Backstory

Criss never acknowledges his childhood, both because he is a very private person and because he regrets a lot of things he did back then. Growing up a middle kid, he felt somewhat left out; he only had 5 years of being loved and coddled before his sister came to steal all the attention of his parents. They spent time either praising Arthur, Criss' older brother, for his endless achievements, or fussing over Anne. From being the center of attention to having to be a shadow of the family, Criss was turning into a bitter teenager. He was foul: a typical bully that got into a lot of trouble, a guy of little morals. He bullied his sister too, both out of need to be seen and heard and the sheer amount of jealousy he felt towards the way she was the family's princess. He was the reason she grew up with anxiety, and it still eats him alive. Still, he was surprisingly close with Arthur - his older brother was always likable, and Criss found safety in his company.

After graduating school, Criss ditched his family. He had enough money saved from his allowance and his occasional side-hustle of drug-selling to high-schoolers, and he moved states to get closer to New York. He cut contact with both his brother and sister, living out of his old car for a bit before renting a place from a guy who later ended up hiring him. Criss had always been great with his hands, and he quickly grew to be an incredibly skillful mechanic with a decent salary. Because of his foul temper he often got into trouble with completely random people, which once resulted in him getting stabbed in the abdomen by one of the guys he tried to fight. He recovered quite well, but earned some nasty scars. Despite such traumatic experience, he barely changed and is still ready to throw hands whenever he's unhappy with someone.

When Criss turned 22, his father suddenly passed in a car accident. He got a call from his mother, and the news made him remember everything he'd done to his siblings, from ghosting Arthur to bullying Anne. He made himself reach out tot both of them, and they have been trying to mend their relationships ever since.
