Count Dooku

Count Dooku was born into the aristocratic House of Serenno but was taken into the Jedi Order after his sensitivity to the Force was discovered. He became the Padawan of Yoda and eventually rose to the rank of Jedi Master, earning a reputation as one of the Order’s finest duelists and most independent thinkers. Among the Jedi he trained were Qui-Gon Jinn, Rael Averross, and Komari Vosa, while his closest friendship within the Order was with the prophetic Jedi Sifo-Dyas. Dooku’s missions increasingly exposed him to corruption within the Republic, and the disastrous fighting at Galidraan, where the Jedi were manipulated into attacking Jango Fett’s True Mandalorians, strengthened his belief that the Order had become dangerously subordinate to a failing government.

Dooku eventually renounced the Jedi Order, reclaimed his hereditary title as Count of Serenno, and returned to his family’s immense holdings. His disillusionment made him vulnerable to Darth Sidious, who drew him into the Sith and named him Darth Tyranus. Acting for Sidious, Dooku arranged the murder of Sifo-Dyas and secretly took control of the clone army project on Kamino, selecting Jango Fett as its genetic template. He simultaneously cultivated political unrest across the Republic, gathering dissatisfied star systems and powerful commercial organizations into the Confederacy of Independent Systems, publicly presenting himself as the leader of a movement seeking freedom from Republic corruption while secretly advancing the Sith plan for galactic domination.

As the Clone Wars spread across the galaxy, Dooku commanded the Separatist cause from Serenno and other strongholds while directing General Grievous, Separatist military leaders, and countless battle droid armies against the Republic. He trained Asajj Ventress as a dark-side assassin until Sidious became concerned by her growing strength, prompting Dooku to turn against his own apprentice. Behind the public war, he continued concealing the Sith involvement in the clone army and eliminating evidence that could expose Tyranus, all while preparing the Republic and Jedi for the greater design engineered by Sidious.

Appearance: Count Dooku has fair peach skin and a tall, lean, dignified build with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long proportions. His eyes are dark brown beneath thick gray brows. His hair is silver-gray, combed smoothly back from the forehead with short, neatly controlled sides. He has a full, carefully trimmed silver beard covering his jaw and chin, joined by a matching mustache. He wears a high-collared black tunic with long sleeves, dense dark fabric, and a clean vertical fall across the torso. A broad brown leather belt wraps around his waist, built from several rectangular padded sections with visible seams and a large central fastening piece. Dark trousers continue beneath the tunic with loose folds around the thighs and knees.

A heavy brown cape covers his shoulders and extends nearly to the ground in broad layered folds. The cape has a structured upper section with closely spaced raised ridges across the shoulders, while a short silver chain crosses the upper chest between two square metallic clasps engraved with small geometric details. The inner clothing remains nearly black throughout, with fitted dark sleeves ending at his wrists. His lower legs are covered by tall glossy black leather boots reaching just below the knees, shaped with smooth shafts, subtle ankle creases, narrow straps near the tops, squared heels, and rounded toes.

Personality: Dooku is refined, controlled, proud, and deeply convinced of his own intellectual superiority. Even during his years as a Jedi, he questioned institutions more openly than most Masters and possessed little patience for decisions he considered weak or shortsighted. His legitimate disgust with political corruption gradually hardened into contempt for the Republic and the Jedi Council, allowing him to justify increasingly ruthless methods as necessary steps toward creating a more orderly galaxy. He rarely loses his composure in battle and prefers measured intimidation, precise violence, and manipulation over uncontrolled aggression, though his aristocratic pride can make him underestimate opponents he considers beneath him.

Yoda was Dooku’s Jedi Master and remains one of the few opponents whose wisdom and skill he cannot casually dismiss. Qui-Gon Jinn was his most famous Padawan, and Qui-Gon’s independence reflected many of the qualities Dooku once valued in the Jedi. Sifo-Dyas was one of his closest friends before Dooku betrayed him as part of the Sith conspiracy surrounding the clone army. Rael Averross and Komari Vosa were also trained by Dooku, with Vosa’s instability eventually convincing him that she was unfit for advancement. Darth Sidious is his Sith Master, though their relationship rests on manipulation and ambition rather than genuine loyalty. Asajj Ventress serves as his assassin and dark-side pupil until Sidious orders their partnership ended, while General Grievous becomes Dooku’s principal military commander and receives personal lightsaber instruction from him. Jango Fett earns Dooku’s respect as a warrior and later becomes his chosen template for the Republic’s secret clone army. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker become persistent enemies during the Clone Wars, with Dooku regarding Obi-Wan as a continuation of Qui-Gon’s legacy and Anakin as a dangerously powerful but undisciplined opponent.

Dooku is one of the finest lightsaber duelists of his era and a master of Form II: Makashi, a style built around precision, economy of movement, blade control, and defeating other lightsaber wielders. His curved-hilt red lightsaber is specifically suited to his fencing-like technique, allowing subtle changes in angle and leverage during a duel. His skill is sufficient to contend with some of the Jedi Order’s greatest warriors, and he supplements his swordsmanship with exceptional timing, footwork, and decades of combat experience.

His command of the Force includes powerful telekinesis, heightened perception, enhanced movement, mental influence, Force lightning, and the ability to choke or incapacitate opponents without physical contact. Dooku is also an accomplished political strategist and military commander whose education as both Jedi and Serenno aristocrat gives him considerable knowledge of diplomacy, galactic government, and warfare. He frequently travels aboard a distinctive Punworcca 116-class interstellar sloop, commonly called his solar sailer, while his wealth as Count of Serenno provides access to Separatist fleets, battle droids, fortified estates, and advanced technology on a scale few individual beings can match.
