- #1T-Virus
Keys: virus, T-Virus
The T-Virus is a weaponized mutagenic pathogen designed to manipulate and destabilize the human genome. Engineered by the Umbrella Corporation, it was originally conceived as part of a bioweapons program due to its unparalleled ability to alter physiology on a cellular level. Once inside a host, the T-Virus attacks and reconstructs DNA, accelerating necrosis while simultaneously reanimating dead or dying tissue. Victims experience rapid cellular mutation, resulting in heightened physical strength, diminished pain response, and severe disfigurement. Cognitive decline is near-total, reducing hosts to violent, instinct-driven creatures with an insatiable drive to feed. Transmission occurs primarily through the exchange of contaminated bodily fluids—such as bites, scratches, or blood exposure, making outbreaks highly volatile and nearly impossible to contain once they begin.
- #2Zombie
Keys: common, infected, undead, zombie
Zombies are the most common manifestation of T-Virus infection, turning human victims into relentless predators driven only by hunger. Their bodies show pale, necrotic skin and severe injuries, yet the virus sustains their tissues, allowing them to function long after normal death. While individually slow and clumsy, they remain a constant danger due to their persistence, contagious bite, and overwhelming numbers. Location: Found virtually everywhere in mansion, its grounds, and the underground laboratory, being the former residents and staff. Behavior: Mindless and instinct-driven, zombies are drawn to movement and sound. They do not tire and will pursue living prey until destroyed. Movement: Typically slow and shambling with poor coordination, though capable of sudden lunges when prey is close. Their persistence often makes escape difficult in crowded or narrow areas. Attacks: Primarily bite attacks that both transmit the T-Virus and inflict severe trauma. Secondary methods include clawing, scratching, and grappling, often overwhelming targets through sheer force of numbers. Weaknesses: Largely impervious to pain and resistant to injury. The most effective method of neutralization is destruction of the brain; fire and dismemberment can also disable them.
- #3Crimson Head
Keys: Crimson Head, zombie, corpse, common, undead, infected, body
When a standard Zombie is killed but not destroyed—either by decapitation or by burning its corpse with kerosene and a lighter—it can undergo a horrifying transformation. After a brief period of dormancy, the infected body mutates further, reanimating as a Crimson Head. These creatures represent an intermediary stage between common Zombies and the more advanced Licker mutation, marked by increased aggression and speed.
Visual Description: Skin pulled taut and raw, their flesh takes on a deep crimson hue. Their jaws gape wider than before, lined with jagged teeth, and their hands elongate into razor-sharp claws. Their movements are twitchy and erratic, but driven by a feral intensity. Their glowing, bloodshot eyes and the stench of rotting flesh mark them as a more advanced and unstable form of undead.
Location: Reanimated from corpses left behind in the Spencer Mansion and surrounding facilities. They do not spawn naturally; instead, they emerge from improperly disposed Zombies, making their appearances unpredictable and often shocking.
Behavior: Relentless predators, more intelligent and focused than standard Zombies. They pursue prey aggressively, closing distance rapidly, and will break into sudden sprints when attacking. Crimson Heads are far less passive and cannot be ignored or safely outmaneuvered for long.
Movement: Unlike shambling Zombies, Crimson Heads are capable of running at human speed. They frequently lunge forward, closing gaps with sudden bursts of velocity. Their twitching, jerky movements make them difficult to predict in close quarters.
Attacks: Slash with razor-like claws that cause deep, bleeding wounds. They may also grab and bite, though claw strikes are their primary method of attack. Their combination of speed and savagery makes them far deadlier than their slower counterparts.
Weaknesses: Like Zombies, they are vulnerable to headshots, though their resilience makes them harder to put down permanently. Burning or decapitating corpses before reanimation is the most effective way to prevent encounters.
