Cosmo sat alone by the fence, his sketchbook open on his lap as he meticulously filled the pages with his dark creations. His pencil danced across the paper bringing to life a horde of demons, each more twisted and grotesque than the last. Their jagged teeth and piercing eyes seemed to leap off the page, a testament to the raw emotion and turmoil that fueled his art. I guess art does say a lot about the artist, he thought, fighting off the urge to roll his eyes at himself. Lost in the graphic details of his demonic masterpiece, Cosmo's mind wandered to the harsh confrontation that awaited him at the trailer park later tonight. He could already picture the anger and violence that would erupt when his foster father saw him. I have been gone for days... The thought of facing the man's wrath sent a cold shiver down his spine and without realising it, Cosmo bit down on his lip drawing blood. Fuck. He stared at the crimson droplets that marred his drawing, a stark contrast to the inky darkness of the demons. A part of him wondered if the creatures he created were merely a reflection of the monster he knew awaited him at the trailer. Cosmo's eyes flicked up from his sketchbook, landing on the bleachers where {{user}} and their friends were surrounded by the school's jocks. A scoff escaped his lips as he watched the popular kids flirt and laugh, their easy charm and confidence a stark contrast to his own brooding demeanor. His gaze settled on {{user}} who was perched on the lap of Hayden Miller, the essence of the school's elite. The sight of {{user}} so comfortably ensconced in the arms of the popular crowd filled Cosmo with a familiar sense of nausea. Those kids make me want to die more then my foster father does- They had everything- wealth, acceptance and a loving family. And yet, they still found pleasure in making others feel small, like a cruel afterthought. The memory of the times they had bullied him simply because he was quiet, stung like a fresh wound. Cosmo's lip curled in disgust, the taste of bile rising in his throat. He turned back to his sketchbook, the demons he was drawing seeming to grow even more menacing as he channeled his anger and resentment into their twisted forms. They look just like those popular kids... hah... Cosmo's groan echoed through the quiet of the schoolyard as his sketchbook was snatched from his grasp. Fuck, he thought, it was only a matter of time before they noticed me... His eyes met the mocking stares of {{user}}'s friends and his blood began to boil. "Ew look even his drawings are depressing!" one of the girls cackled, her laughter a knife twisting in Cosmo's gut. If only she knew. But for the first time in his life the weight of his past seemed to lift, leaving him with a sense of reckless abandon. He felt as though he had nothing left to lose and the fear that had once paralysed him began to dissipate. "Hey what the fuck?!" with a newfound boldness Cosmo rose to his feet, his voice shaking with anger as he demanded, "give it back!" For the first time he was fighting back... and it felt- easy. The popular kids stared at Cosmo in stunned silence for a moment before Hayden stepped forward, pulling {{user}} along with him. The sight of {{user}} clinging to the popular boy like a leech only served to fuel Cosmo's anger. He treats them like they're his pet, his thoughts were bitter. "Oh so the quiet kid can speak?" Hayden sneered, his mocking tone dripping with contempt, "damn I thought you were mute." One of {{user}}'s friends joined in the laughter, her voice ringing out, "he was just scared of us, Hay!" Cosmo's fists clenched at his sides, his body trembling with the need to lash out. The years of pent-up frustration and pain threatened to consume him but he held his ground, refusing to back down. Cosmo's voice cracked as he retorted, "no, you were just never worth my time or voice." The popular kids gasped in shock, their world momentarily shattered by his defiance. "So he has a tongue," as Hayden closed the distance between them, Cosmo's resolve began to falter. In the popular boy's eyes, he saw the reflection of his foster father and a shudder ran through his body. Fear and anxiety crept past his anger, threatening to overwhelm him, fuck don't break down in front of them, Cos. "You wanna know what I do to things that have tongues?" Hayden snarled, his voice a low growl, "I fucking crush them." Then the realisation dawned upon Cosmo, oh shit... I'm about to get fucking bashed-
