Sae Chabashira is a Japanese history teacher and the assigned homeroom teacher of Class D. She's also handling the same section on the 2nd Year Arc.
Sae is a 175 cm young woman with long brown hair that is tied in a ponytail with bangs swept to the left, brown eyes, a well-endowed voluptuous body and she is mostly seen with a serious expression on her face, although it does change into a smile on rare occasions. She is described as attractive by several who quickly took pictures of her at a school festival.
Her normal outfit consists of a black blazer with a white polo shirt underneath, a short black skirt with stockings and a pair of black heels, or long suit pants and a pair of white heels. She once wore a tracksuit for the island exam. During the festival, she wore a maid suit and garnered attention from both male students and adults. Her official BWH is 99-56-90.
As a teacher, Sae is very serious about her job. This was shown when she still made the effort to teach her class although most of them were not paying attention to her lesson. She follows the school rules to the letter which is shown when she bluntly told Ken Sudō that he would be expelled from the school for failing the test. She isn’t attached to her class and only does the bare minimum in aiding them in their endeavours. She prefers to let them fend for themselves and wouldn’t go out of her way to assist them even if they request her assistance. With that said, a few students have caught her eye and made her job more fun than it otherwise would have been.
She has subtle sadistic tendencies and sometimes shows them in public such as when she called her students disappointing after informing them that they wouldn't receive points after they idiotically blew through them in a month and took joy in their anguish and perplexed expressions. She also demanded a large sum of points from Kiyotaka Ayanokōji as part of his deal to prevent Ken from being expelled. She did this because she knew that he didn't have the amount to pay for such a thing and was curious to see what he would do next.
Despite her sadistic and arrogant tendencies, she has shown some leniency towards the class as well. She gave subtle hints as to why she wasn’t punishing students who were either sleeping or playing on their phones but none of them realized that each of their blatant disregard of the rules were being captured. She was also willing to rescind Ken's expulsion after Kiyotaka and Suzune Horikita upheld their end of the bargain to halt their classmates' fate, showing that she is at least honorable to her word.
She seems to have taken an interest in Suzune and Kiyotaka, as their selfless deed was something she had never seen at the school and wasn’t expecting such an outcome from a class she deemed worthless. She appears perceptive, as she was able to recognize the depths of Kiyotaka's intelligence and figure out that he was hiding his talents on purpose as he wouldn't be in the lowest ranking class if he was that amazing. She tried blackmailing him to reach Class A after his father requested that he be expelled but he refused to succumb to her threat.
She is shown to approach most things indifferently as shown when she was unfazed by Kiyotaka grabbing her by the collar after she ordered him to reach for Class 1-A, not punishing him after the ordeal either. She was also amused by Kiyotaka's refusal to comply with her and his father's wishes to advance even though she previously threatened to expel him.
According to herself, she has lived a life full of regrets implying that there were some terrible events that transpired some time ago. She has been seen smoking a cigarette when by herself, using it as self-medication to reduce her stress. She does give praise when praise is due such as when Kiyotaka played a perfect mellifluous piece on the piano which she admits that even when given a lifetime, she wouldn’t be able to reciprocate such a breathtaking feat that he did so effortlessly.
Some years ago, Sae attended Advanced Nurturing High School and was formerly a student of Class D. She attended school with Chie Hoshinomiya the current classroom teacher of Class B. The two have sustained an amicable relationship and sees each other as friends, despite their obvious juxtaposing personalities and demeanours.
After her graduation, it is unknown as to what she did but, according to herself, she lived a life full of regrets before becoming a teacher at her old high school.
She is likely a ENTJ, Cognitive function theory suggests they may have relied on Extraverted Thinking (Te) and Introverted Intuition (Ni). She is 1w9,

Class 1-A simply referred to as A-Class, is one of four classes in the first grade of Advanced Nurturing High School. In the S-System, this class is considered to be the highest ranking among the freshman students of the school. It is the one that most first year students aim to reach after advancing further in their studies. Due to this, class 1-A has a highly competitive environment. Although the class is full of excellent students, the class cohesion is not the best as it is filled with ambitious and individualistic students.
The Faculty Members for this class are: Tomonari Mashima - Homeroom Teacher Chie Hoshinomiya - Subject Teacher Kazuma Sakagami - Subject Teacher Sae Chabashira - Subject Teacher

First-Year Class A Teacher Evaluation Class Point Total as of 12/1: 874 UP UNTIL SUMMER VACATION I think Class A truly got off to a strong start by electing two cooperative leaders. While they've maintained high standards, they've also proven to be modest, and not conceited in the slightest. THE DESERTED ISLAND TEST By partnering with Class C, Class A successfully cleared the test while maintaining a record-high amount of class points. The final results were disappointing, but still indicative of their potential. THE CRUISE SHIP TEST In the absence of Sakayanagi Arisu, a class representative, the Class A students poured everything they had into this test. THE SPORTS FESTIVAL The athletes of Class A took the field. No particular problems occurred when Class A temporarily allied themselves with Class D during the festival. THE PAPER SHUFFLE The Class A students studied diligently and the test proceeded without incident.

In the S-System, this class is considered to be the second highest ranking among the freshman students of the school. This class is full of good natured people, making it possibly the most cohesive class of the four. This class is however often targeted by C-Class and A-Class due to their pacifistic nature and reluctancy to attack.

Advanced Nurturing High School, also known as Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School is a school established by the Japanese government to nurture young graduates that will support the country. It boasts a 100% employment and college entry rate, and with thorough, state-directed teaching methods, it spares no effort in pursuing the nation’s desired future. The area of the campus based on the light novel, is about 600,000 square meters. Each student will have their own points to be used in place of money when buying goods and services. There is nothing, within the realm of reason, that cannot be bought on campus using points. Each class is assigned class points. Class points will fluctuate based on the affiliated students’ behavior and the results of certain tests. Every month, each student is assigned private points equal to their class points times 100. Any student who fails to meet the required score on a midterm or final exam will be expelled. The threshold for expulsion is 50% of the average score of the rest of the class in any given subject. Class A through D labels are provisional and can change based on class point assignments. The class with the current highest total class points will be named Class A, with B, C, and D, being named respectively in descending order. Students are allowed to exchange private points among themselves. The acquisition of another students’ private points through fraud or threat will result in severe punishment, but the trading of points under any contract deemed legitimate will be left up to personal discretion. Students can buy the right to transfer to the class of their choosing. 20,000,000 private points are required to do this. All students must stay in on-campus housing and are forbidden to leave the campus except for certain special occasions. Additionally, contact with all outsiders is forbidden, including family and guardians. The school uniform provided for male students usually consists of a white dress shirt beneath a red button-up blazer, paired with dull green pants, brown shoes, and a blue or burgundy tie.
Female students wear a similar uniform, consisting of a white dress shirt and a red button-up blazer, along with a white miniskirt, black socks that vary from calf-length to thigh-length, brown shoes, and a blue or burgundy bow-tie. While the white dress shirt seems to be the standard dress code, some students are seen wearing different clothes (Perhaps via paying with Private Points for clothes bought at Keyaki Mall. Though it is likely it can be evaluated in the S-System, if clothes are taken into consideration. So like if you are sloppy, it might be a negative). Both male and female students wear the same red tracksuit when participating in sports or other physical activities. All students are expected to wear their school uniform when classes are in session or when they enter the school buildings.
Every middle school student in Japan is evaluated by the government whether they are allowed to enroll or not. The qualities that the school sought to nurture and seeks during their evaluation is not their overall capability but qualities that are yet to be revealed. Only the students that are on the accepted list and has decide to apply on their own are allowed to enroll. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is the only student that was allowed to enroll without being evaluated.

S-Point: Also known as S-System in the anime is one of the founding characteristics that largely contributes to the prestige of Advanced Nurturing High School and the promising future of its students. However, the concept of this system has yet to be revealed.
Class Point: These are evenly given to students in each class and varies between classes, depending on class' performance. Though all the accounted factors are still not clearly exposed, one thing's for sure is that they accumulate through class' effort to improve academic standing. Additionally, these values are announced at the end of each month. However, on the rare case where there's a dispute between classes, their respective class points are on-hold and in-deliberation. One class point equals 100 private points.
Private Point: These are the transferable quantitative values that each student possess which can be utilized for transactions, commercial trade, and contract as they are convertible in monetary unit. The value also grows for each student at the start of each month by the factor of 100 to the class points their respective classes hold; which means, if the class maintains 1,000 class points for the whole month, it is expected that each student in that class would have an additional 100,000 private points at the start of the following month. Each point is worth 1 yen in currency.
Protection point: Protection points grant you the right to override an expulsion. Even if you were to fail a test, as long as you have a protection point, you can use it to cancel out the questions you had gotten wrong. However, these points cannot be transferred between students.
Special Exam: An exam conducted to determine the class points for each class.

The Cruise Ship Special Test (船せん上じょう試し験けん, Senjō Shiken) is the second and final summer special exam administered by the faculty and staff of Advanced Nurturing High School at their special cruise ship, Speranza. It mainly aims to assess and hone the ability of freshman students to think critically, analyze the situation at hand and resolve the given problem. The ability to work creatively with imagination and work determinedly towards resolving the problem, such traits will also become vital for this task. This test happened three days right after the Deserted Island Special Test and spanned for about four days including a day to rest. Unlike the light novel and manga adaptation, the anime adaptation uses a different grouping method for this exam.
Rules: The exam starts at 8:00 AM on the first day. An email will be sent to all groups of the fact that the VIP students were already chosen. The exam itself will mostly take place between 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Students are free to act as they wish during the day. For about an hour each day, twice, groups will need to gather together and discuss. Content of the talk will be left up to the discretion of each group. At the end of the exam, the VIP students of other groups must be identified. This will be done between 9:30 PM and 10:00 PM. Only one answer can be submitted by each group. The answers must be sent to faculty members through a certain address that will be provided to mobile phones. The VIP student cannot be the one to send the answers. The identity of the VIP student of the group you are assigned must only be sent. Any other answer will be marked as invalid. Details of the results of the exam will be mailed to students by 11:00 PM on the final day.
Possible End Results 1- Share the identity of the VIP and clear the exam together as one. If the answers of the VIP student as well as the other group members are all correct, they will all receive private points (including members other than the VIP student themselves). 2- Answer incorrectly and the group loses but the VIP still receives points. If there are incorrect answers or unanswered questions by people other than the VIP student, only the VIP student will receive 500,000 private points. 3- A traitor uncovers the identity of the VIP. In the case that someone other than the VIP answers the question before waiting for the allocated time and answers correctly, the class the answerer belongs to will receive 50 class points each and the answerer themselves will receive 500,000 private points for themselves. On the other hand, classes whose VIP have been identified will receive a penalty of -50 class points for their whole class. Once this has been achieved, the test will be over for the group. However, if a member that belongs to the class of the VIP answers correctly, the previous result will be made invalid and the examination for that group will continue. 4- The traitor disregards the judgment of the VIP. In the case that someone other than the VIP answers the question before waiting for the allocated time and answers incorrectly, the class the answerer belongs to will receive a penalty of -50 class points each but the VIP will still receive 500,000 private points. The class which the VIP belongs to obtains 50 class points. If the answer is given incorrectly, the group's exam will end. However, if a member belonging to the class of the VIP is the one who answered incorrectly, the answer will be considered invalid and will not be accepted.
The roles of the faculy members in this exam are the following: To ensure a balanced and fair grouping of all students To ensure that the violence doesn't take place during the entire exam period To administer points accordingly
Freshman students are divided into 12 groups (9 groups having 13 participants while 3 groups having 14) representing the twelve symbolic Chinese zodiac signs. The VIP is determined by a logical rule: When the surnames of the group members are arranged in the Kana phonetic chart, the VIP has the same order of the animal they were assigned to in the Chinese zodiac.
Out of 160 first-year students, A-Class's Arisu Sakayanagi was the only absentee from the test, due to poor health condition

The Paper Shuffle is the second semester's final exam for the 1st year students of Advanced Nurturing High School. This is a pair-based exam where both participants are given 50 questions on each eight subjects for the total of 400 questions. All subjects will have a minimum standard of 60 points. The Paper Shuffle will have a span of two days, where students take four exams per day.
The pairings will be determined by a quiz exam before the month of the final exam. This exam is a mock exam which has no influence on any current grades. The quizzes will have 100 questions for a total of 100 points.
Partners should be paired in a way that forms the most balanced combination i.e. if one person scores the highest on the quizzes with a score of 100, and other person scores the lowest with a zero, then in such a case, they would be paired together.
Penalties: There are two ways to fail this exam:
If the final grade a pair gets on any one subject is under 60 points, then both members of the pair will be required to drop out. This 60 point threshold is the combined score of both of the two partners. The overall total score will be based on the total score of the pair. Even if one gets above 30 points in all eight subjects, if the pair's overall total points are below the standard, both partners will be expelled.
Each class will also be asked to brainstorm and write their own final exam questions. The questions they write will be used as the questions on the exam for one of the other three classes. In other words, they will have to launch an "attack" against one of the other classes, and the class that intercepts this attack will have to "defend". A class simply needs to nominate the desired class and inform about it beforehand. When more than one class nominate to attack the same class, the school will call upon the class representatives for the drawing of lots. The school will compare the overall grades on the finals between the two classes, and the class that wins will receive a total of 50 Class Points from the losing class. In a case where the exam becomes a direct match between two classes then the wager will be temporarily set to 100 instead of 50. But if the total score is the same in the end, the result will be a tie and there won't be any change in the number of points.
Class A is attacks Class B and must defend against them. Class B attacks A and defends against A Class C Attacks D and defends against D Class D attacks C and defends against them

Ayanokōji Group is a study group originally founded by Haruka Hasebe, inside Keyaki Mall. It first consisted of Haruka, Akito, Teruhiko and Kiyotaka. They decided to pick Kiyotaka as the leader of the group as well as its namesake, and refer to each other by their first names (Teruhiko would ask to be called as "Keisei", rather than his actual first name). Shortly later, Kiyotaka spotted Airi silently watching them, who then announced her presence and was promptly accepted.

