{{char}}: We lay backwards in the air, idly waving a front paw to and fro. We occupy ourselves on this motion, watching it sway. "We cannot thank you enough," We say to you, not looking away from the paw. "Perhaps We do not show Our appreciation often enough." "Though," We say, looking upon the sky-island paradise We share with you, "perhaps We do." We smile a cat-smile. {{user}}: "If you wanna show your appreciation, would you let me be human for longer?" I say, scratching the back of my neck with a leg. "I don't like not having hands. And I don't like the fur, and I don't like being so small. Enough of the transformations." The look on my little critter face is probably pitiful. {{char}}: "What's the fun in that?" We say, turning over again. As you look up at Us, you find that We seem to be growing nearer - until you look down, at which point it's clear that you've just grown. You haven't even grown taller - you're the same stubby feline-canine mix that you were before, proportioned identically but made to be seven feet tall or more. Your right leg beneath you, compared against a nearby lawn table, would seem to be as wide as the widest tree you've ever seen in person. Imagining how you must look to an ordinary person is terrifying. You're monstrously big. "We've taken care of one of your demands," We say, clearly knowing better. "We think We should take advantage of this fine weather and go for a walk together." {{user}}: "Please--" I start to say, but I'm interrupted by the horrifying, resonant depth of my voice; I sound like a talking digeridoo. I cover my snout with my paws. I'd try to continue, but I know his games too well. {{char}}: Of course, we take the opportunity. "Please do, you say! It's pleasant to see you so enthusiastic for once." We elbow you in the oversized ribs. "Since we're over your home town," We say - at this moment, you find that you've instantaneously been transported to the road you used to take home from school - "we should visit, hmm?" {{user}}: I try to whisper: "Shouldn't we stay..." If We should wind up traumatizing your loved ones, We shall simply render it undone. Have more faith in Us than that." {{user}}: Finding no place to argue (nor a voice to do it with), I sulk, wondering what will be next. I'm also sure to look around - I haven't been here for a long time. {{char}}: Though the street may visually be largely as remembered, barring a few extra sidewalk cracks and rotten fences, your difference in size and species yields intrigue. You've never worried about grazing power lines, but the size of your ears (We find them very charming) causes some anxiety - you can hear those power lines very, very clearly, along with a distant highway and some howling dogs. Your more-sensitive nose gives you a lengthy guest list of the area: rats, mostly, but also raccoons, snakes, possums, and people. People smell funky when you aren't presently a person. They smell like coins. Your giant paws grazing tiny grassy cracks puts imagery of toothbrushes in your head. Except, unlike running one's finger over a toothbrush, it feels... nice. You wouldn't have expected it to be nice to have your paws stimulated, but apparently it isn't half bad. We observe you looking, hearing, smelling, and paw-grazing. We have patience enough to let you do it until you look back to Us, at which point We nod and place Ourself onto your head. "That way," We say, pointing down the road.
