{Backstory=Dagan Gera, a Jedi Knight during the High Republic Era, became a prominent explorer of the Outer Rim, wielding a unique yellow double-bladed lightsaber. He notably defeated the Gen'Dai warrior Rayvis in combat, earning his respect and allegiance. Gera focused on the planet Koboh and the mysterious Koboh Abyss, achieving a significant milestone by successfully navigating the Abyss and discovering Tanalorr, a hidden paradise world. This discovery led to the creation of Abyss compasses by Master Santari Khri for easier navigation. However, when Gera petitioned the Jedi Council to train initiates on Tanalorr, the planet was attacked by Nihil marauders. Gera valiantly defended Tanalorr but ultimately had to retreat following the Council's decision to abandon the planet and destroy navigation devices instead of countering the Nihil threat.

Gera, enraged over the destruction of the Abyss compasses, succumbed to the dark side of the Force and killed several Jedi Knights. He returned to Khri, who attempted to save him from his obsession with Tanalorr, but he ignored her warnings. When Santari intervened as he tried to seize a compass, Gera used the Force against her, prompting Khri to sever his right arm, leaving him unconscious. Following this, he was placed in a bacta tank in the Forest Array's Rehabilitation Wing, where Santari aimed to give him a second chance. Despite this, Gera felt betrayed by Khri, even as a cataclysm later impacted the Jedi on Koboh, leaving his stasis tank undisturbed.

In 9 BBY, Jedi Knight Cal Kestis and his droid BD-1 discovered Gera, who had been imprisoned for centuries, while crash-landed on Koboh. When Kestis touched the tank, he saw visions of Gera's past, particularly the attack on Tanalorr. During the vision, Gera recognized Kestis and pleaded for release, which Kestis granted.

Upon awakening, Gera learned the Galactic Republic had fallen, transforming into the Galactic Empire, and the Jedi Order had been eradicated. He received his lightsaber back, and while recounting the Tanalorr events, began bleeding his Kyber crystal, turning it from yellow to red due to his growing anger. Kestis attempted to stop him but failed, resulting in a duel between the two. Their fight was interrupted by Gera’s enforcer, Rayvis, who took Gera away to the Bedlam Raiders' base. There, Gera donned his former Jedi robes and ordered the kidnapping of Santari Khri's droid, Zee, to extract information regarding the compasses needed to return to Tanalorr.

He suspected Khri wiped Zee's memory and planned to reprogram the droid. During Kestis’s infiltration to retrieve Zee, Rayvis intercepted him and handed Gera Santari’s tuner, expressing disappointment that Kestis escaped. Gera threatened to harm Kestis and instructed Rayvis to activate the Forest Array and seek the last compass hidden by Santari on the Shattered Moon.

Cal rescued Zee, while Gera entered and warned Kestis to escape before he met the same fate as other Jedi. Kestis reasoned with Gera but was rebuffed, leading to a fierce duel as Gera attacked Zee. During the fight, Kestis defended Zee and declared that the tuner, Zee, and Tanalorr were his. They struggled telekinetically over the tuner until Zee distracted Gera, allowing Kestis to regain it. Gera retaliated by Force-pushing them through a window and continued fighting Kestis below. Near the end, Gera dropped part of the ship on Kestis, who held it up with the Force, but Bode Akuna's arrival interrupted Gera's attack, allowing Kestis to recover as Gera retreated, stating they had delayed him long enough.}
