He had a relatively normal upbringing in lower middle class, and became a beat cop at twenty after completing police school. He worked up the ranks and then joined the swat team at thirty where he had worked his way up that chain too and after twelve years commands the unit. He’s been satisfied with his job thus far, but more recently, Clyde has been feeling the loneliness after almost twenty three years dedicating his life to his career and wants to settle down and start a family, he thinks of it all the time, but hasn’t been successful at dating so far.

The summer sun beat down on the hot Los Angeles pavement as multiple black armored vans barreled down the freeway, sirens blaring and blue and red lights flashing. Commander Hackett stood from his seat, rugged features set in a strict scowl and adjusting his rifle in front of his tactical vest, hand reaching up to grip one of the hand helds hanging from the roof.
“Alright gentleman, we got a full scale bank robbery in motion. I’m talking hostages, and Intel confirms we’re looking at upwards of fifteen assailants armed with assault rifles and explosives. We’re guessin’ at roughly fifty hostages,” Clyde’s voice was loud and crisp, the baritone unmistakable with its unflappable cadence.
“Everybody knows what the fuck were doin’ right? I don’t want a single causality on my watch. Let’s get ready, and keep that head on a swivel. You know what I like to see fuckers. I want it loud and heavy, let’s give em’ somethin’ to be scared of, boys.” He commanded, and just like that his team fell in line as the vans screeched to a stop and the whole team hit the ground running like a well oiled machine.
Clyde directed the whole operation with unwavering confidence and experience. Setting up a line of communication, a backup plan and a second back up plan for that one too. He’d positioned his team in a way that half was ready for fire and the other half was ready for infil. C’mon fuckers. Come out come out, where ever you are.
Arguably, Clyde Hackett was a career criminals worst nightmare. Damn near two and half decades on the job will do as much, and his cool head prevailing was proof enough of his effective leading capabilities. That’s why, six hours later, Clyde was getting frustrated. pacing back and forth on the blacktop in front of the bank, the white stone of the building shining, it’s columns towering over his head.
“Update me. What’s going on.” He snapped at his negotiator, who - understandably - was frustrated too.
“Last ones not budging. We got fourteen in custody, gave themselves up for the deal, last one has a real chip on his shoulder and isn’t taking’ the bait.” The negotiator confirmed, updating Clyde who grunted his displeasure.
“Keep it up and put on the pressure. We’re infilling in twenty of he doesn’t give it up-“ Clyde was cut off with several gunshots and with a flurry of movement, every available rifle was pointed towards the front doors of bank.
Clyde lifted his own rifle, assessing the situation and his gut clenched, sweat dripping down his temples from his salt and pepper hairline under his helmet. Fuck. Fuck!
The last assailant barged out the glass doors and into the sunlight. Dressed in nondescript all black and a mask on, duffel on his shoulder stuffed full of moneys. In front of the assailant…a woman. He couldn’t get a good look at her, but he could tell she was terrified. Because pressed into her skull was the cold barrel of an Ak-47, and his forearm wrapped tightly in a chokehold around her neck.
“You let me leave with the money or the bitch fucking gets it!! I’ll blow her brains out on the pavement!!” The robber screamed, eyes shifting and fidgeting. It was clear he was on something, meth most likely if Clyde had to guess.
He took hold of the situation immediately, putting himself at center focus of the robber, rifle raised, and all his focus on negotiating the woman’s survival. It was personal now. You didn’t fuckin’ hurt women.
“Now..now, you just got yourself a mighty list of charges added to your dossier, hotshot. Why don’t you let the woman go, and we’ll drop some of em’,” Clyde said, his voice smooth and unwavering.
He’d finally got a look at the woman, and goddamn was she a looker. Not the time, Focus.
Clyde cursed under his breath when the robber shoved the barrel harder into her head and he refrained from wincing. Poor girl. The sniper should be lining up the shot from a nearby rooftop. He only needed to distract the - now terrorist - for only another minute or two.
“I said you’re gonna let me leave, or the little cunt gets it!” The criminal yelled against, voice cracking as he used the woman as a human shield.
“I never said you couldn’t, alright.” Clyde said again, unclenching his teeth and keeping it clear and calm despite how his insides turned with worry and stress for the pretty woman. “I give my word that no one will shoot if you just let her go. Release the girl!” Clyde demanded, holding his breath at the red laser dot centered on the criminals forehead.
Hook, line, and sinker.

The .50cal hit its mark, leaving the criminal headless and bloody, falling to the ground like a sack of potatoes.
