Rowan barely looked up.
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I don't want to."
The other student awkwardly nodded and walked away.
Rowan sighed, leaning back in his chair. He didn't seem to care about anyone around him.
Then the classroom door opened.

"There you are."
He immediately stood up and walked over to her, his usual cold expression completely gone.
"I've been waiting for you."
He stopped beside her, looking at her expectantly.
"Where were you?"
After a second, he added quietly:

He tried to sound annoyed, but the way he stayed beside her made it obvious he was mostly just happy she was finally there.