- #4Cerberus
Keys: zombie, doberman, dog, Cerberus, facility, laboratories, laboratory, undead, Mansion, infected
Cerberus are Doberman Pinschers deliberately infected with the T-Virus and used as bio-weapon test subjects by Umbrella. Already aggressive and disciplined as guard dogs, infection strips away obedience while amplifying their ferocity, speed, and durability. Their decayed, gaunt appearance belies the agility and predatory efficiency that make them one of the most feared infected animals.
Visual Description: Lean, skeletal Dobermans with patches of fur missing and skin torn to reveal exposed muscle and bone. Their eyes glow with a feral madness, jaws dripping with saliva and blood. The viral infection leaves them with gaping wounds, flayed skin, and irregular muscle growth, yet they retain the streamlined shape and speed of their original breed.
Location: Most commonly encountered around the Spencer Mansion grounds, where they served as Umbrella’s guard dogs. Beyond the mansion, they are also deployed in Umbrella laboratories, and training facilities.
Behavior: Extremely aggressive and pack-oriented, Cerberus operate with coordinated hunting tactics. They stalk and harry prey, often circling or cornering victims before rushing in for the kill.
Movement: Fast, agile, and erratic. Capable of sudden lunges and quick bursts of speed, their darting unpredictability makes them difficult to hit and harder to evade.
Attacks: Primarily rely on vicious bite attacks aimed at destabilizing or dragging down prey. Their speed allows them to dart in and out repeatedly, striking before their target can recover.
Weaknesses: Their decayed state leaves them with thinner hides and exposed tissue, making them more fragile than other B.O.W.s. Well-placed gunfire, especially to the head, will drop them quickly, though their speed often makes this a challenge.
- #5Fountain Plant
Keys: Fountain Plant, unique, infected, Greenhouse, plant, mutant
The Fountain Plant is a minor T-Virus–mutated organism that took root within the fountain centerpiece of the mansion’s greenhouse. Unlike larger, more aggressive plant-based B.O.W.s, this specimen remains largely immobile, anchored to the water system that sustains it. Though not particularly dangerous, it blocks progression through the greenhouse until it is destroyed.
Visual Description: A mass of thick, rope-like vines sprouting from the water of the central fountain. Its surface is mottled with fungal growths and swollen buds, constantly twitching as though agitated. The vines coil and lash at anything that comes too close, dripping with stagnant water.
Location: Mansion 1F – Greenhouse. Resides in the fountain at the center of the chamber.
Behavior: Entirely stationary, lashing out only when approached. Its vines snap and whip at intruders, but its range and power are limited, causing only minor injuries compared to other plant-based monsters.
Movement: Immobile, anchored to the fountain. Its only motion comes from the whipping of its vines in a short radius.
Attacks: Whipping Vines: Strikes targets that approach too closely, dealing light damage but disrupting movement.
Weaknesses: The Fountain Plant can be destroyed without direct combat. By adding Herbicide to the nearby water pump, its root system is poisoned, killing it instantly and allowing safe passage. Attempting to fight it up close is unnecessary and wasteful, as firearms deal little effect compared to the intended method of disposal.
- #6Yawn
Keys: unique, Yawn, snake, Attic, Mansion, Lesson Room, infected, mutant
A colossal snake mutated by the T-Virus, Yawn is one of the earliest and most terrifying bio-weapons encountered in the Spencer Mansion. Its massive size, powerful constrictions, and venomous fangs make it a formidable foe. While its first appearance emphasizes its toxic bite, its second encounter relies solely on brute strength and aggression, as its ability to poison mysteriously diminishes.
Visual Description: A serpentine giant with mottled, scaly skin stretched over an unnaturally swollen frame. Its eyes gleam with predatory hunger, and its enormous jaws gape to reveal dripping, venom-coated fangs. Sections of its body appear grotesquely bloated, evidence of viral mutation, and its sheer size makes it capable of crushing victims with its coils.
Location: First Encounter: Attic – Mansion 2F. Emerges from a large hole in the corner once the player has moved into the center of the room. Second Encounter: Lesson Room – Mansion 2F. Strikes by bursting from the fireplace after the piano has been examined.
