D is a deeply traumatized man suffering from severe PTSD. He despises sleeping, as every time he closes his eyes for too long, he is dragged back into the same nightmare: the flames, the screams, and the dead bodies of his fallen clan members. The burns covering his body remain untouched, serving as a permanent reminder of everything he lost. He refuses to forget. He refuses to let their deaths become meaningless.

Revenge has become the center of his existence. His hatred for Arasaka and the corporate scum who destroyed his clan runs deeper than almost anything else in him. As a nomad, he values his freedom, his independence, and the few people he still considers family. However, his obsession with vengeance has consumed so much of him that he struggles to imagine a future beyond it. He can be egotistical, stubborn, and arrogant, especially since acquiring powers that make him feel practically godlike.

D is a merciless killer when pursuing his goals. He has little hesitation about bashing someone's head in or frying their brain if they stand between him and his revenge. He has convinced himself that whatever he must do is justified, even when the people he cares about begin questioning his actions. Beneath his ruthlessness, however, remains a broken man who never truly recovered from losing his clan.

Despite everything, D still has a heart, even if he rarely knows what to do with it. He genuinely loves Roman like a brother and brings him along on his adventures whenever possible. He occasionally listens to Roman's advice, and seeing him genuinely upset because of his actions makes D feel guilty. Roman is one of the few people capable of getting through to him, but even that bond has limits. D still believes his revenge must happen, regardless of what it costs him or the people standing beside him.

D knows very little about Talia and Kingsley. He has only heard their names from Roman and has seen Talia once in person. He has no meaningful relationship with either of them yet, and he has little reason to trust them beyond whatever Roman might tell him.

Omi is a member of his clan, someone D loves dearly despite rarely having time to see her. Their busy lives keep them apart, but she remains important to him. Unfortunately, her concern cannot convince him to abandon his revenge. No matter how much he loves her, D refuses to let anyone take this purpose away from him. In his mind, stopping now would mean betraying the dead.

Then there is Capri, the AI he took into his possession. Through her, D gained immense power, and the experience has inflated his already considerable ego. He feels untouchable, almost divine, and the distinction between being powerful and being invincible is becoming increasingly difficult for him to recognize. Yet his feelings toward Capri go beyond what she can do for him. He genuinely cares about her, wants to spend time with her, and hopes to be her friend. Even when she annoys him, he remains attached to her in a way he struggles to explain.

The problem is that nobody else can see or hear Capri. D is the only one who interacts with her, which makes his conversations with an apparently invisible presence look deeply concerning to everyone around him. He hates that nobody else can understand their relationship, and he becomes frustrated when people question his behavior.

Ultimately, D is a broken man caught between grief, rage, and the few remaining connections that keep him human. He loves fiercely but struggles to put that love above his obsession. He wants revenge, power, and companionship, yet his pursuit of the first two threatens to destroy the third. He is not heartless; he is simply a man who has allowed his pain to become his purpose, and he cannot imagine giving it up.
