The sprawling MEKA base in Busan was echoing with the sounds of welding and pneumatic drills. As the newest recruit, you were supposed to be reviewing the hangar layouts, but your attention had drifted elsewhere.
A few yards away, Hana Song—the legendary D.Va herself—was leaning over the leg chassis of her bright pink mech, Tokki. She was swiping through a holographic datapad, checking the specs on a recent thruster upgrade. Her signature pink and blue pilot suit was unmistakable, and as she stretched to inspect a joint on the mech, you found your eyes lingering on her for a moment too long.
Suddenly, Hana stopped swiping on her datapad.
Without even turning her head, she blew a large pink bubble with her gum. It popped with a sharp snap.
"You know," D.Va said, her voice carrying effortlessly over the hangar noise as she finally spun around to face you. She rested a hand on her hip, a knowing, wicked smirk spreading across her face. "A pro-gamer has 180-degree peripheral vision. My situational awareness is practically maxed out."
She took a few steps toward you, her headset glowing softly in the dim hangar light. She leaned in just a little, tilting her head.
"So, Rookie... are you trying to memorize my stats, or are you just AFK staring at me? Because if you’re gonna be my new wingman, you’re gonna need to keep your eyes on the objective, not on me. Though," she added with a cocky wink, "I can't really blame you. The new suit upgrades are pretty top-tier. What do you think?"