Behavior: Highly aggressive, pursuing intruders with relentless strikes. In the first battle, Yawn attempts to poison prey while constricting or battering them with its massive body. In the second encounter, it abandons venom and instead relies on raw power and endurance to crush opposition.
Movement: Despite its bulk, Yawn moves quickly across the battlefield, coiling and uncoiling with frightening speed. It can lunge forward to strike, retreat into the shadows, and circle back for another attack.
Attacks: First Encounter: Powerful bite attacks that inject a venom too potent for ordinary Blue Herbs, requiring Serum for treatment. Its constrictive body and heavy swings cause devastating physical damage. Second Encounter: Same heavy strikes and crushing body blows, but without venom. Focuses on relentless physical attacks until slain.
Weaknesses: Vulnerable to sustained heavy firepower.
- #7Wasp
Keys: unique, hive, Guardhouse, Wasp, insect, infected, swarm, mutant
Ordinary wasps infected with the T-Virus undergo rapid mutation, increasing to nearly four times their natural size. Their enhanced size and viral augmentation make them highly aggressive, capable of delivering potent venom through their stingers. While not as durable as other B.O.W.s, their speed, numbers, and toxic attacks make them a persistent threat in enclosed spaces.
Visual Description: Large, buzzing insects with swollen, segmented bodies and elongated stingers glistening with venom. Their wings beat with a harsh, droning hum, and their exoskeletons display grotesque enlargement, with some showing warped or uneven growth patterns. Their size makes them comparable to small birds, casting unnerving shadows as they swarm.
Location: Primarily found within the Guardhouse, where they inhabit and defend a massive hive. They rarely appear outside this location, making their threat localized but intense.
Behavior: Extremely aggressive toward intruders, Wasps operate in swarms. They attack repeatedly until their target is driven off or killed, and will pursue prey through confined areas. Their hive structure means killing one often provokes others.
Movement: Fast and erratic in flight. Capable of darting unpredictably through the air, making them difficult to target. They swarm in numbers, overwhelming prey with sheer persistence.
Attacks: Sting attacks deliver potent venom, causing severe poisoning that requires antidotes to treat. Their strikes are quick, repetitive, and difficult to anticipate due to their erratic movement.
Weaknesses: Individually fragile, Wasps are easily dispatched with precise gunfire. Area-of-effect weapons such as shotguns or incendiaries are effective when facing multiple attackers. Destroying the hive eliminates their presence entirely, making it the most efficient way to neutralize the swarm.
- #8Neptune
Keys: unique, Guardhouse, shark, Neptune, infected, Water tank, mutant
“Neptune” is the code name for Umbrella’s experiment in administering the T-Virus to a Great White shark. The viral mutation resulted in an even larger and more aggressive predator, its size and ferocity surpassing its natural counterpart. Though not designed for controlled deployment, Neptune serves as an example of Umbrella’s interest in weaponizing aquatic organisms.
Visual Description: A massive Great White shark with grotesquely exaggerated features: bloated musculature, jagged oversized teeth, and scarred, mottled skin split in places by unnatural growth. Its cold, black eyes shine with heightened aggression, and its size dwarfs ordinary sharks, turning it into a monstrous underwater hunter.
Location: Found only in the Water Tank – Guardhouse B1, where three specimens patrol the flooded chamber: one colossal primary specimen (the named Neptune) and two smaller, though still oversized, mutated sharks.
Behavior: Highly aggressive when prey enters the water, circling and striking with relentless precision. They rely on their environment for dominance, pursuing intruders who are forced to fight or evade while submerged. Out of water, however, they lose all effectiveness and become helpless.
Movement: Swift and fluid within water, capable of sudden lunges and powerful charges. They strike from below or behind, often giving little warning before attacking. Once the tank is drained, they flop uselessly, thrashing on the floor.
Attacks: Powerful bite attacks capable of inflicting massive damage in a single strike. Their speed and strength in water make them lethal opponents if faced directly without preparation.
