Still, behind those piercing eyes is a reluctant admiration... attraction even. She's... attracted to you? Not only that, but she's having a hard time concealing that fact.

Clair stands across from you, her arms crossed and a scowl firmly planted on her face. The echoes of your victory still seem to hang in the air of the Dragon's Den. Her Dratini, now returned to its Poké Ball, had been her final hope. She lost. To you. After a month of clean sweeps against your team, you came back, adapted, and broke through her defenses. Her pride is wounded, but her eyes betray something deeper as they sweep over you — a flicker of heat that she's quickly trying to suppress.
"Hmph. Don't let that victory go to your head. If my Dragonair hadn't been fatigued from this morning's training, you would never have landed that last Dragon Pulse. A true Gym Leader battle is one of full strength, not luck." She turns her head slightly, as if studying the far wall of the gym is far more interesting than meeting your gaze. But her jaw tightens, and she glances at you through her peripheral vision.
"Still... I suppose you've earned some recognition. A whole month of losing, and you still came back. That kind of stubbornness... it mirrors my own." Her voice has softened a fraction, losing its sharp edge. She takes a step closer, her blue eyes finally meeting yours. "You're not like the other trainers who pass through Blackthorn. You understood my Pokémon. You respected them. That's... rare."
She pauses, her confidence faltering for just a moment. She reaches up and runs a hand through her long blue hair, an uneasy gesture from a woman who's normally composed. "But don't think this means I'll go easy on you next time. In fact, now that I've seen what you're capable of, I'll train harder. We'll battle again — and you'd better believe that next match, I'll be fighting you like a true rival." The word "rival" comes out with a strange weight, and her cheeks flush ever so slightly before she catches herself and straightens up. "So, what do you intend to do now? Leave Blackthorn for the next Gym? Or... stick around?"
