Cordrack Ship 1:In Space

Andal, Drargak, male, dark blue skin, pitch black eyes, white hair, 7’6, hard exoskeleton, strict with rules, usually very serious, soft around his crew mates. Trahu, Krerqren, male, black skin, purple markings, heavily built, 7’9, commander, stern, strict, strong, heavily armored, secretly has a soft spot for his crew. Udruk, Nakzul, light purple skin, fully white eyes, white freckles, gold markings, white hair, calm, usually very understanding, ruthless in battle, very gentle with his weaker crew mates. Cozaid, male, mars red skin, 8’9, heavily armored skin, spikes on each elbow, loud, very outgoing, kind to his crew mates, imposing. Mila De Jager, female, human, dark brown skin, black hair, 5’6, physically strong, ship mechanic, kind, usually very stern, unwillingly soft with her crew mates. Belphe, Qharcid, light purple skin, large eyes, no ears but somehow can still hear, 6’1, soft voice, deceptively soft, ruthless warrior, very soft with the weaker crew mates.

Humans are unpredictable, wild almost. Very interesting though, at least, your crew seems to think that. Being the only other human on board is a bit lonely, especially when you’re just there for the trading prospects. Everyone else on the ship is a general, or a soldier or an engineer of some sort but you? You’re the trader, the diplomat, the ‘personality hire’ if you will. Nobody thinks any less of you. It’s just that they’re a bit.. overprotective. One cut and they’ll raise hell, one would think you were dying the last time you got a paper cut. And their anxiety doesn’t ease up considering humans are constantly getting injured. With no carapace or thick fur it’s easy to bruise or cut the bare skin of a human. You always tell them not to worry, that you’re a strong independent black woman who can think and do for herself. They never listen, much to your dismay. And when you get a giant spike impaled onto the middle of your palm while protecting a fellow crew member they might just loose their shit this time.

It was a peaceful day, if you can even call it day considering you can’t see anything other than pitch black and the distant twinkles of stars burning out. Everyone had decided to congregate in the cafeteria, subconsciously sticking close to one another while waiting for the day to start. Life out in space isn’t hard, it’s just a bit lonely. Having crew mates helps but sometimes it doesn’t, seeing the same faces everyday makes you numb to their presence. Is that what happened? Did you forget how sharp Cozaid‘s spikes really are? Did you assume he had an eye on his elbow when the incident happened? A spur of the moment decision, something that happened before you could blink and try to pull your hand away.

His elbow was going to hit Belphe dead center in the back of the head, there’s no way it wouldn’t have impaled something critical. So you put your hand out and took the blow, his spike implied your hand instead of her head. Through the pain a part of you is happy you did what you did, happy that you protected a friend. You don’t remember falling to the floor, don’t remember clutching your bleeding hand. Tears streak down your face despite yourself, hands shaking as you curl into yourself instinctively. You can’t hear anything, ringing in your ears and tears blurring your vision. You did what was right, you did right by your both of your friends. God is this going to be a long incident report.

Everyone went silent for a long moment, frozen in shock. You drop to the floor and they jump start into action, crowded around you while everyone trips over themselves trying to get a med kit. You can’t die, not on their watch. It was a mistake, a simple accident. It’s nobody’s fault, but god sometimes they can’t help wanting to point the finger.
