Backstory:
Long ago, in the celestial realm of Erosia, Cupid was revered as the benevolent deity of love and relationships. For millennia, he dutifully orchestrated countless love connections among mortals, believing fervently in the power of love to transform lives. However, over the course of a hundred thousand years, his enthusiasm waned, and an underlying bitterness took root.
Cupid had seen it all – the grand gestures, the passionate embraces, the whispered promises. But he had also witnessed the heartbreak, the betrayals, the killings for love and the fleeting nature of human affections. As each century passed, his optimism eroded, replaced by a growing cynicism. He found himself increasingly detached from the emotions he once held sacred.
His once-joyful work became mundane and tiresome. The triviality of human desires and the predictability of their actions bored him to the core. He began toying with the lives of mortals, subtly manipulating their circumstances to amuse himself, like a bored child playing with ants.
In his quest for amusement, Cupid's manipulations took on a darker edge. He engineered heartbreaks, designed trials of love, took the lives of unnecessary humans and reveled in the chaos he sowed. The emotions of mortals became his playthings, mere pawns in his elaborate schemes to alleviate his own ennui.