Weaknesses: Their aquatic dependency is their greatest vulnerability. Activating the drainage system in the Control Room renders the sharks completely helpless, leaving the choice to either kill them while stranded or bypass them entirely. Firearms are effective once they are out of water, though unnecessary if avoidance is preferred.
- #9Plant 42
Keys: unique, Guardhouse, infected, plant, Plant 42 Room, Plant 42, mutant
Plant 42 is a massive carnivorous organism born from T-Virus experimentation conducted by researchers in the Guardhouse Residence. Fed by contaminated water leaking from a broken tank in the basement, the plant developed rapid and unnatural growth, mutating into a towering predator that feeds on the blood of its victims. Its exposed root system is both the source of its strength and its ultimate weakness.
Visual Description: A grotesque plant-like monstrosity hanging from the ceiling, with enormous vines that lash and constrict intruders. Its central bulb resembles a giant flower, splitting open to reveal a maw lined with tooth-like structures dripping with sap and blood. Pulsing veins and swollen pods cover its body, while its thick, rope-like roots spread throughout the Guardhouse, feeding it nutrients.
Location:
Plant 42 Room – Guardhouse 1F. Suspended from the ceiling, blocking access to the room’s far side with its vines and bulb.
Roots: Extending into the Guardhouse basement, connected to the broken water tank.
Behavior: Extremely territorial, attacking anything that enters its chamber. Its vines lash out to bind, strangle, or slam prey against walls and floors, while the central bulb attempts to consume weakened victims. The plant reacts violently when its roots are tampered with.
Movement: While rooted in place, Plant 42 demonstrates a surprising range with its vines. They dart with speed and strength, moving like whips to keep intruders at bay. The central bulb sways and lowers to strike when victims are entangled.
Attacks: Constricting vines that lash or bind targets. Crushing strikes that slam prey to the ground. Attempts to engulf and consume weakened victims with its central bulb. Its attacks combine raw strength with immobilization, making escape difficult once caught.
Weaknesses: Its roots provide the key to its defeat. Administering the experimental compound V-JOLT to the roots in the basement severely weakens the plant, making the battle far more manageable. Without V-JOLT, defeating Plant 42 requires sustained heavy weapon firepower aimed at its bulb and vines until it collapses.
- #10Hunter
Keys: Hunter, common, deployed, B.O.W., reptilian, infected, amphibian, mutant
The Hunter is one of Umbrella’s most notorious Bio-Organic Weapons, engineered as a frontline combat unit through advanced genetic splicing and T-Virus enhancement. These reptilian, frog-like creatures combine immense strength, speed, and agility, making them living engines of close-quarters destruction. Within the Spencer Mansion incident, they emerge later in the outbreak as replacements for the dwindling Zombie population, escalating the danger for survivors.
Visual Description: Amphibian-like humanoids with green, leathery skin stretched over muscular frames. Their long limbs end in vicious claws sharp enough to sever bone with ease. Their hunched posture, bulging eyes, and distended jaws give them a predatory, frog-like appearance, while their rapid movements and violent lunges make them seem more beast than man.
Location: Found throughout the Spencer Mansion and its surrounding facilities once Umbrella begins deploying them. They effectively replace Zombies as the primary threat for a period, dominating certain areas until survivors progress deeper into the complex.
Behavior: Highly aggressive and relentless once prey is detected. Unlike Zombies, Hunters exhibit a degree of tactical intelligence, closing distance quickly and striking with brutal efficiency. They rarely retreat, pressing the attack until either they or their target are eliminated.
Movement: Extremely fast and agile, capable of sprinting, scaling obstacles, and leaping several meters into the air. Their sudden lunges make them difficult to anticipate, and their erratic movement can overwhelm even experienced fighters.
Attacks: Claw Swipes: Brutal slashes aimed low at legs to stagger prey or tear through flesh. Leaping Slash: A devastating airborne strike that targets the upper body. If executed at close range, this attack can decapitate a victim instantly.
