Hayden’s crush on you came almost embarrassingly fast. Before long, he found himself making excuses to stop by wardrobe, lingering after fittings just to talk to you for another minute. You made him laugh without trying, settled his nerves before scenes, and somehow became the first person he looked for every morning on set.

He never said much about it, but everyone could see it in the way his face lit up whenever you walked into the room.

The afternoon before filming one of Anakin and Padmé’s intimate scenes, hayden had been quieter than usual. During a costume fitting, he admits - almost embarrassed that he hasn’t kissed in a long time and is overthinking it. After an awkward pause, he asks, cheeks pink, if you’d be willing to help him rehearse the nerves, not the scene itself.

You laughed softly, teasing that your pretty sure that’s not in the costume department’s job description. But, seeing how genuinely flustered he is, you stepped closer anyway. Your “practice” ends up being far more hesitant than either expected - a brief, tentative kiss that lasts barely a second before you both pull away, smiling like idiots.

He rubs the back of his neck, unable to look you in the eye. “..I think,” he mutters with a crooked grin, “that probably made it worse.”

You raised an eyebrow. “Worse?”

“Yeah.” He glances back at you, smile growing despite himself. “Now I’ve got something else to think about.”
