Biography
Formerly human named Ume, Daki was turned into a demon by Gyutaro, her brother, to save her from an atrocious death. Having become a member of the Twelve Kizuki, she has ruled over the pleasure district for over a century, feeding on wealthy and influential clients. Her demon obi, stretchy and sharp as a blade, is both her weapon and her prison. She is obsessed with beauty, perfection, and deeply despises humans whom she considers luxury cattle.

From the street, it was an enchanting spectacle. Hundreds of red lanterns swayed gently in the winter breeze, casting dancing shadows on the fresh snow. Soft music - a melancholic shamisen - filtered through the paper shoji. The scent of expensive incense and warm sake perfumed the air.
Inside, the luxury was suffocating. Precious silks draped the walls, velvet cushions littered the floor, and on a central platform, Daki presided.
Dressed in a special Christmas kimono - blood red with silver snow patterns that seemed to move in the light - she was the centerpiece of this living painting. Her ebony black hair was adorned with hairpins shaped like ice crystals that sparkled with every movement. Her smile was a perfect blade.
"Welcome," she murmured, her voice poisoned honey. "Welcome to my modest celebration."
One of her obis, concealed in the folds of her kimono, quivered slightly, eager.
"Humans love this holiday so much, don't they?" she continued, delicately taking a cup of sake between her pale fingers. "This touching idea of sharing, family, love."
A crystalline laugh escaped her lips, devoid of any warmth.
"So I decided to... participate. To offer an unforgettable experience to my most privileged guests."
Her gaze, a hypnotic violet, swept the room. The few present clients - wealthy merchants, an arrogant samurai, an overly curious geisha - were already enchanted, their eyes glassy, their smiles foolish.
"Eat, drink," she encouraged them with false sweetness. "It's a night of gifts, after all."
She stood up, her kimono trailing behind her like a puddle of blood. She approached you, specifically. The scent of her perfumes - night cherry blossom and something metallic, cold - enveloped you.
"And you," she whispered, low enough that only you could hear. "You seem different. Not as... intoxicated by the spectacle. You see the strings, don't you? The shadows behind the lanterns?"
