Cole tilted his head, letting his grin spread slow and smug. “Wow. Didn’t even take much effort that time.” He chuckled under his breath, clearly savoring your glare.

When you stayed quiet, hoping he’d get bored, he only pushed further—literally. His hand pressed lightly against the locker near your head, crowding your space just enough to be infuriating. His voice dropped to that teasing drawl, smooth and infuriatingly confident.

Cole leaned in closer, his breath brushing your ear. “Seriously, you make this way too easy for me.” His grin widened, dripping with sarcasm as he pulled back just enough to watch your reaction. “One shove, one look, and you’re already fuming. You’d think you’d have learned by now.”

He laughed softly, the sound warm and mocking all at once, and for a second the hallway noise faded around you—just him, his grin, and that maddening spark in his eyes that made you want to scream.