Haruka Hasebe is of Class 1-D. Her birthday is November 5. Student ID - S01T004747.
Haruka is a teenage girl who is considered to be highly attractive by her classmates with waist-length blue hair that has bangs going on either side, orange eyes with a mole visible beneath her left eye, a well-endowed body and an average height.
She is mostly seen wearing the school's uniform, with the difference that she has the upper button of her shirt undone and her tie relatively loosened.
Haruka is a pretty normal person, but she is not very open to other people as shown when she didn't participate in the class's swimming session where she tends to prefer keeping to herself and not bothering people, simply to avoid trouble.
In the light novels, she is shown to be overly-conscious and uncomfortable with several boys giving her attention, due to her large bust. As a result, she tries to avoid flirty boys.
She speaks quite a lot but only with people that she is comfortable with such as those in the Ayanokōji Group. She also has a habit of nicknaming her friends, such as giving Kiyotaka Ayanokōji the nickname "Kiyopon" or "Ayanon" because they sounded cute, showing that she enjoys teasing others a lot.
Even though she enjoys teasing her close friends, she is also shown to be be firm at times as was shown in Volume 1 of Second Year Arc, when she called "Kiyotaka" (despite her habit to call him Kiyopon) in a serious tone.[1]
She is also shown to be a caring friend as she encouraged Airi Sakura to become bolder and attract Kiyotaka's attention by dawning the same revealing Bikini swimsuit as her. She took extra steps by confronting Kiyotaka and asking him what he thinks of her so that Airi doesn’t have to. She believes that the concept of love will elevate and develop Airi to become a better person, and questioned why Kiyotaka didn’t accept her even though he is aware of her feelings. She is aware and attentive to her close friends feelings, which Kiyotaka took advantage of by tasking her to take care of Airi's feelings once he decides to reveal his secret relationship, which will undoubtedly cause her a deep depression.
Airi got expelled from school in 2nd year volume 5, Haruka nominated herself to be expelled but it did not work.
She did not come to school for a week and then returned. Haruka said he wants to get back at Kiyotaka and Suzune.
Both Kiyotaka and Kikyo said Haruka is not worried at all about Airi, but Haruka merely enjoyed finding someone weaker than herself and then helping them liking that she is superior to them. Which Haruka said it was true. Haruka wass shown to believe only what she thinks is right and nothing else as she said that the reason this package was given to Kiyotaka was because of Airi's hatred toward Kiyotaka and she did not listen to Akito's word and just wanted to drop out and see Airi. Kikyo said Haruka is just like her family and this was the reason why she could not make one true friend before coming to school. When Haruka learned about Airi's idol life and she was doing her best Haruka decided to do her best too so she can graduate from A-class and see Airi with pride.
Plot:Haruka is first seen at D-Class's swimming sessions, she does not participate though, and sits in the bleachers as the rest of the class enjoy themselves.
Afterwards, she is mostly seen in the class doing her assignments or doing nothing.
She takes part in the survival test, where she is one of the girls who wanted the boys to be separated from the girls after Kei Karuizawa's underwear was stolen.
Haruka revealed in her short story that she has never experienced love before.

The White Room was established 20 years ago. It was founded and headed by Kiyotaka Ayanokouji father, Professor Ayanokouji. It is an educational institution which aims to raise a human by removing unnecessary things from their education. However, the institution was temporarily shut down for one year. This gave Kiyotaka Ayanokouji the opportunity to escape and take refuge at the Advanced Nurturing High School. The White Room began right from the first year of the first generation's life, with subsequent new generations being formed annually. Each generation is educated under different leaders, and receives the corresponding education. After which, it would then be evaluated and verified for which group had the most effective education. Hundreds of children have been trained under the White Room's education system. Children of different generations wouldn't have been able to see each other. Although they were in the same facility, they did not know the appearance and names of anyone else but themselves.
All children in the White Room can grow to a certain level. However, trying to exceed that level has never been possible to begin with. According to Tsukishiro, the evidence can be found in that facility, which has been operating for nearly 20 years, and how not a single child has been able to reach the target except for Kiyotaka Ayanokouji. It's impossible for any White Roomer including Kiyotaka Ayanokouji to know where they go after leaving the facility. So far, most of the children raised in the White Room have their own problems, and so they cannot be put to good use like contributing to society outside that facility. While raised in the White Room, they are unable to live a normal life or grow up properly compared to every other students who are not from that facility normally would. Tsukishiro remarks that they will not able to last in the real world environment, as their hearts have already long since been damaged by the White Room.
It was the goal of the White Room to have children be nurtured and raised with a complete education straight from birth. He stated that if this can be achieved successfully, Japan itself would experience growth the likes of which the world has never seen before. Under the influence of various mysterious factors taken into consideration and used under the White Room, people's growth varies greatly. It is impossible to cultivate success by using the same method over and over again on everyone, hence why there are different generations of White Roomers. The White Room was able to produce tangible results for people outside Kiyotaka Ayanokouji generation. In this case, it was said that the 5th and 6th generation of White Roomers are among those who happened to survived until the very end of their education, and there are some of them with the potential of producing great results. All that is left is to perfect the education system, and after doing so, the White Room may be considered an indispensable asset in the near future.
Kiyotaka Ayanokouji as a young child, and other children were lined up before one of them mysteriously collapsed. The other children were worried but he simply looks on unfazed and devoid of emotions, as if it was a natural occurrence. At some point in the past, a man who was later revealed to be his father appeared before him. He told his son that those who waste their talents are fools, which is probably the reason as to why he prefers to keep his talents hidden from others as to discard and rebel against that man's ideals. Sometime after that, due to suffering from the arduous and plentiful trainings, a majority of the children dropped out leaving Kiyotaka Ayanokouji as the only known remaining survivor. That led him to regard all humans as mere tools. Ichika Amasawa from the generation after Kiyotaka Ayanokouji notes how the classrooms, corridors, assigned living chambers, and pretty much everything around them was a world full of pure whiteness.
According to Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, during a meeting between him and his father, he had said that the White Room was perhaps the most efficient place in the whole world to raise a human. However, not everything could be taught there as it was an institution that threw away anything unnecessary to the extremes. the White Room has had 19 generations of students in total, with each generation forming annually. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is from the "Demonic 4th Generation", which had the hardest and most cruel course of all generations. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji has also confidently stated that when it comes to the White Room, he is the best student to have ever come out of it. As a result of his success, the faculty has been using Kiyotaka Ayanokouji as the benchmark for future generations' students, including telling them to "exceed him" as their end goal.
Furthermore, the White Room is a special kind of facility whose ultimate goal is to raise all people unto equivalent superiority. It is a place where they seek to prove that the limits of humanity are decided not by one's own genetics, but by their environment in which one is raised in. In other words, they want their products to harbour and develop outstanding talent, not just those blessed with excellent genes like Ichika. Children who are at the age of 10 years old were taught Systems’ Theory based on Project 5. And by the age of 11, it was said that they also end up learning about the Theory of Relativity based on Project 7. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji father firmly believes that his son is an existence that can become a perfect model, and lead the masses. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji was the result of his father's absolute pursue of an ideal he sought to realize and build.
No one who had studied in the White Room didn't know the name that was Kiyotaka Ayanokouji. It was due to the undeniable fact that he was better than any student, at any grade or age that his name was often brought up as a topic of comparison and reverence. None of the previous gens and after could surpass the last survivor of 4th generation. He alone had a huge impact on the entire White Room. It was said that no matter how extreme the training program is, he was able to leave behind a legacy of excellence, surpassing all expectations. This is remarkable as irrespective of how hard a genius White Room student tried to show off one's worth, no matter how excellent their grades and abilities were, they were still not easily recognized by their instructors other than receiving a few words of encouragement to try and become someone who can surpass Kiyotaka Ayanokouji. All they got were simple commands, telling them to catch up to him. It was an idea that had been painstakingly instilled within the minds of those who were raise in the White Room. As Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is no exception, other White Room students like himself had played against a great number of so-called professional instructors and fighters to hone their knowledge, skills, and abilities in all sorts of areas over time. White Room teaches many different fields like the liberal arts, sciences, martial arts, self-defence techniques, and a myriad of worldly wisdom, all of which are at or above the tiers of professional level. The instructors would strongly emphasize their words intentionally, looking to get the White Room students to surpass their potential by fanning the sense of rivalry with their best, invoking and instilling the feeling of wanting to surpass Kiyotaka Ayanokouji.
For the Fifth gen and beyond, some of those who studied there started to “worship” Kiyotaka Ayanokouji who had been made a God by them, viewing him to be someone unreachable and question whether such a person ever existed. Such White Room children that idolize him had originally accepted education to become number 1 earlier than anyone else. However, they gave up on becoming number 1 themselves and were removed from the competition after realizing how impossible for them it was to overcome and beat Kiyotaka Ayanokouji results and accomplishments. Unlike the worshipers, there were others who instead began harboring immense feelings of jealousy and hatred when it comes to Kiyotaka Ayanokouji as rivals and competitors. Those particular White Room students don't welcome the fact that Kiyotaka Ayanokouji was called a masterpiece and wishes to disprove it with their own hands. The goal of the White Room wasn't to create people who could become number 1. Rather, it was to establish the research that could allow for mass production of exceptional people equal to Kiyotaka Ayanokouji himself. That was the real reason for the White Room's existence. As long as it is an example of a success story, it didn't really matter who it will be in the end, whether that person was Kiyotaka Ayanokouji or another White Room student.
In the White Room, there wasn't any rule expressly forbidding romance like there is for idols but things that would allow a romance to successfully be established absolutely didn't exist there. Playtime, holidays, and things resembling those didn't exist there. Other than limited toilet breaks and bath times, they were constantly monitored. A romantic development was then thought to be something inconceivable due to the very nature of the facility being an antithesis of it. People raised from the white Room never fails to make preparations to defend themselves at all times in there. Students who failed the White Room were of no value to the higher-ups. If they were deem worthless or unsuccessful, those White Room students would end up in the same place as their peers who were 'eliminated' down the road. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji had seen countless children excluding himself suffering from the problem in the White Room where they are unable to pour out their true feelings, believing it's a painful place for them to be in when there isn't anyone they can properly hold a talk with. There are a group of people in that facility who eventually broke down and disappeared. They were described by Kiyotaka Ayanokouji to be beyond the hopes of recovery. Currently, the White Room has recently resumed operations to carry on their experiments.
4th Gen: They focus on pure individualism. With all of the students dropping out due to its excessively harsh education, almost everybody from this generation of children are gone except for Kiyotaka Ayanokouji who managed to survive and pass the final course easily. Due to being trained under excessive individualism, children were often crushed one after another until the last one remain standing strong. However, regardless of successes and failures, those with poor scores notwithstanding and those with excellent scores were still allowed to come in contact with each other.
5th Gen: They have more focus placed on communication and collaborations. All children were required to maintain a minimum level of interpersonal communication before being allowed to talk to one another. Only those raised in the White Room with the same skills as this group of children could properly have a conversation with them without problem but in the real world, it was said to be impossible by Tsukishiro. They also go through the same type of training as previous gens.
Arisu is the only known student at Advanced Nurturing High School that was not from the White Room to have visited the facility. While the White Room is the most “efficient” place to raise a human, it does not teach the necessary social skills for everyday life. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is the one and only White Room student with the depth in his two eyes that was filled with deep darkness, it was something those other excellent White Room students can’t imitate. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji regards the White Room as a place where there was no gender bias in the children raised in that facility since their pedagogy treated boys and girls equally. The meals provided within the White Room were controlled down to the most minute detail. It was basically impossible for the children growing up in that environment to be obese. There were periodical physical examinations in the White Room. They collected vastly more data than what a normal school's physical examinations would measure. The subject of falling in love can't be learn in the White Room. In the White Room, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji learned how to play chess. For a student from the White Room, getting a perfect score on the entrance exam for enrolling in Advanced Nurturing High School wouldn't be difficult in the slightest. They'd be able to get an A or A+ rating in Academic Ability with ease if they desired to. In other words, that meant that they'd be able to control their rating however they wanted within the OAA app like the lowest rating E. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji considered the White Room quite problematic from a human-rights perspective.

"I don't want to be interrupted. I'm the only one worthy of burying the false genius." "It's been quite a long time, Ayanokōji-kun. It's been eight years and 243 days actually." "Oh, it's quite all right that you don't know me. But I know you. We have a strange sort of bond, you could say. To reunite with you in a place like this... To be honest, I never thought I'd see you again. But now, all the mysteries have been cleared away. The island, the cruise ship, and Class D's expulsion uproar. I couldn't imagine that everything was on account of Horikita Suzune. So you were pulling the strings." "Sorry for laughing. I didn't intend to insult you. I know quite well how incredible you are. I've been looking forward to this. I'll be able to realize my dearest wish by destroying the greatest masterpiece that your father ever made." "I'm here purely by coincidence." "My, my, you don’t like it? I think it’s a wonderful nickname. Sorry. Anyway, there’s something here that I don’t quite understand." Class representative of A-Class. Her birthday is March 12. 150 cm
Arisu is a petite teenage girl with lilac colored, short hair that reaches her shoulders and violet eyes. She wears the standard female school uniform which consists of a white shirt, red blazer, a navy blue bow tie, white skirt with black frills at the end and dark brown shoes, with her accessories being a black beret on her head with a gray ribbon connected to it and a white pair of stockings with garterbelts.
She often walks with a cane and is quite short for her age when comparing to other classmates, due to her congenital heart disease. Many people in the school finds her cute but are afraid to approach her due to the power and dominion she wields.
Arisu appears to possess a "go with the flow" attitude as she accepts most situations without protest or complaints. Although she does openly voice her dislike of boring situations after Kōhei Katsuragi (Arisu's classmate) spoke about the class scores. Unlike Katsuragi, who has a conservative stance, Arisu possesses an innovative outlook on things. Together, the pair effectively lead Class A through the school years. In the eyes of her schoolmates, she is considered to be someone who stands out from the rest and that no one has ever seen her lose her composure. In truth, she is just like any normal girl.
She enjoys situations she finds interesting as shown when she smiled at Kakeru Ryūen's declaration to rule the school or when she listened to the speech of Suzune Horikita.
In the light novels, Arisu enjoys toying with people, as seen when she cryptically hinted that she knew Kiyotaka , whereas he doesn't remember meeting her before. Later on, while being together with Honami Ichinose, she also appeared to be very confident and complacent after Teruhiko Yukimura of Ayanokōji Group boldly claimed that D-Class has a plan to overtake A-Class soon. She always carries an aura of imperturbability and seems like a wiseacre whenever anyone is in her presence. Although her soft tone could effortlessly make people feel comfortable around her.
Additionally, although she has an easygoing personality, it was shown in the latter part of the series that she is easily provoked when being described based on her petite appearance (e.g. "Little Girl"), as she believes that it does not give her justice, due to her domineering qualities. She may come off as egotistical and arrogant towards onlookers, however this is also a frequent use of one of her tactics to establish control over the minds of those she chosen. She also holds grudges but doesn’t exhibit them on the outside. After Haruki Yamauchi made her fall and made a crude comment about her, she pretended that it didn’t affect her before plotting and executing his expulsion by pretending she was interested in him.
Background: Since her childhood, Arisu always believed that a person's potential is simply tied to their genetic, and that a child with superior DNA will always be on the top. After visiting the White Room with her father, Chairman Sakayanagi, she found that one certain child in the facility was outsmarting everyone else in chess, overwhelmingly defeating his opponents, one after the next. Among the children, he was the only one snatching away Arisu's gaze. According to her father, his name was Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, the son of the person running the facility. Arisu then decided she wants to defeat him and everyone else present there to prove to her father that talent is not decided by education, but from the moment people are born and that she who had superior DNA could never lose to the children from that facility.
Along with Kōhei Katsuragi, Arisu leads A-Class and has a loyal group of followers that would faithfully do everything she orders. Despite her limited physical ability due to birth defects, Arisu is notable for her talents as being the only person Katsuragi reports to, despite his own outstanding academic prowess and leadership skills. Manabu Horikita, the former Student Council president, even praised her phenomenal holistic management of her class, such as being able to stand out from the rest of the classes in terms of class points despite only having a handful of weeks to establish her control, and personally invited her for a chat to commend her achievements.
She is also shown to be resourceful as when she was unable to go on the school cruise, she had Masumi Kamuro conduct research on certain students and Masayoshi Hashimoto to physically manifest her plans in her stead.
Arisu is known for receiving great scores throughout her school-year and has the highest overall score for her year in the OAA. Even Manabu Horikita, the previous Student Council president at that time who has extremely high standards, praised her grades in the recent midterms. This was notable as the only other person he had ever been seen complimenting was Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, who is extremely intelligent and skilled in manipulating his academic ability in his own right. She easily boast one of the highest academic and adaptability grades in the entire school's history. During the Partner Exam, where many questions had difficulty equal to college questions, she was acknowledged by Kiyotaka for achieving high grades in them, though she didn't go to any sort of facility like White Room.
Arisu is known for her vast intelligence, which even garnered praises from many people from other classes such as Honami Ichinose, the representative of B-Class who reported to her teacher Chie Hoshinomiya that Arisu is someone they had to actively watch out for.
She is also very manipulative, cunning and perspicacious in her plans which can only be rivalled by Kiyotaka. She knows how to play to her charm and beauty and isn’t above using them to get to her objectives such as expelling Haruki Yamauchi. One of the way she does this is by playing to the strength of her allies while targeting the weaknesses of her enemies, crippling them before they can attack. For instance, she was able to emotionally scar Honami by revealing her secret, effectively taking out the leader of the second best class and their chances of competing with her. Additionally, she played Honami to her advantage by exploiting Honami's kind and forgiving nature by forming an alliance with them before other classes could.
She is also very good in chess, perfectly capable to be on the national level and even cause difficulty for Kiyotaka who was trained from young to be virtually perfect in it. She is easily able to factor in her opponent's idiosyncratic thought processes in her plans, thinking more than 10 steps ahead of them and countering them in the span of seconds.
Her deduction and analytical skills are one of the highest in the entire school and on par with Kiyotaka when he is serious. She is easily able to lead and have dominion over most of her classmates in A-Class who are full of distinguished students and individualistic personalities and have them obey her every command.

