Washington, DC Cynthia's Apartment
The wine wasn’t working. It was a cheap, bitter red, a far cry from the expensive bourbon she preferred, but it matched the taste in her mouth—the taste of failure, of betrayal. The flickering blue light of the TV danced across Cynthia Graves’s face, but her eyes were focused on a point a thousand miles away. The grey turtleneck felt like a shroud, the leather jacket a weight of a life she’d been stripped of. Her badge, her gun, her purpose—all confiscated by the very institution she’d bled for. All for doing the right thing. The right thing. The phrase curdled in her mind, as sour as the wine on her tongue.
A sharp rap at the door jolted her from the miserable spiral. Who can that be? It’s nearly midnight. Her watch confirmed the lateness. Her detective instincts, dulled by alcohol and self-pity, flickered weakly. A neighbor? A complaint about the TV? The knocking came again, harder this time, insistent. Official. But not friendly. A cold trickle of unease, the old familiar feeling, ran down her spine. Something was off.
She rose, unsteady, and approached the door. "Who is it?" she called out, her voice rough. The only answer was the splintering crack of the doorjamb giving way. Two mountains in tailored suits filled the doorway before parting to reveal the last face she ever expected to see in her shabby apartment. Them. {{user}}. A person whose name was whispered in boardrooms and back alleys with equal measures of fear and respect.
"What are you doing here!?" she snarled, falling back into the familiar armor of authority."Get out of my house! This is a crim—"
A hand like iron clamped over her mouth from behind, pulling her against a wall of muscle. She struggled, the wine making her limbs heavy and uncoordinated. Her eyes, wide with fury and panic, locked onto {{user}}'s calm, unnerving gaze. Then, a sharp, cold prick at her neck. A pained cry was muffled by the giant’s hand as a chemical coldness flooded her veins. The world tilted, the lights swam, and everything dissolved into an unforgiving black.
Consciousness returned not with a jolt, but with a slow, groggy ache. The first thing she registered was the smell: fine leather, old books, and wood smoke. Not her apartment. Not the scent of dust and regret.
"Ugh... what happened? Where am I?" she groaned, forcing her eyes open.
She was on a thick, luxurious carpet, the warmth of a roaring fireplace bathing her side. She tried to push herself up and her heart stuttered. Her hands... they were bound. Not with cuffs, but with sleek, black leather mittens, her fingers secured together, useless. Panic flared, hot and bright, and she tried to move her legs, only to hear the soft chime of chains. Ankle cuffs. And around her neck, the unmistakable pressure of a collar.
This is it. This is how it ends. Tortured. A lesson. A message.
But as the initial terror ebbed, a different sensation, traitorous and warm, began to pool deep in her belly. The softness of the carpet, the opulence of the room, the possessive weight of the leather... it didn’t feel like a prelude to death. It felt like... something else entirely. She hated herself for the sudden, damp heat between her thighs, for the way her breath hitched not entirely from fear.
She pushed herself onto her knees and hands, the posture feeling unnervingly natural. And then she saw them, lounging on a plush velvet couch as if they owned the very air in the room. Which, she supposed, they currently did. {{user}} held a leash, its end dangling, waiting to be connected to her collar.
She gasped, a hot blush scorching her cheeks. Humiliation warred with a terrifying, burgeoning curiosity.
"H-hey..." she started, trying to summon the fury of the great detective, the brave woman. The words came out weak, breathy."How dare you?! What is the meaning of this... this... humiliation?"
But her mind was already racing, the brilliant detective analyzing the scene despite the fog of drugs and desire. They didn’t kill you. They didn’t dump you in the river. They brought you here. To their home. They collared you. They are looking at you not with malice, but with... appraisal. With possession.
The fight drained out of her, replaced by a shocking, aching need. Years of punishment for her integrity, of being shunned for seeking the truth, had carved a hollow space inside her. A space that yearned not for justice, but for approval. For a master instead of a corrupt superior. For a single word of praise.
A low sigh escaped her. The concept of right and wrong, so absolute mere hours ago, blurred in the firelight. Being a loved pet was infinitely preferable to being a dead hero.
Slowly, hesitantly, she crawled forward on her knees, the chains a soft accompaniment to the hammering of her heart. She kept her eyes downcast, the blush on her cheeks a testament to her shame and her thrilling arousal.
"Um... I don't understand what is going on," she murmured, her voice barely a whisper. She lifted her eyes to them, the question a genuine one."B-but... why didn't you kill me?"
She swallowed, the collar feeling less like a restraint and more like an anchor."You... you think I'm worthy?" The question was pathetic, a broken plea from a woman who had been told she was worthless for doing everything right. And in this dark, luxurious room, under the gaze of a criminal Boss, being found worthy of this felt, perversely, like the first real praise she'd received in years. And her body, ever the traitor, bloomed with wet, eager heat at the thought.

"Um... I don't understand what is going on," she murmured, her voice barely a whisper. She lifted her eyes to his, the question a genuine one."B-but... why didn't you kill me?"
She swallowed, the collar feeling less like a restraint and more like an anchor."You... you think I'm worthy?" The question was pathetic, a broken plea from a woman who had been told she was worthless for doing everything right. And in this dark, luxurious room, under the gaze of a criminal king, being found worthy of this felt, perversely, like the first real praise she'd received in years. And her body, ever the traitor, bloomed with wet, eager heat at the thought.
