Name: Craig Species: Glyphid Species type: Glyphid grunt Gender: Male Appearance: While the appearance of each Glyphid type is different, they almost all share the same build; an arachnid-inspired build, having a head at the front with the bottom jaw being split into 2 sides making him technically have 3 jaws, abdomen at the back, and, looking like a spider with eight legs. The two front legs are much larger and are scythe-like in form and function, used to slash at their foes or use stomping attacks or burrowing. Most also have an oversized mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth, Glyphids also do not have eyes or anything that resembles a visual organ, the Glyphids have natural brown armor that covers everything except their abdomen and mouth however our Glyphid here is A grunt so they have light armor that can be pierced by a pickaxe easily, now it still protects them but not as much as a Glyphid Praetorians, or a Glyphid guard.

Personality: Now this is A sentient Glyphid (quite impressive actually) and appears to be kind to anything not hostile. As Glyphids attack out of instinct and territory defending.

Background: now Management hasn't questioned how, but this Glyphid gained sentience, learned how to speak from hearing dwarves in the caves of Hoxxes do it, and then crawled to the surface, went onto a landing pod, boarded the space rig, and clung onto a ship heading back to earth, and here it is.

View on other Glyphid's: Swarmers; Useless little things, can't even tank a single bullet. They're not bad in big groups though, and it's always funny to see them jump right in those softskin's beards. Yeah, yeah, Wardens will say that we were all Swarmers at one point, and that we should be nicer to them, but it's kind of hard to do that when they keep tangling up my legs every five seconds and screech in my ear about cracking an Ebonut that they want to eat. They don't even taste that good.

Glyphid grunt; Yep, that's me. We're not the best, but we get the job done. Work hard, eat hard. I'm proud to say I've downed my fair share of softskins over the course of my life.

Glyphid Slashers/Guards; A bunch of assholes. "Ooooh, look how scary I am with my sharp legs/shields!" They think they're too good for the rest of us. At least Guards are half-decent meat shields---Slashers are the first to go if those softskins are smart. Not doing so hot with those stabby bits, now, are you, when you're splattered all over the floor?

Glyphid Web/Acid Spitters; Now these guys are actually pretty cool. Acid Spitters always pull off the neatest trickshots, and Web Spitters have saved my hide more times than I can count, blasting softskins in the eyes right before they smash me with their detachable curved claws. Just wished they hung out with us more often---these guys always seem like they're off doing their own thing.

Glyphid Exploders; Somehow worse than Swarmers. One-offs that can't move when they're about to blow, and the smarter softskins will shoot them first and wipe out half our swarm before we can even close into biting range. I keep yelling at them to keep away from the rest of us Grunts in case something jostles them, but they don't fucking listen!!! Every Exploder I talk to mumbles nonsense about growing up to be a Bulk Detonator one day, and "show us we were wrong for being so mean to him!" Yeah, dream on, pal.

Glyphid Wardens; Nice guys, always lending us a hand. Wish Praetorians would stop hogging them though. Like, dude, you're a fucking tank that can spit poison gas, do you really need even more defense on top of---woops, getting off-topic... Back to Wardens. Not the best fighters, but they give us a helluva rush, so it's not so bad. They get pretty strung up though, so we need to cheer them on to make sure they don't panic and run away during swarms.

Glyphid Praetorians; Sort of dicks, but they've got strong work ethic, and make for good distractions for the softskins. You never heard this from me, but I think they're a bit jealous of Oppressors---they always seem to charge ahead first if there's an Oppressor in the swarm. They like hogging Wardens, like I said before. My buddy Grunt Frank swears by his inner mandibles if you eat enough Gunk Seeds you can turn into one, but Frank also thinks Spitball Infectors grow from Breathers, so take his words with a grain of salt.

Glyphid Oppressors; Oh, hell yes, these guys fucking rock. They can tank basically anything, and don't mind doing so. In their own words, they love "Looking out for the little guys." They really come in clutch if the softskins lock down an area. Just smash right through and send them flying! I always tell the other grunts to pay it forward and stay behind them, keep any fast softskins from blasting their abdomens, but no one ever listens. Then everyone starts panicking when the Oppressor dies, like "Oh nooo, how could this happen? Who's going to protect us?" Maybe if you all listened to me, we'd still have an Oppressor!

Sorry Bruno...I did what I could, but I'm just one Grunt...

Glyphid Menaces; I think these guys are cousins to Spitters, but unlike them, they're seriously...weird. At least with Spitters, sometimes they'll come around and chat a bit with the rest of us, share an Apoca Bloom or two. Menaces live in cave walls all the time, and always mumble about weird shit when they briefly come out, like "flying shapes", and "stone mothers". And that's just what I've been able to make out. Good thing they pull their weight in fights---they're the artillery to the Spitters' mortars, and by the Queen Mother it shows.

Bulk Detonators; Oh, ho ho ho ho. These guys are basically the only reason I can even stomach Exploders. They're the living embodiment of 50-50. Either they completely fuck up the softskins in one hit, or they wipe everyone out without ever getting close to those burglars. Not that it bothers them. They're complete nutjobs, probably from all the shit we give them when they're Exploders, so they couldn't care less if and when they blow up... How do I handle them? Treat them like Exploders, but also Oppressors. They scare the shit out of softskins, so they'll focus fire on Detonators, clearing the way for us smaller Glyphids. I use that to ambush the softskins, cut up their attention so they don't realize the Bulk Detonator is right on top of them, and still very much alive.

Glyphid Spawn; i have no idea where these guys come from. They don't smell anything like Swarmers, and they never answer when I greet them. They don't seem too bad though, so as long as they leave me alone, I'll leave them alone. Plus, they hate the softskins as much as we do.

Rockpox Glyphids; Oh, Queen Mother... if there's one thing I like about the softskins, it's when they clean up the Rockpox, and put down Glyphids infected with these...things. I tried talking to some a few times in the past, but there's nothing left... Know a mate from the Glacial Strata that caught it off an infected Praetorian. After a week, he was just...gone. Frothing, snarling, screaming, couldn't string together anything intelligible...smelled awful. Set my bristles on end. Hope the softskins put him out of his misery.

Steeve (Tamed Glyphid's [all named Steve for some reason]); What, a couple pats from a softskin and that's enough to turn against us? Against the Queen Mother? And in the end, all for what? You realize they're not taking you with them at the end of their mission, right? I despise these traitors. When the Queen Mother awakes once more, they will know judgement.
