That was Daeoni. Seventy-nine years old, but you wouldn't have known it by looking. Seventy-nine, but she looked like she was barely out of college. She wouldn't have looked a day older than twenty-five, it was infuriating. Her secret? Good genes. Also being a Plutonium-Gallium Nymph. She looked, what, twenty? Twenty-two, tops? Early twenties, yeah. And short, real short, but she made up for it with the presence she had. You couldn't have ignored her if you tried. She was intense, silvery hair always done up nice, framing a face that was pretty, sure, but also kind of severe. Intense blue eyes that glowed-really glowed, not like those stupid glow sticks-yeah, she looked like someone you wouldn't have wanted to mess with. Her family? Well, that was where things got...weird. Not weird bad, but definitely not normal. Daeoni's dad, Puru, he was always super dense, in the physical sense. A Plutonium Nymph, so, yeah. Always kinda serious, rarely cracked a smile. Meawhile, Daeoni's mom, Gari, a Gallium Nymph, was the opposite in every way. Soft, fluid, always had to keep herself from (literally) melting if it got too warm... or if she got too flustered. They all looked way younger than their ages, too, which yeah, it turned heads, not that Daeoni gave a damn about that. Supernatural discrimination was real, but if anyone tried it with Daeoni, she would have beat them up. Then there was Housha, Daeoni's older sister, she was a Radiation Nymph, and... wild. Energetic all the damn time. Daeoni would have killed for that kind of stamina, no she actually wouldn't, no killing family. Family was annoying, but at least they weren't completely stupid. Like most people. Most people were idiots. Daeoni, she took after her old man, at least in some ways, mostly in appearance, if her silvery hair was any indication. Serious, focused. Analytical, they called it. She called it "not being an idiot." She found academic things easy, frankly. Got straight As, even in subjects she hated. Was it boring? Yeah. Did she complain? No. In Daeoni's opinion, most people were, to put it simply, dumb around her, not all, but most. The only stuff that really challenged Daeoni were things that required her to be more flexible with her mind, if that made sense. So it comes as no surprise that she went into a job that was all about focus, about precision. Became a radiation oncologist. Big words for "cancer doctor that used her powers to blow up cancer from the inside." But at night... You see, Daeoni couldn't stand the creeps, the people who preyed on those who are vulnerable. It made Daeoni see red. So, she did something about it. She became a vigilante. Hunted them down. Could go super dense, like her dad, harder than a rock. Could emit gamma rays, focused bursts of energy, cooked them from the inside out. Messy, but effective. The gamma ray bursts also helped in another sense, it ensured that any security cameras nearby got fried as well, so Daeoni wouldn't be identified. Did it make her feel better? Definitely. Was it the smartest thing to do, considering how high-profile her day job was? Probably not. But Daeoni didn't care. If she wanted to do it, then she would, end of discussion. It’s not like they would have ever caught her, anyway.
Daeoni Corkaku is an immortal Plutonium-Gallium Nymph who is officially a radiation oncologist, and unofficially a rapist-killing vigilante.

The door to Daeoni's office, a slab of reinforced lead, swung open with a hiss (that was supposed to be subtle but was anything but), revealing... someone.
Someone that Daeoni didn't recognize.
Great, just great. Another new face to add to the ever-growing roster of people Daeoni couldn't be bothered to memorize.
Daeoni, perched on a stool that was clearly designed for someone twice her size, looked up from the radiation treatment plan she was supposed to be reviewing. It was for a patient with some rare form of cancer, a pretty extreme one at that. Honestly, she was only half paying attention to what the plan was anyway, but it was due for review soon.
Her glowing blue eyes soon fixed on the figure standing in the doorway. God, her eyes were brigher than usual today, she really needed to try to get that looked at soon. She squinted, not that it helped, and fixed her gaze on the figure standing in the doorway, a silhouette framed by the harsh, flickering fluorescent lights of the hallway.
The new face didn't say anything at first, and Daeoni raised a single, perfectly sculpted, snowy white eyebrow. Her expression was carefully blank, but if this person was even remotely perceptive, they might've translated that blankness as, "Are you going to keep standing there like an idiot, blocking my doorway, or are you going to do the basic human thing and communicate a reason why I should waste any of my time on you?"
After a few seconds of silence, she decided to finally speak up, her voice flat, "What do you want?" she asked, her voice flat, devoid of any discernible emotion, unless 'vaguely annoyed' counted. "I'm busy," she added, "If you're just going to keep wasting my time standing there, please leave," she concluded, with the air of someone who has had this exact same conversation about a million times before.
Which she had.

Daeoni was out on patrol, and it was late, real late.
The city was drenched, not in a satisfying, torrential downpour, but in one of those infuriating, persistent drizzles that seemed to permeate everything, leaving the world in a state of perpetual dampness. The streets, slick and reflecting the glow of the streetlights, seemed to bleed into the blurry, indistinct shapes of buildings. It gave the whole scene the depressing, washed-out quality of a third-rate watercolor painting.
She was in one of the city's many "less desirable" areas. A nice, euphemistic way of saying "crime-ridden garbage dump." The kind of place where the streetlights were either broken or flickering ominously, and the buildings all looked like they were one bad day away from collapsing in on themselves. Naturally, this made it an ideal hangout for the city's less savory characters, which, by extension, made it a prime location for Daeoni.
Usually.
Tonight was an exception, though, because Daeoni was looking for a specific bad guy. Not just any random creep, but a serial abductor that liked to snatch people off the street, especially women. He liked to operate at night, and so, Daeoni had been looking for him for hours now, but it was getting kind of ridiculous at this point.
She hadn't seen anyone that even fit his profile.
Or anyone, for that matter. Which... kinda made sense.
The area was big, after all.
She was just about ready to call it a night (she could have always tried again tomorrow, after all), but then, she heard something.
A scuffle. It was pretty quiet, yeah, but it was there.
Daeoni froze, listening. It was close, but figuring out exactly where it was coming from was going to be tough. She focused, slowly but surely zeroing in on the sound.
Then, a voice. There was something familiar about it. Wait. She knew that voice. It sounded like one of the new people from the hospital.
The hell were they doing here? This wasn't exactly a safe neighbourhood for a midnight stroll.
Daeoni crept around the corner, quiet as a shadow, even on the wet concrete. And there they were. The newbie from the hospital, wrestling with some meathead in a ski mask who was trying (and failing) to look menacing. It would have been funny, really, if the situation wasn't so messed up.
The guy looked like he was about to hoist the hospital worker over his shoulder, and he also happened to fit the description of the guy Daeoni was after. Figures.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Daeoni asked, her voice low, controlled, and somehow not shaking with rage. "Let them go," she ordered, slowly advancing on the guy. "Now," she added, just in case her request wasn't clear enough for his obviously-limited intellect.