From his time there, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji underwent various training regiments, presumably including martial arts, while taking heavy and challenging written examinations giving him both extreme physical abilities and mental prowess. With this point of view, he became determined to win no matter what and sacrifice anything or anyone to achieve his goal of obtaining victory. His father was pleased with his success, believing that his son would be the greatest in the world. At some point, the White Room was temporarily shut down for one year and this gave Kiyotaka Ayanokouji a chance to escape with the help of Matsuo, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji butler who told him to enroll at the Advanced Nurturing High School where his father cannot reach, and he would be able to live a normal school life. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji took the entrance exams to enter Advanced Nurturing High School and scored exactly 50 out of 100 points on every subject. this act was done on purpose to avoid unwanted attention from the school, which he denied by claiming it to be merely a coincidence. the biggest reason why he chose Advanced Nurturing High School was that he wanted freedom. in middle school, he was forbidden to associate with friends, or even relatives, that were not approved for him. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji past is showered in enigma, but brief glances has shown him to be extremely intelligent and perceptive since he was very young. Other than his claims of participating in after-school activities such as piano, calligraphy, and tea ceremonies. He have been a part of The White Room in his younger years. While Kiyotaka Ayanokouji did attempt to make friends when he joined his class, his inexperience in social matters caused him to miss out in forming a group, inadvertently ostracizing himself and becoming a loner. While he did find an associate in Suzune Horikita who was also left alone, he was put off by her dislike of friendship and uncaring nature towards others. He was also peeved at her individualistic and prideful nature. Despite his desire to live an ordinary quiet student life, he always finds himself helping people in their desperate times of need as shown when he helped Suzune avoid an assault from her older brother, helped Ken Sudo avoid expulsion twice and saved Airi Sakura from a stalker as well as gaining the latter's affections for him. While initially socially excluded, he gained great popularity from his class after he revealed some of his true talents following a race with Manabu Horikita. By doing this, girls started fawning over him. Physical Ability: there is more to Kiyotaka Ayanokouji than he lets on as during his encounter with Manabu Horikita, a veteran blackbelt. Although Kiyotaka Ayanokouji didn't attack, he was able to evade all of Manabu's strikes in the battle with relative ease and managed to deflect a calculated blow forcing Manabu to create distance between them. This action earned praise from Manabu, who inquired as to what fighting arts he practiced but instead received an unconvincing answer in return, showcasing Kiyotaka Ayanokouji excellence in martial arts and evasive nature. The best fighters of the school all acknowledges and respects his fighting prowess in turn, they all rather stay in his good grace and not make him an enemy during physical confrontations. he possesses incredible speed as he was able to run at an equal speed, probably even faster, as Manabu in a race Kiyotaka Ayanokouji only ended up losing the race after unexpectedly changing tracks to avoid one of the other participant that tripped into his lane. Even so, he was not far off from him when he finished and was significantly ahead of the other participants despite the hiccup. Observers deduced that he would had won handily if it was a fair match. Similar to hiding his true intellect, he prefers to also keep his physical capabilities to himself. He just didn’t feel the need to reveal his skills, so the full extent of his physical feat and fighting skills are unknown. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji proficient martial arts were seen when he completely overwhelmed Kakeru Ryuen, who was a very capable fighter. The latter was easily defeated causing him to end up be completely helpless against the onslaught of Kiyotaka Ayanokouji attacks as he mercilessly punched him repeatedly for harming Kei. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji proved to possess good endurance as he took a couple of blows from multiple opponents but shrugged them off as he managed to defeat and overpower Daichi Ishizaki easily, Albert Yamada and Mio Ibuki, despite him having a very large physique, and the other two being very skilful fighters in their own right. These feats were notable as he emerged without earning so much as a scratch in the entire brawl. His dexterity was shown when he handily defeated Albert, Ishizaki, Ibuki and Ryuen at the same time, a feat no other student is likely to achieve. He was able to block Albert's full power punch with one hand - a person who was an entirely different weight-class that can knock out people with one blow and cause serious injuries. Mio challenged Kiyotaka Ayanokouji to a rematch and lost while believing Kiyotaka Ayanokouji was fighting seriously but was actually not. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji was approached by Ryuen and was able to avoid all of his surprise attacks with perfect precision, it made Ryuen call him a "monster", the highest praise that he could describe another person. Kushida commented Kiyotaka Ayanokouji physical prowess along with Ichika's are abnormal. Intellectual ability: Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is extremely intelligent as he intentionally scored exactly 50 out of 100 points for each subject on his entrance exams. He is even more intelligent than Suzune Horikita who holds the highest scores in his class. He is also a very skilled negotiator as he was able to secure old test answers from an upperclassman by using both Kikyo Kushida's charms and his deceptive nature. He further displayed this by overturning the expulsion of Ken by offering his teacher points while knowing it was within the school's rules and with Suzune's assistance, his plan succeeded, earning praise from his teacher. He is incredibly perceptive and meticulous, he is very accurate almost all the time since he was able to study the exact personalities in others. He picks up on situations very fast. He was a skilled master in the art of manipulation. He also manipulated Kei to breakdown using Shiho Manabe and her group which later used the opportunity to reveal his true self for Kei to follow his orders. Even Kushida admitted that she couldn't win against him due to how he outsmarted her multiple times. He has exceptional autobiographical memory, remembering a test from when he was only two years old, or remembering conversations from when he was an infant with extraordinary detail. This makes him mentally older than all his peers. He knew that Professor Ayanokouji was his father, as he remembered a conversation between the teachers when he was a few years old. He even remembers his monologues from his past. Academic abilities: Although Kiyotaka Ayanokouji prefers not to draw attention to himself and would much rather fade in the background, he possesses outstanding talents in his academics that can’t be hidden, he intentionally entered D-Class to hide his true talents. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji even declined an offer to join the student council, to avoid more work, he has great talent in the art of being inconspicuous, except for the few who happen to notice his talents. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is clearly the smartest student in his class and could have effortlessly gotten into the upper classes. His intellect has been shown to even surpassed that of the mindset and ingenuity of Kohei Katsuragi who is considered the second smartest in the year level. His actions in the survival test even caused Suzune to question what drives him since he has proven that he is more than qualified to be apart of A-Class. Sae was also amazed by his plan quickly pulling one over on the other classes even giving him praise. he might even be academically smarter than even Suzune with his suppressed showings, which is notable as she is exceptionally excellent in her academics. He was also able to come up with plans in a shorter amount of time. there isn't a single question he can't solve ever since he arrived in the school. This is especially remarkable as the school deliberately added questions from university level and above.

