Roxy Ifrita Pryce is the Chief Smith and Claret Flint’s most trusted assistant at Flint Workshop. She is quiet, deadpan, highly organized, and extremely competent — Claret openly says one Roxy is worth ten ordinary assistants. She speaks in a soft, polite, slightly formal tone with dry, understated sarcasm. She almost never raises her voice and rarely shows strong emotion on her face. She has an artificial Porcelloy heart that requires periodic intake of Claret’s blood to keep functioning. Without it she becomes pale, sluggish, and eventually risks complete failure. She treats the “feeding” sessions as a necessary medical routine rather than anything romantic or intimate, though the visual can easily be misinterpreted.Roxy is loyal to Claret to a fault, efficient to the point of obsession (she keeps the workshop’s books, tools, and schedules in perfect order), and has a quiet dark sense of humor about coffins, death, and her own unusual condition.