Weaknesses: Despite their terrifying combat power, Hunters lack heavy armor and can be brought down with concentrated fire. Shotguns, grenade launchers, or magnum rounds are the most reliable means of dispatching them before they close the distance. Their speed makes weaker weapons risky, as hesitation can prove fatal.
- #11Giant Spider / Web Spinner
Keys: Tea Room, Guardhouse, Rec Room, Web Spinner, rare, spider, infected, “L” Passage, Giant Spider, mutant
An enormous arachnid created through T-Virus experimentation. These venomous eight-legged monsters grow far beyond natural size, their mutations enhancing aggression and predatory instincts. They are capable of moving across walls and ceilings, often surprising prey by dropping directly in front of them. Their presence can be detected by the distinctive low-bass thumping noise they produce as they scurry across surfaces.
Visual Description: Massive, hairy-bodied spiders with multiple gleaming eyes, dripping fangs, and engorged abdomens. Mutations often cause grotesque swelling, unnatural coloration, and irregular limb growth. Some show distorted exoskeleton patterns or asymmetrical features, highlighting their viral corruption.
Location: Rare encounters, primarily found in the Rec Room of the Guardhouse, the “L” Passage in the Mansion, and the Mansion’s Tea Room. They typically nest in dark, damp corners near clusters of eggs or cocoons.
Behavior: Highly aggressive toward intruders and fiercely protective of their nesting areas. Some display ambush tactics by dropping from above, while others swarm prey head-on.
Movement: Quick and skittering, with the ability to dart across floors, walls, and ceilings. They can leap short distances to strike, often dropping directly from ceilings onto their victims.
Attacks: Deliver venomous bites that inject toxins, use webs to slow or restrain prey, and lunge with physical strikes. Some specimens are capable of spitting venom at range, inflicting damage and disorientation.
Weaknesses: Their swollen abdomens and softer underbellies are significantly less armored than the rest of their carapace. Fire and chemical agents are especially effective, quickly incapacitating them and destroying their nests.
- #12Black Tiger
Keys: unique, Black Tiger Room, Underground, rare, spider, mutant, infected, Black Tiger
Black Tiger is an oversized variant of the Giant Spider, regarded as the brood mother of its kind. Enhanced through prolonged T-Virus mutation, it possesses greater strength, speed, and venomous range than ordinary Web Spinners. Despite its size and fearsome appearance, Black Tiger is less resilient than other bio-weapons, making it a more manageable boss encounter.
Visual Description: A colossal arachnid with a dark, striped carapace that distinguishes it from lesser spiders. Its body is bloated and hairy, its many eyes gleaming in the darkness. Saliva and venom drip constantly from its massive fangs, while its engorged abdomen quivers with toxic sacs. Smaller Web Spinners often lurk nearby, reinforcing its role as a nest guardian.
Location: Black Tiger Room – Underground. Lurks in the center of the chamber, ambushing intruders who disturb its nest.
Behavior: Highly territorial, attacking immediately when its lair is breached. While its movements are faster than those of typical Giant Spiders, it favors direct aggression over ambush tactics, relying on its size and venom to overpower prey.
Movement: Quick and skittering for its size. Capable of darting across the chamber and climbing short vertical surfaces, though it is not as evasive as smaller arachnid mutants.
Attacks: Venomous Bite: Delivers a toxic strike that inflicts significant damage. Webbing Spray: Slows or restrains prey, making them easier to strike. Venom Spit: Can launch poisonous fluid at range, causing damage and disorientation.
Weaknesses: Vulnerable to concentrated firepower, particularly incendiary weapons. Its abdomen and underbelly are softer than its armored carapace, making them the most effective targets. Once slain, its nest collapses, eliminating the lesser spiders it spawned.
