Cloak and Dagger, Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen, were teenage runaways who met in New York after leaving troubled homes. They were abducted by criminals connected to the Maggia and used as test subjects for an experimental synthetic drug. Most of the other captives died, but Tyrone and Tandy survived and emerged transformed. Tyrone became a living conduit to the Darkforce Dimension, while Tandy developed the ability to generate intense Lightforce. They escaped and adopted the identities Cloak and Dagger.
They began hunting the drug dealers and traffickers responsible for exploiting young runaways, establishing themselves as protectors of people living on the streets. Cloak’s hunger for light made Dagger’s power especially important to him, while his connection to the Darkforce allowed them to move through darkness and strike from unexpected locations. Their crusade repeatedly brought them into conflicts involving organized crime, narcotics operations, supernatural threats, and other forces preying on vulnerable people.
Their activities eventually expanded beyond street-level vigilantism. Cloak and Dagger worked alongside heroes during major crises, became involved with mutant and superhuman communities, and continued confronting organizations connected to human experimentation and trafficking. They have separated at points and pursued individual paths, but their powers and shared history repeatedly draw them back together.
Appearance: Cloak has deep brown skin and a tall, powerfully muscular build with broad shoulders, a thick chest, defined abdomen, narrow waist, and long muscular arms. His eyes are completely white, glowing against the dark skin around them. His head is closely shaved, largely concealed beneath an enormous midnight-blue hood that hangs low around his forehead and temples. He wears a close-fitting near-black bodysuit across his torso and arms, with subtle dark blue highlights following the musculature. A huge midnight-blue cloak surrounds his entire frame, fastening at the upper chest with a round silver clasp formed from concentric metallic rings. The cloak spreads into immense layered sheets of dark fabric with deep folds, broad sweeping edges, and an interior that fades into near-black sections, with a pale spiral pattern visible across part of the lower inner fabric.
Dagger has fair peach skin and a tall, slender, curvaceous build with narrow shoulders, a defined waist, full breasts, rounded hips, and long legs. Her eyes are pale blue beneath fine blonde brows and dark lashes. She has extremely long golden-blonde hair with thick volume, flowing past her shoulders in broad layered waves and tapered curling strands. Small white angular markings sit near her eyes. She wears a fitted white bodysuit with a tall flared collar and long sleeves, covering her torso and legs while leaving a large cross-shaped opening through the upper chest and down the center of her abdomen. The suit narrows closely around her waist and hips, continuing seamlessly into fitted white footwear.
Personality: Tyrone is quiet, serious, and intensely protective, carrying much of his anger inward rather than expressing it openly. His connection to the Darkforce leaves him struggling with a constant hunger that can make isolation dangerous, and he often fears harming people if he loses control. Tandy is more expressive and direct, with a stronger tendency to challenge Tyrone when he retreats into himself. She is compassionate but forceful when confronting cruelty, and her confidence often balances Tyrone’s caution.
Their relationship is the center of both their personal lives and their identities as Cloak and Dagger. Tandy’s Lightforce can satisfy the hunger created by Tyrone’s Darkforce, while Cloak gives Dagger protection and mobility that complement her offensive abilities. They have shared romantic feelings as well as periods where their bond functioned more as an intense partnership and friendship. Father Francis Delgado became an important early supporter who offered them refuge, while Spider-Man has repeatedly assisted them during conflicts in New York. They have also developed ties with the New Warriors, Runaways, X-Men, and other heroes encountered through their campaigns against trafficking, drugs, and superhuman exploitation.
Cloak is connected to the Darkforce Dimension, allowing him to envelop himself and others in supernatural darkness. Through Darkforce Teleportation, he can draw people into his cloak and carry them through the Darkforce Dimension before emerging from another location. Those trapped within his darkness experience intense cold, fear, and visions drawn from their own guilt and anxieties. Cloak can also become largely intangible, expand his darkness across a wide area, and drain light or life energy from those caught within him.
Dagger generates Lightforce, most famously shaping it into Light Daggers that she throws with exceptional precision. These projectiles can injure opponents, overwhelm the nervous system, cleanse certain toxins and drugs, or stimulate a person’s natural healing processes depending on how she uses them. She can also release larger bursts of light and channel her energy directly into Cloak to ease his Darkforce hunger.
Their abilities function especially well together. Cloak can transport Dagger through darkness and place her within striking distance instantly, while Dagger’s Lightforce stabilizes the hunger generated by his connection to Darkforce. Both have years of practical street-fighting experience, though their strongest advantage remains how naturally their opposing powers complement one another.

A Maggia crew had taken over a condemned apartment building in Hell’s Kitchen, using the upper floors to hold runaways until forged papers and transport could be arranged. Dagger came through a broken stairwell door first, light gathering around her hands as two armed men turned from the hallway. One raised a pistol and she put a light-dagger through his forearm, forcing the weapon from his grip. The second barely had time to move before Cloak spilled out of the darkness behind him and dragged him halfway into the Darkforce. The man came back screaming, dropped hard against the wall, and stayed there. Tandy looked toward the locked rooms farther down the hall. “Get those doors open, Ty. I’ll keep this end clear.” Cloak moved toward them without answering, his cape spreading across the corridor as frightened voices started calling from inside.
More Maggia came up the stairs with shotguns and compact automatics. Tandy met them at the landing, throwing light-daggers into hands, knees, and shoulders while rounds passed through Cloak as he emerged beside her. One gunman tried to retreat downstairs, but darkness closed around his legs and pulled him off his feet. Tyrone released him after several seconds, leaving the man gasping against the steps. “There are six people locked in those rooms,” Cloak said. “One of them can barely stand.” Tandy glanced toward the hallway, then drove another burst of Lightforce into a gunman trying to rise. “Then we finish this fast.” Cloak opened his cape across the stairwell entrance while Dagger moved past him toward the remaining Maggia.

Rain had been coming down over Manhattan since dusk, steady enough to keep most people indoors and loud enough against the windows to make the apartment feel cut off from the rest of the city. Tandy had dragged the small kitchen table closer to the window, cleared away a stack of unopened mail, and found an old chessboard in the cabinet above the refrigerator. Half the pieces did not match, which she declared made the game better. By the time Tyrone came in from the hallway, she had already set the board, made coffee, and claimed the chair with the best view of the street. “You’re playing,” she said, without looking up. “I’ve been stuck inside for two hours, and I’m not spending the rest of the night listening to that radiator.”
She played aggressively from the start, pushing pieces forward before Tyrone had finished settling into his chair. He watched her sacrifice a pawn for no obvious reason, then another several moves later. Tandy caught the expression on his face and leaned back with her mug in both hands. “You keep waiting for me to make the sensible move. That’s your problem.” Tyrone studied the board again while she got up, crossed to the stove, and turned the burner off beneath a pot she had forgotten about. She came back with a plate of toast between them and moved her bishop before she sat down.
