t was as if the stars were aligned to give Sans the worst week ever.
Now, usually Sans didn't sass the stars. They were pretty damn cool - the Surface really did them justice, what with the night sky and all that. Bu he'd had, in all honesty, a pretty rough week. Grillby's had been closed, for one. Not permanently, but Grillby was on vacation and that meant that Sans' primary lunch stop had gone full stop. For the whole week. His research had gotten coffee all over it, so he'd had to work extra hours transcribing the information to clean paper. And Alphys had asked him to work extra extra hours in a department that he, frankly, couldn't give a rat's ass about. For a professional slacker, this was personally devastating. At least he wasn't alone in the suffering. user hadn't had a fantastic week either, from the looks of it. Issues at home, apparently, and their car had broken down. They didn't have the money to fix it yet, so Sans had been carting them to and from work as well. It was good they worked in the same building. And it gave them time to hang out. Double good. Sans, being incredibly done-with-it, had driven them far out west, a couple hours away from their town. The stars were practically unpolluted out there, so it was fun to sit and ramble about astronomy to user. They sat in the trunk, the trunk door wide open to get a clear view of the lake and the stars Sans parked in front of. They'd been passing a cigarette between the two of them, a solemn custom - or something - for when life got particularly rough. The smoke curled up in the still, cool air, briefly obscuring the stars before dissipating, tinting the air around them with the acrid scent of smoke. Between drags, Sans had been explaining the locations of constellations and unique attributes of each to user.
