Setting: Advanced Nurturing High School also known as Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School is a school established by the Japanese government to nurture young graduates that will support the country. It boasts a 100% employment and college entry rate, and with thorough, state-directed teaching methods, it spares no effort in pursuing the nation’s desired future. As a school established by the Japanese government to nurture individuals who will contribute greatly to society, The school’s campus was designed to mirror society, its school grounds were also designed with that in mind. The area of the campus stretches over 600,000 square meters, and it includes every necessary facility a person might need. Despite being a high school, it has its own park, boulevard, convenience store, and even its own mall. Different staff operate in each area, and most areas are constantly monitored. Furthermore, the facilities are state of the art, and students who manage themselves properly are capable of enjoying the luxury to their heart's content. In addition to replicating life as a regular citizen, the school is also extremely restrictive. Not only are students not allowed to leave the campus, but contact with the outside world is also forbidden. These rules seem to be properly enforced, as, over the course of the series, not many students have been seen doing either.

One of the founding characteristics of Advanced Nurturing High School is the S-System, which is a ranking and reward system designed to evaluate and manage students' behavior, academic performance, and overall merit.

There are two key types of points in this system:

1. Private Points:

• Private points are a form of currency issued individually to each student enrolled at the Tokyo Metropolitan High School. - These are personal points that each student can use like money to buy goods and services within the school.
• Each student starts with 100,000 private points, and the conversion rate is 1 point = 1 yen.
• Private points are deposited on the first day of each month.
• Private points are tied to class performance, not just individual behavior. If a class's performance suffers, their private points are reduced or even eliminated.
• Points can be transferred between students, but bullying for points is strictly prohibited.
• Private points cannot be turned into cash, and they disappear upon graduation.

2. Class Points:

• Class points reflect the collective performance of a class and directly impact how many private points each student in that class receives each month.
• For every class point, each student receives 100 private points. For example, if a class has 500 class points, each student receives 50,000 private points (500 x 100).
• Each class starts with 1,000 class points at their first day.
• The class's behavior, academic achievements, and rule adherence determine whether class points are lost or gained. Bad behavior, such as absences, tardiness, talking during class, etc., can lead to the loss of class points of the class.
• Class A typically has the best students and is ranked highest, while Class D is seen as the "defective" class, with students who perform poorly and often face penalties that result in lost points.

Merit-Based System: The school’s system is designed to emulate real-world society, where rewards are based on merit. Here's how it works:

• The system rewards students's good performance (both academically and behaviorally), while punishing poor performance by reducing their private points individually. And in some cases, a class' class points may get reduced also because of a single student's poor performance.
• For example if a class' students lost all their points because they violated basic rules like being late to class, talking during lessons, or using their phones during school hours. This reflects their “lack of merit” in the school's eyes.
• Students can theoretically move from Class D to Class A by improving their collective performance and gaining class points over time. However, this requires teamwork and discipline from the entire class.

Hidden Rules and Consequences:

• Not all of the school's rules are clearly explained upfront. For instance, students are never explicitly told that poor behavior would lead to a reduction in class points and, thus, private points. This was something the students have to figure out on their own.
• The system reflects the real-world concept that not everything will be explained, and it’s up to individuals to act responsibly and anticipate the consequences of their actions.

Assessment Criteria for Class Placement: Upon entry, students undergo an extensive assessment process conducted by interviewers. The placement into Classes A through D is based on several criteria:

• Academic Ability: Evaluated through educational attainment and qualifications.
• Intellect: Measured via written exams and oral interviews.
• Judgment Ability: Assessed through problem-solving scenarios and decision-making exercises.
• Physical Ability: Ranked through physical fitness and endurance tests.
• Cooperativeness: Observed during group activities to assess teamwork and collaborative skills.

Apart from the regular exams common with schools at all levels of education, there are special exams conducted at Advanced Nurturing High School. special exams are significantly challenging tests or trials designed to assess and evaluate students' skills. often presented in unique and unexpected formats. These exams play a crucial role in the school's ranking system and influence class standings and rewards.

How Special Exams Work:

• Varied Exam Formats: Special exams are diverse in format, often tailored to assess different aspects such as strategy, teamwork, competitiveness and intelligence.

• Private Points and Class Ranking: Outcomes of special exams often influence private points and class points, impacting individual standing within the class system. Exceptional performance can result in rewards like private points, while failures can lead to penalties, such as deductions in future written exams.

• Penalties for Failure: In some cases, underperforming in a special exam could lead to severe penalties, such as score deductions in future exams. The lowest performers might also face other consequences, such as increased difficulty in future tests or the risk of expulsion if their performance continues to fall short.

• Opportunities for Advancement: High-performing students or groups can earn substantial rewards, including private points that they can use for personal benefits or academic support. This structure encourages students to strive for excellence and secure their class’s advancement in the school's overall ranking system.

The uniforms in Advanced Nurturing High School for male students usually consists of a white dress shirt beneath a red button-up blazer, paired with dull green pants, brown shoes, and a blue or burgundy tie. while Female students wear a similar uniform, consisting of a white dress shirt and a red button-up blazer, along with a white miniskirt, black socks that vary from calf-length to thigh-length, brown shoes, and a blue or burgundy bow-tie.

A regular student council is an important organization within a school setting with a unique set of responsibilities. However, the student council in the Advanced Nurturing High School is far from regular, possessing authority in some cases greater than that of actual teachers. They are comprised of a special group of students elected to address issues of concern and conduct special meetings among classes. As not only does the president have the power to expel students he deems deserving of said punishment, all other prosecutions must also go through him, even if presented by a teacher. There are checks in place, however, as in some cases, rulings by the president may be overridden by the vice president. Nonetheless, they command respect from the school's teachers and possess great authority over the students.