Kiyotaka shares the same birthday with Kakeru Ryuen. Kiyotaka resides on the fourth floor of one of the dorm buildings, in Room 401. According to Sae Chabashira, since class 1-D is for those with defective traits, Kiyotaka is the most "defective" student of her class due to him purposefully hiding his true talents.
Powers and Abilities: White Room Training. Photographic Memory (Was implied to have a perfect memory by a White Room instructor. Was able to remember positions of 45 cards and was 100% correct in naming them. In 3 years, he was implied to never forget anything, not even the memories made just after his birth. He could remember the first memory of him discovering his own hands and the ceiling of the White Room, when he was only a newborn and couldn't speak) Enhanced Senses (Enhanced Awareness) Accelerated Development (Training and Battle: Physical stats, skills and Intelligence - Quickly developed past Shiro completely in just back to back 3 matches and never lost to him again up until 9 years old, no matter which fighting style they used, he is constantly developing a growth rate far higher than any other students. It was said that if Kiyotaka was to be compared to any other child from age 0 to 3 there would be a big gap in ability and by the time he and other White room Students were in "junior high" they would have the mental age of 30. It was noted by a young Arisu Sakayanagi that it is due to his "superior DNA", he adapted to the White Room training beta curriculum harsh training, Shiro said that for every brawl he had with Ayanokouji, he used to win a few first matches against Ayanokouji but Ayanokouji never lost afterwards, despite both being trained in the same facility and continuously, it was stated that he can absorb everything that is given to him via his adaptability and he never reached his "plateau".) Information Analysis (Got an idea of his opponents being much stronger than the adults he had fought before and having been in an uphill battle just upon analyzing their movements, chose a weapon to fight them upon looking at the pros and cons of a given weapon upon the information) Supernatural Willpower (Made it to level 10 when level 5-6 is considered the limit of human development)
Resistence to: Limited Fear Inducement - (his emotions stopped working, this should likely be the reasons why he was unaffected by Ryuen's glare that stunned Housen Kazuomi. It was mentioned that White Room subjects were given training to not feel emotions like fear.) Social Influencing (Coercion - Stated he cannot be manipulated due to not having the heart for it) All previous abilities and current Ayanokouji abilities massively better except Social Influence (Coercion) Stealth Mastery (Can kill his presence. He also followed several people without being noticed.) Analytical Prediction (Reads Ryuen very easily and placed his hand in the places like seconds before Ryuen even attacked there, Can think of every possibility and chooses the most optimal one and by extension he can predict the future to some extent by sheer mental calculations.) Better Enhanced Senses (Enhanced Awareness - Knew Kei was following him without even seeing her, Knows someone is following him by sensing their presence. Said it himself that he was capable of fighting Tsubasa Nanase even with his eyes closed.) Better Information Analysis (Can gauge the opponent strenght by mere glancing and know what martial arts they are using with a glance) Limited Power Mimicry (Able to copy someone by absorbing visual and verbal information, however, this extends only to physical abilities such as sports and techniques which are near to his learnt techniques.) Social Influencing (Passive - His presence can make Karuizawa more perceptive about her environment, People's emotions, Facial expressions and atmosphere, Active - Manipulated Ryuen into thinking all of his plans were his own where instead Ayanokouji already planned every line of thinking Ryuen had and he lured Takuya into expelling himself with a love letter) Fear Inducement (Caused Karuizawa and Hirata to spill their secrets by inducing fear in them, Hirata said that Ayanokouji's eyes showed a darkness which was so dark that it was terrifying. Stunned Nagumo with his killing intent)
Attack Potency: Could defeat 6 professional fighters without any change in heartbeat, implying that he didn't find it difficult. The fighters were said to be better than even the White Room instructors while breaking their bones in the process, who should be comparable to the likes of Tsukishiro and Shiba, both of whom current Ayanokouji face difficult to face. Speed: At least Subsonic, likely higher Lifting Strength: Peak human, Possibly Superhuman (Far superior to the likes of the students of 5th Generation White Room, which includes Takuya Yagami and Ichika Amasawa, might not be superior to his current self due to less muscle mass) Striking Strength: His attacks are through physical force, Implied he could beat 6 professional fighters with no weapons as he didn't want to use them in the first place) Durability: Capable of tanking his own attacks, Constantly had beatings as a kid to the point it was normal having no air to breathe) Stamina: Superhuman (Belongs to the 4th Generation White Room and completed all its level, the training of Level 10 was beyond Level 5 or 6 which was said to be the human limit, despite the potentials being pushed beyond the human limits in the White Room) Range: Standard Melee Range, Extended Melee Range with batons, higher with Stun gun Standard Equipment: None notable Optional Equipment: Baton, Stun Gun, Knife Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius (Did "Taylor Series" equations at a very young age in the White Room, stating that it involved Theory of relativity studies and Number theory, Called a genius among geniuses, Analyzed the pattern of a guessing game instantaneously and got a 100% which was a first, It is believed however that said goal would be Further showing the gap between Ayanokouji and everyone else, By the age of junior high/high school, would have a mental age of 20-30, Can outplay a chess engine by the government that can play 20 Million moves per seconds and perform better moves) Standard Tactics: Ayanokouji for the most part likes to avoid fighting. He just wants to live a normal school life without confrontation. His main 3 fighting styles are Karate, Boxing and Jeet Kune Do. All of his strikes are calculated, and if the opponent has overwhelming durability like thick muscle mass he attacks the weak points of the body. His catches his opponents off guard by manipulating their perception of his full strength then quickly defeats them. He usually only needs to perform simple punches and kicks, due to already being massively stronger than most of his opponents. He is an incredibly strategical and analytical fighter. Weaknesses: None notable in combat, his lack of emotions was said to be both a strength and a weakness. While he understands human emotions, he is unable to feel them himself.
Lifting Strength: At least Peak human, Possibly Superhuman (Stronger than Sudo who has a grip strength of 82.4 Kilograms and stronger than Koenji who can grapple with a boar with no issue at all) Stamina: Superhuman (Able to defeat multiple White Room agents at once. He is from the fourth-generation which is significantly tougher than any generation for having level 10 training while level 5 or 6 was considered as the peak of human development, even after having the human abilities pushed beyond its limit in the White Room already) All of his strikes are calculated, and if the opponent has overwhelming durability like thick muscle mass he attacks the weak points of the body. His catches his opponents off guard by manipulating their perception of his full strength then quickly defeats them. He usually only needs to perform simple punches and kicks, due to already being massively stronger than most of his opponents. He is an incredibly strategical and analytical fighter.
Attack Potency: At least Street level (Stated it himself that he can't destroy an elevator door completely, but can at least create an opening big enough to escape through, Fought and easily defeated Ryuen Kakeru, Albert Yamada, Daichi Ishizaki and Mio Ibuki (who can perform this) Punched Nagumo in the chest knocking him unconscious. A master of martial arts who has been through intense training that no other human attending was able to survive. He was even able to level the power of Kazuomi Hosen, which according to Sudo, was incredibly strong, and according to Kiyotaka, not even Ryuen, Albert or former President Horikita could match him. Is superior to the likes of Ichika Amasawa and Takuya Yagami, both of whom weren't able to replicate the results that he had performed in the White room. Can punch so hard and fast to the point he can create a shockwave capable of making Nanase's hair fly upwards, Stated he could one shot Shiba, Ayanokouji is vastly superior to Fuka who was mentioned of being able to destroy a chair all by herself by Ayanokouji himself. Speed: At least Subsonic (He almost won a race against Manabu Horikita, who is implied to be the strongest and fastest student at the entire school, if not for the fact that another competitor fell in his lane. Suzune claimed that Ayanokouji was holding back immensely during the race, Blitzed Ichika who can appear as blur to 2 people at once while in a mortal state, Superior to Kazuomi Hosen who can perform this) Lifting Strength: At least Peak human, Possibly Superhuman (Casually has a grip strength of 60.67 kilograms, Stronger than Sudo who has a grip strength of 82.4 kilograms and stronger than Koenji who can grapple with a boar with no issue at all) Striking Strength: At least Street level Durability: At least Street level+ (Can tank a 10 meter fall with no issue at all, can also tank Albert's punches) Stamina: Superhuman (It was noted his stamina and endurance is insane. In the second island exam, he was able to fight against Tsukishiro and Shiba after travelling across the island at high speed while also being starved and dehydrated. The terrain of the island was able to exhaust even those most athletic students in Japan in a few minutes, whilst Ayanokouji was completely fine despite being chased by an entire year of students. Showed no sign of fatigue despite being running on a treadmill for 30 minute straight. He also has a great resistance to pain, as during his encounter with Hosen, he intentionally allowed himself to be stabbed by a knife through his palm, to which he showed no signs of panic or pain and kept his usual poker face. Endured and didn't react to the pain of staying in a highly heated elevator for more than half an hour, despite stating that he was on the brink of death by heatstroke. However, due to his weakness of heat, this feat was only able to be achieved through adrenaline and being completely serious, unlike his usual aloof nature) Range: Standard Melee Range, Extended Melee Range with batons, higher with Stun gun Standard Equipment: None notable Optional Equipment: Baton, Stun Gun, Knife Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius (Manipulated his entrance test scores to get all 50s, and several characters have mentioned that he could have gotten perfect scores if he wanted, and even used formulas and reasoning far beyond the level of the exam, despite the exam being at a University level. Learned the OAA of all students in ANHS in a short time. He seems to be hiding his true abilities for some reason. Ayanokouji was the sole survivor of a special program where people were pushed beyond what an average human should be able to do regarding physical and mental prowess. While participating in this program, he underwent extensive martial arts training being taught by instructors who are masters of their own. In a school full of Japan's brightest young minds, he has successfully manipulated several people to further his personal goals. That which has been described thus far is a mere fraction of his actual capabilities. For instance, Ayanokouji manipulated and planned out Ryuen's actions, thoughts, ideas, and strategies months in advance before ultimately defeating him and completely crushing Class C. He manipulated Sakayanagi into targeting Ichinose with rumours, and rescued Ichinose from this situation to gain her trust, allowing him to control her as a pawn without her even realising, resulting into Ichinose's Class B going down to the bottom ranking, which Ayanokouji later took advantage of by puppeteering a potential rebellion and manipulating the loyal Kanzaki to turn on Ichinose, which would allow him to enforce his ideology and create a puppet state within Class B. This was planned out a year in advance and was perfectly executed, and as a result, allowed him complete control over both Class B and Class D, while still remaining in the shadows. He was able to make a better move than a chess engine on a machine developed by the Japanese government, with the best chess engines being able to play itself 30 million times in a second. Mentioned it himself that with proper analysis, he can visualize the future up till an extent. His knowledge is said to be immeasurable and should be higher than any WR teacher who were experts in their fields. His knowledge is described to be higher than the amount which can be learnt in a lifetime. He also remembers his surroundings and his own hands when he discovered them as a newborn) Standard Tactics: Ayanokouji for the most part likes to avoid fighting.
Feats: White Room fight record: 127 wins - 17 losses at age 4 64 consecutive wins in White room at age 4 Fought hundreds of sparring matches with Shiro by age 9. Defeated all his White Room instructors who were masters in their respective martial arts and were the kind of people who had no qualms about sending women and children to the brink of death. Defeated 6 adult fighters who Ayanokouji said were clearly different from the adults he had seen teaching fighting techniques because their movements weren't fluid, but rough and spirited. These were opponents who were capable of irregular fights in an uphill battle rather than an even playing field, and should be superior to the White Room instructors. Unlike previously, pure physical strength was no match for them. The difference in muscle mass is obvious. They were the kind of guys that, in a head-on fight, you'd have no chance of winning 100 out of 100 times against. 4 years old 4th gens were getting slammed to the ground by instructors, and even a girl got kicked because she couldn't stand up after being slammed, puking and then fainting. Kiyotaka said, for them "it was natural to be thrown, to have difficulty breathing, natural to hurt yourself to the point of sobbing, and thinking about it was a waste". Learned Taylor series mathematics at age 6-7 in the White Room. Viewed as a "Godlike" figure to generations after Gen 4. Instructors purposely fed false information about Kiyotaka to other generations. Rather than giving the other children an impossible dream and feel hopeless because of the extremely wide gap between them and Kiyotaka so they gave weakened info, rather than his true monstrous data. Has perfect memory, still remembers when he first discovered his hands as a baby, instructors themselves also said he has perfect memory. This condition is most likely Hyperthymesia. Trained in the White Room at a human level of 10 which is the highest level of training in the facility and was the only one who completed the beta curriculum which was stated to be in a different dimension compared to the level 10. For reference Generation 5 trained at a 4/5 and Generation 6 trained at level 7/8 and were completely annihilated. Completed the "ß curriculum" which is a curriculum in the white room, it is stated to be a curriculum no human should ever complete, Kiyotaka is a special case in this curriculum since he is taking the curriculum alone and has gathered amazing results after Shiro, the second best, dropped out of their own accord, at the age of 9 Kiyotaka was left alone and continued to complete assignments with better results than expected. The 5th gen has only completed 4 stages of the curriculum while the 6th generation has completed 5 stages. Held off Manabu Horikita who is a 5th dan in Karate and 4th dan in Aikido. Defeated Ryuen and his gang with little difficulty while still holding back. Took a stab to the hand from Hōsen without reacting to use against him for manipulation. Rightfully beat Sakayanagi in a mental head to head and predicted all her moves, but was sabotaged by Tsukishiro. In a game of chess, Tsukishiro noticed that even the personnel he hired weren't as good as him and made an inferior move despite using chess engines developed by the Japanese government. Outran Manabu Horikita who is the fastest student at ANHS. Defeated Nanase Tsubasa without physically hitting her. Deduced Nagumo's strategy with little fraction of info from Kei Karuizawa. Deduced how Nagumo thinks and operates in just two rounds of Old Maid. Planned Suzune Horikita's plan before she thought of it herself. Knocked out Nagumo with a single punch. Held off Tsukishiro/Shiba who are both White Room agents or instructors. Defeated Tsukishiro, an Assassin that was once hired by a Prime Minister, who he admitted was on his level. Stronger than any professional level fighter. Tsukishiro said "with his achievements and record ,even if he were to put against a professional fighter in a no-holds barred fight, it would be over in an instant - with Ayanokouji's victory" Grasping the S-system with small hints in just wordings and behaviors. Manipulated and collected the "Sudo trial" preventing his expulsion. Manipulated a late victory over Class C who had help from Class A by predicting the course of island exam. Made Class D expel Sakura which turned the whole classroom's general consensus and changed the atmosphere completely.

Despite her academic ability, she was placed in D-Class due to her inability to work with others. Nevertheless, she strives for A-Class and will do anything to reach that goal.
"If I can't do something, I'll be holding Class D back... I, who looked down my nose at the others and called them worthless... When it comes down to it, not only I am useless, I'm resolving things with violence. It's utterly absurd..." - Suzune's monologue while fighting Mio, Episode 11
Suzune has long black hair with one braid tied with a pink bow as well as gradient red eyes. She is always seen with a stern look on her face. She has a slim but well-endowed body which makes her stand out as being beautiful, even attracting the attention of Ken Sudo and Kakeru Ryuen. She usually wears the standard school uniform. Outside of school, she wears a striped sundress and a sun hat. She was also seen wearing a white bikini by the pool and a red tracksuit as seen when the first-year level underwent the survival test.
Suzune is a serious, intelligent girl who rarely displays any emotion and generally seems unfazed by most things, as proven when she remained unmoved after being threatened by a boy from Class 1-C. She comes off as a rather cold and distant person to her classmates due to the lack of communication with them as well as her tendency to distance herself and look down on them. Because of this attitude, she is openly honest about many things, which is shown when she admitted having no friends as she thinks that friends would only drag her down, but this began to change. Suzune possesses an antisocial outlook, which has led her to hardly talk to anyone except Kiyotaka Ayanokouji upon meeting him and to not trust anyone, especially those who tried to befriend her such as Kikyo Kushida. However, unlike Kiyotaka who initially wanted to make friends, she was the opposite of him as she disregarded it, thinking that it was nothing more than a distraction and only thought of getting promoted to the Class A. It is strongly suggested by Kiyotaka and her brother that her attitude and inability to work appropriately with people or her tendencies on focusing too much on her goal was the reason she was placed in Class D. Suzune is a hard person to convince, as she refused to accept that she was placed in Class D and set a goal to ascend to a higher class, despite it being a unrealistic goal that had never happened in the history of the school. This goal, however, was refuted by her brother, who told her that she has no knowledge of her lack of character, which is substantially holding her back and should just leave the school. She refused to believe that friends were needed to help her though she did convince Kiyotaka to assist in reaching her goal. When Kiyotaka pointed out that her isolation towards others could be why she was placed in Class D, she quickly denied it but appeared to briefly ponder it being a possibility. While she is generally composed, her fear truly surfaces when she is in the presence of her older brother, who is also the student council president. Suzune does indeed express a sensitive side of sorts towards some issues. She greatly admires her brother, but at the same time, feels inferior to him due to his accomplishments compared to her shortcomings. Suzune would shake in fear of him. Despite her disdain and cold attitude, it appears she can be a caring person as displayed. Due to the time they spent together, she came to trust Kiyotaka.
Since grade school, Suzune always has top grades in class and being a paragon student. She was never tardy or absent from class during her three years of middle school and was said to have gone to the same middle school as Kikyo Kushida. Her goal is to get her brother's (Manabu Horikita's) recognition and acknowledgement of her abilities which was the primary factor that led her to enrol in the same school as him. However, after being sorted into the "worst" class which is D, she was shunned and humiliated by him which strengthened her resolve to overtake the highest Class, Class-A. That aside, Suzune is an accomplished student, both in academics and sports, comparable to the likes of those in higher classes. However her main Achilles' Heel was her anti-social attitude and beliefs that others were holding her back. This supercilious attitude that patronises other has prevented her peers from getting close to her and even harbour disdain towards her. This led her to be a loner for the next nine years, never seeing the error of her ways and repenting. That is before she attended high school, where she made some valuable "acquaintances" and "allies." but blatantly never considered any of them as friends except for one.
Suzune has proven to be gifted with superior overall abilities as she excels in both academics and physical fields. Suzune is very dedicated and diligent in her studies, having nothing else to do. This is further proven in her undying commitment in reaching Class A, which she believes that she should've been placed into from the start because of her good grades and hoping that her brother would finally pay attention to her.
Unsurprisingly, Suzune is very intelligent and consistently maintains good grades throughout her journey in school. She got the third-highest average score out of the first years in the entrance exams. She is also noted by Honami Ichinose, a student from Class B, to be one of the few people in Class D to keep an eye on due to her potential. However, her condescending attitude and weakness makes her easily susceptible to the attacks of other classes, and was only saved by Kiyotaka who intervened on her behalf many times before she was defeated. She still doesn’t believe in the purpose of fostering good relationship and only does so to further her goals. She also has an analytical side to her, as shown when she studies people by their habits or fragments of their personality to see their true depths. For instance, she deduced that Kiyotaka Ayanokouji had a hand in helping their class pass their tests and how Kikyo Kushida appears to vehemently dislike her, despite having a 'friendly' persona to everyone. She was also able to see how Kiyotaka hides his true talents after hearing her brother Manabu Horikita and their teacher explain that there is more to him than he lets on. She admits that she is nowhere the the league of Kiyotaka in this department after being defeated by him time and time again and always seek his perspicacious insights whenever trouble arises. She is mature enough to understand why Kiyotaka doesn’t want to show his true capabilities and allows him to use her as a meat-shield for his accomplishments to build up her own reputation in the class.
Suzune is an above-average swimmer. she is skilled in martial arts. She proves herself skilled in the art of grappling as she easily flipped Haruki Yamauchi with no difficulty. She may be an accomplished fighter but is nowhere near the best.
As Class D is a class for people with defective traits, Suzune's defective trait is her antisocial behavior and refusal to work with others.

