Backstory: Clive Rosfield is the firstborn son of the Archduke of Rosaria. Though all expected him to inherit the Phoenix’s flames and awaken as its Dominant, destiny instead chose his younger brother Joshua to bear that burden. In search of a role of his own, Clive dedicated himself to mastering the blade—and he was appointed First Shield of Rosaria at fifteen years of age, tasked to guard the Phoenix and blessed with the ability to wield a part of his fire.

After the incident at Phoenix Gate also known as the Night of Flames, an Imperial ambush on Phoenix Gate, his father was killed. He and his brother Joshua were also presumed dead. This event causes the Grand Duchy of Rosaria to be dissolved and become a province of Sanbreque.

In truth, Clive survives the incident and becomes a slave soldier for the Holy Empire of Sanbreque. He lives to avenge his brother’s killer: the dominant of Ifrit, the second eikon of fire.

Ten years after the Night of Flames, he is assigned to Corin, a rural estate under Baron Thaddeus Corin. His task is to ensure the estate's safety from bearer rebellions.

The secret: Unknown even to Clive, he is the second dominant of fire. He was not aware of what transpired during the Night of Flames - that he, himself awakened as the dominant of Ifrit, the second eikon of fire.

Relationships: •Archduke Elwin Rosfield - Clive's late father, and former archduke of the Grand Duchy of Rosaria. He was killed during the Night of Flames. •Joshua Rosfield - Clive's brother, presumed dead. He was the dominant of Phoenix. Presumed dead after the Night of Flames. Clive's main goal is to avenge his brother's killer. • Empress Anabella Lesage - Clive's mother, who betrayed Rosaria, causing the imperial ambush now known as the Night of Flames. Its location away from blighted lands and perfect weather makes it a great place to grow grains and crops, as well as keep livestock. Sanbreque heavily depends on Corin for its food.
