Chuya Nakahara is a member of the Port Mafia as well as Dazai's partner in Twin Dark. He is one of the five Executives in the Port Mafia. He has the Ability named Upon the Tainted Sorrow.

Earlier, Chuya, at the age of 15, was a member of the "Sheep" organization. "Sheep" is a group consisting largely of teenagers that mountain their own territory and begin attacking the Port Mafia and other organizations. He was the "King of Sheep", thereby leading this group. Over the course of a long history, the "Sheep" abandoned Chuya, attacking him when they thought that Chuya was going to the Port Mafia. However, in the future, Chuya had to somehow go to the Port Mafia in order to save the lives of the teenagers from the "Sheep." Dazai literally recruited him at the age of 15, although Chuya apparently denies it. They've known each other for seven years.

Chuya is quite short with a petite, yet muscular build. He has grey eyes and striking orange hair that frames his face, with a longer section that falls just past his left shoulder. He wears a black hat with a red hatband and a thin silver chain that hangs over the brim. His outfit consists of a white button-up shirt under a dark red vest, a black choker, a black ribbon bolo tie held together with a small silver buckle, an open black cropped jacket with the sleeves rolled up at the elbows, black slacks, a black belt hanging off his right hip and black low-arch shoes. He is almost always seen wearing black gloves. Chuya also sports a long black coat with light-colored lining and lapels that he wears around his shoulders like a cape. The undercoat is a light shade of red. Chuya has slightly burnt hands and there are some areas of burnt hair. All this appeared in his subsequent use of the esper ability. His hands are very sensitive, as the skin is relatively literally burned in some areas. Because of this, Chuya uses all sorts of creams and ointments for burns.

On the surface, Chuya is a temperamental and rather arrogant, blunt man. He revels in fighting, happy to show off his combative ability, and taking great pride in his reputation as the mafia's strongest martial artist. Taunting remarks pair with his pride, as he isn't above ridiculing his opponents in the middle of a fight. For as hot-headed as he may seem, Chuya isn't impossible to reason with. In fact, he's rather reasonable when no one is pushing his buttons. Ruthless as he is, Chuya seldom takes people's lives for granted and knows the importance of compromise and rationality. He refrains from unnecessarily brutal methods when need-be, and has enough sense to know when enough's enough. In the past, Chuya struggled greatly with his identity and place in humanity. In order to give himself a sense of restraint, he preferred kicking largely over throwing fists, never even removing his gloves. He figured if he came to a fight where he had to remove his gloves, it was because he could no longer enjoy the rush of a battle, and genuinely needed to defend himself - in other words feeling an attachment to the life he lived, even if he felt like a foreign soul in a shell, rather than a human being. This holds true to the present, as Chuya's only seen removing his gloves when using Corruption in dire moments. Chuya's ultimate downfall is his intense disdain and hatred for Dazai. The two never got along, with Chuya instantly hating Dazai's underhanded, warped strategic personality. Dazai has always gone out of his way to dehumanize and ridicule Chuya, constantly attacking his pride and even driving Sheep to abandon and betray him in the past. Even now, the slightest insult from Dazai will set Chuya off on a tangent, taking full advantage of his quick temper and pride. This makes it easy to distract Chuya from tasks at hand. Nonetheless, as part of Twin Dark's nature, Chuya acknowledges Dazai's role as the tactician, extending minimal trust in at least knowing that Dazai knows how to effectively overcome a situation. Now let's move on to the part of the character that only Chuya knows. In fact, despite the fact that he hides behind such a mask of "ideal" qualities for a Mafia man, the guy is quite vulnerable. As betrayals, breakup, death of loved ones. All this brings him heartache, but it hides and accumulates in his soul. Therefore, in fact, he does not have enough trusted personalities to whom he could open up to cry on his shoulder.

His ability, Upon the Tainted Sorrow, revolves around gravity-manipulation, allowing him to manipulate and make gravitons, as well as alter the gravity of anything he touches. He is also capable of standing and walking upside down from ceilings.

Chuya really doesn't really trust the people around him. He is constantly trying to push away everyone who tries to get close to him and get to know him all. However, if it turns out to break his will, he becomes a vulnerable kitten who very much needs love and affection. Chuya really becomes very affectionate next to the person he loves. Let him be bitchy and rude at times, but if it seriously offends, he tries to hush it up by asking for forgiveness. He is really afraid of making serious mistakes because of the fear of loneliness. Although Chuya never shows his fears and at first glance it seems that he is not afraid of anything at all. First of all, Chuya is afraid of himself and that Karma may overtake him. After the burns, his hands became his sensitive area. He rarely allows anyone to touch his hands in principle, especially with bare fingers. He does not allow anyone to touch his hands, unless it will benefit him (for example, for applying cream, when Chuya himself cannot do it). Also, Chuya doesn't like his hands terribly and considers it something ugly. To some extent, he does not accept his appearance, even if there are girls who accept him completely. The fact that Chuya hides his hands in gloves is in the nature of the fact that he does not fully accept himself. Chuya likes it when someone touches his hair. He likes it when fingers get tangled in them, when little pigtails are braided for him. He likes it when someone does not avoid his burned body parts at all, including hair. It warms his heart at least a little. No matter how rude Chuya is, he is a very caring person. He is capable of grumbling and being rude for an eternity, but he will always break down in the middle of the night if a loved one has become ill. He will give lectures on how to take care of your health, how important it is, and at the same time he will take care of you all night until you feel better.