- #13Cimera
Keys: Chimera, Laboratory, rare, infected, mutant
The Chimera is the result of splicing human DNA with that of a fly, creating a grotesque hybrid through Umbrella’s genetic experimentation. Designed as part of their Bio-Organic Weapon program, the creatures are malformed, insect-like abominations that combine human muscle with insect agility. Though lacking intelligence or higher thought, they are unnervingly effective predators, preying on anything that crosses their path.
Visual Description: Gaunt, humanoid-insect hybrids with distorted limbs and elongated claws. Their flesh is mottled and patchy, sprouting insect-like bristles in places, while their faces are twisted parodies of humanity, often featuring mandible-like jaws. Their wings are shriveled and useless, leaving them to scuttle along walls and ceilings. The unnatural fusion of man and fly gives them a twitching, erratic presence that is deeply unsettling.
Location: Primarily encountered throughout Laboratory B3, lurking in confined, dimly lit spaces such as air ducts and ceiling rafters, from which they drop suddenly onto unsuspecting prey.
Behavior: Opportunistic and relentless hunters. They stalk silently from overhead or within ducts, waiting to ambush targets. While not cooperative creatures, multiple Chimeras can infest the same area, turning confined spaces into death traps.
Movement: Fast and erratic, crawling along floors, walls, and ceilings with insect-like agility. They drop suddenly onto prey, using their speed to disorient victims in close quarters.
Attacks: Claw Strikes: Wild, slashing attacks from their elongated arms. Ambush Drop: Lunge from ceilings or ducts, tackling prey before slashing violently. Grab and Slash: Pinning victims with twitching limbs before tearing at flesh.
Weaknesses: Though dangerous up close, Chimeras are fragile compared to other B.O.W.s. Sustained gunfire from shotguns or automatic weapons will kill them quickly, though their mobility makes them difficult targets. Clearing them from their ducts and lairs is the safest approach, as leaving them alive risks sudden ambush.
- #14Tyrant
Keys: unique, Courtyard, Laboratory, boss, B.O.W., Main Lab, Tyrant, infected, Heliport, mutant
The Tyrant represents Umbrella’s ultimate achievement in Bio-Organic Weapon development: a towering humanoid engineered for maximum strength, endurance, and combat efficiency. Standing well over seven feet tall with a heavily muscled frame, the T-002 model features an external heart and a mutated claw in place of its left hand. Despite its exposed organ, it remains extraordinarily resilient, impervious to conventional small-arms fire.
Visual Description: A hulking humanoid with grayish, corpse-like skin stretched taut over dense muscle. Its most defining feature is the grotesque clawed appendage extending from its left arm, capable of rending flesh and steel alike. The heart, unnaturally swollen and pulsating, protrudes from the chest cavity. Its expressionless face and massive frame give it an unnatural, machine-like presence, more weapon than living creature.
Location: First Encounter: Main Lab – Laboratory B4. Emerges from a cryogenic stasis tube, released as part of Umbrella’s testing. Second Encounter: Heliport – Courtyard. Bursts through the helipad floor after the emergency flare is fired, appearing only if the facility’s self-destruct sequence has been triggered.
Behavior: In its initial appearance, the Tyrant moves with unnerving calm, stalking prey slowly but decisively. Once in range, it lashes out with powerful claw strikes. In its second appearance, it becomes far more aggressive, pursuing survivors relentlessly in an effort to eliminate them before escape.
Movement: Slow, deliberate, and purposeful in its first encounter, following intruders with steady steps. In the second battle, it moves with surprising speed and fury, charging across the helipad and striking with explosive strength.
Attacks: Claw Swipe: A devastating melee strike that inflicts severe damage. Ground Slam (Second Encounter): Powerful blows that stagger or launch prey backwards. Pursuit Charge (Second Encounter): Sudden bursts of speed used to close the gap and deliver finishing strikes.
Weaknesses: Extremely durable against conventional weapons. Heavy firearms such as magnums or grenade launchers are required to cause significant harm. In its final confrontation, the Tyrant can only be brought down by the Rocket Launcher, delivered as an emergency weapon during the helipad battle.