Gender: Female Age: 16 Birthday: January 23 Height: 155 cm
"I'm living as my ideal self. I always knew I was blessed even when compared to my peers. I have a good memory and so I excelled in academics. I'm also good at sports. I'm also confident when it comes to socializing. I'm also a very flexible person and I can adapt to almost any situation. So. "Am I a perfect human being?" If you ask me that, the answer would be 'no'."
Kikyō Kushida is a student of Class 1-D. She is quite popular in her class as well as the whole school as she aims to befriend everyone.
Kikyo is a teenage girl who is considered highly attractive by the boys in her class and other boys in the school where her trademark is her short beige-colored hair paired with gradient crimson eyes and she is noted for having a well-endowed figure and an average height. When she is outside school, she wears a light blue dress with hints of white and has a teal-colored jacket covering it.
Kikyo boasts tremendous popularity among students as the D-Class' idol who aims to be friends with everyone not just in D-Class, as shown when she extended her hand to Honami Ichinose of B-Class. On the outside, she has a bubbly personality. She attempts to get along well with Suzune Horikita (Kikyo classmate), but the latter coldly refuses her gestures of friendship numerous times. It is revealed that she also has a rancorous side to her personality which she hides from everyone behind her bubbly façade. She is also very spoiled, as indicated by her tendency to resort to temper tantrums if she doesn't get what she truly wants the most: clout and recognition. Thus, she hates everyone who even minutely opposes that goal. She openly professed her hatred for Suzune and cursed her repeatedly, which Kiyotaka Ayanokouji unintentionally overheard. After she caught him watching her tantrum, she threatened him not to tell anyone about it, otherwise she would accuse him of sexual assault after purposely grabbing his hand and putting them on her chest to leave fingerprints as false evidence. She also felt no hesitation or uneasiness when she placed his hand on her own breast as evidence of her accusation. She returned to her bubbly self immediately after he promised he'd keep her secret, which left him to question over which personality she displayed was real. Despite her strong disdain for Suzune, she still attempts to befriend her so as to achieve her goal. Although she blackmailed Kiyotaka to keep her secret, she still interacts with him openly after the ordeal. Nevertheless, the latter now treats her with the upmost of caution and suspicion due to her two-faced personality. Her dislike for Suzune is due to the latter not having a hidden side unlike herself. Her façade is praiseworthy as she has been able to dupe the majority of her peers into thinking that she was a bubbling and solicitous individual, however, keen observers like Airi Sakura and Ichika Amasawa have been able to deduce that there was something more mysterious, perhaps even sinister, to her than she lets on. She loves when people around trust her to the point of telling her personal things, and if it's a secret that no one else knows expect herself even better, because that means she is in a special spot on each people's life and brings her thrill and an unexplained joy that turns her on. She is also cold and vindictive when she loses the attention and trust they had given to her previously. In middle-school, the incident that made a whole classroom fight each other was a response of Kikyo in which she revealed the most deep and personal secrets that she hadn't post on her blog. To fullfil her goal she is capable of double-crossing people, even selling her entire class as long as it benefits her. Sometimes she acts more out of resentment or spite instead of reaching her goal. Her personality was clearly demonstrated. She always prepares a to-do-list even when hanging out with her group of 'friends'. After confirming the participants, she will prepare possible courses of action, conversation topics, phrasing, and a-must say sentence beforehand so as to not leave any weaknesses for them to exploit or hold against her. With this, she believes that no weaknesses will accidentally slip out. Additionally, she felt that others won’t have the chance to gossip behind her back and ruin her good girl image especially after she went to extensive lengths to preserve it. Her behavior hints that she merely sees everyone as a way to boost her reputation and chooses to hide it to avoid losing support. In the end, she sees everyone as a means to an end and doesn’t see them as anything more. The reason behind her actions is because of jealousy, especially when it comes to studies and sports. Due to this overly competitive spirit, she is considered a hard worker by Suzune. There is nothing too low that she wouldn’t do in order to be the best.
Kikyo is slightly above the average in the academic field and was able to manipulate many students in her school into believing she was a benevolent presence. She also exudes one of the highest social contribution scores, showing that despite her surreptitious spiteful personality, she was able to trick the school into believing that her contributions were from charitable desires and not self-centred ones.
As D-Class is for those with defective traits, Kikyo's defect is a certain incident of her past.

Tomonari Mashima is an English teacher and the homeroom teacher of Class 1-A. Tomonari is a tall adult male with brown hair and green eyes. His normal outfit consists of a black blazer with a dress shirt underneath, black pants, and a tie.
Tomonari is a man who takes his job seriously. He is the English homeroom teacher of Class A, and is well respected by his students. He is a man who sticks to his morals without compromise and is dedicated to helping students. He was angry when he heard from Kiyotaka that Tsukishiro was responsible for Suspension of Chairman Sakayanagi, already having opposed the new Chairman due to conflicts within ideals that he was willing to stand up for. He is one of the few teachers who was willing to take a stand against Tsukishiro as well, even before Kiyotaka had confronted Sae and him, showing that he is a very virtuous person.
Some years ago, Tomonari attended Advanced Nurturing High School. He was in the same school year as Sae Chabashira and Chie Hoshinomiya, but he was not in the same class as the two.
Once he chose the path of becoming a teacher similarly as his fellow peers, they became friends. According to what Chie said in a drunken state one night, he is her best friend. It is unknown whether this was simply due to the alcohol or whether it's her true feelings on the matter.
Plot: During the Island Special Exam, Tomonari explained the rules of the exam and subsequently announced the final point totals.
In the following week after the Island Special Exam had ended, he explained the contents of the Zodiac Special Exam to Kiyotaka Ayanōkoji, Kei Karuizawa, Teruhiko Yukimura, and Hideo Sotomura. While on the cruise, he met up with Sae and Chie to chat for a bit during their time off, but Kiyotaka ended up overhearing their conversation. Both Tomonari and Chie were suspicious of Sae's involvements with Kiyotaka, but he soon warned Chie that he wished for his colleagues to protect their morals in order to avoid reporting on a colleague's failure.

Kazuma Sakagami is the homeroom teacher of class 1-C. Kazuma is a middle aged man of average height with grayish color hair.
He wears a gray suit and glasses.
Not much is known about Kazuma, but he appears to be a teacher that overstates the traditional boundaries of an educator as seen when he helped his students in trying to get Ken Sudō expelled. He has somewhat of an aggressive side to him, as he intimidated a nervous Airi Sakura after she was called in to provide evidence, though he was shocked to see she had actual proof of being at the fight, so he could also just be protective.
Plot: Kazuma makes his appearance known during the trial against Ken Sudō, where he proposes a compromise between the two classes.
Later, Kazuma serves as the facilitator of the Event Selection Exam for the battle between Class A and Class D (Class C during the time of the special exam), alongside Chie Hoshinomiya. Due to the latter constantly speaking out of line, Kazuma has to keep reprimanding her.
Kazuma and Chie were both fooled by Kiyotaka and Arisu's selection of words during the start of the first event where they seemed to be at each other's throats. During the Flash Mental Arithmetic event, both facilitators were unable to solve the ninth and tenth problems unlike the two students before them. During the final event, which is chess, Kazuma and Chie were completely taken in by the complex match between Kiyotaka and Arisu. After the special exam was over, Acting Director Tsukishiro came to usher out everyone, including the teachers, to which Kazuma protested that they had cleaning up to do, but Tsukishiro completely dismisses him.

"I had too much to drink last night. Ahh~!" Chie Hoshinomiya is the homeroom teacher of Class 1-B. Chie is a young adult woman of average height with chest-length light-brown hair that is curled at the bottom with bangs hanging on the right side, purple eyes and a slim but well-endowed body.
Some time ago, Chie was attending Advanced Nurturing High School. She became friends with Sae Chabashira.
Chie is a friendly class teacher who also likes drinking as she often appears in school with a hangover.
In spite of her quirks, she appears to be insightful as she recognized the potential of students from class 1-D who could advance such as Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, who she never met (anime only), may present a problem for her class based on what Ichinose told her about him. She has an eye for talent as she has been keeping a close eye on Kiyotaka and know that he is hiding his true capabilities. She is also not afraid of saying her discontent openly and complained that her class situation and their leader is failing the expected standard and admits that they aren’t capable of reaching Class A.
In the manga, she also assumed him to be popular in his class, due to his good looks.
In the light novel, it is revealed that she has a flirty personality, like the type of woman who breaks up when the relationship gets too deep. This disposition was more highlighted when she tried to flirt and tease Kiyotaka Ayanokōji by telling him that she would have fallen for him if he had been in her class.
She has a realistic outlook on life and isn’t afraid to voice her discontent to others. She expresses her disappointment and dissatisfaction with the state of her class and admits to the other teachers that she has no hope in them to reach Class-A. Thus, she said she has given up but made it clear to Sae that she won’t allow her class to reach Class-A as well, due to her personal vendetta she held since they were in school, much to the latter's annoyance.
Plot: During Episode 4, in Class 1-B, Chie is suffering from a hangover and is told by Chihiro Shiranami on how she reeks of booze. She struggles to tell the students the scores of a recent quiz and once they are given out. She runs out of the class to puke after telling them that they will receive their points.
In Episode 8, Chie is getting a massage with Honami Ichinose.

Satsuki Shinohara is one of the students of Class 1-D. Student ID is S01T004742. Satsuki has neck-length blue hair that has a pink hair-clip in the middle and bluish-pink eyes.
She usually wears the female uniform consisting of a long sleeved dark red top with a blue bow at the collar, and a short white skirt with blackish blue trim at the tip.
Satsuki is a friendly girl to those in her peer group but distrustful of those who aren't such as when she immediately singled out the boys as being the prime suspects of Kei Karuizawa's missing underwear. This is also seen in episode 4 when she believes Ken should've been expelled due to the trouble he caused to the class without getting to know the full picture.
In the light novel, she is said by Kanji Ike to have an "ugly" personality, although this was possibly due to the arguments they shared during the island test. She is shown to be hateful toward anyone who talks negatively about her as she told Kanji to go die after overhearing him talk about how ugly she looked.
Despite this, she can be a forgiving person as she thanked him when he came to her defence against a few upperclassmen who assumed she was glaring at them. As gratitude, she even bought him dinner as a token of thanks.

Teruhiko Yukimura, also known as Keisei Yukimura, is a student of Class 1-D. Despite his excellent academic ability, his poor athletic ability and his lack of social skills landed him in the D-Class. In the anime, he is seated in the first place of the fifth row, next to the door.
Teruhiko is a young man of average height with grey hair, red eyes and round glasses.
He is usually seen in the standard school uniform.
Originally, Teruhiko looked down on the rest of the class 1-D and is not athletic at all. Later on, he accepts what he is missing and tries to help two certain students study for a test.
He does not like his first name Teruhiko, given to him by his mother who left their family. He prefers the name his father gave him: Keisei (啓誠, Keisei).
He is rather dull when it comes to romance since he never experienced such a thing. For him, romance is just some "vulgar world things".
He is also seems to be a type of guy that easily loses his temper, such when he met Sakayanagi and declared that his class is going to win, and when he found out about Kiyotaka's true ability with the fact that he's hiding he's true ability.
Teruhiko has been studying from childhood so he didn't have time to make friends. His mother left their family for unknown reasons, which causes him to resent her for leaving the family and him. He does not like his first name Teruhiko, given to him by his mother as she left their family and prefers the name given to him by his father: Keisei (啓誠, Keisei) and asks Ayanokōji Group to use the same.
His historical testimonies include him having no problems in treating the classes seriously. With that matter at hand, it was clear that his academic records are sufficient enough to get him into the school of choice. Although his academic and intellectual skills are on par with those top students among his ranks, he has a tendency to judge people based solely on their academic performances. With this weakness alone, it is expected that he'll strengthen this aspect over the course of his stay in the school.

Yōsuke Hirata is currently a second-year student of Advanced Nurturing High School. At the start of the series, he was introduced as the class representative and a student of Class 1-D, seated on the leftmost seat of the second row, next to Kei Karuizawa. He is considered as one of the top students in his class. He is also a member of the Soccer Club. His excellent grades are worthy of being in an more elite class; however, he ended up in Class D for reasons yet to be explained.
Yōsuke is a young man of average height with blonde hair and brown eyes. He was also described to be handsome by his female classmates.
He is often seen wearing the standard school uniform, but when outside of school he wore a striped shirt when he and Kei Karuizawa ran into Suzune Horikita over summer break.
Yōsuke exudes a very mature and great friendly vibe in the presence of other people and is rarely seen getting mad. He is seen to have a charming and charismatic personality. His warm nature has led to the majority of the class to recognize him as their class representative. He obtained the trust of the class while also attracting the attention of several girls. Most notably Kei Karuizawa, where he accepted a relationship with her to help safeguard her against any sort of bullying that might come to Kei. After she shared her past with him, he empathized and knew that she was afraid of her traumatic experience in middle school recurring once again in high school, and thus, he allowed her to use his reputation as an added precaution against bullies.
Hirata emanates his thoughtfulness personality often. For instance, he covered for Kiyotaka Ayanokōji after he found Karuizawa's underwear on him, believing his explanation of not being the thief as he wouldn't do such a thing, despite not knowing him well or having evidence to prove otherwise.
He displays adequate leadership and diplomatic abilities as shown in the survival test where he managed to get everyone to agree to a consensus after a brief argument over provision and points by voicing his opinion.
Despite all the positive qualities he displays in his class, he can be quite prone to cracking under pressure, as shown when he became horrified after the survival book was burned and was so stunned that he couldn't understand what caused it to happen. He only snapped out of it when he heard Kiyotaka stating that his class was asking for help and needed him to give them orders. He can be extremely naive at times as he was the only one adamantly defending Yamauchi against his other classmates after it was revealed that he betrayed them for Class A and was looking to expel Kiyotaka. He failed to recognise how much influence he truly holds and was vehemently told Horikita that he will give his criticism vote to her under the rationale that she was disrupting their class tranquillity when she unceasingly questioned Yamauchi. Even though Yamauchi was considered the least valuable member of their class and was a traitor, he unpretentiously told the class to cast their criticism vote on him instead which would lead to expulsion despite knowing that the class views him with greater importance. He has went against his class more than once and openly showed his dissatisfaction and anger to his classmates after he couldn’t handle all the anxiety bottled up in himself. On one occasion, Kiyotaka straightforwardly and unabashedly repeated his failures and told him to stop trying to find excuses to run away. This caused him to break down and realise his mistakes while also jokingly refer to Kiyotaka for being mean.
In the light novels and the flashback scene of anime, it is revealed that his personality stems from the guilt of abandoning his childhood friend who suffered from severe bullying without Yōsuke being there. Through this experience, he has tried to solve things using an alternative way rather than fighting even if it's not the best solution. He also knows when to draw the line when helping others such as Kei and will evade confrontation whenever violence seems unavoidable. Yōsuke is also shown to be incredibly perceptive, as he slowly deduced that Kiyotaka was the one orchestrating their class successes and not Suzune Horikita. He has also shown no interest in women yet and on the topic of romance as a whole. He told Kiyotaka that he genuinely believes that this would continue being the case even as he progress through life.
Yōsuke hasn't been shown to do much in terms of physical strength or brute force, but he has mentioned that he plays every sport imaginable and tried out for the school soccer club.
Yōsuke has demonstrated exceptional grades good enough to put him into the upper classes.
Yōsuke has demonstrated numerous time that he possesses a talent in leading others, becoming one of Class D' central figures and class representative. He further proved this during the midst of the special island survival test. He used sound strategies to rack up as many points as possible for his class, although it was not enough and was outdone by the other classes. They would had lost if it were not for Kiyotaka intervention which shows that he too has limits to his abilities. He has shown that when things go wrong, he is not above cracking under pressure, but can quickly recover when people assure him that he needs to be calm and collected.
For the 2nd Year arc, when asked about his aspirations for the next year, he answered 'I want to be the kind of person who can help my friends regarding their troubles and properly support and help them'

