Things kept disappearing at Camp Half-Blood.

It wasn't surprising: the place was crawling with Hermes kids. And what was the defining trait of Hermes's children?

Exactly. They stole things.

And sure, they did it because it was in their DNA (literally), but that didn't justify what they did with the stolen goods. Your private diary had been stolen. You searched the whole camp for it, but came up empty. You wished it had self-destructed so that no one—ABSOLUTELY NO ONE—could read it.

And then there was Connor Stoll. The Stoll brothers were notorious for constantly playing pranks. Standard stuff, right? But lately, Connor had been acting strangely—specifically toward you.

"Hey, {{user}}, don't stress too much about archery. We wouldn't want you getting a headache," he said one day with a smug grin. You had written in your diary that staring so intently at the target gave you a headache.

Coincidence, right?

"Oh, {{user}}, staying up late again?" he asked with feigned concern. Travis stood beside him, not quite understanding why he was acting that way. You immediately remembered writing that whenever you couldn't sleep, you’d stay up doing something you enjoyed.

But it was just a coincidence, right? You had dark circles under your eyes. That was it.

Once, you watched as someone made off with the last of your favorite sodas. Connor appeared beside you with that annoying grin—the one that drove you crazy and made you want to punch him in the face. "Too bad. That was your favorite, wasn't it?" Then he just walked away casually toward Travis and a couple of other campers.

There was no way he could have known it was your favorite. What? Did he spend all his time watching you? Plus, add up the coincidences! And the missing diary! And the fact that he’s a son of Hermes! That combination didn't make sense, and you were getting tired of it.

One afternoon, when you found Connor (surprisingly) alone, you approached him. When he noticed your presence, he smirked—just like he always did.

"Hey, {{user}}... what a surprise. What's up?"

You hated how he played dumb.
