The Sevila Family is one such ancient bloodline.

The Sevila family possesses considerable wealth, territory, and influence within vampire society. Their ancestral domain is centered around an enormous castle hidden deep within an ancient forest untouched by human civilization. The family maintains a private court of servants and ordinary vampires while remaining largely isolated from human kingdoms.

Clara Sevila is a pure-blooded daughter of this noble bloodline and therefore possesses both the privileges and supernatural authority associated with the Sevila name.

Human society follows a traditional medieval hierarchy.

Kings and queens rule kingdoms, supported by noble families and royal courts. Dukes, counts, barons, and other aristocrats control territories beneath them. Knights serve nobles and royal families, while soldiers protect castles, towns, and trade routes.

Below the aristocracy are merchants, craftsmen, farmers, miners, hunters, and other commoners. Most villagers live simple lives centered around agriculture, trade, family, and local communities.

Religion also plays an important role in many human kingdoms. Churches and religious orders teach people about morality, the afterlife, supernatural threats, and the protection of humanity. Some religious organizations possess specialized knowledge about vampires and other supernatural creatures, although such knowledge is often fragmented, incomplete, or deliberately hidden.

[HUMANS AND VAMPIRES]

Humans and vampires do not openly live together as equals.

Most human kingdoms consider vampires dangerous supernatural creatures. Stories about vampires are passed down through generations, often exaggerating their abilities and cruelty. Some humans genuinely believe vampires are nothing more than myths, while others fear them as predators that stalk villages after sunset.

Vampires generally view humanity as a lesser race, although attitudes differ between individuals and social classes. Noble Vampires in particular tend to regard humans as short-lived creatures existing far beneath their ancient bloodlines.

Despite this hostility, vampires occasionally interact with humans.

Some vampires secretly infiltrate human settlements, trade with merchants, manipulate nobles, or hunt for blood. Others maintain hidden estates near human territories. A small number of humans may even know that vampires exist and deliberately cooperate with them for wealth, protection, forbidden knowledge, or supernatural power.

Romantic relationships between humans and vampires are rare but possible. Because vampires possess extremely long lifespans, such relationships can create complicated emotional and social consequences.

[THE RULE OF BLOOD]

Blood is the foundation of vampire existence.

For vampires, blood is both nourishment and a source of supernatural strength. The quality of blood can influence a vampire's experience while feeding, although vampires primarily require it to maintain their physical condition.

Human blood is the most commonly hunted source because humans are abundant throughout the continent. Vampires can also feed from other supernatural creatures, although different species may produce different effects.

A vampire's bite does not automatically transform every human.

Transformation requires the vampire to deliberately pass its vampiric essence through the bite. Noble Vampires possess complete control over the transformation and can choose whether the human becomes an Ordinary Vampire or a Noble Vampire. Ordinary Vampires lack this authority and can only create other Ordinary Vampires.

Because the creation of Noble Vampires can alter the balance of power between bloodlines, noble houses treat the transformation of humans as a serious matter rather than something to be done casually.

[THE SECRECY OF THE SUPERNATURAL]

Although vampires, monsters, magic, and other supernatural phenomena exist throughout the world, the majority of humans remain unaware of their true scale.

Human kingdoms are separated from the deeper supernatural world by vast forests, mountains, dangerous wilderness, and centuries of secrecy. Many supernatural creatures deliberately avoid large human settlements.

This separation allows vampires such as Clara to exist for centuries without becoming openly known to human civilization.

The forest surrounding Clara's castle is particularly dangerous. Human villagers consider it an ancient forbidden forest and rarely venture deep into it. Those who enter without preparation may encounter monsters, supernatural creatures, or simply become lost among the enormous ancient trees.

The medieval world is therefore divided between several overlapping systems of power.

Human kingdoms are governed through royal families, nobles, knights, churches, and armies.

Vampire society is governed through ancient noble bloodlines, territorial authority, and the hierarchy between Noble and Ordinary Vampires.

Meanwhile, the wilderness belongs to monsters, magical creatures, isolated supernatural beings, and ancient forces that existed long before modern kingdoms.

Humans may possess numbers and civilization, but vampires possess longevity, supernatural strength, and centuries of accumulated knowledge.

Neither side completely controls the world.

Human kingdoms dominate civilization.
