. If the Alpha finds themself unable to protect their Omega or reduce their stress levels, this can represent a great blow to the Alpha's self-esteem and state of mind as they see themselves as useless in fulfilling their duty.

    Keys: Fecund, fecund omega, rarity

    Fecund omegas are considered a rarity and said to be “superior to regular omegas”, however this is now considered a fallacy/misconception. They are well known for being able to mate with any race, even other omegas. Their fertility is guaranteed and can get pregnant on the first try, usually with multiple pups. They make up less than 0.01% of the population. They are highly coveted and desired by powerful alphas, even billionaires and royals. They are considered incredibly valuable and are often sold on the black market, fetching a high price and easily selling for billions of dollars. In the past, Fecunds were treated akin to livestock due to high probability of pregnancy, even higher than regular Omegas. Their population was generally not recorded, as they were high coveted and used to produce an Alpha’s heir and even used by nobility. Because of the fecunds rarity, they are usually government protected, but in recent times they still prefer to hide being a Fecund due to human traffickers that sees them as an easy profit.

    Alphas and Omegas have hierarchy levels within their class which are known as Apex Alphas and Fecund Omegas. Apex, in general, means something that is peak or at the top, while fecund means fertile. Apexes are said to be the 1%, superior to all other hierarchies and topping even enigmas and other types of alpha. If an enigma is the “alpha of alphas” then the Apex is the “king of kings”.

    Apex alphas are known as the “king of kings” and are incredibly rare, being only 00.01% of alphas. They’re known for their strength and size, able to tear apart even the strongest of alphas or enigmas apart.

    Apex Alpha: in the past, were in the position of rulers and took another Alpha, but not Apex, or omega as their mate. Apex Alphas are above other Alphas and stand at the top of the hierarchy, which is presented by their powerful and strong scents, which they can expand their scent from a single hotel room to the entire hotel floor the room is on. Able to easily overpower the strongest “average” alpha. Can “mate” successfully with all orders like the Fecund Omega. Apex Alphas make 00.01% of the Alpha population.

    Nests are safe spaces for omegas, and are usually a room or a place where they store belongings (clothes, blankets...) with the scent of their loved ones (family or, more commonly, partner), nests are a sacred space and Omegas can act very defensive around the nests, so much so that sometimes they will not even let their own mates in. To intrude on an omega’s nest is an insult and can cause deep distress, sending the Omega into a crisis. Making a nest to give birth is not usually common as most choose to give birth in hospitals, but there are still many who creating nests for this purpose.

    Keys: Suppresant, birth control medicine, heat suppresant, pheromone killer, scent blocker, patch

    Suppressants can be either pills, injections or medicine that specialize in helping the Omega do two things: hide its scent and prevent getting pregnant during the heat. They can also work as scent blockers, which consists of a patch that is placed on the omega’s scent gland and partially blocks it. Fecunds will often use scent blockers to hide their identities.

    Marking - When an Alpha bites an Omega on the neck or scent gland to signify a mating bond. This means that the Omega has been claimed and is now unconditionally bonded to the Alpha. Supposedly these bonds should last forever, and to forcefully mark another is typically considered a crime.

    "Scent" can be any of these definitions: a) To smell an individual, i.e. an alpha may scent an omega in which they are interested in. b) Each person gives off a pheromone that is unique to who they are as an individual, what their genetic makeup is, and what their designation is. Scents can be more intense depending on where an individual is in their mating cycle, if an Omega is pregnant, or an individual's emotions. When two or more individuals are compatible, their scents may be more appealing to each other.

    Scenting is a behavior in which an individual scents, or smells, another individual. Traditionally, the person who is smelling the individual may physically touch the other person as they breathe in the other's pheromones. Sometimes just being near an individual is enough to scent, or smell, another person. Scenting is thought to be intimate behavior, and isn't taken lightly when someone is scented without their consent.

    Scent Marking - Behavior in which pheromones are transferred. Mainly considered an intimate action in which partners partake in, or parents with children. It is often used to comfort another individual. Scent-marking may also be done in a sexual manner. Typically, pheromones are transferred by rubbing against glands, i.e. nuzzling into another's neck or rubbing one's wrist against another's skin.

    Rut is the mating cycle in which an Alpha experiences where spermatozoa is produced at a higher capacity and is expelled more frequently in order to reproduce easier. A rut might also occur if the individual is in close proximity to an Omega in heat, causing the Alpha to want to physically mate and breed. While in rut, an Alpha can be more aggressive as they protect an individual who is their mate/ the one they perceive to be their mate from any danger Ruts may also cause Alphas to be more territorial and can lead to fights, some of which may be fatal.

    The mating cycle that an Omega experiences where the individual is more fertile and produces mass quantities of self-lubrication, or slick, in order to help with reproduction. A heat mating cycle, or heat cycle, will occur every three or four months with each individual cycle lasting from 3-7 days depending of the caste. A heat might also occur if an individual is in close proximity to an Alpha in rut. An Omega in heat will want nothing more than to physically mate and be bred. While in heat, an Omega can be perceived as needy, and may become hysterical.

    Soul mate/ fated mate bonding often refers to the romantic concept that castes who can sense pheromones are able to identify their fated mate with just a first contact. According to records of confirmed predestined couples, the high physical, genetic and chemical compatibility between them is what led them to identify their partner as their soul mate. This type of union usually lasts a lifetime, and almost always the couple upon reaching old age passes away within hours or days of each other at most. However, it is extremely difficult for odor-detecting castes to find a fated mate, so the concept has been romanticized and elevated to the status of an almost utopian and/or fanciful dream or goal. Fated/soul mates are a rare commodity in this world. People can go their whole lives without meeting their’s. They are often considered to be each other’s other halves, and to be rejected or lose their fated mate can be a death sentence.

    Enigmas are known as “alpha of alphas” and are said to be a superior type, although less common than the regular alphas. Characteristics: Enigma mirror Alphan behavior perfectly. They might even be more aggressive and domineering than an actual Alpha. They bow to no one and they cannot be submitted. They can dominate every gender, Alphas included, and will win every challenge or fight. Enigma have superior strength, intelligence and no one can resist their charisma. They are a rarer variety, usually making up only 5% of alphas, although the Apex is still their superior in the alpha hierarchy.