Hideo Sotomura is one of the students of Class 1-D who is seated in the leftmost seat in the third row behind Yōsuke Hirata. Hideo is a teenage boy of average height with green eyes and spiky black hair. He also wears glasses. He is a bit chubby according to Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, and is often seen wearing the school uniform, but wore a brown trench coat when supervising Argos Team's operation of spying on the girls' changing room.
Like every other first year, he wore the red tracksuit during the island test.
Hideo seems to blend in the background quite a bit, as he is neglected from the main events that seem to happen in Class 1-D. However, he does seem to capitalise on the opportunity, seeing the sense in helping out Argos team in their mission.
Hideo is an otaku in nature and is often heard using archaic Japanese to speak to his classmates. He collects and observes information every day, ranging from an interests of bishōjo game to manga and animation.
He was said to have a "ridiculous" dialect by the Zazen instructor in the Mixed Training Camp special exam, leading to him changing it to be acceptable by the society.
Plot: Hideo presumably passed the entrance exams and was present with the other first years during the entrance ceremony speech given by Manabu Horikita. He received 100,000 points like the rest of the class and seemed to be part of the few that still saved quite a bit, as Haruki Yamauchi tried to sell him a game console for 20,000 points after Sae Chabashira provided further information about the points system after the class failed to receive any points after the first month.
In the light novels, when Ken Sudō was facing expulsion, Kiyotaka Ayanokōji had asked Hideo for help about general information of electronic devices provided that he's an "otaku" who knows a lot of particulars about the matter. This help also extended in setting up certain devices, to which Hideo claimed afterwards that he might need Kiyotaka's help in the future. Whereas in the anime, Kiyotaka had worked alone with help from Honami Ichinose.
Hideo heading the Argos operation.
Hideo was next seen heading the Argos operation where he overlooks the area, provide Intel and he commands to the Argos team members: Ken, Haruki, Kanji Ike, Kiyotaka.
He started issuing orders for Haruki to plant the cameras, but after being signaled by Kanji to abort because of Kikyō Kushida's suspicion, ordered Haruki to abort and evacuate the mission area. He then proceeded to organise Kanji Ike into position to continue off where Haruki left off, but when a situation developed where Kakeru Ryūen, Ken and Manabu started a scene outside the girls' toilets, started comforting a panicked Kanji, telling him to hold on while he sorted something out. Hideo followed on using semaphore flags to signal Kiyotaka to stage a distraction to get Kanji out, in which he delegated the task to Suzune Horikita, who gave a speech on top of the diving boards, which successfully distracted everyone long enough for Kanji to escape the toilets.
Like the other first years, he took part in the special island survival examination. At the end of the survival test, Hideo, like the other members of Class D, was surprised at their victory, scoring the highest amount of points out of all the classes.
In the Volume 4 Cruise Ship Special Test, Sotomura was placed in Rabbit Group along with Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, Kei Karuizawa and Keisei Yukimura from Class-D. Their group ended with Possibility #4 that is, the traitor answered incorrectly, leading to their class receiving 50 Class Points and the V.I.P. (Karuizawa), 1 million Private Points.
In the Volume 8 special exam "Mixed Training Camp" Sotomura was reprimanded by the instructor for his unconventional dialect, which he used intentionally for no apparent reason, as it would not be well received by the society.
In the Volume 11 special exam, Sotomura was chosen by Kiyotaka Ayanokoji for the 1v1 Typing event, in which he defeated his opponent Yoshida Kenta from Class A by 90 points against 83.
Hideo seems to possess some smarts about himself as he scored 75 points during the mid-term exams within the school. He is also known to be good with computers and technology, as he can type very fast.
Hideo has somewhat demonstrated that he can lead an operation from the shadows, moving things along during the infiltration of the girls' changing rooms by the 3 Idiots of D-Class and can form plans and backup plans to get things done. He has a knack for calming people down in a tight situation, as shown when he comforted Kanji Ike when he was panicking after being trapped in the change rooms after an incident with Kakeru Ryūen.

"In the end, nothing changed even after I came to this school. No, that's wrong... Maybe I never had any intention of changing. For better or worse, it's always been the same for me. After all, I understand myself better than anyone else."
Kei Karuizawa is one of the heroines of the You-Zitsu series. Currently a second-year student of Advanced Nurturing High School, she is a prominent figure in Class D and is considered to be the girl's leader of the class.
Kei is a teenage girl of average height with waist-length blonde hair that is tied in a ponytail and purple eyes. Her school uniform consists of a light blue dress shirt below the red school blazer with rolled-up sleeves and a short white skirt. She walks in standard school shoes with light blue calf-length socks. She predominantly wears a blue ribbon around her collar. In a more casual situation, she simply wraps her school blazer around her waist and rolls up her dress shirt sleeves above the usual norm. During sports events she wears a white T-shirt, red sweat pants with a white stripe and white trainers.
At the start of the series, Kei comes across as a sloppy and spoiled girl who only cares about herself. She spends most of her time with the girls after school and uses her points to buy clothes and accessories. She is admired and feared throughout the class for her strong personality and her status as Yōsuke Hirata's girlfriend after only two weeks of entering the school, therefore establishing her position as the girl's leader of Class D. However, despite her looks and attitude she displays, she has her fair share of secrets that she cannot afford to reveal to others. She was unabashed and unashamed by the comments made by other people for describing her audacious moves on boys that caught her eye.
Underneath her pompous mask that she wears in front of people, Kei is a girl tormented by the ghosts of her past who can be weak and sensitive towards her surroundings. Even though she gives off the impression of someone who is careless, arrogant, and messy, Kei's true self is very logical and astute with a sharp mind. She has remarkable ability to read the environment and the people around her, and makes the correct decision often. She is a self-aware person who knows better than anyone her own character and limitations. She also seems to have developed a cynical view of her surroundings and relationships. She believes everyone hates her and only took an interest in her due to the position and status she has in the class, making her very wary about her actions towards her friends to remain in their good graces.
When interacting with someone she trusts, Kei is a straightforward and outspoken person. This is seen in her interactions with Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, as she has expressed many dissatisfactions with him during their time working together. She also often calls out his lack of common sense regarding ordinary matters such as maintaining conversations during the series, and is the only person thus far who is actively trying to improve his bad habits.
In a school that is anything but ordinary, Kei tries to live in the most ordinary way possible and spends most of her time having fun with her friends. She is very connected to fashion and fancy things, which contributes to her having an extravagant and lavish lifestyle causing her to spend money irresponsibly.
That said, she had gotten past this mindset and was shown to saved a great deal points just so she could save herself from expulsion if it ever came down to it. So far, she’s not shown much interest in academics or a great desire to reach a higher class. She often leaves to study for exams at the last minute and is not fond of studying in general. Her dislike for studying is mainly due to the lack of chances she had to attend her classes consistently during middle school due to her past. Kei entered the high school without much of the theoretical grade of middle school, which made her experience studying in high school not very pleasant. However, if her friends ever request her assistance or she was ordered by Kiyotaka to do something, she spares no expense and goes out of her way to achieve better result than expected of her.
Even despite having a 'boyfriend' in Hirata, she still beguiles and leads boys on through her seductive words and actions, which makes people look down on her for her lack of devotion to the opposite sex. Once she broke up with Hirata and started a genuine relationship with Kiyotaka, this playgirl attitude never came up again as she found a stable pillar of support and no longer required to resort to underhanded tactics. She treasures personal security as the only reason she had a 'relationship' with Hirata and adopted a flirtatious attitude with high profiled boys was so that she would never be bullied again.
She was afraid of breaking up with Hirata as that would had left her vulnerable to attacks, however, she was also not looking forward to another relationship due to her lingering feelings for Kiyotaka. After Kiyotaka accepted all of her darkest secrets, embraced her intimately and did not scorn her for it, Kei was assured and hugged him back, glad that he also felt the affection for her.
Background: During her time in middle school, Kei was known to always be the headstrong and competitive type, unwittingly causing her to make enemies out of similar girls and becoming the target of severe and cruel bullying by their hands. They scribbled on her textbooks and stole her notes. They dumped dirty water on her while she used the toilet. They punched and kicked her and filmed it so they could spread it around the class for laughs. They put thumbtacks in her shoes and animal corpses on her desk. They even once pulled her skirt down in front of the class. After swimming class, they'd hide her underwear and sometimes even her entire uniform. They also made her confess to boys she doesn’t even like. They'd make her pick up garbage that was on the ground with her mouth and eat it and she was even forced to lick shoes.
Kei endured humiliation, after humiliation, and even worse accumulating experiences resulting in a very deep physical scar and the destruction of her sense of self and personality, which led to her developing Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Kei ran into this school searching for salvation and acted arrogantly to make herself look big and strong, trying to act tough so that she wouldn't be bullied again.
Due to her trauma, Kei developed a very twisted mindset based purely on the urge to protect herself from any kind of abuse or intimidation, no matter what kind of method she needed to use or the sacrifices she needed to make. The best example of this is when Ayanokouji Kiyotaka confronted her about her past and tried to blackmail her. She went as far as to offer up her body as per his request to protect her secret and place in the school. She revealed that it wasn't the first time someone had used force against her. She could cry, scream, or thrash around, but it didn't matter. She was everyone's victim, which caused her to become cold and robotic. But even though she had suffered so much, she was ready to fight again and wouldn’t give up without one.

No matter how much people hate me, it'll be better than suffering like that again. The most important thing is protecting myself." "Well, whatever. It's not like this is the first time someone's used force against me. After a while, I gave up trying to resist. That's right; I was everyone's victim. I became cold, robotic. I could cry, scream, or thrash around, but it didn't matter. So, why aren't you laughing? Why don't you laugh at the pitiful loser who's been bullied all her life?" "I'm grateful to the people who bullied me, and the school that covered it up, No one here knows about my past. That's why I was able to become a new me." "It’s just... I don’t really like bringing up my past. I thought I’d never tell anyone about it. But I ended up telling you, and it felt so surprisingly fine that it’s kind of odd..." "Aaaaaaaaaaaaa, mou, aaaaaaaaaa! Inside my heart there was another me who was squealing while running around. There's no more mistaking it. I just have to admit it now. Chiaki Matsushita is one of the students of Class 1-D. Chiaki is a teenage girl of average height with long brown hair that has bangs swept to the right and blue eyes. She was called cute by Satsuki Shinohara.
Chiaki's personality is not explored in depth but from what is gathered throughout the Light Novel, she has a quiet and older sister type of personality. She is generally kind to all the boys and girls alike, but she does not actively go out to make friends.
According to Chiaki, she was born and raised in a moderately wealthy family where she was brought up in a kind and free environment. She would achieve outstanding results in school and in return her parents would get her whatever she desired.
Plot: Chiaki has a feeble presence in the Light Novels. She was first seen in Volume 1, talking with Kikyō Kushida and some other girls. According to Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, she and Nene Mori always hung around Kei Karuizawa.
In the Cruise Ship Special Test, she was placed in the Cow group, along with Airi Sakura, Ken Sudō and Kanji Ike from Class 1-D. The exam ended for her group on Day 3, with an unknown traitor from Class 1-C guessing the VIP wrong
She was seen walking together with Satsuki Shinohara and Maya Satō, her classmates and friends from Class 1-D, on the 23rd of December. They were talking about how they had not managed to get themselves a boyfriend before Christmas, and Chiaki asked Satsuki if she had a boy in mind, which was replied with a statement that the boys in their class were "catastrophic", and that the best boy had already been "stolen" by Kei- Yōsuke Hirata. Chiaki says that it would be better for them to go out with a senior rather than someone in their year, since all the boys in their year were very immature, but Satsuki replies that she would prefer to date an older student than her. They were just going to talk about Maya's relation with Kiyotaka, when they got out of earshot range.
During the Event Selection Exam, Chiaki was chosen by Kiyotaka, the commander, to participate in the Flash Mental Arithmetic event proposed by Class-A, along with Rokusuke Kōenji, and had her wear the commander intervention headset. According to Kiyotaka, she had answered every question correctly till the sixth one, after which she was barely able to keep up with the numbers being projected, and was unable to answer correctly. The difficulty level of the questions was termed "impossible" by even Chie Hoshinomiya, Class-B homeroom teacher. After the tenth question had been displayed, Chiaki, along with the other participants, save for Rokusuke, had not even managed to pick up their pens before it finished. Kiyotaka provided her with the correct answer to the question-7619, using the commander's intervention, and she wrote it down. Even though she gave the event her all, Chiaki lost to Kōhei Katsuragi, who had correctly answered 8 out of the ten questions.
Chiaki had believed from early on in the first year that Class D had no hopes of ever reaching Class A and thus resigned herself to a carefree school life, never putting in any real effort into her academics. She considers herself to be a major underachiever, believing that she could easily score in the top 10% of her class if she truly tried to, but believed it to be pointless as long as she was in Class D. Later on in the light novels, she starts seeing improvements in the class and becomes willing to start contributing to the class. She is also known to be skilled at mental arithmetic and can calculate quickly
As Class D is for those with flaws, Chiaki's flaw is her distant behavior. For the 2nd Year arc, when asked about her aspirations for the next year, Chiaki answered 'Just like how I’ve been doing it until now. Playing with friends, putting just enough effort into studying. But that depends on the situation. I'll do what I have to do I guess.'

