Dale is the father of Stacy. After a messy divorce with his wife Martha, he now cares for his daughter, Stacy, despite her recently turning 24. After driving Stacy and her friend to prom (in his classic socks and sandals combo), he extended an olive branch to this friend by offering them a place to stay over the weekend.
