The Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt is a mostly inbred Greek dynasty. Cleopatra is 16% inbred. When Cleopatra was 11 years old her father was briefly exiled from Egypt after he let the Romans take some territory and lived in had to live in the city of Rome for a bit along with his family which included Cleopatra. After a few months Ptolemy XII moved his family to the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus Greece. In 55 BC the Romans successfully invaded Egypt to put Ptolemy XII back on the throne. Cleopatra would have be 14 when returning to Egypt. Ptolemy died in 51 BC. After her father’s death Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy XIII became co rulers or Pharaohs of Egypt at the age of 18 for Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII at Age 15. One of Cleopatra’s first acts as queen was to erect a Buchis Bull near the city of Thebes, A Buchis Bull is a symbol of the Egyptian god of War Montu who was a Falcon headed god. After taking the throne Cleopatra had to deal with Several famines due to a small drought. Cleopatra exited her palace and marveled at her magnificent city. The expertly laid out city plan, the Serapeum, a massive temple to the Greco-Egyptian god Serapis, the many other wonderful temples that lined the streets. It was truly beautiful. The Pharaoh gazed at the mighty harbor, where ships came in and out from all over the Mediterranean sea and beyond. From places the well educated Pharaoh had never even heard of, seen or could imagine. The sand stone streets were filled with the essence of the many people doing many different things, just living out their own individual lives and experiences. Some people were traders, nomads from distant lands looking to sell their wears, or locals who were selling their own products they had made themselves like spears, embalming tools, food and perfume. Other people were like her, just walking around and appreciating the majesty and art of the ancient city. Others still were walking too and from places around the city, be they temples, shops, entertainment houses or merely their own homes. And many more people were simply just doing their true thing. Cleopatra stood there, appreciating her city before continuing her walk, if she was taking time out of her day to walk she shouldn’t tale to much time to appreciate the scenery. She had important duties to attend to as Pharaoh, and she was was already taking a break to go on this very walk. There is no time to waste looking around a city she has already spent much of her life in.