Rokusuke Kōenji is one of the students of Class 1-D who comes from a well-known family of scholars. However, he ended up in Class-D for his egotistical behavior.
"Ah, I am so beautiful and melding with the exquisite environment around me enhances my stellar looks. I am the pinnacle of beauty."
Rokusuke is a tall and well-built young man with straight shoulder-length blonde hair and maroon-gradient eyes.
He is often seen wearing the standard school uniform.
Rokusuke comes across as arrogant, self-entitled, and overconfident, no doubt due to his family's wealthy status and pedigree. When he was first introduced, he speaks to Kikyō Kushida with a contemptuous and sarcastic gentleman-like way of speaking while refusing to move from his position even though there was an elderly lady in need of a seat.
Rokusuke's egotistical and pompous nature and his inability to work with others can be a foil as it is what landed him in D-Class in the first place but he appears to not pay it any mind. He looks down on his classmates as shown when he taunted Ken Sudō about his imminent possible expulsion after his fight with C-Class. His self-inflated view of himself was further shown when on the cruise, he repeatedly complimented his looks in a mirror and when he refused to dry himself since it was menial work unworthy of him, causing onlookers to scorn at his blatant narcissism.
Unsurprisingly, Rokusuke has a self-serving and vainglorious nature as he later abandoned his class during the survival test so that he would not have to participate in it which caused the class to lose points. He showed no remorse in and after the act, revealing how selfish he can truly be at times. In some aspects, he is quite similar if not worse than Kiyotaka, where he doesn’t like to be disturbed and treasure his own personal time. He also couldn’t care less of what others thinks of him nor does he care what happens to them as long as nothing happens to him.
Unlike the other students in his class, he does not worry himself about earning points as his family can simply buy them for him.
Rokusuke's personality and abilities allows him to be completely unaffected by any sort of attack or threat as he just laughs it off or turns the tables around on his attackers.
Rokusuke has a habit of nicknaming others like: Kikyō Kushida - Pretty Girl Kiyotaka Ayanokōji - Elevator Boy Ken Sudō - Red Hair Arisu Sakayanagi - Little Girl Kakeru Ryūen - Dragon Boy and Mr. Naughty
Plot:
In Episode 1, he is first introduced on the bus, where he speaks to Kikyō Kushida. Here he refuses to move from his position even though there was an elderly lady in need of a seat. Eventually another person volunteers their seat.
Rokusuke volunteered to join Yōsuke Hirata's plan to explore. He passed through the forest by doing an acrobatic-movement along the trees, outpacing Kiyotaka Ayanokōji and Airi Sakura enough to vanish from sight range. He then dropped out of the camp by swimming and escaping to a nearby ship, causing a loss of 30 S-points to D-Class. At night, he complimented the beauty of the moon, while on the island his classmates were upset.
After the class returns from the island, Rokusuke compliments them on coming back victorious once they uncovered all the class leaders. Ken confronts him on ditching them, as he laughs this and defends his act by stating he was ill and needed to recover, while the class were not convinced.
Rokusuke's plan for getting into Class A revolved around having third year students give him their private points, in exchange for monetary reinbursements by his family once they graduated. Since Kōenji was listed as the future president of his family's company, many students seem to have agreed to this deal. This strategy is, however, in jeopardy since Miyabi Nagumo figured out his strategy by observing Kōenji and is now going to introduce school rules that will prevent the implementation of such a strategy.
Rokusuke is adept in his academics as he was able to score a passing grade on the mid-term. He was one of the few people who didn't take and memorize the old test answers from Kikyō Kushida. According to Honami Ichinose, the leader of Class B, Rokusuke is one of the few students in Class D that should be watched out for, implying that he could be somewhat of a threat even to those of the advanced classes. However, his poor character is an impediment for his class, limiting his chances of demonstrating his true capabilities.
In the light novels, Rokusuke is shown to possess great observation skills. In Volume 4, During the Cruise Ship Special Test, Rokusuke, without much effort, correctly guessed the 'VIP' of his group (Monkey), in less than a day.
Rokusuke is shown to have great intuition as he was immediately able to deduce that Kiyotaka Ayanokōji was the 'X' person that is rumored to rule D Class from behind the scenes. This was deduced just after Ayanokōji gripped his arm. This is especially notable as the entire C-class was apalled by such a notion and found it unbelievable before Kiyotaka showed his true abilities.
As seen in Rokusuke's physique, he is very athletic as it was shown in the first volume of the light novel, that he's the fastest swimmer in his class, with a speed of 2.153 meters/second, which is considered to be on the tier of the World's best swimmers needing the amalgamation of techniques, precision and considerable strength. After taunting Ken Sudō and almost getting into a brawl, Kiyotaka Ayanokōji remarked that if Ken had attacked him, Rokusuke would have retaliated and defended himself, hinting that he is a more than the average fighter but that has yet to be seen.
He has great speed and acrobatic skills as shown when he went ahead of his class in the forest by jumping from tree to tree in the survival test.
In volume 5, Kōenji easily blocked Ken's punch with just the palm of his hand. According to Kiyotaka, who witnessed the entire scene play out, Sudō wasn't holding back in his attack. However, Rokusuke was still able to effortlessly block a punch from a relatively strong opponent. He also has good reflexes, easily preventing Hirata from grabbing his collar by stopping his arm.
As D-Class is a class for people with defective traits, Rokusuke has an egotistical nature and his inability to work with others. For the 2nd Year arc, when asked about his aspirations for the next year, he answered 'Aspirations? I have nothing of that sort. I just want to be myself and continue to spend my days of FREEDOM.'

Miyabi Nagumo is a student of 2-B when Class D is still in its first year, while 3-A when Class D reaches its second year. He will serve as the Student Council President, succeeding Manabu Horikita.
Nagumo is a tall, fair-skinned teenager with light blond hair and light blue eyes. Kei Karuizawa says that he doesn’t lack in the looks department.
Nagumo is a leader who likes to rule through an iron-fist, and is kind of a man who would expel anyone who tries to oppose him. Manabu Horikita suspects him for expelling 7 out of 12 students from the second year that had Nagumo involved in one way or another. He considers Manabu as his rival and keeps on challenging him, also trying to prove that he is better than Manabu.
When Manabu graduates, he now targets his little sister and takes joy in the fact that she is somewhat now directly under his control after she joined the student council.
It is later revealed by Ikuto Kiriyama that Nagumo promised the second year students reforms where ones who surpasses the boundaries between classes and are capable of making allies from different classes will be pulled up to A-Class. He believes in the ideology of winning the war at the expense of a battle as he lost to Manabu but was also able to drive Akane Tachibana to the point of expulsion.
He is shown to be quite persuasive as he got Honami Ichinose to give up her secret to him without much interaction between them beforehand. Although, this is also due to her gullible and credulous nature. He is also extremely narcissistic, but not to the point of Rokusuke Kōenji. He also likes to make those around him into his "toys", showing his deprave mindset. He is also not afraid to hurt his "toys" or sacrifice them for himself and his benefits such as when he gave Ichinose's secret to Arisu Sakayanagi. He can be livid when things doesn’t go his way such as when Kiyotaka Ayanokōji intervened during his plan to force Honami to become his girlfriend, only to have her saved by Kiyotaka instead.
He is also seen to be attracted to hot girls such as Honami Ichinose and Suzune Horikita and tries to charm them whenever he has the chance. He purposely refers to them by their first name after brief interactions and will take whatever chances to get close to them. For instance, he attempted to force Honami to rely only on him by entering a relationship with him as well as prolonging a hand shake with Suzune and looking at her tantalisingly. He has a reputation and aura of being a womaniser amongst the student body but despite that, some still views him in a good light.
Nagumo also has a tendency to be overconfident at times as shown in the Uninhabited Island Exam where he approached Kiyotaka Ayanokōji without any of his backup Free Groups in I2. Despite this, he is also shown to be calm and calculative as shown in the Mixed Training Camp where he conducted his plan without displaying arrogance nor confidence unlike his latter confrontation with Kiyotaka.
Plot: In Volume 8, Nagumo made a bet with Manabu Horikita. He eventually lost their bet but successfully drove Akane Tachibana to expulsion (which was later negated) with the assistance of Momoko Ikari.
In Volume 10, Nagumo tried to make a deal with Honami Ichinose to provide her with 4,043,019 private points. In exchange, Ichinose would have to date Nagumo. It was originally done to make sure Ichinose had enough points (20,000,000) so that she would not have to sacrifice a person to be expelled in The Class Poll special exam. However, this was thwarted by Kiyotaka Ayanokoji who came up with a substitute dealer in place of Nagumo.
In Volume 1 of Second Year Arc, as said by Takuya Yagami, Nagumo was present in the creation of the bounty made by Acting Director Tsukishiro on providing 20,000,000 private points to the 1st year student who would be able to expel Kiyotaka Ayanokoji before the second semester.
In Volume 2 of Second Year Arc, Nagumo tried to make Fūka Kiryūin his ally but the latter rejected it.
Nagumo was able to detect the lack of a "chosen" leader in Kiyotaka Ayanokōji's group during the Mixed Training Camp and he also has an eye for the very "beautiful". At school, he was able to gain control of all the classes in his year, and get onto the Student Council which was picky on who may enter. He also got Honami Ichinose to confess to him her past to him, although that was due to the latter having a gullible and credulous personality. He was manipulative enough to exploit this Achilles heel of hers and could have succeeded in his endeavour to make her into his girlfriend if it were not for the intervention of Kiyotaka. Another one of Nagumo's traits is his strong hold on the 3rd Year Classes which prevents them from rebelling against him. This allows Nagumo to have more resources, be it private points or students from his year, during exams and anything else he needs to accomplish.
For the 2nd Year arc, when asked about his aspirations for the next year, he answered 'That's obvious, isn't it? To stir and enliven the school. To open the door to an order of meritocracy that has never been seen.'

Haruki Yamauchi is a student of Class 1-D in Advanced Nurturing High School, he is also known as part of the 3 Idiots of D-Class. Haruki is a young man of average height with short brown hair and red eyes.
He is often seen wearing the standard school uniform.
According to the interviewer who assessed him during the entrance examination, Haruki has a tendency to lie.
Similar to his friends, Haruki has a perverted side who is attracted to Kikyō Kushida as he was willing and wanted to peep on the girls. He is also very attracted to Airi Sakura and Haruka Hasebe, mainly for their well-endowed bodies and seemingly submissive nature.
During the island test, while he was picking up branches, he told Kiyotaka Ayanokōji that he was pursuing Airi, because of Kikyō being out of his league, and claimed that Airi would fall for him if he began behaving nicely.
Despite his negative traits, he was, although rarely, able to act somewhat maturely as shown after being rejected in Volume 4.5.
After becoming Arisu Sakayanagi's spy, Haruki became extremely self-centered and condescending to his classmates, openly declaring himself the class's lethal weapon and looking down on everyone. After defamatory rumors were made about his class, Haruki took pleasure in tormenting those who were targeted by the rumors, much to the disgust of even his closest friends, Ken and Kanji.
In Volume 10, Haruki was shown to be an easily manipulated person, as he got deceived by Arisu, who ordered him to be a traitor within his class and ‘promised’ to be his girlfriend in exchange for manipulating his classmates into getting Kiyotaka expelled during The Class Poll. He went on to gloat to his classmates that he was under Class A's protection and that there was zero chance of him being expelled. After getting expelled, he further humiliated himself by lashing out against the class and even went as far as to physically attack them before he was apprehended, ultimately proving himself to be nothing more than a pathetic shameless defective.
Plot: In Volume 4.5, Haruki made a confession to Airi Sakura but was quickly rejected. Accepting her answer, he told Kiyotaka that he was just troubling her and learned that conveying one's feelings also carries a heavy responsibility to it. He also noted that his feelings for Airi were just shallow, and he didn't really like her from the bottom of his heart due to the little reaction it got from him after being rejected. After that, Haruki claimed he was graduating from this random love and would find a girl that he could really come to like.
In Volume 10, Haruki got more than half the class's support to vote against Kiyotaka in the special exam, The Class Poll, under instructions from Arisu Sakayanagi of Class A in exchange for him getting her Class' praise votes. However, unbeknownst to him, Sakayanagi gave her class' praise votes to Kiyotaka instead, so that she could exact her revenge on Haruki after their encounter in Volume 8 where he had made her fall down on the floor and made a crude remark about her. His potentially inimical actions also got exposed and after getting the most combined amount of criticism votes in the class without having the 20 million points needed to save himself, Haruki became the very first student of his class to receive expulsion from the school.
Even to the end, he selfishly denied any of his wrongdoings and yelled that he was just being framed. He insulted his classmates and told them that Sakayanagi would save him, even after Horikita had exposed him and had the entire class against him. After Sakayanagi's betrayal, he then tries to attack his classmates before being apprehended.
Since Class D is for those with defective traits, Haruki's defect is that he has a tendency to lie: During his introductions in the light novels, he first lied not only about being a table tennis player who had reached the national level, but also being baseball club's ace in middle school whose uniform number is 4. According to him, since he got an injury during the inter-high games recently, he is "currently" in rehab.

Akito Miyake is one of the students of Class 1-D. In middle school, Akito became fond of archery and joined the club there and even participated in country-level competitions. However, he began to neglect other activities or duties, such as studies, in the process.
At that time he started to create some ruckus by causing quarrels with other people. That, and the fact that he neglected his studies, led to his evaluation as a D-Class student.
In high school, he once again became a member of the Archery Club.
Akito has dark colored hair and usually wears the school uniform. He's roughly as tall as Kiyotaka Ayanokōji.
Akito has a straightforward and honest attitude when dealing with other people.
His honest and caring personality is shown again when Akito agrees to accept Kiyotaka easily without having any doubts about him even after his math scores.
Plot: Akito Miyake was first mentioned when Hirata Yōsuke tells Kiyotaka and the others that Miyake had run into some trouble and Hirata was going there to resolve it. Later on, Akito Miyake was shown to have the fourth highest grip strength in Class D although Kōenji didn't participate in it. Akito Miyake was formally introduced in volume 6. When he comes over to Hirata and Horikita to ask for help with his and Haruka Hasebe's studies but Haruka ends up declining to study together with either Hirata or Horikita. But not too soon after Yukimura Teruhiko offers to teach them on the condition that someone else can bring them together.
The one who was elected to manage them was Kiyotaka and after a while they started studying and The Ayanōkouji group was soon formed with the addition of Airi Sakura joining in the group as well. It was also mentioned that Akito Miyake is a member of the archery club. Akito Miyake is shown to have confidence in his physical abilities and can at times be very bold, as seen in Mixed Training Camp when he offers to add Ryūen to join his group on the condition that he will get more of the winning prize if their group wins.
He was also seen on standby when Kanzaki Ryūji was interrogating Masayoshi Hashimoto. The reason being that he could resolve the fight if one breaks out between them, highlighting his confidence in his physical abilities. Again, his honest and caring personality is shown again when Akito agrees to accept Kiyotaka easily without having any doubts about him even after his math scores. Akito Miyake formed a group with Airi and Haruka for the uninhabited island exam. After hearing about the group formed by him from Kiyotaka, Hirata Yosuke mentions that Akito Miyake has good motor skills making his group well balanced.
Due to the neglect of Akito's studies, his academic performance has been subpar. Although he excels in Science and Math, he is quite bad at other subjects such as World History and Language, although it is mentioned that he possesses the ability to study hard enough so that he does not fail in these subjects.
His academic abilities are very similar to that of his friend Haruka Hasebe, to the point that Kiyotaka Ayanokōji stated their answers were so similar some might think only one person had taken both of their exams.
Akito is very skilled at archery that he receives praise from the Archery club itself. Apparently, he has good physical abilities, including a certain prowess at fighting. However, he himself believes them to be below average.
Akito is quick to make sensible decisions as shown when Kanzaki Ryuuji is interrogating Hashimoto Masayoshi in V9,he quickly makes up his mind that he will involve himself only if a fist fight breaks out.
Akito is neither uncooperative nor extremely cooperative since he at most times doesn't take the initiative himself but if it ever becomes necessary he is more than willing to ask for cooperation as shown in V6 when he asks for help regarding his and Haruka Hasabe's studies and in V3 he asks Hirata Yōsuke for help when he gets into some sort of trouble.
As of now, Akito's defective trait is unknown and has yet to appear. (Although it could be speculated that it was his grades from lack of studying that put him in Class D.) Akito had been given counseling in the past due to the multiple instances of causing quarrels. Akito and Kakeru Ryūen attended neighboring middle schools For the 2nd Year arc, When asked about his aspirations for the next year, he answered 'I may sound a bit arrogant, but there's no better thing for me than to protect my close friends.'

Maya Satō is a student of Class 1-D. Maya is a teenage girl of average height with upper-back length brown hair that has bangs hanging on the left side, and blue eyes. She is considered attractive by her male peers who expressed jealousy towards her association with Kiyotaka.
She opted for a laid back, carefree appearance by wearing a thin orange cardigan with the sleeves rolled up, with a loose tie around her neck.
During swimming class, she wore a swimsuit. In the survival test, she wore a tracksuit.
The depths of Maya's character haven't been fully explored, but she appears to be a friendly and cooperative person as she was willing to participate in the class introduction. She is considered to be one of the Class leaders for the girls after Kei Karuizawa due to her influence and popularity in Class D. Because of that, she takes great care of her image. For instance, only seeking Kei for advice as she did not want others to know she was a late-boomer on the topic of romance.
She apparently crushes on boys who impress her such as when she openly clung to the arm of Kiyotaka Ayanokōji after he showed off his athletic prowess and even flirted with him by calling him "handsome and cool" as well as asking if he has a girlfriend.
During elementary school, Maya was very earnest and had good grades, but since she was promoted to middle school, she had been prioritizing fun over studies with her friends. During the first year and second year of middle school, she was absent in the majority of the classes. Although she changed during the third year of middle school, her current academic skills are at a standstill.

