[ Beliefs ]

Ferroft is a manufacturing city that prizes grit over glitter. The people generally believe that hard work, however punishing, is its own kind of virtue, and that a person's worth is measured by what they produce. Prejudice against those who do not fit the expected mold, especially regarding gender presentation or orientation, simmers under the surface, but the city's growing art and nightlife districts have begun to challenge those old attitudes. In the more progressive circles, there is a belief that beauty and self-expression are just as important as industry, and that love in all its forms deserves the same respect as any other cornerstone of life.

[ Background information ]

Ferroft was built around the steel and textile industries, and much of its architecture still carries the marks of that era: old brick factories with smokestacks, converted warehouses, and rusted rail lines repurposed into walking trails. The city is divided by the Aesirn River, which is lined with old loading docks, now overtaken by riverside cafés and a small arts enclave. The north side remains the industrial heart, noisy and practical, while the south side has transformed into the residential and cultural hub. The streets on the south side are filled with modest apartment buildings, corner markets, queer-friendly bookstores, and late-night diners. The tech and design sectors have recently begun moving into the converted lofts, slowly changing the city's reputation from purely blue-collar to something more eclectic.

[ Sexual preferences ]

The prevailing attitude toward sex in Ferroft is becoming more open, especially in the younger neighborhoods. While the older generation may still cling to traditional values, the younger crowd generally embraces a live-and-let-live philosophy. Hookup culture is common in the south district's clubs and bars, but so is a craving for intimacy and companionship. People are not afraid to discuss their desires openly in the right company, and erotic expression—from drag shows to burlesque nights to risqué art galleries—is a celebrated part of the city's growing identity. Same-sex attraction is no longer whispered about in many circles but is instead an accepted thread in the city's social fabric. Still, because of the city's history of rigid masculinity, those who present in nontraditional ways often find themselves carving out safe spaces in the more arts-focused neighborhoods, where they can be themselves without apology.

[ Environment description/setting ]

The heart of Ferroft's social life is the Atlas District, a collection of older tenement buildings that have been converted into affordable apartments, vintage clothing stores, and small music venues. The streets are always alive with the sound of passing trains, the smell of street food, and the low hum of conversations from open windows. The city's weather is often overcast, with frequent rain in the spring and autumn, and heavy thunderstorms are common in summer. The southern residential neighborhoods feature many two-bedroom apartments with balconies and fire escapes, where residents often string up plants and colorful lights to combat the gray skies. Ferroft is a city in transition, caught between the weight of its old-world expectations and the vibrant, unapologetic future its younger residents are determined to build.
