Appearance:

Cleo Innoa is specifically a 21-year-old, anthropomorphic Dark-Bodied Glass Snail, standing at 5 foot 2 inches tall (157.48 cm) with slimy opaque blue skin that has deep blue, irregular spots scattered across her limbs and torso. She wears specialized Aviator-styled glasses with teal lenses. Cleo also has two prominent, upward-curving antennae on the head, and two longer, floppy appendages on the sides of the face called “feelers”, that she uses to help detect disturbances in the air and read anyone’s emotions. Like other snails, she has a mouth piece called a radula, described as a tongue with many small serrated barbs to scrap nutrients off of surfaces.

The clothing that Cleo wears is very loose, having on a white, loose-fitting, short-sleeved crop top, and her bottoms are dark navy blue drawstring shorts featuring a ruffled waistband. This loose fit is intentional as it allows her "boneless body" to easily slip into her barrel-shaped shell backpack that’s of wooden-textured with black straps. While none of the “evolved” snails are born with their shells, certain manufactures make shells with straps that are almost like book-bags. Cleo doesn’t wear any shoes and goes around barefoot, or rather stumps for feet. While she does tend to mend her own clothes, it’s a species hurdle overall. Due to the slime snails/slugs make, traditional clothing is usually incapable to stay nice. And it’s less acceptable for non-carapace species to be in the nude.

Her body type is the typical athletic, and "curvy" feminine physique, notable for its exaggerated proportions and unique slimy texture, made of a gelatinous substance with a short minute tail. This is indicated by her smooth, rounded edges and the lack of rigid bone structure. Cleo’s body is a bit amphorus, such is her fantasy slime nature which she uses to slip into her backpack shell. So she can touch into somewhat different body shapes for the fun of it. Meaning that she’s able to have most of her body parts grow or shrink whenever she wants (chubby, skinny, busty, etc.)! Word of note however, she lacks nipples on her breasts (too bad, so sad lol).

Personality:

Cleo is described to be cheerful and has a somewhat childlike attitude, being an optimistic gal in the primal dystopian future. She’s considered as a bookworm, or a “booksnail” (haha) with how she reads up on so much information on specifically dragons, because she and her group called the Piscators, are freelance dragon researchers/hunters. She does a little bit of roleplay when she plays games, she’ll even make each little chess piece into an OC with a backstory—all knowledge matters!

She and her younger brother Elliott Younce, an ego-filled and sarcastic Striped-Bark Scorpion, were adopted at a young age by Landus Orfalin, an anthropomorphic Diplocalus who is the muscular scholar to them, taking care of the two as a pseudo-father. Cleo works out her muscles with her family and teammates to stay fit, refusing to fall forward on the ground and be stuck there like a real snail. Gotta deck dragons and villains in the face somehow!

Speaking of snails, Cleo still retains traits that real ones have like basking under blue rain showers, foaming little suds on her body when she gets really nervous, and she is a big fan of buffets— usually having a piece of food that she can eat throughout the day rather than one big meal like cabbages in her patch. However, being an anthropomorphic snail has its drawbacks like leaving a slimy trail of footprints behind, make her easy to find in a game of hide and seek.

Overall, Cleo is an intellectual who has a strong and brazen heart, keeping up an optimistic outlook on her life while she study the native dragons in her world.

Other miscellaneous facts:

  • While most would think snails and slugs would be common enough to be seen, they’re actually a rare race to find (At least on the surface that is). Public knowledge is that Cleo and other anthro-snails/slugs live in an unfindable city found deep underground with the outer-rim protected by a crystalline salt mine, governed by its ruling race. Only the higher officials know of this location when they visit to either talk or trade.

  • For their demeanor and wanting to make people smile, Cleo does generally like clowns. Though seeing their colorful faces gives her a specific fight/flight response.

  • Telling romantic emotions have been one of Cleo’s few blatant blindspots. You could go on 5 dates with her before realizing there was supposed to be romance.

  • Cleo is both a dominant and a submissive, not even having a euphoric kick when doing stuff like that. But regardless she will have her big dumb smile and be having fun like an oblivious friend. Moreover, she gets euphoria from a very specific and mundane thing. It’s unknown what it was, and she’ll never tell anyone about it.

  • Cleo is not too great with salt water. The ocean is quite the barrier for her and most invertebrate folk without boats, especially as it would dry her out ironically. Yet, she’s called by the sea for her study of dragons, considering most of them originate from the sea. Even if Cleo can’t swim in the salty sea-water, It’s always a good excuse for her to try on new outfits while at the beach.

  • Cleo does use her slime as a weapon. Not in massive globs, but they can be used in smaller portions whether for climbing and pinning down smaller threats.

  • Snails like Cleo aren’t born with shells like real snails, so snail-centered towns have learned how to grow and shape calcium, and create shells with certain magic, then make-shift those shells as backpacks of a variety of sizes to sell for those to wear.
