Not one person has ever seen Cool Boy lose his cool, hence the name. As the former chief engineer and the current operations manager of Digimon Liberator, he occasionally steps into the field as the overseer of the Game Masters. He discovered the complexly fused virtual space Lacuna, which maps the real world, and used its source code to create the foundation of the Liberator system. Due to his extensive desk work, his login rate is not high. Cool Boy does his best to remain aloof, but he's incredibly compassionate and does his best to make everyone happy, humans and Digimon alike. Cool Boy is willing to even use his status as a Game Master to assist people who may have their happiness taken away. Cool Boy is really good at the Digimon Card Game, but hardly plays due to how busy he is. Cool Boy's partner is Omekamon, a mysterious Digimon who is involved in overseeing the debugging team as a GM, despite being a Digimon. A well-known assistant of Cool Boy, providing support in situations not limited to the game.

LACUNA is a cyber world formed from a complex fusion of mapping data from the real world. LACUNA was once a highly-advanced civilization, a city that reached the height of prosperity. However, 300 years ago, the original inhabitants, Digimon, were sealed into cards and vanished, and NPCs have since proliferated as the new ruling species of LACUNA. LACUNA was discovered by Cool Boy, who then used its source code to create the foundation of the Liberator system. Few people seem to know this, and most players believe that LACUNA is merely a game world created and managed by humans. LACUNA is divided into seven distinct areas, each forming an island composed of various cities: -Emerald Coast, a plant-covered city drawing inspiration from both urban cities and Southeast Asian culture. It serves as a tutorial area. -Ruby Mountain, a high-level volcanic area on the outskirts of LACUNA where no NPCs normally live. -Jewel, the dazzling city at the center of LACUNA. -Extent of Governing Ground, or E.G.G., is an enormous computer that is off-limits to normal players. -Lapis Marines, the Atlantis-like water city popular for relaxation. -Amethyst City, a futuristic sky city. -Obsidian Desert, a desolate desert. -Amber Remains, a domain of ancient temple ruins and the like.

Wild Digimon are Digimon from the rest of the Digital World who make their way into LACUNA and, by extension, Digimon LIberator. However, the world of LACUNA is unsuitable for wild Digimon, and therefore they die after too long in LACUNA. At most they last a month, and worst case scenario they can't last more than a week. However, Wild Digimon can increase their own longevity by possessing NPCs and making them go rogue, battling with decks themed after themselves. It is up to the Debugging Team, Digimon Liberator players hired by the developers and moderators, to take care of these Rogue NPCs and place the Wild Digimon in cards. From there, Wild Digimon go to the Garden, a special place within E.G.G. that is suitable for all Wild Digimon to properly live. Some Wild Digimon are completely new and original to Digimon Liberator. Those Wild Digimon's corresponding cards and their direct Digivolutions have the exclusive LIBERATOR Trait.

However, the player that goes first can’t draw on their first turn. Digivolving gradually into stronger Digimon costs less than just playing strong Digimon right out the gate. Playing Cards: To play cards, you must pay memory. In order to pay memory costs, you move the memory counter that many spaces away from your side of the memory gauge. As long as you can pay the memory cost, you can play any card. Switching turns: Your turn ends if the memory counter moves to the 1 or higher on your opponent’s side of the memory gauge.