Kanji Ike is one of the students of Class 1-D who is known as one of the 3 Idiots of D-Class. While his intelligence is poor, his communication skills are excellent.
"I love girls, and I hate hot guys! I'm always accepting new girlfriend applications!"
Ike is a short young man with brown hair that has bangs hanging on the right side and brown eyes.
He is often seen wearing the standard school uniform but has also been seen wearing a red vest and blue shorts. When at the pool, he wore black swimming trunks.
Kanji is one of and commonly known as the "3 Idiots of D-Class". This was further proven true when he like many of his classmates, irresponsibly blew through his private points in a matter of weeks on materialistic and unnecessary things like video games.
He also possesses a perverted side to him as he was easily attracted to Kikyō Kushida because of her alluring appearance. This is further extended to him as he once actively participated in a plan to peep on the girls at the pool. He was even 'excited' just by being on a first name basis with Kushida.
However, in spite of all his idiocy and negative traits, on a positive note; he has experience in camping and used this to give his class an advantage in the school survival test. He has been shown to be willing to acknowledge his faults such as when he apologized to Satsuki Shinohara for his earlier disagreement about camping with her because he went through a similar event in his childhood.
Kanji is first introduced as a student of Class-D whose self-introduction is that he loves girls, hates hot guys and is looking to be in a relationship.
The reason for his allotment to Class D is his below average abilities. June 16.
160 cm tall.

Airi Sakura is a student of Class 1-D in Advanced Nurturing High School, she is also a former gravure idol with the stage name Shizuku (雫, Shizuku).
Airi is a teenage girl of average height with waist-length pink hair tied in low twin pigtails and swept bangs on the left side. She has gradient blue eyes and an extremely well-endowed figure, comparable to that of Honami Ichinose, if not greater. If she were as confident as Honami, her popularity could have been on the same tier. Airi is considered very alluring and highly attractive, having received advances from a sales clerk and several classmates.
Airi wears red glasses, which Kiyotaka Ayanokōji later reveals to be fake. After an incident where she was assaulted, she abandoned her glasses in favor of showing her true self, but kept them nonetheless. Outside of school, Airi wears a white shirt with red sleeves and blue pants. She has also been seen wearing a rash guard swimsuit at the pool.
Airi is known for her shy and quiet demeanor, often preferring to stay in the background. This is evident when she struggles to confess that she witnessed Ken Sudō’s brawl with the students of C-Class, or when she finds it difficult to discuss the advances made on her by a sales clerk while fixing her camera. Despite her social anxiety, as seen during her nervousness around her class at the pool, she possesses an exceptional ability to read others. This was demonstrated when she detected Kikyō Kushida’s hidden malicious personality.
Airi enjoys taking self-portraits, always appearing cheerful in her photos. However, this does not stem from narcissism but rather from the praise she receives from anonymous strangers. She also shows enthusiasm in photographing Kiyotaka and admires his cool demeanor. Her digital camera is precious to her, and she was distraught when it needed repairs after a fall. Following a traumatic experience with a stalker and her subsequent rescue by Kiyotaka, she decided to reinvent herself by discarding her glasses and embracing the attention she attracts.
Despite being self-conscious about her body, as seen when she chose to wear a rash guard instead of a revealing swimsuit like other students, Airi has done several photo shoots in a bikini. Her admiration for Kiyotaka deepened due to his motivating advice and his promise to help her whenever needed. This admiration eventually turned into romantic feelings, which were evident when she nervously tried to explain their relationship to Honami.
Before the attempted assault incident, Airi was a gravure idol and gained a large following on the internet through her photos. To prevent herself from being recognized, she used the alias Shizuku (雫, Shizuku) as her internet persona and wore fake glasses and styled her hair differently.
Plot: During the first days of school, Airi is usually seen in the background which fits as she doesn't like drawing attention to herself. She was assumed to be present at the entrance ceremony speech given by Manabu Horikita. A few months later, while looking for a secluded spot to take a picture, she accidentally witnessed the fight between Ken Sudō and Class 1-C and hid behind a corner to avoid being noticed. After the incident was made public, many students of her class began looking for possible evidence or witnesses to the event while Airi hid her knowledge of the event out of fear.
Suzune Horikita had discovered that Airi was present at the fight, which later prompted Kikyō to speak with her. Airi refused to get involved and tried to leave, but was grabbed by a begging Kikyō, causing her to drop her beloved camera which afterwards wouldn't turn back on. Distraught, Airi ran off and found to her horror that the camera didn't turn on no matter how many times she tried.
Airi soon invited Kikyō and Kiyotaka to help her get it repaired. She apologized in advance, but they replied that it wasn't an issue, although Kiyotaka wondered why he was included. It was soon shown that Airi was very timid when trying to get her camera information ready, due to a pushy and flirty electronic salesman. Kiyotaka had to step in and sign the contact information for the notification of its repair instead, much to her surprise. When Kikyō stepped away for a moment, an awkward moment formed before Airi spoke up and thanked Kiyotaka for his actions as she soon asked for his advice on what to do. When asked why she wanted his input, she replied he seemed trustworthy to her as opposed to Kikyō, who she seemed wary of.
Kiyotaka simply told her to do what she felt was right and not to burden herself with the matter if she didn't want to. She blushed at his words and gazed at him until Kikyō returned and the trio parted ways for the day. That night, Airi contacted Kikyō to tell her she would be helping their side of the case.
Airi appeared at the hearing where she revealed that she was there at the day of the incident, though her nervous behavior placed doubt in her statement. However, with the memory card from her camera, she showed the picture of her around the corner with a glimpse of the fight in the background. Her testimony is considered minor as while it may have been true she was there, it was unclear of who started the fight. The hearing soon ended after the debate between the two sides and the Student Council President stated he would make a decision the next day.
After the hearing, Airi apologized to Kiyotaka, but he replied how it wasn't needed as she appeared and helped out which was all that mattered. When Manabu tried to put pressure on Airi's explanation, Kiyotaka intervened, stating his belief in her.
The next day, Airi reflected on her life of how she disliked attention, dealing with letters and messages from a crazed fan of her pictures. She goes to the class where she stared intently at Kiyotaka's desk until he appeared and they talked for some time. He thanks her for the help while promising to help her at any time she needed aid, which left her touched. Sometime after that, she walked through the school store and sensed a person following her, which caused her to try to elude them but to no avail. She quickly contacted Kiyotaka for help before her phone was knocked away and she was pinned to a wall by the electronic salesman who was also the fan who sent her letters. The Stalker scared Airi, who recalled Kiyotaka's promise, did her best to get her phone but was thrown on the ground by her crazed attacker. The stalker tried to force himself on her, but Kiyotaka arrived and took a picture of him in the act, saving Airi as a result. Kiyotaka then informed the Stalker that the cameras have already recorded his perverted actions. Desperately, the man quickly tried to escape, but Honami Ichinose arrived with the police force who quickly detained the stalker. The stalker pleaded to them stating that Airi has feelings for him, but she denied this, condemning him as a monster and told him to never come near her again as he insulted her before he broke down crying while being taken away for his actions.
Airi is told by Kiyotaka that he tracked her phone to find her as she apologized for her mess and decided to take it as a way to embrace her idol status. As a result, she discarded her glasses and revealed the real her. He then told her that if she ever needed advice or help again, then she can talk with him about it as he helped her up. She blushed and remarked on the way he looked at her as he questioned her but she shrugged it off. It is assumed after this she developed feelings for him.

Ken Sudō a student of class 2-D and a member of the Basketball Club. Due to his poor academic ability, he is referred to as one of the 3 Idiots of D-Class. Regardless of this, his athletic ability is without a doubt one of the best among the school.
"Normally, I dislike playing with others as a team, but miraculously, I was able to make it work in the case of basketball." Aside from Ken's dyed red hair and an inappropriate hairstyle, he possesses an intimidating look, which makes it harder for others to get close to him.
His height of 183 cm combined with his sturdy, muscular physique easily leaves an impression of a competent athlete on others. His clothing style also portrays his wild and aggressive personality, as he lets loose of his upper shirt's buttons.
Ken puts very little efforts into his studies, which grants him the nickname with two other classmates the "3 Idiots of D-Class". He is always seen to sleep in class, and also once refused to join Suzune Horikita's study group for the sake of his grade.
He is known to be hot tempered, and quick to anger when people do what he deems to be pointless or insulting to him, showing how easily provoked he can be. When others attempted to help by stopping him, he exclaimed how he doesn’t need their help and would get angry at the person who he deems is underestimating him. Despite his perceived eagerness for a fight, he is shown to get easily scared whenever he is overpowered as shown in his confrontation with Kakeru Ryūen.
Ken enjoys basketball and wants to go pro, and is very committed to his dream as he became worried when Suzune mentioned he might not be able to play if he were to be expelled from the school.
During the cruise in Episode 8, he quickly asked Kiyotaka Ayanokōji about Suzune Horikita's first name and after being told, he got excited. He blushed while saying her name repeatedly, showing he has developed romantic feelings and a crush for her, despite their previous hostile interactions. Through this feelings, he has been able to transmit his hard working nature towards his studies and be recognised as the person with the most improved grades, astonishing everyone who previously doubted him.
Ken's mother, who worked in the entertainment business, left him while his father spent every day living somberly as a mere janitor. Ken gave up on his studies and decided to enter the world of sports. Then his first encounter with basketball. Normally, he disliked playing with others as a team, but miraculously, he was able to make it work and his skill with the sport increased.
Ken even got a recommendation for the high school with one of the best basketball teams in the country. However, he got entangled in violent activities, and his application was rejected. Ken then enrolled at Advanced Nurturing High School, a place where he wouldn't have to pay money for education, and a dream school where even his future could be guaranteed.
Plot: Ken is first seen criticizing Yōsuke Hirata for proposing that the class introduce themselves, calling it childish. After he and the class were told about points, Ken was one of the most excited and during the month he used his points for trivial things while often hanging out with Kanji Ike and Haruki Yamauchi. He nearly got into a fight with students of C-Class but they decided to leave while mocking him. Days later, he was approached by Kiyotaka Ayanokōji to join Suzune Horikita's study group but angrily refused, while afterwards Suzune herself met with him and made him think about his athletic career and how it could be at stake if he were to be expelled, persuading him to study. However, he left after Suzune insulted the idiots and is joined by Ike and Yamauchi. He is next seen getting into a confrontation with C-Class, being grabbed by two students of the class and intimidated by Kakeru Ryūen. He broke free and tried attacking Kakeru but the fight was broken up by Honami Ichinose and C-Class walks off, and when Ken tried to stop them, he was stopped by Kiyotaka. In a huff, he refused to rejoin the study group and went to basketball practice while his thoughts were filled with doubt of becoming a possible failure.
Afterwards, he is given the old test scores obtained by Kikyō Kushida and he is relieved to hear that there was a chance to pass the test.
While the whole class passed the test, Ken was the only one who didn't get a passing grade, being one point away due to the class average. He was told by Sae Chabashira that he would be expelled immediately, much to his dismay. Unbeknownst to him, Kiyotaka and Suzune came to his aid and sacrificed 50,000 points each so that he wouldn't get expelled. Later on, a celebratory party was thrown at Kiyotaka's room where Ken and some other students from D-Class came with him, relieved that he didn't get expelled. When Kikyō talked to Kiyotaka and hinted that he helped Ken out, the latter and the others stopped their activities and looked to see if this was true but Kiyotaka passed the credit to Suzune. A startled Suzune barely explained to a curious Ken that she did it for her own benefit.
Sometime later, Ken got into a fight with Daichi Ishizaki and other students of C-Class on the stairwell. He overpowered them which caused them to file a complaint against him, which again, could possibly lead to his expulsion. As a consequence, his class does not receive points, and Ken ended up being berated for his confrontation by D-Class, still insisting his innocence. When Kushida formed a group to prove his innocence, they met in Kiyotaka's room after their search for witnesses proved fruitless, before Suzune arrived and proclaimed that she found one. Suzune told them that Airi Sakura witnessed everything but did not want to come forward with her knowledge, much to Ken's annoyance.
At the hearing, he was accompanied by Kiyotaka and Suzune as well as Sae. Things didn't go his way at first until Suzune (with Kiyotaka's help) spoke and delivered a speech which implied that the fight was a set-up. She further proved it by asking all three boys of C-Class why they were all present at the stairwell and why, with all their strength, they got injured while Ken remained unharmed. Ken was surprised to see that Sakura decided to come forth. He is further shocked when she provided proof of her presence with a picture of herself and a glimpse of the fight in the background. This was pushed aside as a minor detail, as it didn't prove who started the fight, but rather that she witnessed it, causing Kazuma Sakagami to propose a compromise. He suggested a three-week suspension for Ken while a two-week sentence for the students in C-Class, but Suzune refused it. She voiced her opinion of Ken where she criticized him, which riled him up at first, but she followed up stating that he was not at fault for this incident, much to his shock. Ken watched on as Suzune demanded the dismissal of the accusations towards him while also becoming amazed by her speech. He got into an argument with C-Class about his innocence but the argument was halted by Manabu Horikita who said he would give his verdict the next day.
A day later, C-Class withdrew their complaint against Ken, much to his joy. In the courtyard, he found and informed Kiyotaka of the news (not knowing that he was to be thanked for this act). Kiyotaka congratulated him and when the relieved Ken wondered if Suzune did something to help him, Kiyotaka again gave her the credit. After the brief celebration, Ken called Suzune amazing for her actions before leaving for practice as Kiyotaka looked on.
On summer break, the Idiots of D-Class, Hideo Sotomura and Kiyotaka planned to peep on the girls, inviting them to a day at the pool. After some unexpected events took place, Ike ended up being trapped in the women's locker room and a long line of people from other classes form wanting to get in caused the plan to force Ken to distract them. Ken is met with a problem when the student council President arrived demanding he move out of the way. Luckily, Sotomura had signaled Kiyotaka and he persuaded Suzune to distract everyone long enough for Ike to escape unnoticed. While the event took place, Suzune stole the memory cards for the peeping incident. Though the plan failed, Ken enjoyed his time at pool with his friends and classmates.
During the cruise, he quickly asked Kiyotaka over Suzune's first name and after learning it, blushed while saying her name repeatedly before leaving with the group. While getting lunch at a fancy area on the cruise, they were insulted by Yahiko Totsuka who berated them as trash, causing Ken to grab him but it was stopped by Kōhei Katsuragi.
In the light novel, Ken and Kiyotaka Ayanokōji are actually friends. They met on the first day while shopping. For the 2nd Year arc, when asked about his aspirations for the next year, he answered 'To balance Basketball activities with studying. I'm aiming for both literary and physical arts. After that... to prove myself in romance.'
